negotiating tips
So, I just got a shocker. Went into a dealer just to feel things out, and the wolv retails for $5200, which is about $5660 incl tax, and the dealer wanted about $6300 to get out the door, which is $640 of BS fees like "Assembly". the last thing the sales person said was an offer of anything lower than $6k out the door wouldn't be considered serious.
Woa! I may buy used.

Can you say "www.yamahadiscountprices"? Those stupid setup fees will not go away, don't be afraid to deal they go through this everyday, do what I told you to do, take that copy in it will give you some leverage, they will not budge unless you can prove you can get a better deal elsewhere, you also mentioned used, any 2002 models available?

You can look into having it delivered, its better than paying setup fees. And if your into Honda or Polaris check out www.abernathyonline.com, I used a Rancher ES 4x4 and Recon ES prices from that site, and my local dealer beat the price by $250 that included taxes though, you have to pay them here in California to get a O.H.V. sticker. I also got the Eiger instead. Ended up paying $9100 OTD for 02 Eiger 4X4 Auto and 03 Recon ES with one helmet.

$6300 OTD for a wolverine? It's a nice machine, but that seems rather pricey. Here's my experience with purchasing:
I went shopping last spring for a Cat 500i. Originally wanted a Grizzly, but nobody was dealing on them, and I've never seen so many creative setup fees.
Bottom line: one dealer was list price, another didn't look like they could find their head with both hands, the third knocked $800 off the price up front. I ended up getting my Cat for $5800 OTD, no sales tax for farm use, and there weren't any setup fees, so it ended up being about $1k less than the first dealer. For $100, it isn't worth the pain. For $1000, it was. Besides, looking around and poking around is half the fun. You won't enjoy the machine if you feel like you're getting ripped buying it.
Unfortunately, this doesn't help you, but anyone in the KY area needing a quad would do well to visit Bell's Suzuki in Lexington. They've been great, sold me a winch at cost later, and gave me 20% off a Cat off road trailer.

One more thing kevrm, DONT pay their fees and make that clear, assembly fee my *** ! what ? do they expect you to buy it in pieces ?
they offer you as an incentive to buy a free winch, yeah right, sure the winch is free, by the time the dealer was finished charging me
for the bracket and parts and labour to install my " free winch " I could have bought another bloody quad. My advice if buying a new quad
is first decide what type you want find out the M.S.R.P. deduct 5% of that price, if the winch is included make sure that the price includes
the winch bracket, all parts and installation and get them to throw in a good helmet, a couple of spark plugs and some of their high priced
lubricants, pay them and leave with the knowledge that you got a reasonable deal.
