Chances are with the porting that machine might want to turn a little more rpm. You might acctually need to go with a little bit lighter weights to get it to rev. You might of lost alittle bit of bottom end with the porting too that might be what you are experiancing in low gear. Seeing how your runing the gold primary spring which is stiffer thant he blue you shoudl of gotten with your kit you should be turning more rpm than with just our pipe already. Do you know what rpm your turning?

I don't know what rpm dg suggest there pipe runs but I woudl guess you should turn about 100-200 rpm more than that with that porting spec.

Hello I have a 400 explorer with a dg pipe and a HSP clutch kit.
It has been working good, but I just got the jug ported 2mm wider 1mm higher and .020 cut off the head.
It seams to have more power in high but in low it seam to rev at lot more and not go take off.
Should I change the clutch weight? The clutch kit in stock exepet for the pri spring has been change ro a Polaris gold.
Thanks Dean S

I will get back to you as soon as I put the trans back in.
O ya it is gear down one tooth on the front and up two on the back, timing has been adv 1/8" off of stock marks and it has 27" tires
What RPM should it turn? in the 6500 range?
