Default 81 82 Vs. 83 84 honda 250r

helle fellow 3 wheelers I have a sheet of 3 wheelers and how fast they are supposed to go and it say the 84 R should go 74Mph stock and the 82 65Mph what i can tell they are pretty much the same exept plastic and 2 teeth on rear sprocket so what gives?does the 2 less teeth on the 84 make a 9mph difference? thanx.

is it up front or in back is it 2 less teeth?

it would matter that much im not big into atcs but changing the gearing on a bmx bike take out 2 teeth in the back you will have a hell of a lot more topend ,should be the same with a atc

Thumbs down

DUDE YOU NEED TO LOOK ALOT CLOSER,,, THE FIRST GENERATION 250R'S ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE 83-84'S,,,, there not even on the same planet,,look at the tire sizes too,,, published top speeds are just a guess...

it is 2 teeth smaller in back i know and because i am curious i thought the engines were the same correct me if i am wrong the rear tires for the 83 84 is 22x11x8 the same for 81 82 the front tire is a 23.5x8x11 on the 83 84
but the front makes no difference really.

the early ones are air cooled, while the later ones are liquid cooled.

The 81-84 are air cooled .. 85 was first liquid cooled ..
81-82 sprockets were 44/13
83-84 sprockets were 42/13

Engine code for 1981 CR250R is ME03E-2300045 -

Default Cr250r

OK then explain why Green Country Cycle City of Broken Arrow,OK(an authorized Honda dealer) told me it's a 1981. Also after I talked to them I tore the engine down, and lo and behold, there is a Wiseco piston with the part #466MO6750 (1.5mm oversize) . So I ordered a piston from Wiseco, same part #. Wisco listed this piston with the following product description. (466MO6750-Honda CR250R 1981-1983 2658CD.) Someone needs to explain, because I sure would like to know?
