me and my dad went with BRP CDI's not a bad product, however our buddy went with the performance package from Everything offroad and it is a better CDI , made by everything offroad. They make 2 different ones but only the one works with the 2007 and newer! I have the BRP and I am thinking about switching over to the Everything offroad. But he also has a airbox kit ( so do I) jet kit (so do I) we have everything the same except CDI and his is better!

I think the Dynatek and BRP stage II CDIs are both good choices. I haven't even heard of AMR or hotbox. I would stay away from Procom, or Big Gun (which is made by Procom). I don't know who makes the Black Rhino Performance CDI, but they make three different versions. Stage one was the original, and some people had issues with poor starting. Stage two is a newer version that has a 7800 RPM limit, and eliminates the reverse rev limiter. Stage three is for modded engines, and has a 9000 RPM limit, and eliminates the reverse rev limiter. I have the Dynatek CDI, and it also has a 9000 RPM limit, and eliminates the reverse rev limiter.
All of them eliminate the top speed limit of 40 mph. Having a 7800 vs a 9000 RPM rev limit doesn't really make a difference for an otherwise stock Rhino 660 engine though, because it is only capable of about 7500 RPM downhill with a tail wind, even with no rev limit. The stock CDI rev limit is set at 6800 RPM, but it is the speed limiter that keeps the Rhino down to 40 mph, and it comes into effect much sooner than the stock rev limit does.

What about the CDI from DragonFire Racing?
Shown here: DragonFire Racing CDI
This is what it claims. Anyone have one? Claims 54 mph?
DragonFire Racing is recognized for its high performance race motors found in many of the off road and muscle cars built today. This experience has allowed them to develop and tune their new Rhino CDI. This plug and play replacement works with the stock panel lights and the Yamaha Digital Dash. Reverse limiter is not removed. With a top speed as high as 54 MPH, take your Rhino to the next level of performance.

Just picked up a 2007 Rhino 660. First order of business is to switch out the CDI box.
Any advice on which after market CDI box to get, or what to stay away from?
Procom
Dynatek
Big Gun
Hot Box
AMR stage 2 or 3
Any Others?

Thanks for the input DV. I thought I remembered something being said about the Procom units but wasn't sure.
HotBox is from Poly Performance ( www.polyperformance.com) and claims to raise the rev limit to 9000rpm and have the most aggressive timing possible. I do intend to make some other mods/upgrades in the future, and didn't want to limit myself with a poor CDI choice, but it sounds as if I would have to do some major motor work to need any of the "stage III" type boxes. I'll take a look at the BRP unit.

By the way, BRP = Black Rhino Performance

Any other opinions?
