The only thing I do with this bike is ride in the dunes. The stock stem should be fine for that won't it?

Don't waste your money chroming the factory stem, it's weak, get an aftermarket one.

I changed mined awhile back with a Houser. First off jbomb I would buy one instead of chroming the factory one. Aftermarket ones are stronger.
Here's what I did to change mine. First off the front fenders come off and and you have to unbolt the computer tray and move it out of the way. The air filter box needs to be unbolted so you can get to the top stem bolts and pull the stem out. That's all I can think of now for it.

Watch the bolts that hold the intake track together. When I had to replace my stem three of the nuts spun in the plastic and I had to use a dremel to cut the bolts in half to get them outI used some permatex to reseal the box at those areas and used a bolt that went the whole way through with a bigger nut that would hold them untill next time I tear it down that far to replace the whole box(they said that part was on back order and I'd have to wait about 4 weeks to get one).

I'll be watchin this thread also. I crashed a few times and my stem is bent. I am going to a new stem this winter when I tear down my quad. Jbomb, why don't you just buy a new stem? The factory one is pretty weak.
