Cannibal is $6,995
Speed is $7,995
Blaze is $10,450
Moto is 12,450
Regular Bomb is $6,999
Baja Bomb is $7,399
These are all retail numbers.
A Bomb takes a good rider to get it around the MX course. First time owner, look at a 400ex.
$5,600(retail expect to get it out the door for cheaper than that)
$339 works front shocks
$150 redo the rear shock
$162 18" turfs on .190 rims
$102 19" Motocross fronts
$165 Graydon nerfs
$340 Eliminator + 4 axle
$295 Double rox Bearing Carrier
$526 extended A-Arms
$100 longer front brake lines
$300 Aftermarket exhaust and jetted
$100 Handlebars and grips
$40 Pro-design kill switch
numberplates and numbers $40
Bingo, you have yourself a good brand new, beginner moto-cross quad....for $8,259.
Now, buy a used 400ex for $4800 with some extra's already on it, and you should be able to cut atleast a grand off of that price. Sell the stock stuff on Ebay, and get it real close to $6,000 when it's all said and done. And don't worry about power for atleast a year. It'll have enough getup and go with the stock engine for the beginner classes. With the better handling from the extra width, smaller tires and better shocks, you'll turn some pretty good laps at any motocross track.
I'm not trying to talk you into anything, just something else to add to the table. A stock Speed or Raptor is not a good motocrosser. You'll need to add atleast nerfs, kill switch, 18" rears, and the number plates. And it's still stock width. And a C-dale is more maintence than a Raptor or a 400ex.....something else to think about. If your not committed to spending the time wrenching, you won't be happy with it.
Just my advice....

Well here, lets analyze
Cannibal-Proven reliable, excellent custome support, and if you can find a refurb or one with Ohlins, you won't get a better quad for the money.
Z400-Nice all-around quad probably, 400EX like with some advantages, unproven.
Both of these quads are nice, and I'd love to own either one, but there is just something about the Cannondales that makes me jealous every time I see or even read about one.
You mentioned the DS Baja, that may be your best bet if all you're going to do is Desert Racing, if you're a bigger guy you may like this quad the best. How old are you anyway, if you are old enough, find a dealer that carries them all, ride all, and see which one you like the best.

I wouldn't listen to reviews done by magazines for info on the Z. Read the Suzuki forum and ee what they say. All the mags are biased towards the company with the most cash throwing it in their face to promote a quad that shouldn't be(I.E Raptor) And I'm not trying to starrt a war here, but they make it out like it's gods gift to quads.

These prices are pretty much standard.

I dont think they will compare to well. The Dale should blow it away.

i dont have any local cannondale dealers. and i cant find any prices on their website. so i have 2 Qs.
1. how much roughly for a "speed"
2. how much for the new "baja"
i was gonna get a z400 or a raptor, but i dont see many baja raptors or any MX raptors. and i seems like the speed or baja could really do the MX courses nicely. ill probably check ebay, but i need to find my "saving goal" for my firs quad(first to own, not first to ride)
Posted by: Andrewtheman
so basicaly about as much as yamaha raptor(some dude on another board bought his standard raptor for 8)
ok cool, well im glad it isnt too much of a difference, i didnt want to spend like 10 grand for something to do some baja and MX racing. now i just gotta setup some sort of a bank bond to save up money with(because theres no way im gonna finance anything, dont wanna be in debt before my life fully develops)

well im about 200lb or a little less, and im a somewhat tall person so, i think the only obstactle i will have to overcome is learning how to use a manual clutch, ive been riding utilitis ad a sport quad with an auto clutch my whole life

i just thought of anoter Q. wats the difference between the speed and the cannibal?? and which one would be the better MX/baja racer??
Posted by: Andrewtheman
it tempting, but i have 2 things going for me. 1. i love building things, so maintence isnt much of a deal. and 2. i dont have to worry much about MX racing and geting it around the track. ther a local track down here, run by some trailer trash...as mean as it sounds, but they are. probably nice people, but they like live at the track in the trailers. anyways its a big and technical course that has 2 track areas. one is a speed track and the other is a very technical track, pus its onlylike 5 bucks admission for as long as you want(but once u leave u have to pay another 5 bucks) anyways, that'll give me plenty of time to learn
also i might just go for a z400, they seem to have potential, heard they have power similar to a cannondale and suspension like a 400ex
so we'll see, but for now the speed or cannible seems like a better option
Posted by: Andrewtheman
ok but anyways, whats the difference between the speed and cannible? ive noticed that all of the models look the same, is it just the level of preformance upgrades?? i so i think ill buy a cannible, because for me its better to pay a litte at one time and payextra for hop up parts later(spreading out my costs)
im 16, getting my license in like june. im either getting a truk or a muscle car witha hitch and a trailer...
test riding is out of the question unfortunately

well i guess ill go for a cannable or z400, guess ill have to wait for reviews on the z400

This has been rehashed over and over again but once more, the differences between the Speed and Cannibal are:
Speed has Ohlin shocks, the new Cannibal's have Arvin shocks
Speed's rev limit is 11600, Cannibal is 10600
Speed has Tag bars
Speed has grip style seat
Both now should have hydraulic clutches
The Cannibal is a better buy if you can find one of the "older" quads which had the Ohlin shocks or one of the refurbished units which sells for $5000 or a little higher.

Speeds are around 7,995 List go from there. The Baja I have no idea.

If you are truly wanting a MX quad, the Cannondales are the ticket.
I had this same dilema because I think the DS, especially the BAJA is an incredible quad, but its size and weight would be too much for me to handle in an MX invironment. Of course I'm only about 150# so that is a lot of the problem but there are some that manage to track them impressively.
For me the DALE offered the best package, although I'm still waiting for it.

I just purchased my cannibal(ohlins shocks) a couple of weeks ago. I had sort of the same dilema. I test rode the baja and the cannibal. I'm over 200lb. and I liked the cannibal better. The baja is a nice quad but I still thought it felt a little gerthy and I do a lot of wooded trail riding and I thought the cannondale had a better throttle and steering response. The c-dales are very comfortable to ride compared to a utility. The cannibal was the pick for me.
