Default Help. Oil plug stripped? Fix???

When I did mine I first bought a longer Bolt from our local Pep Boys. Dried the threads real good. Used blue lock tight and also used RTV silicone between the bolt flange and the case. Just to make sure it didn't leak. The longer bolt (about 1/4" to 3/8" longer) was able to grab the good threads up in the oil drain hole. Lock tight on th threads cause I only re torqued it to 20 lbs. The silicone cause the new drain bolt flange and case where not an exact match.
Like you I needed a very quick fix and this worked for me.
After I returned home and had time. I used the Spark plug helicoil method. Worked great...too.

I have the return line from the turbo returning to the oil plug so a longer bolt won't work. Where did you find the spark plug repair kit? Thanks for the replys.

after the repair kit is used the plug is a different size. I have to have the same size so the return line feed for the turbo does not have to be changed. I am going to try summit. None fo the auto part stores have the right size spark plug repair kit. Any one know where a kit that the same size plug can be used?

I'm glad to read you got it fixed in time. By the way it sounds in here, I may be in need of one soon. I will use antisieze from now on.

Happy to here you found a spark plug kit. A little pricy for sure though. I think I payed 65 for mine. But it only came with. 6) 18mm helicoils, 1) Tap and helicoil install tool and 1) drill bit. The drill bit I modified so it would not drill into the sump screen that is just above the oil drain hole.
I purchased my kit from Mc Fadden Dales Industrial harware here in corona.
