Default ID problems

i think i got a 1984 250r 3 wheeler. it's definitely a 1984 honda. decoding the VIN is giving me some problems. i've deciphered most of it with the VIN decoder online, but this part, "TB052" i cannot figure out. is it a 250 spelled backwards in the VIN? how can i tell what the CC displacement actually is? how can i tell about the "R" part also?

Without copying all the useless stuff they had posted with this, here's what I could find about that number.

"Your '84 ATC200X should have an engine number
Starting with TBO5E-61xxxxx
'83=TBO5E-60xxxxx
'85= TBO5E-62xxxxx

Frame:
'83=TBO52_DCxxxxxxx
'84=TBO52_EC or EK xxxxxxx
'85=TBO52_FK"

I would guess that is the frame number, but as far as the engine size goes, I don't know about that.

Here's the whole post.

The 250R ATC was from 81-86, (1981-1984) used an air-cooled, 248cc single cylinder 2-stroke engine used in the CR250 motocross. ('85-'86) used a liquid-cooled, 246cc single cylinder 2-stroke engine also from the CR250 but without reeds.
The 85-86 had a six speed tranny all the rest were 5 speed.

If I'm reading right you want to know if it's a 250R right? Put up a pic I can tell you if you have a 250r or not. Easiest way to tell is if it has an expansion chamber. Does the pipe come out the cylinder curl around go up the side gets bigger then smaller at the silencer?

The suspense in killing me, 84' was the best year of the air cooled R IMO most sought after around here

There's always the arm test.

Measure your arms before you ride. Hope on an hit it wide open through all the gears. Measure your arms again. If they're about 5 inches longer, you know you got the R.
