98 arctic cat 300 cam chain help
was wondering if anyone new a easy way to replace the cam chain mine is stretched pretty bad it still runs but sounds like like hell, I thought it was the valves so i adjusted them, still chattered then i took off the valve cover and the chain was so loose i could take it off by hand even with the tensioner still in it, I know on older chains you could take out the master link tie the new chain on the old one and just pull it round, but there's no master link on this chain and the manual i have doesn't show anything on it, its a HI-VO chain, but there's got to be a easier way...

I am almost sure the chain is stretched I didn't measure it but the tensioner seems to work I have a parts 250 bike that come with this 300 I was going to use the chain off it but its different style chain, but the sprockets look identical,so it might work, Im guessing they used the heavier style hi vo chain for the 300 and the bycicle chain for the 250, but you can hear the chain slapping around in it, it smokes a little to so when i was looking at the chain I looked at the valve guides and took the piston out and everything looked good and clean, I wonder if the chain being to long is throwing the timing off and not opening and closing the valves to early or late would make it smoke, the camshaft looks good but the rocker arms were worn so i used the valve cover off the 250 put it all back together it wasnt quite as loud but you could still here it pretty good, I found the chain for about 60 dollars havent ordered it yet because i dont know how big a job its going to be replacing it, the manual i have for it tells you how to do it on the 4 and 500 but not the 250 or 300, but i was hoping there was a way to do it without having to tear to far into it.
