The ONLY reason why Hondu is number 1 (at least it was a few years ago, it could be different now) is because of the brand loyalist Hondu owners that think their low tech old school 350cc full time 3wd machines with 4 inches of suspension travel are gods gift to man. Blind loyalty is what is keeping Hondu alive.

Many, I mean many of us where I live go with Polaris. We do because our Honda dealer sucks. Our polaris dealer is much better and we think Polaris is a better product. The funny thing is, this same Honda dealer sells everything but the Yams, so he really is only hurting himself. Our Polaris dealer allso sells the Polaris sleds and Husky MX bikes.

I'm a first time quad owner - I looked at them all - and I will buy a Polaris for my next quad too.

Snowwolfe, How right you are (disgust).

O.k Im going to go overboard here.. Polaris makes a great product I feel. I have owned 2 and Am very pleased with the 04 Sportsman We have now. HOWEVER, I feel Polaris has some of the WORST dealers and tech help in the industry. 2 dealers I bought mine from were just totally ignorant to the needs of the polaris machines. A partsman at one dealer didnt know what shims were??? I mean these are CRITICAL to the clutching of these machines. I heard another tell a customer the only difference between an HO and a NON HO 500 was the carb. And Yet another Experience I had was the TEchnician telling me that a 425cc 4-stroke was supposed to foul plugs if it's left ideling for over 5 minutes.
I applaud your Effort in this, but IF you do this, Please dont just rely on the same people you have repairing lawnmowers, etc.. to repair or do warranty work/setup on the quads. It leaves a VERy sour tatse in peoples mouths And I personally have gone nuts telling people not to Visit particular dealerships.

500HO nice machine fast enough for me gets me there... good mudder and yes i would recommend it, already have

Posted by: Polaris500HO4x4

hey BareTread why dont u shut your mouth about your hondas, he didnt ask about a honda ...ok... so we dont need your opinion. and if all your gonna do is say honda is so good this soo good that then stay in your honda forum. hondas are not number 1 anymore i dont care what you think by far yamaha has passed them up. i know honda is by far the most reliable but thats all they got other companies have caught up in reliability and surpassed them in comfort and ability.

does anyone agree with me???

Posted by: jimmypsp700

I own two and they are great. Polaris is continually upgrading their machines and line up and listen to the customers. I recomend them and would buy another!

I have only had polaris quads, trail boss and a couple sportsmans over the years. I had a horrible Polaris dealer before I moved and was going to change brands for this reason alone. After moving the local Polaris dealer is also the local Honda dealer and they are great. I went in to trade the trail boss for a Honda for ranch work, belive it or not they talked me into a Sportsman 500HO. They are truly a great dealership and I thin I'm much happier with the Sportsmans than I would have ever been with a Honda. I'm definatly sold on Polaris ATV's and snowmobiles both and wish you the best of luck with your new adventure.

Ditto what ktmguy70 said. I've had a very bad experience with several dealers. Do like the Sportsman a lot, and now that I've worked the kinks out it's a great ride. The dealer makes or breaks the whole experience for the customer. For a while I swore I'd never buy another, but I think I would now, if I can find a dealer to stand behind it.

I bought two polaris 700 EFI's this summer and love them. my wife rides one as well and she has a blast when she rides. I love the style, ride, and performance of the polaris sportsman lineup. they're great machines and are priced affordable. I also liked the honda rincon but it was only a 650, had a lower ground clearance, and was about $2,000 more. the thing you have to remember when you ask guys on the site about which machine is better etc. most people are going to praise there model/brand because thats what they own and don't have any experiences with other brands/models.

by the way welcome to the forums

polaris will never be #1 and neither will anyone else. honda has always been #1 and always will be #1. now i know some of you guys will say " polaris or somebody else could become #1" no they wont, well not for many years to come.

i have a 2001 scrambler 500, and i must say, i do love it. its fast, like a sport, but really tough like a utility. very versatile. the automatic transmission is fantastic! the belt system really impresses me. it by far exceeds my expectations, and i encourage you to start a dealership with polaris as a supplier.

