No Cannondale has reverse.
It's hard to recommend a Cannondale to anyone without knowing them personally. There are alot of things to consider.
First of all, The Cannondale is going to require a very different approach regarding maintenance and repair. If he isn't mechanically inclined, I would suggest him go with the Z and never look back.
As far as top speed, the Z isn't even close.

I too agree with Wistech and Armoks if you arent sure go with the Z400.As far as the fastest thing goes up until you pass me on whatever you got yes a Cannondale is the fastest production quad period.LOL

Stock for Stock a Moto or even a Cannible will beat a Raptor you need to do the HP/weight comparo and then rider also makes a big dif.Thats why I say mine is fastest till somebody beats me then I admit being beat but not till then.

I will agree with that.Stock LT500 is faster.They had some major problems reliability wise also though.

My buddies kept breaking the corner off the cylinder where it bolts to case and mainbearings get sloppy in the case.Other than that it is a awesome motor.He put it in a Honda 250r frame about 8 years ago and still to this day can beat the fastest quads.As a matter of fact he won OpenProAm and open A at Ashtabula TT two weeks ago!I have been thinking of trying that motor in a Cannondale.What do you think of that ?

That hurts man not all peopele who ride a dale are like that kingofthemudholes. 99% of the dale owners who post here or the other sites will bend over backwards to help out another daler or any rider in that matter. I've been to alot of races and when needed Ive seen riders from all makes jumping in to help out to help another racer. just a few weeks ago a guy was badly hurt in an accident and he was on a predator the guys at cannondaleriders jumped in and helped out his family untill he got out of the hospital. Most of didn't even know him from adam.
Now most daleriders race either MX, XC, and TT. They talk alot of trash but thats just the way it is if you go to any race you'll see that every racer raggs on each other before and after a race even the pro's do it.
Oh and snowrider hope your buddy has good luck if he gets the Z400 they are a nice quad and with some mods they can be very competitive. Just look at Gust and how his z400 is eating up the Nationals. And like wisetech said if your not ready to be very picky on your matience like a race ready bike should be then go with the z400 and make sure if they start hitting bigger and bigger jumps to get that frame gusseted.

Stock for stock or piped for piped they aren't even close, the Cannondale slaughters it. But now that I have done extensive work to my Z it rips my Speed a new hole!....(still doesn't handle like it though!)

The only thing a cannibal has over a z is ultra strong frame ,axle and much more stock power. Most of them came with the cheapo shocks on them to. If your lucky it might have the ohlins setup. If it has all the updates with a balanced crank then maybe. Other wise look for a better model or go with the z.

No offense taken. But didnt I just recomend getting the Z or something else? In fact most Dale owners would not recomend one to the average ATV rider. Because there were less than 3000 quads actually made and many of them were used up doing mx the Dale owners club is getting to be very exclusive. As far as reliabilty they are probably the bottom of the barrel . I use mine exclusivly for trail riding ,duning and the occasional mx park. My favorite part of owning my Dales is the relationship that developes between owners. I have met guys all over the country and europe that would go out of thier way to help you out. Be it a quad part or a place to stay when traveling they have been there for me and I in tern do what I can to help them out.

What mx quad out there has more power right off the showroom today floor than a ATK moto? The only one I can think of is the the GASGAS 450. I believe they are 42 to 43 . Im not sure about the predator.The yamaha very close. (within 2 )

if hes going to be trail riding i say go with the z400 anyday. if hes gonna be doing field riding or mx track or dunes go with the cannondale. i like the z400s better personally but that just6 because of the reverse and the looks. thats what i hate about my 400ex is no reverse but neither does any of the other 3 sportr quads i own but hey if i want to go that fast ill just whip out my zilla
no offence to wistech at all but most of you cannondale riders think your bikes ar all that and the fastest thing that ever hit 4 wheels. this is waht gets to me about cannondale riders you say there best yet theres such a small group of you and from what ive heard there not the most dependable things out there if you reall want a race let me race you with the zilla in a drag (not on mx because you will kill me

we dont actually race in like a real league but we have a local league that we all race each other in and none of us rag on each other i mean now well joke around with each othere but we dont actaulyy think all of our bikes are the fastest ever made now im not bragging but i own one of the baddest beast ever made but i usually dont say well my zilla is the best cuz i own it

i didnt say today and i mean the raptor could have been buit but i dunno but i saw a raptor beat a cannonball mot by much but he did beat one and i say if you look at h.p. figures the raptor is right there and im not much of a raptor person so im not saying this just becaue i own one

i have rode one i almost bought one but i heard a bunch of stupid rumors that turned out to be true and dont get me worng i was impressed thast the baddest 4 stroke i have ever rode but the raptors are pretty bad
but still the fastest quad is a zilla 500r

they really ddint have much relaiabilty probalems except no account riders was getting on them and getting hurt and suzuki was getting in trouble but see you still haveme on a mx course ur canninball will eat em alive on the mx course theonly thing i can get you at is dunes and dragging

it would be awsome yeah it sounds like your friend got a lemon zilla and then again i dont ride as hard as a lot of guys but mine is doin good i am 17 and i have been riding since i was 5 on three wheelers and that zilla still today scares the sh!t out of me on a hill or bank or a rutt

Hello, my friend is going to be buying one of these quads used real soon, he has a deal on a Cannibal for $3500 and a slightly modded Z400, both are new 03-04, the Cannibal has maxxis razr2's and nerfs, the z400 has douglas .190 with razr2s, kill switch and tons more..which one is the better quad and if you could list the top speeds on each of them..and does a cannibal have reverse?and are they loud?
