Top speed might be a little higher but wind, tire pressure, rider weight, all are variable in that. Deflection and or alignment rerally don' taffect top speed they affect the bottom end and blet wear more than anything. To check it I would suggest gettign a service manual but deflection in ho much play is in your belt ( up and down) the ebs models are supposed to have like zero play in them, and alignment is the offset on the clutches 9 out o f 10 times oneof these is off from the factory. They go to 50 good yes but form there they build speed slow becasue they are running out of gear larger tires would be needed to gain more speed but then you would hurt your bottom end too.

The ebs will work fine even if the deflection is off the deflection comes into play at low speeds and acceleration if it's loose it will act like it's starting off in 2nd gear.

Hi,
Was out on my bike for the first real ride in over a week (back injury not atv related) and I got to a stretch where I once topped the bike at 55mph head into a strong wind. Tuesday evening I was on the same stretch with very little or no headwind and still only managed to make about 56mph.
I was reading a post you made to another user about their deflection and alignment checks. How do you check that, and could it be the cause of my top speed being as is? Or is that basically the top speed for the sportsman 500 efi? She was taching around 6400rpm. I guess I was hoping for a little more speed, since the bike does get to 50 very quickly .. but at 50 it's like the machine hits a wall or something and the hand just starts crawling ..
Any adivse appreicated very much ..

Thanks for the reply.
I guess if I get some time I'll have a look at the belt and make sure it's all ok .. the ebs and such works fine, so deflection should be ok.
