from my little experience on both . I don' t hink the Moto can take a YZF in a drag with just pipe and filter. No Way! the YZF is just that fast. As far as racing ergos and handling I wont even go there. I was quite impressed with the YZF.

whats up dude. we would love to make that texas race but that is to soon. maybe we can make one in october. i have only seen the yamaha in action once. our last race at rock hill there was one there. he pulled the holeshot both times but made mistakes in the corners where josh got by him both motos to take the win on a borrowed STOCK raptor.
so now you back to getting the now yamaha or have you got it already ????????
we should get the ex back in a couple of days and am looking forward to getting josh back out there on his own quad. give me a holler.

we have decided to keep the 400. just picked it up from the shop yesterday so the motor should be right now. josh likes the way it handles and it is pretty strong with the sparks 440 kit in it. the suspension on the 400 is much better than the moto not quite as fast but he makes faster lap times on the honda because of the better suspension. the tcs zero preload shocks are awesome. he looks so smooth on the honda and mistakes dont seem to bother the handeling so much. he has cased a few jumps and the honda just straightens out and goes on, the moto was a handfull if you cased a jump very bad.
oh mxmike is getting houser plus 3 a-arms if he can ever get his shocks back from the quad shop.

the yamaha you sopke of at the baton rouge arena cross was riden by ryan artell. from my understanding he has added a-arms, shocks axle and other race parts. also ryan is one of the best riders in our area and wins almost every race he races locally. he usually rides a VERY high dollar 250r that used to belong to keith little. also he has ran natinal events since he was 13 years old. ryan can almost ride anything and win.

todd
no i didnt forget about you.i said ryan wins almost everything he races. i guess i stand corrected on how long he has ran nationals. i guess he lied to me about that one because he told me that himself. dont remember where i got his r was bought from keith little. hell i guess i will just keep to myself since i cant get nothing right. and yes every race that we have been to and you were there you won.

that is the same weekend as the hattisburg arena cross. we will probably be there friday and saturday. closer to the house and bigger pay out and if im not mistaken all the money riders that usually run breaux bridge will be at the arena cross.
Mark

jessica
yea but breaux bridge has been only having about 3 quads in the money class and the AX will probably have at least 10. also they will probably run the money class on saturda night at the AX plus i have bubba running the mini which will probably be friday night. 3 days of racing is a little to much for us. i guess we will just have to wait and see what day they run us at the AX.
i hear they have some real nice shoes at the dollar store too.

we drag all the time, 12 quads drag racing to the first corner and then sometimes its a demolation derby when 3 or 4 wont give the holeshot up and pile up in that first corner. LOL

i think we will be at the jackson ax too. we hadnt planned on running it but i think josh would like another crack at louis smith after he tried to take josh out in the corner at the hattiesburg ax friday night. pretty bad when the only way a pro can beat a 16 year old kid is to take him out. we will have something for him at the next one.
Mark
you going to rock hill on the 8th ???

go to mxseries.com. all the info is there
Posted by: 1986SuZuKiQuAdRaCeR
motos aren't drag machines. neither is a YFZ. be more comprehensive.

that was so dumb of me... oyavey. sometimes i can't believe the stuff i do.

