Cannondale had 3 different impellars I have seen the first two strip out they are made of a real soft plastic. The third is fibre reinforced and they havent failed but the only way to identify it is to look so if you have the cover off you might as well replace it with a aluminum one.I plan on it.

I noticed Maz has metal water pump impellars for just a few bucks. Is there a problem with the plastic ones . Has anybody ever have one melt or did you damage it from overtightening. Im going to polish my frame and powdercoat my suspension in the break before the winter season and was thinking if I should get one of these installed while its down.

I guess for 5 bucks you cant go wrong.

Oops My Bad , For some reason I thought the $5.00 impellar was made of metal but it is the latest factory fiber reinforced version that was developed to resist stripping or melting . I think it was that dam voice in my head. I thought I really did see an alloy one somewhere. Now I am worried that I may have the earlier version plastic one. I apologize for the mistake and I think I am going to order the the one Maz has if I cant find an alloy one.

Now I remember , It was Big Winky from Diamond racing who said he had an custom alloy one and he was trying to get them mass produced. I guess im just half insane. Maz Has the alloy valve covers to fix the corrosion problem with the magnesium one. I think I should make some myself out of aluminum if no one has any in case the plastic ones dont hold up. I get back to you when I get my s*** togetther.
