Personally I would go for the Honda Ruckus. At least in my state, no licensing or helmet required. So many scooters on the market are 2-stroke, but a 4-stroke is the way to go. Been thinking about one myself. One knows fuel prices are on their way UP!

I have had several of them. The 1981 honda SR express was the best one I had. I just sold it recently and had it for years. Actually Any honda or yamaha moped parts are still available and are reliable. I have had most of them through out my life.

One thing to keep in mind about mopeds.
Mopeds are like fat chicks, both are fun to ride, until your buddies catch you.
good luck with your decision.

Get a Kymco. They have been around forever, and are well-priced.

I'm only 1/2 mile from work (school teacher, 46) and thought a moped would be a lot of fun for getting back and forth. I would go for good value (no crappy brands that break down, but don't ned the top of the line either).
I know nothing about them (brands, engine types, etc). and stumbled onto your forum.
Seems like many of you have a great deal of expertise in these areas. If anyone would care to help out a new guy, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!!