mxmike- I will let you know when I get mine ready. I have a feeling it will be very close in power, but the handling is whats going to set it apart. Not that my Cannondale didnt handle good though. I just like my cr500 linkage on my Walsh over a no-link and as you can see the YFZ linkage is very similar to it. Oh yea what race are you talking about in the other post? stqra?
Also, Sept. 13 & 14 there is a race at Swan in Tyler, TX. All that are not scared come out and race the pro class with me!!!!
Posted by: MrP
mxmike- Ryan got one before Lorreta's. He has a-arms, axle, pipe, you know the usual things on it. I have not seen it in person but he will be racing it at Tyler next weekend. Hey there is only one way to see if you can run the pro class...... run it. As long as your having fun it doesnt matter how you do. Tyler is also the easiest track I have ever rode on.
markvette- I might have one or two sitting in my garage. I got a few secrets up my sleeve for next years Nationals in the 250A and 250 Pro-Am classes.
Posted by: MrP
He usually wins all the locals unless I am there. I have not been beat in a overall by anyone in MS at an outdoor race.
Also he didnt get his 250r from Keith Little (you are thinking of Laramie) and Ryan started racing Nationals last year and has only been to six Nationals in the past two years.
Posted by: MrP
Well well well. I see someone has been thinking about me an awful lot. Jason YOU can talk all the trash YOU want to about me along with anyone else for that matter and you can meet me at any track I am racing at if you want some of me. I dont go looking for the competiton in MS they come looking for me. And you know I have noticed that some MS racers have a problem with jealousy, and I think you just might be the ring leader. And as for the Nov. 8th race, your right, I wont be there. I will be at the 2004 GNC Awards Banquet. What you know about that partner? I cant deal with Ryan huh, I think you need to worry about YOU cause I can handle worrying about me.
And its Cox not Cocks.......................... Your a real CLASS ACT Malone!!!!
Posted by: MrP
Well you know if a pig had wings it could fly. Coulda, shoulda, woulda bro. I dont care who likes me that is friends with you, they obviously dont know me cause if they did, they would know I help anyone that asks for it. And I dont care if you placed in the top ten at 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, or 100 Nationals. Can you even qualify at a National now in A or B? My comment about not being beat was true and was not intended to start anything with anyone, it just proved how jealous you are of me. And you being the only one that has finished in the top ten in 250A will change very quickly next year. Yea you may be the one to beat, but thats only if I am not there so put that in your pipe and smoke it. Holler if you here me!!!!

come on guys please be honest..moto vs a yfz with pipe and filter
Posted by: airtimehocutt
hey mrp long time no see or speak, lol. so, how is the yzf measuring up against the cdale? does it handle and feel alot better (or lighter). how was your season in the nationals? i thouight i might see you at loretta lynns but i didn't. i have not ridden a yzf yet but i heard they lack low end power like the cdales have, have you noticed that on yours? and i find it hard to believe a cdale would pull anything in 5th gear, my cdale will barely pull itself in 5th gear it seems.
anyway, i rode last weekend for the first time in 7 months. i got a whole 20 to 30 hours on my cdale now, wheea. lol
markvette, have yaw had any luck finding a race quad yet? there seems to be alot of them for sale now.
mxmike, what type of front end are you getting? anyone tried the new lone star spindle/t-pin conversion yet?
well, my friend steve is still waiting for his 350 power vavle to be completed, i have put his new areans frames together and am waiting on the motor that should of been here two weeks ago. maybe it will come next week and we can go riding again and get that cdale up over 30 hrs. lol
Posted by: airtimehocutt
todd, i still haven't heard how you did this year in the nationals. i was talking to a guy i met at shelbyville, tn at loretta lynn's national this year. he said he went to all the nationals and ended up in the top 10% of the 250b class (last year). he said they made him move up to the a class because he finished within the top 10 % of his class. now he is stuck in the a class even through he did not do very well in the 250b class (just made it to all the races and got more points). i guess that keeps out some of the sand baggers but in the slower classes like that a lot of people just cain't afford to go to all the nationals even through they are better riders than the slower riders being pushed on up to the faster classes.
anyway, will you becoming back to the starkville,ax this year. not sure on a date yet. the guy that won it last year, does he ride the nationals with you?
markvette, you and josh coming? if so, watch out for those stop signs. lol maybe josh should start driving when it gets dark. you know how the night vision goes with age. lol

