They say that "Beauty is only Skin Deep" ........ But the new 2008 Honda Big Red is UGLY TO THE BONE !!!!!
Posted by: GregV
Scootergptx,
The RZR has a 760cc Parallel Twin Cylinder engine.
Did I mention that the Big Red is UGLY ??
I'm just trying to imagine how dark it would have to be or perhaps how desperate I was for a ride ...... for me to ever be seen in one?? Ha ha
You know, Honda has even had the advantage of seeing the other guys new SxS offerings.... And Yet they still have a press release and show the public this thing.
All I can say is that you would HAVE to be a real die hard Honda Loyalist to plunk down money on this thing. Their new 700 Sport Machine has really great lines and styling....why not carry that look over to their BIG RED???
Maybe.....JUST MAYBE.....they have put this out to through everyone off and then show up on
Game Day with something sleek and sporty to compete with the RZR??
The Big Red's destiny is to carry hay bales and bags of feed.........then hidden back in the barn like a red-headded step-child.

OK......Let me get the ball rolling on this. Chime in if you have anything to contribute. ha ha
The 2009 Honda Big Red is So Ugly...........
" How ugly is it?? "
The Big Red is So Ugly, that the instrumentation and shift lever had to be fitted with Braile to better serve it's TARGET CUSTOMERS.......the blind.

The 2009 Honda Big Red is So Ugly...........
" How ugly is it?? "
The Big Red is So Ugly, that LeBra (the automotive bra manufacturer) is working a new aftermarket accessory for the Big Red. They are calling it the "Double-Bagger".
It is specifically designed to strict tollerances to completly cover every body panel that is visible on the Big Red.
They didn't stop there, hence the Trade Marked name "Double-Bagger"TM
It also comes with a second wrap that is designed to cover the face and neck of the driver to insure that you will not be recognized by your friends.

The 2009 Honda Big Red is So Ugly...........
" How ugly is it?? "
The Big Red is So Ugly, that if you listen closely in the still of the night you can hear the Kawasaki Engineers having the first sound sleep that they have had since they released the Mule.......because there is FINALLY a Utility Side by Side that is actually UGLIER than the MULE.

Yea..... I'm sure if we look hard enough we could find the words EZ-GO somewhere on it. ;-)
Posted by: GregV
There you go Capn'......ha ha
I have to say that I have been a little dissapointed in you guys.. ha ha
It's easy, just take you favorite FAT joke or your favorite Mother-in-Law joke and put "Big Red" in it's place. ha ha
As for the name "Big Red", they are diggin back in their past and re-using a name for one of their original 3-Wheeler's. It was a 200cc ballon tire suspended work horse. My Dad still has one and it runs just as good now as it did when I was still living at home 18 years ago. It does has a hole rusted in the exhasut pipe. But other than that she's been a rock.
I'm sure it will run fine and be dependable........
But, anyway..........back to the UGLY one liners. ha ha

I expected "AT BARE MINIMUM" a 700 EFI Rhino to be introduced.
The Yamaha page IMPLIED that there would be multiple models released on October 10th. ........ I suppose we shall see if they bring anything to the table that is directed to Sport Rider like the RZR is.

Now you guys are rolling!! ha ha
I think I'll pass on the BLUE one!!
I would HATE to be stick with a blue one........much less for "4 YEARS" !!!!!!

At least if it was really friggin' fast, we could say it had that going for it
but even then, you can't outrun ugly...

With the recent Kawi release and now this...I like the looks of our Rzr more and more every day.
The quality of the components themselves may turn out to be extraordinary and worth the investment long term; yet what a disappointment from a company that has lost so many die-hard fans over the years (myself included in terms of new models) with absolutely no word on much new being brought to the table.
A 675?....c'mon!

