Rhino tops at about 42mph.
The ranger is a better work machine
The Rhino is better at trail riding and 4x4ing
The Ranger has less problems (Rhino is not bad just some first year bugs - CV joints being #1)
I love my Rhino but if I was doing work all day I would get a mule, a lot of work and some trail riding - a Ranger, mostly trails and a little work - The Rhino.
They are all a lot more fun than most people would ever think, I REALLY like my Rhino!
Posted by: Code54
Of course the Ranger is better because you have one.... And of course the Rhino is better because I have one..... Come on, at least be fair and give the good and BAD points of both... To the comment about - at least the ranger can make its on trail, funnny thing here, I NEVER had a problem doing the same with the Rhino. Both are good machines and BOTH have weaknesses if the owners want to admit it or not.
As for the buying a jeep thing. If I COULD find a FULLY locked 4x4 BRAND NEW Jeep for $8500 I would have considered one. Everyone I seen that was new and set up for real 4x4ing was well over 20K new, and MUCH closer to 25K. We need to compair apples to apples if we want to argue. The advantage to the Rhino for me was it was SMALLER then a Jeep, dump bed, fully locked, and could be LEGALLY ridden on state trails that I had access to. A lot of the areas did NOT allow Jeeps and for others they were just too large. Plus keep in mind up keep - insurance on a Rhino $160 for full coverage, for a new Jeep where I lived just shy of $1500 a year. Plus a new set of tires for a Jeep... about $500, the Rhino, $250, tags and plate fees - Rhino none, Jeep anopther $75 a year. If you look hard you will see for a lot of people the Rhino/Ranger is a better vehicle. Plus if the Rhino or Ranger dies on the trail my truck will still get me home, if I killed the Jeep 4 wheeling it would be one LONG walk....
Not trying to slam anyone here but lets try and look into things and topics before we put down others and there machines....
Posted by: Code54
WOW that sucks, when I lived in MI we had a bunch of ATV and ORV trails. Some we could take Jeeps/ATVs/Rhinos on, some not. The big thing was there maybe trails Jeeps are allowed but don't fit too well, that is where the Rhino came in. Plus it is a LOT easier for me to trailer than a Jeep!
Now I am in WV and it is free game for the most part, if only Hatfield/McCoy would let the Rhinos in....

please correct me if i'm wrong but your 2004 Ranger does NOT have IRS. that is a new feature (along with the new front ends) for 2005. pre-2005 Rangers have a SOLID rear axle. also, the Ranger 6X6 and the RangerTM don't have IRS either. to the best of my knowledge (and it's limited when it comes to Rangers! LOL!) the only IRS Ranger is the Ranger4X4.

in MA,
a quad is an ATV.
a Ranger is an ORV.
can't go the same places the ATV can legally. and if you're caught, your dead meat! the Environmental Police are nasty!

...in fact the only place you can drive your ORV in MA is on your own land!
sucks!
Posted by: mtpockets
WOW are those Rangers expensive!
i priced a Ranger4X4 in Red on Polaris's website yesterday and fell out of my chair!LOL
i added an enclosed cab(no wiper or heat) for winter, Warn winch, Glacier plow, power dump (electric), small nerf bars and cheap bed-height extenders and ..........................drum roll. .....................................................................$16,400.!!!!!!
can you believe that! that's unreal!
think of what you could buy for $16 grand!.....a very nice new Diesel 4X4 Kabota/Deere/NewHolland tractor with loader!

if you read that again you will see I said that the atvs go faster in the straight aways and sand dunes I was able to keep with them on a 07 ranger they were ahead a little ways which didnt matter I hated the roosts anyways most of them kicked up sand so high you didnt want to be to close.and here is some vids of a rhino I believe:
Rhino passing atvs in race
That's a great video! Thanks!
Posted by: mtpockets
I haven't had the chance to ride either machine but common sence tells me that the faster one would be smaller, weigh less, and have more power.
Does the Ranger weigh less? Does the Ranger have a more powerful engine? Hp or torque?
In my area there is no place to ride such a beast non the less drive it at WOT.
Posted by: mtpockets
You can find this in every forum. "mine is faster than yours". It will be between sport quads, kids quads, utes, difference in 4X4 systems, differentials, tires! Just about ANYTHING!LOL!
After-all, it's the AMERICAN WAY!!"My grass is greener than yours, my house is bigger than yours, my wife/job/CAR/ TRUCK is better than yours."
It's just the American way bro!
Pretty soon the debate will be about what language is better! (And you might want to brush-up on your Spanish!LOL)
The new American Way! Drive foreign autos and speak Spanish!................now here's something to debate about! LOL!

