I still stall a bit on mine in the woods, but my problem is definately user error. I only stall when at low RPMs letting out the clutch and not giving it enough gas. I've been slipping it a bit more which seems to help. It never stalls going into a curve when I hit the brakes, but I will stall it climbing over logs and such. I have not had the update yet either.

Nut,
I was doing the same thing! I stalled about 10 times the first time I rode the thing. It's like riding a 4 stroke bike. It doesn't have that heavy flywheel to keep the engine rotating.....like alot of the other 4 stroke quads, like the 400ex. I rarely stalled the EX in tight woods.
But, mine has started right up after I stalled.

I know this has been discussed before but I'm not sure that previous discussions are relative to my problem. My Speed seems to stall quite a bit during harescrambles races - especially at lower RPM's. At the last race, it also stalled almost every time I hopped over a log - sometimes stalling with the bike straddling the log. It also stalled a couple times as I blasted into a corner, hit the brakes, and grabbed the clutch. I wonder if it's a function of how I'm riding the bike in the tight woods. Maybe my clutch needs adjustment. Has anyone gotten the "anti-stalling" update? How did the quad compare before & after with this update? I think I'll get it and see if it helps.
I don't know, maybe I need to keep the RPM higher and use more clutch in the tight stuff. I don't think it's the fuel filter or gas tank O-ring, as the quad has been like this since I bought it. I wonder if the problem is more rider-related than quad-related. Any ideas?

Thanks for the info, guys.
The chain slack is within specs and the fuel line is re-routed so those two things are ruled out too. I think my dealer may have adjusted the idle when I took it in a month or two ago, but he may have actually LOWERED the idle speed. (I don't really remember...) I guess I'll try to turn it up a bit.

As long as I have traction and momentum I can bump start my 'dale.

After you stall it can u let the clutch out and will it start again, kinda lot push starting an automobile with a dead battery?

I've stalled on a jump and when it landed, it tryed to start up but it didn't work, but I don't think it's exactly the "healthiest" thing to do on a quad.

I felt that the Dale was is more like riding a 2-stroke than a 4-stroke. I had to "relearn" how to ride to keep it running. Especially coming off of a 300ex.
Oops, I said coming off of a 400ex... I meant a 300

How much chain slack do you have?

nut,
it might not be the rider
my "C"stalled a lot when i first got it ,even when i was at idle with the quad in neutral at a standstill
check the chain slack and tighten to factory specs
kick the idle up(it may sound like its idling too high but its o.k.)
keep your rpms up during riding(even at low speeds)
get the factory update on the stalling fix!!!(this makes a difference)i just had it done and it works
have you rerouted the fuel line from the fuel pump?(there is a bulletin on cannondales web site that references this problem)
good luck!

Mine did that in the beginning all I did was turn the idle screw up a hair more and I haven't had the problem since.

I agree you do have to learn how to ride it. Every one of my friends that try to ride the Dale all stall it a bunch of times. Even the supposed great riders in my group stall them too.