Notice the year next to the name?
They list the release date as the summer of '08 here (under 'specs' as of today): http://powersports.honda.com/2008models/#BigRed

Small indeed and subtracting from the overall look in a big way (IMO).
"...And isn't the RZR closer to a 750?..."
AC played the same game with their 1000cc Thundercat (950cc); yet both engines are at least somewhere in the range of competitveness for 2007.
"...Still, the RZR looks like the one to have...."
Polaris is the only company to date that has 'gotten' the 50" width limitation forced on many of us by the motorcycle community and their divisive (not to mention national orv leadership supported) 'our trail/your trail' politics. They've led the way in finally shoving this machine right on up these elitist's arrogantly turned up noses and I commend them for finally standing up to these guys and our right to access multi-use trails...while 2-wheel supported closed door leadership presided over the largest land closure in American off-road history just this year.
Sorry for the politics...yet there doesn't appear to be many out there who know the true story of why, in my opinion, Polaris was forced into designing 50" machines in the first place.
(Google "AMA-D14 house bill 5343 removed from agenda" and click on the sub-heading to both view how quickly a manufacturer-sponsored bill is killed under Oz-like leadership or how motorcyclists refer to even 50" trails as 'their' trails also....while currently lobbying to shut down the balance of the largest maintained system in the nation to everybody but themselves).

My thoughts exactly; as there is no other possible explanation beyond pure Japanese conservatism in terms of Honda (supposedly) finally jumping into the sports-related (and liability prone) market. I'm not saying that this couldn't end up being the hands-down toughest and well-built "utility use" side-by-side ever built...just that (as you've all mentioned) it's both ugly and unspectacular on paper.

You may be right Raptory. Maybe they just let a few guys loose with a cutting torch, a case of Pabst and some red paint. img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

Just like a friend trying to set you up on a blind date, the salesfolks are gonna have a hard time with selling it because it has a nice personality.

It's uglier than a Britney Spears performance.

wow honda sure let down the world on that pos. But maybe the trx700xx can be close with the raptor 700.

Big Red's looks remind me of the farmer in 'Men in Black', where he pulls the skin of his face back and freaks out his wife. Seriously, it looks like they copied the front end Husqvarna uses for their UTV. At least it doesn't LOOK like a 'me too' Rhino knockoff. What peeves me is, no specs, which is typical Honda.
Their strategy seems to be 'it's a Honda, buy it , you'll like it , it will do whatever you want. Specs???, you don't need to know those, just buy it'.
Yeah, right.

o i ssen it and it was ugly bad uugly and im a honda fan it looks like a rhino with a pig nose like a big red pig lol

So what are they going to call the camo version? The big camo.Honda has really put a lot of thought into this one.At least you could buy the camo one and hide it in the woods so your buddies can`t see it!

rom the little info that they give ya, the only thing that i like at all about it is the adjustable seats, but they might not come out of the vehicle. in other words itsUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYUGLY

i know this is a polaris thread, but has anybody seen the rhino 700 se midnight edition. that thing is awesome looking
Posted by: HONDA CRUSHER 93
you believe what you want, but i don't think the rzr has anything over the rhino except speed
Posted by: HONDA CRUSHER 93
those do look like handlebars

You are right, this thing is not only ugly, it is Butt Ugly.
I would have expected more out of Honda.
So two things come to mind here:
1. Maybe the others are not going to try and run up against the RZR, figuring it is just a fade thing, and that it will go away.
2. Maybe Honda is setting the new look for side-by-sides. And all of them will be this ugly, some what like the cars of the 70's.
(I know some looked good, but come on guys)
Posted by: CaptnKidd
It's so ugly even your banker wont let you buy it.....They are afraid it will come back to haunt them
Posted by: CaptnKidd
It's so ugly even my x-mother in law would look good next to it.
Posted by: SilverBomb
The Big Red is so ugly that they had to top it off by using used recycled handlebars as the front bumper. take a close look.

My buddy is a huge Honda fan but even he had a funny comment to say about it. He told me that his first impression is that the Big Red looks like a civic that got in a head on collision. HaHaHa! Now that's funny and true!

What has honda done? They must have hired some new designers/ engineers/ marketers, because the big red and trx700 aren't even close to the competition. I hope the honda people are looking at this thread. They need to let some "people" go and hire some new ones. Two thumbs down honda. Make something that will actually compete with good machines like RZR's, Rhino's, Raptor's and the such.

Yeah, those Rhino's are cute in a Harley Davidson kind of way....you know... all show, no go. Too bad they are so slow and ill handling. The only thing they have on the RZR is they are wide enough to haul two fat people.
