Who is too say the first post was entirely true? Rider ability makes a huge difference....even in dragging.

C'mon Gary....this was a dealer we're talking about. A dealer that sells both Yamaha and Cannondale was trying to tell me how bad a Raptor would beat a Cannondale on/off the track. He told me the Raptor had 40+ horsepower, even more torque, handled better than a 400ex and went about 85 mph....he wasn't blowin smoke?
It's pretty bad when you hear stories from dealerships. A person that does not know too much about the machines, depends on their knowledge....it's real bad when a dealer fills your head with lies.

my freind sold his raptor and was looking at getting another quad.so i talked him into cking out a cannon dale.the nearest dealer is team bozman motorsports,i called them and they said they had a fx400 that had been updated to a speed, wanted 7500.00,so i asked him about the updates and asked him how well it ran against a raptor.he told mthe CD would pull a stock raptor out of the hole and halfway through 2nd gear on the raptor would drive by the dale.well thats all he had to say and my buddie bought a SE raptor.he told me the computer was updated, ect.if the dales are so fast why was this one a turd?could it be mapping?and why would the dealer that was setting on a updated hold over fx400 lie, even though they sell yamaha also.notomention my freind bought the raptor from another dealer.

Is it just Cannondale quads that get all the people that know nothing about quads spewing out these garbage posts? The dealer was an idiot, as is anyone that takes his words as fact........JIM

Yodaddy,
True, true...that's why you have to do your own homework and go in to the dealership knowing more than they do. That is pretty much what happened in my situation and I got my Speed for about the price of a Cannibal...200.00 over. I am happy for all the quality Cannondale owners in this forum to help keep us aware of updates, problems, etc. I am picking up my new gas tank and tool kit tomorrow thanks to info from this site. Next will be my transmission sight window.........JIM

derbyking, stay away from Team Bozeman!!!!! I bought my Raptor from them (I went to MSU-Bozeman) and I KNOW their sneaky practices. That FX400 is probably the same one that was there last year. ALSO, that MAY be the same quad that the owner took down to St. Anthony's to "try out".
I DO NOT trust Team Bozeman and never will. They lie, cheat, and steal... avoid them at ALL COSTS!!!

That guy at the dealership was an idiot.

The upgraded FX is faster than the Raptor and should have been selling for $5,000 - $5,500 and NO MORE! It looks like that guy was doin some "malpractice" he prolly got the quad cheap, was told to sell it in the $5000 range, and then decided that he would make some extra money off of someone that doesn't know better.
Alaska400ex - I was told my 300ex would go about 75 and that a 400ex would go about 85 mph. So it's not just C-dale dealers. One thing I love about goin to dealerships is hearing the dealer spit out all this crap about how fast something is and how much power it has, and then when they're done, start proving them wrong. Kinda suprises them

Your gas tank leaks too? I went in to have them put in a new tank and the damm thing was the same. The cap doesnt seal. Cannondale can make an aluminum framed quad with fuel injection but cant build a stupid gas tank. That strikes me as funny. Oh well, cant wait to see how long it takes for a sight window.

Dealerships lies are all to common, when I was selling Boats, we had a huge boat show, all the lines from the SoCal area in one small place. I went to get a drink and walked by a new line (to SoCal) and stopped and looked at one. 8'6" Beam (width) 19'6" long (including the swim platform) and it had a 4.3 Chevy marine motor with a Four barrel Carb. The Boat was Heavy, with all the crap in it. The salesguy walked up, I wasn't wearing my badge yet, and said it would do 65 MPH, I said really? with that motor? He said "yup, no problem." I sold Wellcrafts (makes of the Scarab Line of offshore boats) we had a simialier boat with a 8' beam with same motor it would do 54mph on a good day. I won't get into which prop, loading, driver. If all other things are equal my boat would kill his by about 5mph just due to the beam being narrower (less Drag).
I did have a chance to run against it later in the season out on a demo. Same guy, I had my buyers in my boat, he had his buyers in his boat. When we left the dock I asked if that was the 65mph boat and he said yes. I grinned and when we hit the open water, I nailed the trottle right after he did, my boat planes very fast and where off, I pulled him by 2-3mph (based on what I've run in the past). I sold my boat and delivered it later that day. Did he? I don't know, don't care.
There was many times when I could have lied to get the sale, but refused to. I can still look in the mirror when I shave, although I can't afford the shaving cream.LOL
There will always be one guy out there makeing the job harder for the rest of us.
Sorry for the long wind,
Smitty

Geez, owell atleast ALL dealers aren't like that. I think KNOWSALOT might be the last human dealer out there.
