Gregg, The red wire is the power wire and goes on the top. Make sure you disconnect the battery before you plug in the wire or you could blow a fuse and get a nasty shock. Also, Do you know where I could get any of the magnets?

 

Thanks, I let the mechanic at the arctic cat dealer go ahead and install the new flywheel since I was concerned about getting all the gears lined up correctly. He checked the wires and they were on correctly. As far as replacing the magnets , I didnt even check into regluing them back on , so I dont know if you can buy the magnets individally or not. My dealer got arctic cat to warranty my flywheel. Talked with 2 other dealers and they didnt even offer to see about getting it warranted. You might check with your local dealer. I know they WILL replace it free because they did mine. I just had to pay the labor to have it installed..

 

cragle1, What kind of glue are you using? I would be afraid to try that because if the magnets come loose again they could ruin the stator. Suzuki was $40 cheaper than AC on the flywheel. The new style part has the magnets enclosed. The stator is another high dollar part. Just a thought. Hope you can make it work

 

Sisco, I did a lot of e-mailing to different adhesive companies such as 3M, Devcon, Loctite, Hernon and others. The technician at Hernon seemed to be very interested and helpful. He advised React 767 and Primer 58 which will stand up very well in motor oil and 400 degree heat. He recommended putting the Primer on the flywheel as it adheres well to smooth surfaces and the 767 adhesive on the magnets. You simply put them together and lightly clamp for a few minutes. The adhesive is very nasty stuff. Also, if anyone is attempting this, there is a sequence to follow with the poles on the magnets. I still didn't find any magnets and I'm try to get Artic Cat to warranty it although I do have 3158 miles on it.

I just had a new rotor installed on my 2005 400with 775 miles. The magnets came loose and was told AC had no recall on this but the mecanic knew what it was right away. Long story made short... $668 for rotor and $300 for labor. OUCH! Good thing I sold my sled!

Butchills, I'm probably to late but, if you have a dealer call Artic Cat there is a good chance they would warrantee the part. They did mine but they wanted an AC dealer to install it and I'll have to pay the labor. Also, On AC nation parts on the internet, OEM parts listed the flywhell fot 364.00 plus shipping. My 2003 AC has 3200 miles on it.

 

Thanks for he info but the dealer wanted no part of it. I am going to send AC a note and enclose the bill.

i have all my magnets still and was wondering if you know whet direction and or sequence they go? mine is a 2004 400 tbx with 5100 miles thanks mike
