Gps is the most accurate method of recording top speed. When my DS650 was bone stock with 22" studded razrs, I hit 82.6 mph on about a 2 mile long lake, 76 mph with stock 20" tires. The only thing holding me back from more speed was the stupid 7700 rpm limiter. There is no replacement for displacement, but I would sure think the blaze should top out more than 69 mph though!

Hmm, as quick as those are I would have thought upper 70's at least or maybe low 80's... Maybe it is geared low?

Dont worrie!! i would brag mine up to saying it could go 86mph if i paied that kinda of $$$$ for it!CRALWER Iam glad tht your heads nto full! and u are telling the truth!

hey, how much power increase did you get with the pipe and new map? are there any other performance parts that will boost the c-dale. i have heard of a gap less ring that will increase power by 2 to 3 hp. anything else and has any one tried the gap less rings?

I had my friends Legend GPS on my Raptor with just a pipe and Rejetted with 22" holeshots and it read 80.7 and that is with a 12 tooth front sprocket....lol With my gps also a legend the best I have gotten to was 70.6 MPH (much more believable) but that was not completely topped out either. Obviously the GPS is not always 100% correct. Funny thing my friend says he has seen some strange numbers before but mine always seems to be dead on.

I have an fx and it has an HMF and moto mapping and I run 76 mph almost 77 on a 1000 ft pavement drag strip I am not even hitting the rev limiter and I also have 20" turf tamers witch are about an inch smaller than the itp's.

Yeah I have never hit the limiter in 5th. I do know that I am at least clearing 78 mph though. Try the GPS again with some more room. I am curious to see I got my # from GPS.

Mountainman is it true the 03moto has 12000rpm limit used to be 11500?
If that is true then we know one difference in the new maps.
I was able to download the new maps yesterday will be calling cannondale to find out what is all different.
Dont know what my top speed is but on a 1/3 mi oval with 14-39gearing and 18in.American Racer tires motospeed map hit rev limiter in 5th right at end of straight.

Well you should atleast be going as fast as a Cannibal... I've topped it out before down my road. It's not that hard to hit the limiter. I have a straight away right infront of my house that is about 1000 yards long and I can hit the limiter in 5th pretty easily. Let me take your speed for a quick run and I bet I'll hit the limiter here

Hmmmm.... I guess the Dales can't reach the limiter w/ the extra 1000 RPM's. But Mojavekid, if you think I'm full of it just because I say I can hit the rev limiter in 5th, just come on over here and I'll prove it to you. Why would I lie about that? Also, if a Raptor and Banshee can go over 70mph, than a Dale certainly can too... it might just be his GPS, so just because we question his #'s doesn't mean we are all full of sh!t.

78.9 thats on a 1/2 mile flat highway and hitting my rev limiter i used a garmin gps3 on a clear day and otsu radials 20-10-9 with 13/38 sprockets i wanna try a 15/42 ratio and see if its any different

Hey Crawler,
I agree!!! way too tall of 5th gear. I've gotten use to it though. Very torquie...what the hell is troquie? Just drive a C'Dale in tight woods and y'all know what I mean

Got home a little early today and decided to take my GPS for a ride down the street. Got the Speed up to 69mph! I did run out of road before I ran out of top end but it had pretty much flattened out and might have only gotten a couple more mph. I guess the claims I've heard of a 80+mph top speed were a little exagerated. I demo'ed a Blaze once and it was definately a little faster. I'll have to try it again when I get around to getting a pipe and remap!

Thats true in theory but it requires horsepower to get the the rev limiter in high gear. Using your formula I should be able to get my Chevy Astro up to about 150 in overdrive but we both know that aint gonna happen. My point was that my speed flattens out before the rev limiter in fifth gear on pavement. I've made some longer runs in the past and never got to the rev limiter. I'd be suprised to hear that anyone got their stock Speed to the maximum mph that it is theoretically capable of.

I did run out of road before it had completely flattened out. I think I could probably get into the mid seventies. Still don't think I could get all the way to the rev limiter though. I'll have to take it out to my friends house and try it. He has a longer stretch of road to run.

A stock cannibal will go 76mph. A Moto will go 86mph. So you should be at about 83mph stock. The only difference is when you hit the rev limit in 5th gear. The cannibal has a rev limit of 10,600, the speed 11,600 and the moto 12,000 for 2003 models. If you just hit 69mph then either you were not at your rev limiter or there is something wrong with your machine.

I hit the rev limiter on my cannibal before I got the pipe and remap pretty easily. I havn't tried since the pipe and remap, but I honestly dont think that I will have any trouble hitting the rev limiter. It hit it so quick before that I would think it should hit it even easier with an additional 9 horsepower.

I will take my gps out tomorrow and let you know the results.

Airtimehocut,
My dealer says I should have gained 9 horsepower with the pipe and remap. It did make a big difference. It just hits so much harder and faster. The thing I like most is the raise in the rev limit. I hated hitting it so fast in the lower gears. It just feels like you can get a lot more out of it now. The 12,000 number is from my dealer, he said they raised it for 03.

CRAWLR,
I got back a little bit ago and here are the results. I hit 79.4 and it was still climbing before I ran out of road. It climbs slow after you hit about 65 but it just keeps on climbing. I think you had a lot more left on the top end than you thought you did. I will try to find a longer stretch of road to get the top speed in a few days. One thing you also may need to look at is your gps. Some of them are delayed for a few seconds while they locate satelites to get a speed. Although the speeds of a gps are very accurate you must maintain the same speed for a few seconds to really get an accurate reading. So you really need to rev out and hold it for a few seconds if you want your true top speed.
