Patrick,
I have noticed smoke coming out of my exhaust and looks to be from an overly rich condition. I have the diagnostic/maintenance software and cable, can I make these adjustments to the injectors? Thanks, JIM

smokes just during warm up, but you can smell that it strong---unburnt fuel. I am hoping I can play with the injectors on my laptop and fix it......JIM

We haven't tried by going down .08, but I do know that going down .04 will take care of the spark plug fouling problem.

Doing this will also give it a small boost of horsepower that you will definately notice when you hit fourth gear.

Like gtx said, it's pretty much the equilevant of changing the jetting on a carburetor equipped quad.

You can adjust how lean [or rich] you want the quad to run by adjusting it.

Don't confuse this with mapping.

Every Cannondale that leaves our store gets this setting. They run much better, don't foul plugs, and actually gives it more power.

The adjustment is made in .02 increments and we lean them out by two increments [.04]

What really stands out is that doing this with a Cannibal with the EC500 makes the biggest difference.

I hope I didn't confuse you too much on this. This is about the only way I can explain it. While I am usually there for adjustments, I don't do the actual work. I get to do the fun part........Testing afterwards!!!!!

The Cannibal that I run also smokes during initial warmup as all other's that I have seen...Normal from what I can tell.

You can do the adjustments if you feel the need to perform them. However you don't use the same hardware as you would to do a re-map. It may work, but the guy in our shop who does it has a seperate handheld device that plugs into the same port as you were going to do a re-map. He hits a few buttons and goes through the "off/on" process a few times and he is finished. Wish I knew more "hands-on" about the computer settings, but one thing I am not is computer savvy...sorry.

I had a little blue smoke while warming up but resently it has gotten bad. It looks like a 2-stroke, smokes longer than it used to, and even smells a little like a 2-stroke. Do any of yall know what the deal is?

I have a bit of msmoke during warmup but none after that. Does yours do it all the time or just during warmup? I suspect a cannondale has more emisions being spewed out of the tailpipe than most new cars so you will get some exhaust color/ smell.

Mine does the same thing, if I lived in the south I could say I'm keeping the mesquetos down. It smokes really bad until it's ridden and than it goes away.

I have pulled the two vent hoses off and blown though them. I get about a Table Spoon of oil out of the right side frame.

Any Idears?

Where's fourstrokesmadman when you need him???LOL

I just got back from the dealer because I had fouled two plugs. It was blowing a little black smoke out of the pipe. The dealer hooked up my cannibal to the computer and ran a diagnostic test on it. My dealer changed the fuel injector offset from I think ".98" to ".90". He said this should fix the problem, it is just fine tuning things like rejetting your carbreuter to make your quad run better. I think I have a real good dealer and I am very pleased with the service I always get. I hoping to do some riding to see if my problem is fixed.