Frame quality and axel articulation, hp, and ground clearnce the ranger wins all out the rhino with a cdi is a tad faster but 60 i don't think so.I installed a white bros pipe and port work my ranger realy came alive!!!! And yet it is still a great work horse with a attitude.
Posted by: AZSAND
My piped ported lifted ranger 700 efi say's bring on them puny little rhino's. The ranger is cheaper to lift has better axels than the rhino. They have 34 deg joints so they lift without all the axel failures plus they start out with twice the meat... plain and simple comparing a rhino to a ranger is like a kids cart to a sand car. Don't even embarrass yourselfs.I will rip the frame right out from under them puny kids toy's there a fad buy not a smart buy. They can out roll the ranger from what ive seen though.LOL don't get butt hurt boy's facts are facts why don't you compare your toyota hd tacoma's to my ford F250 hd lets not lie to each other.your rhinos can be cute but they don't compare. And so you ranger guy's know you can with minimal effort put a 400 ex dmc alien slip on pipe on your ranger 28" tall tires and no rhino with out massive motor work will compete. ENUF SAID !!!!!!!!!!!

That's right, they want you to buy a polaris, so they make a video which is biased for the ranger. What motive would they have showing ANY of the advantages the other side X sides have? The video is indeed rigged, and don't believe anything the dealers say. Go do your own hands on test to see which one really is for you. The rhino is badass, with more power than the ranger, but it is smaller. The mule is slow, but built good. I personally thought the overall fit and finish of the ranger was poor and cheap, but thats JMO.
The suspension of the rhino is superior. It will go places the others won't (size). It has the most horsepower, and is pretty stylish.
I will say the new ranger with 700cc's and independent rear suspension sounds interesting.
Posted by: BlackBird1100XX
That is advertising, but it is also misleading. That is why I said to go do your own hands on test of all the different brands. That is the best way to know what is best for you.
Posted by: BigBadScrambler
I think the Ranger is a little faster. I believe that the CDI on the Rhino limits its top speed
Posted by: 95sport400
Here's what I don't understand. For the price of these things, you could get a good used Jeep. Street legal, faster, more powerful, and you can get things like a/c for those hot, buggy summer days. If that's too big, maybe a Samurai. I can't see spending that much money for what's basically an off-road golf cart.

I agree it seems that most people always think sxs are slow but then get them on a trail behind us and see how hard they work to keep up even if there machines go 60+ they still have trouble, only on the straight aways or sand dunes does it turn the other way on keeping up but that is fine by me. I know sxs are just getting started and have even heard accounts of them passing atvs on the big desert stlye races.
by no means will a stock side by side be able to keep up with a fast rider on a sport quad in the dunes.
we just picked up a ranger.....and it goes to the dunes this weekend!!!
Posted by: learnem
the rangers have been out longer, but the yamaha's are more popular, due to the marketing strategy. The new rangers are nothing like the older rangers, which were underpowered, and the suspension left more to be desired.
along with popularity, comes the aftermarket, for which the rhino has a huge one. The ranger's is just catching on, with small companies popping up here and there.
which one is the best in stock form?
well the ranger is bigger, with a bigger motor to push the extra weight around, while the rhino is narrower, weighs less, and is a little more nimble
when I drove both of them, before I made my choice, I thought the rhino drove like a race car, and the ranger drove like a truck.
stock!!!
up the dunes, with equal drivers, the rhino will pull away due to less weight, but downhill, and in the flats, the ranger takes the rhino with bigger engine, more hp and a taller top speed.
suspension wise, I thought the Ranger's was better in stock form than the Rhino, but that was me.
Ergonomics, the Rhino wins. everything is right there @ the fingertips
which one is better? it depends on what you want it for. I think both are pretty equal, considering all areas. in stock form
now modified??? the rhino wins hands down, but I didn't pay 10 grand for my ranger to dump another 10 grand worth of mods into it!!!
Posted by: learnem
that is a pretty sweet looking ranger.
I like how they kept the bed, for saving weight, so no roll cage in the back.
i just picked up my 06 xp a couple of weekends ago!!
how do you like that digital dash???

