Default 650 TRV wallows like a pig in turns

Being that my new (used) 2007 650 TRV is my first ATV with IRS and full auto, (and that lack of experience may be part of the problem) I noticed that the thing requires a LOT more body english to turn than any of my old straight axle bikes. Anyone have any experiences (good or bad) with factory or aftermarket sway bars?

one word........TIRES!

My '08 TRV was terrible on the stock Goodyr Rawhides. When I pumped up the psi to 9 frnt and 5 rear it helped. Too much sidewall slop w/o the high psi, which makes the TRV plow in turns.

But when I swapped out to my MUDCAT 6ply's this fall * NP. COMPLETELY different machine in terms of handling. I run 4.5 psi all around.

AC's swaybar limits suspention travel, but I haven't heard enough forum chatter about it being a "MUST*HAVE".......so I haven't pursued the issue.

my .02¢

good luck

I know it's kind of apples and oranges, but if you remove the swaybar from a Polaris Sportsman the handling goes to crap. My buddy pulled his off for rock crawling, and we hit the trails with mine connected and his off. World of difference.

its a heavy machine plus high center of gravity my 08 trv does what i bought it for. wasnt meant to compete with yz 450 2 wheel drive.

Gosh....really?...not able to compete with a yz450?...what a letdown...I was hoping to run it through the whoops with a passenger...

Wisecracks aside, the mountainside trails I rode in Utah had very little margin for error, and a severe price for failure. A swaybar (and power steering) would have helped for sure.

Thanks Cupz, I will try out a version of the tire pressure adjustments you suggested...the tires I have now are 27" 589's, which has a lot to do with roll as well (forgot to include that info before)

it wasnt a wise crack. people complain too much about body roll on these machines. it was never meant to run around tight places heck the machine turns like a big rig, meaning it take a bigger area to turn it. ive tried to get mine on two wheels on asphalt to ride on two wheels and it was very difficult for me to do. i think for the most part its a pretty stable machine for the most part
