Default Clutch slipping on 185S

Clutch seems pretty strong in first but seems to slip in any other gear. Does this sound right that it could be O.K. in low gear but slip in higher gears? I know where the adjustment is on the right side. Is it worth trying to adjust? What is the proper procedure? I know, I gotta get a Clymers but I hadn't found one yet. Thanks

I belive it's the cintrifical clutch the shoes have grooves in them over time the drum(just like the drum on a cars drum brakes thats what the set up looks like) get grooves worn in it and if you resurface the drum it will work worse because the clearances are to big what you need is a new drum and new shoes dont bother looking for used there all probably in the same condition it dosent slip in 1st because the wheeler moves so easily due to low gearing ive been in the same perdicament with my bigred idid scab old parts together better than the old 1s but it was a band aid and still wasnt perfect. good luck any questions call my buddy richard up in Maine 207-273-2919 hes the guru on these machines he can tell you anything and i mean anything hes also got piles of parts from atc90s 125s 185s 200s,x,m,e,es and 87 reds

Thanks for the response and the info. Will make a note of your Buddy's ph #. Might have to call him soon. I got to a point where I had to stop over the weekend..I did not have a 30mm deep socket to remove the centrif. clutch. Two guys from work are suppose to bring one for me to borrow tomorrow so maybe one of them will remmeber to bring it. Once I get it off I will be able to check the clutch and the drum and fiver plates in the main wet clutch. Thanks again.