I still had peddle left but it was not my ranger so I stayed easy on it.
I checked out the 07's before I bought as well. I thought that the digital dash was nice, but for over 1000 dollars for what I paid for the 06... I will wait until a digital dash comes on the aftermarket scene for less than half that.
other than the dash, I didn't notice any differences between the two, other than the speed limiter on the 07 is up 6 mph to 50

they are mere inches wider than a rhino, like 5 or 6. the ranger puts more power down in hp and tq.
they both do well in the sand. like the diff between a trx450r and a yzf450....same stinkin thing.
why didn't i get the rhino??? for 1, the seating config. i needed to seat three people stock, not dump in another 2-4 grand with seats and a cage in the back, and get rid of my bed.
the only diff is the aftermarket ,which rhino has cornered hands down.
i am not ashamed of my ranger in the sand. i was actually surprised by it

I cant believe you guys are picking on the Polaris video, do you guys watch TV? Listen to the car comercials and the wording...'most available torque','most standard HP', ours is best at this. Of course Brand X is going to make their product look good in certain situations, thats advertising!
Posted by: EAB
I'm not trying to argue, its just that advertising KILLS me, especially car dealerships with their discounts that nobody can qualify for (but thats another rant).
I, like everyone, want to see proof. Both Polaris and Yamaha have in print they they each have 'the highest power-to-weight ratio' of any 4-stroke quad. See my pic page for Polaris' claim, see the back of the current issue of Dirt Wheels for Yamahas claim.

WELL I HAVE A 2005 POLARIS RANGER 4X4 AND A WEEK AGO I BOUGHT A RHINO 660, MOSTLY BECAUSE THE RHINO CAN REALLY BE FIXED UP. I LOVE THEM BOTH I ONLY HOPE THE RHINO HOLDS UP AS GOOD AS THE RANGER IT HAS BEEN ONE TOUGH MACHINE. I THINK POARIS QUIT MAKEING VIDEOS AFTER THE RHINO CAME ON THE MARKET. MY FRIEND HAS A RHINO I RACED HIM WITH THE RANGER BOTH WERE STOCK HE PULLED AWAY ON TAKE-OFF BUT I CAUGHT HIM WITH-IN 300 YARDS AND PASSED HIM. THE RHINO HAS THE GRISLEY CDI AND A JET KIT WITH K &N FILTER. IT GOES 65MPH ON HARD SURFACE . BOTH MACHINES ARE GREAT JUST THE LOOKS ARE DIFFERENT
Posted by: BERNIE
WHAT WE ARE DOING TO GET 60MPH IS ADDING 27 INCH TIRES AND THEY ARE ITP MUDLITES AS FOR 65 I DONT KNOW ABOUT THAT I DONT THINK SO ALSO THE CARB HAS TO BE JETTED AND THE TIMING HAS TO BE CORRECTED BUT IM AFRAID THE ENGINE IS WINDING UP TO TIGHT I WOULDNT RUN MINE FLOORED AT A LONG DISTANCE
Posted by: BERNIE
I WONDER HOW I OUT RAN A 700 RANGER LAST WEEKEND GOSH HE WAS IN FRONT OF ME IN MY WAY HAD TO PASS HIM AND COULDN'T HESITATE TO WAVE BYE BYE . LOL THE DEALER TOLD HIM IT WOULD OUT RUN THE RHINO . ARE U A RHINO DEALER. WELL I TRADED THE 2002 RANGER AND GOT A 2006 THEN WENT AND BOUGHT A 2006 RHINO SO GUESS WHO KNOWS
Posted by: MrZeeedler
You should go down to your dealer, and try to get a test drive with it. Have them explain the differences. Ask for them to show you the video tape. I think you would enjoy seeing how polaris dominates that market. And make up your mind on which vehicle to choose.
Posted by: MrZeeedler
QuadLT500Racer the idea is to get the customer to buy a polaris machine. Get this through your head......
Posted by: MrZeeedler
Rhino has more power then the new 700 efi ranger? independent suspension? pfft.
Posted by: enFORCER
Honda is working on their own version as well.
Posted by: thewayout420
why dont you have any pics lt500?
Posted by: AZVFORCE
My brothers rhino has a BRP CDI, BRP full exhaust, BRP Edelbrock carb, BRP fuel pump, and 27" mudlites and it barely gets over 50mph. I guess it needs clutch work.
Posted by: NJRaptor419
Just change the cdi in the rhino to a grizzly one. I've heard that gets a rhino in the 60's.
Posted by: NJRaptor419
With mods(cdi and weights), a rhino WILL do over 60. Watch out code45, implying that a yamaha might be better at anything is gonna cause problems.
Posted by: hvydty2500
i dont know about a rhino, but i know my ranger does 45.....nice for goin the long haul down the road b/t farms...but if its gonna go that fast it should have one more lower range....for me.......just feels like its gruntin alot when in low.....but it does the job.....i just htink it might be easier on the machine..if there where..thats all
Posted by: hvydty2500
I purchased the ranger for farm work...rock picking...spreading seed (because i can haul alot more seed in the bed then i can on the quad) plus if its wet it dosnt tear things up in the field...like my tractors do....plus its nice with the cab and heater and plow i can clean out around the barns and small areas easier then i can with my truck and tractor......and when we go riding i let my dad use it and that way him and my mom can ride together...
the rhino wasnt out when i bought it...plus i got one heck of a deal on it.........or i would have givin the rhino a shot....
my friend has a mule ...and hasnt had any problems....but my ground is so spread out that i would be losing time traveling...its just as easy to get in the ranger and go to each piece of ground 10 miles away..and it goes plenty fast to get there in a decent time..rather then hooking up a trailer and trailering it farm to farm.....thats the only down fall i can see by the mule.....
for what i bought the ranger for it works great and exceded my expectations....
im not bashing anything...there all good utilitys.....kubota...ranger, rhino...mule...there all good...they all have there pros and con's....i just couldnt do what i can with these utilitys ..with a jeep or samuri
Luke