If you are seeking advice on spending tons of up front cash from people you don't know you have bigger balls than I do! All I can tell you is Polaris is either number 1 or 2 in sales in the USA and from what I have personally seen the Rangers are gaining in popularity every year. I am sure Polaris reps have all the fiqures you need and more. Your core base for customers is in your back yard. Not on a web site. Just my 2 cents worth but if I were to open up a dealership for ATV's I would pick Polaris

Get a 6 x 6 and put a set of tracks on it. I dare any other ATV to follow it thru the mud and tundra. If this won't convert Bombardier owners to switch nothing will. I would take a guess and say that Polaris sells at least three times as many ATV's as Bombardier. Nuff said.

Sportsman.

I know. I sold all my ATV's a few years ago as I never had the time to go hunting. I made my son a promise this year we would go moose hunting next fall so the VERY first thing I did was to order a new 6 x 6 which I pick up next month. I owned my previous one (370 cc 2 stroke) for five years and only had to replace some brake pads and front hub seals. I didnt have tracks on it but it was kinda fun to be pulling a meat wagon weighing about 500 pounds and drive around 4 wheel drive ATV's not pulling a trailer that were stuck in the mud. There are quite a few people that complain the 6 x 6 doesnt turn, is to heavy, etc. But it is as easy to drive as any other atv. It is not a sport quad and wasnt designed to be. It is designed to take you and a huge load over terrain that other ATV's would fear to tread. I bet half of all ATV's I see while hunting in the tundra here in Alaska are Polaris with half of those being the 6 x 6. We go back 25 miles to set up moose camp and in a wet year it takes us 14 hours to do it to give you an idea of how difficult the terrain can be. If we have a wet summer next year I am going to add the tracks.

Check with Honda Barethread. Polaris is number one in Alaska and last time I read anything they were number one in the USA if you just counted ATV's and did not include dirt bikes.

Unfortunately most dealers hire youngsters with little or no experience to save a few bucks. I find this to be true of all brand dealers. I dont understand the mentalility of this. A recent example is when I went to my local dealer I had to get them to go to there computer and pull up Polaris's web page so I could show them the recent Polaris offer that gives you double the warranty on a purchase made now till 31 Dec. A visit to the Suzuki dealership to find a King Quad and the salesperson told me it was a Vtwin with 2 carbs. Another visit to our Honda store and I was told all Honda quads only have disc brakes. I have no idea why employess dont take the time to learn more about there products.

Hi everyone. I would like to get feed back from owners of Polaris atv's and Ranger's. I'm heading to Minesota to meet with them as a prospect dealor for their products. Our core business is in the lawn/garden and compact tractors. We would like to complete our current lines with UTV and ATV products. So what do you think of them? (Product wise and company wise). Do you own? if yes what model? Would you recommend Polaris? Would you buy a Polaris again and be a repeat customer?

Thanks in advance for your comments!!

Thank's for your cander. It's appreciated. In my backyard, Polaris is under reprensented. I'm wondering if the products are to blame or is it a mater of the company not adressing the area with proper marketing. We're based in Canada in the province of quebec. This is Bombardier territory, therefore we need a product that is capable of braking away from the tradition. Plus we want to match the need of our customers with a tough machine (more work than play). We see the ATP, Sportsman and the Rangers as our target. We're not at this time oriented toward becoming a recreational shop.

Please keep the comments comming.

Regards,

M.S.

Well I just purchased a regular 500 ranger (red) the 700 was too jumpy, and 2k more.. but man i love my kids 250 recon and 250 sporttrax, for the $$ I think they are the best little atv"s made, I would not purchase a large atv, for thr price of a 700 800 660 or whatever, I can have the same fun for 1/2 less, plus if I get into trouble with it(recon), they are about 350 lb, I would rather that be on me than a loaded up700lb machine, but thats my choice , im sure lots of people love those mini tanks. as for polaris its my first, I chose it over the rhino. 1. more room. 2. better finish(the rhino has no protection at all over the radiator, and cheap plastic skid plates) 3.been on market for years 4.guys at local yam-honda are jerks, and polaris guys are cool, take care of your customers,,, Froggy
