Whom did you speak with when you contacted Speedwerx ? When you install one of our kits the belt ride hieght does change but it should not come in contact with the clutch cover or housing ???? We have seen a fair amount of variance in the clutch sheaves them selves but we have not seen it were it has cause any of the issues we speak of ? Are you running the stock belt or an aftermarket one ? Have you made any other changes to you clutching ?
It makes even less sense that the problem gets worse over time ??? The more time you put on the belt the loose it will acctually get ?
Did you install the parts or did your dealer ?

I installed a clutch kit from Speedwerx on my 2006 Arctic Cat 500 Auto last spring. After riding it I noticed it felt very sluggish off the bottom. The engine felt as if it were under an extreme load right off idle. The problem cleared up after you got moving though. I finally pulled the clutch cover off and found the problem. The belt was rubbing on the casing and cover where the belt ran through the secondary clutch. This explained why it would go away when you started going faster since the belt would shift down into the sheave. The belt appears to be riding too high in the secondary clutch. I took it to the dealer and they were unable to find anything wrong with the clutches. The disassembled them and checked it over and found nothing. The problem actually went away after they worked on it. A few miles later it came back (approx. 100 miles). My question is has anyone seen this before or had it happen to them. Thanks. JB
PS- I have contacted Speedwerx on this problem. Their answer was they had never seen or heard of this problem before. They had no solution or fix for the problem (which sucks after blowing $150 bucks on a kit that makes things worse than they were when the machine was stock).

I don't recall who I talked to. He was in the tech. department. The belt is a stock Actic Cat belt. The only change I have made is the clutch kit. The dealer and I have both installed the kit now ( I installed it originally and they took it apart and reinstalled after I found the problem). I am going to take it apart again and look at it myself soon and let you know if I see anything unusual this time around.