im glad to see you're brainwashed by that cheesy polaris video mr zeedler. you can tell they were being easier (or harder if that made the polaris look better) in ever situation. i dont know and dont care which is better, but i saw the bogus video and it is BOGUS
Posted by: Bionic
I rode with one this weekend w/10 quads. He was a nut but kept up fine even with his wife next to him. The gates that only allow wheelers to barely fit through did'nt stop him either. I was totally impressed with it. I want one. When we got to a mud hole to playaround he floored it right out into it. He did get stuck but we got him out no prob. Whats the weight 700xp rang. vs. Rhino?
Posted by: weez440
i think the employees at polaris get them for about $6500 just the ranger.
Posted by: weez440
yeah but by adding the blackrhino cdi you rhino owners get get up to like 58 mph and i believe you are right on the money where they are both governed at now i clocked my buddies ranger with my atv speedo and it was bouncing between 41 and 42.
Posted by: weez440
i think the sight is www.blackrhino.com they have alot of awesome stuff for the rhino there. i was gonna get one but well decided to get a dirt bike instead ugh lol
Posted by: Tyson150
what would be the outcome, are they really slow?
Posted by: squirtbottle
All of the rangers have independent rear suspension. Yeah but the thing about the ranger and rhino, the ranger can make its own trail!!! Our ranger does everything from put in our two 2005 Fx high output jetskies that weigh about 800 each, 2 on single trailer, and it will pull them out of a boat ramp with 45 gallons worth of gas in gas cans, a couple coolers, lifejackets, kids, chairs, and anything else we want to take to the beach from our lake house in the bed which is about 800 pounds. My truck is to heavy to put them in because we have to get in water up to the seat bottoms to get them afloat! I will never even ride in the ruff as hell rhino and mule!
Posted by: squirtbottle
I stand corrected, i was confused. Does the rhino have all-wheel drive or 4 wheel drive, 2 totally differnt things. the ranger still kicks ass! I am 14 and take it mudding all the time. I am the ultimate people mover with my friends. I ride with 500 cc and bigger and they cant even keep up
Posted by: robertnol
The ranger is faster the rhino only hits 35mph because of the cdi the ranger hits 41mph. Not only is the ranger faster but its beater for work and for play. I have a rhino good for trails but not so good for pulling and hauling. Now a freind of mine has a ranger better for pulling, hauling, trails, faster, and alot bigger. Now if i were you go for the ranger.
Posted by: BamBamRhino
Rhino would be the winner hands down. The polaris is better for work and mule is a pig and the arctic cat is good but too wide. The Rhino is the best in the bunch. I work on a Military Base and we use them all except the Rhino and the cat. Thats why I bought a rhino... All are good in their zone... some zones are smaller than others. My opinion the Rhino covers the largest of them all.
Posted by: BamBamRhino
That 6x6 is machine. I have not heard a bad thing about them. The big reason I bought the Rhino was because it has a "play" aspect to it. My belief is to each his own. Every thing has it purpose.
Posted by: BamBamRhino
The winch is a good deal becasue if you get stuck you will not get it out. Run ITP's and you will never get stuck. Anyway I haven't I like all the side by sides. On my website I am modding my Rhino and I will have a good pile of links for those looking to accesorize your ride. I am not selling anything just helping those who to pimp their ride. ANy way I am not advertising but I am just trying to help others out. If you have some thoughts you can put them in my forum. Check it out and if you have a good accesory link let me know and I will post on One bad rhino . com. Also I put a link to a company that has made a Rhino roof like no other!!! You have to see it. I will not by a roof until I can afford it. 4 55 watt halogen light CD player and speakers and it is made just like the tailgate. I like the material becasue it won't fade or crack..

