Default 650 V2 Belt Slipping

I have a 2005 650 V2 and recently replaced the belt. Upon replacement I started the bike up and now it doesn't engage immediately. It takes about 1/2 to 1 second to engage when I start to throttle up. Anyone ever run across this issue?

The 2005 AC 650 V2 had a gearing clutch issue about belt slippage there was a recall involving this issue , dealerships did a clutch or gear modification it was covered under warranty ; i think it was shims added to the clutch that fixed the problem on the 2005 models and it was solved at the factory on the 2006 model whitch was the last year AC used the Kawasaki engine !

If you have a good Arctic Cat Dealership in your area they should do the clutch mod free of charge , at least parts wise maybe even labor according to the Dealership you have in your area ; i hope this helps you out and welcome to the forums !

Belts have a break in period and proceedure and should be washed in soapy water before in stalled they have oil residue on them from when they were made.. Did you buy a OEM Arctic Cat belt or a aftermarket one?

Any time a belt is replaced or installed, the basic belt fit measurements should be performed to get the most out of the belt. Always be sure to break in a new belt for 10-20 miles with partial throttle and constant variable running (shifting) before any hard riding or full throttle operation. This allows the belt to move in the pulleys reducing normal manufacturing irregularities and helps it conform to the pulley angles.
