I've tried to register at the PRCforume and it is not letting me. Does anyone know why? I keep recieving a error message once I tried to enroll.

One of the Mags mentioned removing a shim on the clutches that would allow it to rev out further. I will try and dig it and give you the exact quote and the magazine that it came out of.

ATV Sport......May 2007 issue. They mention a top speed of 70 mph.

After going through the Rhino hype in '03 (and subsequently through my wallet) I think that we're going to take a wait and see attitude on some of this stuff; including the EFI controller. If history is any guide; we'll see lots of discussion regarding the pros and cons involved in each of these individual set-ups; providing us with one heck of a lot more quality information than we have now for the dollar spent.
I guess the good news is that this thing truly performs right out of the box and that a windshield/top/spare tire carrier were about my only real needs when I stopped myself long enough to think about it.

Now a 'reverse' rev un-limiter...that would be another story.

I think it's funny that you're one of the few out there even experimenting with this and sharing on the forums. Seems like everybody had the Grizz sheave put in by now when the Rhino was first released; along with so much more chatter about different discoveries and new ideas that just plain isn't out there at this same point in time.(considering that this is just as much or more of a groundbreaking machine).

It's the polaris ranger club forum...still don't know what the rules are here for linking these kind of things.

Nice...I didn't remember that you were the first out with that unique bumper look. Good job and am looking forward to seeing more of your work.

I'd just keep trying; as they (unfortunately) seem to have had a lot of tech problems over time. Shoot 'absea' a note and I'm sure that Gary will help you out.

My understand in regards to the spacer removal mod is that it only affects top end, not acceleration. Adds about 10MPH but it is at the expense of belt life as it will tend to stretch it out over time. Go to the PRC forum for more details.

Big Gun also has an exhaust and EFI controller for sale on Ebay....

Where are you planning on running it faster then the almost 60? Our old sport Banshee would do close to 70, only could do it on pavement and one other long straight of sand. It was scary when one stopped to think what would happen IF?

But to answer, suspect it would take a major redo of the little black box that controls the engine. Way to early for much of that, I would think, but then, the racing guys, who know what they may come up with.

Is that Sand Mountain as in Nevada? If so, remember the U turn at the top.Keep us informed on the mods. Yes, this is going to be a very fun machine. The after market guys will make lots of $$$$. I want an extendable steering column to go with the tilt wheel. I understand about never enough power in sand. Sand really soaks up the HP.

Haven't stopped at Little Sahara yet. We seem to go to the Piaute or Moab. Have seen pictures and it seems a good place to ride.

Let us know how the re-programming goes. Sounds interesting. Don't think I'm interested in the turbo but sounds very interesting. Isn't it just amazing. This machine is not even out in any number and all ready look at what is going on.

70 WOW! Well it sure has enough engine to do so. Very interesting. Not so interested in the 70 part, but be very interested in how it changes the performance from say 40 up. Seems the rate it accelerate slows somewhere in that area and the closer to top speed the slower it accelerates. If taking out the spacer would allow better mid range acceleration, then that would be something to really think on. Anyone have knowledge of how it effects performance other then just top end?

Martymoe, where did you find this info on how to remove the spacer? and guys forgive me for being dumb but what is PRC?

Posted by: trevorsride

The part is just a spacer that stops the pulleys from moving all the way in the primary clutch:

19 5437199 Spacer, Clutch, Limiter

But, unless you have a tool to do it, you'll most likely have to have your dealer do it. Word is that removing this will get the RzR to 70mph.

I dont think it would change that part, but I could be wrong. The extra speed in low range might be usefull though.

There is alot of info on this over at the PRC forum, you should go check it out.

does any one know how to get rid of the rev limiter on the rzr ???? and how about more power its fast and fun but faster is funner any one heard anything????

Posted by: cole600

I mainly run on sand sometimes in the woods but racing up and down sand mountain im one of those guys who can never have to much power or go fast enough and i just talked to a guy at mountain performance and the said they have mods for the RZR this is going to be a fun machine when im done doing some mods

Posted by: cole600

little sahara utah. they were saying that they will have a supercharger kit soon and they have NOW a fuel controller and they can get rid of my rev limiter by reprograming the ecu im going to get this stuff order up this week

i did the spacer removal mod, no special tools, takes about 20 mins, picked up about 8 mph, but it throws the belt out there further and seems to get to the top faster.
as far as stretching the belt, i dont think so, if you take the cover off and watch the belt exercise with the spacer it only goes up to like an inch from the end of the machined area, theres' still room at the bottom of the driven clutch. when you take the spacer out it looks like it just goes through the full motio of the clutch. as i understand it, the sp800 uses the same clutch and belt but no spacer. that woudl lead me to believe that the spacer is there purely for safety.
i guess i'm unsafe

it's not just me, somebody else posted it on prc, there was a lot of this "special tools, and you need a phd, and marvin the martain's blessing" talk but one guy just hopped up and said nope no special tools needed it's totally easy, here's how.

so i tore down and just played with the belt and noted what it was doing and how it works. and more importantly how things changed

it's about half way down the page. read the whole thread though there's a lot of good info also i dont think it's a 70mph clutch tweak. more like a 64mph clutch tweak.

when i posted this, it blew up thats why it's there twice.. sorry.
hey i put up several pics of my rzr and all of the stuff i've made for it (most of it anyway) you can see it at www.extremerzr.com look in the photo gallery.

if you want to go even faster after you do the the clutch mod i have seen 5-10 miles per hour faster 5mph at altitude and 10mph at sea level, sea level is really limited to RPM but with reprograming the ecu (little black box) to 7000 RPM and slightly advancing the timing, you can still run pump fuel. this can be done to the ranger as well post more if you have any questions or are interested in this mod