Obviously you have never driven a Rhino.
Posted by: Barbara
I have the Rhino 660 & it is not slow.
Posted by: Barbara
My Rhino goes at least 41 as well. I have no idea where you got they are so slow. I go to Lake Murray to play in the mud & trails & I have never even seen a Ranger out there past the gates. I have seen several Rhinos though. I guess the Rangers stay on the farm or something.
Posted by: Barbara
The only problem with trails is that most are too narrow for the Rhinos. The trees sometimes get in the way of the roll cage as well. That is the reason they don't stay up. Not because they are slow. They are a lot of fun anyway.
Posted by: Barbara
I am sure that Yamaha will keep up with Ranger on their 07 Rhino as well. The sxs are fun and I am partial to the Rhino because that is what I own & have Driven. I have been in an older Ranger that was really rough riding & slow. I am sure they have improved with time though. I have had the Rhino in the dunes at Little Sahara & in the trails & mud at Lake Murray. I am very pleased with the way it handles. And believe me it is not slow by any means.
Posted by: Barbara
I guess then that three Rhinos beat the Ranger. I am sure the rest lacked driving skills. Just Kidding. I might have to go test drive one of the new Rangers. I plan to sell my 4 wheelers for another sxs. It just might be a Ranger , Who knows.
Posted by: Barbara
I did check out that site. Thanks for posting it. Where would the sxs ralley be held?
Posted by: Barbara
I have heard they are over ten thousand. I don't know if that is correct, That is just what i was told.

Well...i just took delivery of my brand spanking new 2006 Ranger 6X6...700 EFI.
That thing is a beast...a mudslinging, turf chewing SOB.
I would have never imagined that an RUV could have that much torque. I was advised by the dealer to make sure and put a winch on it because if by chance in did "stick it"...it would be a challenge to pull out.
44 mph top speed...but, I'd like to see more. Any ideas?
I think we are gonna' go Rhino hunting this weekend! Or, maybe a go looking for a Gator to wrestle with.
Posted by: PatHayes
But...one question...she smelled a little hot on the first run. Exhaust burning off residual oil from the manufacturing process?
Smell has sense improved. The unit only had .5 hours on it when i took delivery.

It's funny that all of you claim the Rhino will do 60-65 mph with CDI & clutch mods. I have a Ranger XP 4X4 with a Sportsman 700 CDI and a Hot Seat roller clutch kit and have WHIPPED both of my friends Rhinos with the same mods as your talking about. I always win in a strait line drag against them. I admit the Rhino's do handle way better, but they cant tow/haul near as much or the third person. Anyway, the reason the 60-65 mph is so funny is the fact that I can outrun them and the county cop that lives next door has me on radar at only 55mph. GO FIGURE!!!! You see I install these mods for people for side money as I am a certified ATV technician and I have yet to see the mods you listed add 30mph to ANY side by side top speed.
Some people will believe anything, but I dont buy into the YAMAHA hype. If you really want the fastest side by side get the Prowler, 58 mph off the floor.(still lacks the working ability of the Ranger) Look at the numbers on a radar and they will tell the REAL story.
Posted by: 06predss
You sound like every other Rhino owner I have ridden with and beat. I will give you credit for better handling and easier to ripp up the trails, but I havent ridden with a Rhino that will beat my Ranger XP in a strait line drag. You said you owned a 02 Ranger so you know which is faster. That cool and all, but they didnt have a 700EFI Ranger in 02'. I am not putting you down cause I like the Rhino. I havent raced YOURS, but I have 4 friends that have them modded pretty good and they cant touch me in a drag down a Georgia dirt road. We were pretty close till I installed the Hot Seat custom team roller clutches. We were all surprised at the power they put to the ground. I say we get on the show pinks and settle it.lol
Posted by: icenineiv
Honstly I'm no fan-boy and I don't care which is better, But I just got the a new Ranger 6x6 700 EFI and that thing has taken everything we've thrown at it so far. It's a very fun very hard working machine and I highly recommend it.
Posted by: icenineiv
PatHayes I got that smell my first few hours with the machine but it goes away.
Posted by: Ductape
Got the Ranger now and it's a great workhorse, but not so much fun.
The Rhino on the other hand (had one before the Ranger)- less than $500 in a CDI and clutch and 60 mph. Quads look out on the trail! The Rhino handles like a sports car and will run with the quads all day long.