YFZ-Pipe,No lid,cam mod,jetting,18in.turftamers,15-40 gearing.
Cannondale-Moto map,Big Gun exhaust,18in.turftamers,14-39 gearing.
On asphalt road
1-4 gears it is too close to call sometimes Dalewins sometime Yamaha.Once you get to fifth the Cannondale pulls away fairly fast everytime.
Posted by: cannondale27
I will be first to admit that the ergos(feel)of the YFZ are the best I have ever seen. The feel of it is better than a 250r it feels light and is so easy to move around on.I have always thought the Cannondale felt heavier than it actually is.I dont know if it is the plastic or the weight bias front to back. The only thing the YFZ is lacking is topend speed which will probably be addressed with a higher rev limiter.Of course axle and A-arms would also be needed for MX.
Posted by: cannondale27
I have no reason to lie.You will find out.The YFZ isnt a top speed quad.It is a close ratio trans.and it has a lower rev limit than the Cannondale.Like I said unless you are on a firelane or wideopen in fifth somewhere it wont be a factor. But it is embarrasing to the YFZ owner when you go right by.
Posted by: cannondale27
You were at last race?So was I.I didnt race though.
Posted by: cannondale27
Bill berger 75 if you have any of him I will forward them.Digital?I wasnt at that race I was at the final one twoweekends ago.
Posted by: mxrookie
At the SRMA in baton rouge the other weekend round 3 there was a stock yfz that went 1-1 there i was impressed to say the least but it's all about the rider there .
Posted by: mxmike
DUDE,
I SMOKE them YFZ's by 700 yards in a 300 foot dragBR>
Ask TESTER he will tell ya.
Posted by: mxmike
Seariously, I have only seen them race twice on mx and they do well in the power department. I think it going to be very close and would come down to the rider.
Posted by: mxmike
The ones I saw were rode buy a 13 and 14 year old. They tossed it around it the air pretty good but it had way to much power for them on the ground.
I think yours will be sweet!
I heard Ryan had a tricked out yfz at the last AX.Everybody said its the sheit.
The race I was talking about is this weekend on the 6th at 3 palms. The STQRA is putting it on. I think there is a TQRA the next day some were else. I sold my moto front end and I was suposed to have my new one 2 weeks ago and I dont so I will be stuck raceing a stock front end, lol. You think I can hang with the pro class? I was up in the air about that. I believe I am in shape for it FINALLY. The only thing I was woried about is the crappy front end.
Posted by: mxmike
Josh and Todd, Yall be shure to make the next Breaux Bridge race on October 26th. There should be some Texas Pro and Intermedet racers there. It should be a good time. PEACE #17
I think I found a new home in Texas. I love the tracks out there!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: mxmike
I wish they sold Quads at the dollar store, lol. Forget about the shoes!!!!!!!!!!
I am hoping the scedual works out so we can run both places. I realy want to make the BB race. There should be a good $$$$$$$ turn out. Alot of guys from Texas said they were going to make it.

MrP did right by saying outdoor races because I spanked his little bottom blue at the O'reily AX in Hattiesburg. I passed him in the same place in both races because he was so great he couldn't double the triple. I must say in the first heat I did pass under caution, but I thought since he was in the Pro class he would be doubling the triple. MrP did win the race in Fernwood that I was in, but mainly because I had engine problems. Please let me know when you are gonna be back around Hattiesburg racing so I can put an end to your "Outdoor" win streak, or just come to the AX in Jackson next month. MrP can't deal with Ryan either!
Posted by: lobo250r
I will be there on the 8th, but I bet Cocks ( I think I spelled it right) won't show.
Posted by: lobo250r
Well you know,if I had the time to make all the Nationals like you do maybe I would know something about going to the banquet. Also I do happen to know that I am the only one in Mississippi to finish in the top ten in the 250A class at 3 national events. You are the one that started this with your comment about not being beat, and further more I have alot of friends around here that race and seems that alot of people don't like you, so I guess I am a class act. I'm not jealous of you by no means. I have been the one to beat around here for years and I am still the one to beat now! By the way I know how to spell your name, but that is the way it should be spelled.

Man I cant wait till you guys see Mikes bike now it's SOOOO SWEET!
Oh and Mark I think I will get TWO NEW PAIRS OF SHOES from the MALL this time! LOL

I was just watching the tape made me on my first run ever up sand mountain. I started about 80 ft behind sandstorm (Z400) and budda(uncorked yfz450). The yamaha quickly pulled away from the z about the same distance that I caught up to the z. I was nervous being new to sand dunes and hilclimbs so I kept my bone stock Speed in second gear and let it rev to the moon. At the top of the hill I was right behind the z and the yz450 was about 100 ft in front of us .
I never got a chance to race the yamaha head to head but Im sure it would beat me but not by a an embarassing amount. Had cannondales not been available I would definitly have bought the yamaha but would have spent considerably more on it to equal all the goodies that came stock on the dales. They definitly should have come wider from the factory but I think they are an outstanding package . I have seen first hand a race at Tigerton where a moto took first place and a uncorked yfz was right behind it but mx is mostly about the rider.
Posted by: WISTECH
The last race I was at was july 3 at tigerton. I was in the tower taking photos and vids. Its the one where Nick Compton I believe crashed his Moto. I might a pic of some one if you could give me a quad number.