What about that Arctic Cat Prowler that came out this year, how's that makin'out? I know it's got a few things about it that the Rhino doesn't...like that air/water tight storage container under the hood, 14" wheels, cup holder's and a bigger bed I think. Is the bed bigger on the prowler?

just wait now with ranger hitting 50 stock for 07 and they are supposed to realease the sport version sometime in the next few months according to a few different magazines. also the ranger has participated in its first big race and took forth out of 16 side by sides 15 being rhinos.that means he beat 11 rhinos and that is good concidering the odds 1-16 against all rhinos

I agree it seems that most people always think sxs are slow but then get them on a trail behind us and see how hard they work to keep up even if there machines go 60+ they still have trouble, only on the straight aways or sand dunes does it turn the other way on keeping up but that is fine by me. I know sxs are just getting started and have even heard accounts of them passing atvs on the big desert stlye races.

by no means will a stock side by side be able to keep up with a fast rider on a sport quad in the dunes.
we just picked up a ranger.....and it goes to the dunes this weekend!!!
if you read that again you will see I said that the atvs go faster in the straight aways and sand dunes I was able to keep with them on a 07 ranger they were ahead a little ways which didnt matter I hated the roosts anyways most of them kicked up sand so high you didnt want to be to close.and here is some vids of a rhino I believe:

lol maybe thats what you think I can say that the video I posted only showed the rhino but there was a ranger there and he took fourth out of 16 all the others were rhinos

I have had the Rhino in the dunes at Little Sahara & in the trails & mud at Lake Murray. I am very pleased with the way it handles. And believe me it is not slow by any means.
I own an older ranger 2002 and can say after riding a 07 I really want to upgrade mine does tend to be a little ruff sometime due to the straight axle in the rear, you cant beat an IRS system.
With my little upgrades I can run 43 fully loaded with 6 people, 3 front and 3 rear. I have the white spring and 26 inch tires on my 500 ranger my belt is slipping a little and I think if I upgrade to the better belt I should get about 46 fully loaded

along with popularity, comes the aftermarket, for which the rhino has a huge one.
Well I believe the rangers are giving the rhinos a run for there money this ranger is the one that took fourth at the race against a field of 16 all others were rhinos.:

below is the quote that was with this ranger pic:
Polaris Ranger Racer
Polaris Race Ranger, built for West Coast Polaris Dealer Representative Matt Parks. This is the fastest UTV we have driven. It has the latest in Off Road Racing Technology and is Score and BITD race legal. Look for its debut at the Best In The Desert Race at the end of October. DragonFire Racing wishes Matt the best of Luck at the race and will be waiting at the Finish line for his successful arrival. Look for this DragonFire Racing Race Ranger at the races and victory circle. Todd Romano

the digital dash was awesome I could see what rpms I was going and at what speed it was great It made a big difference in how it felt to drive it I was more aware of what was going on and can say at waynoka the 07 got around in 2 wheel stock tires and averaged 35 across the dunes without any trouble. I still had peddle left but it was not my ranger so I stayed easy on it.

well you cant go wrong if you have both it would definatly give you a better view of what works best in what situations. If I was to buy a new one I would go with the 07 and I hear that in the next few months Polaris is going to unveil a sport ranger I saw an article in dirtwheels also on that.whatever you do stay away from the straight axle ranger it is fun and has a place but nowhere near the comfort of the IRS.
Have you looked at the other sites I recommended Barbara I know that they have alot of info and also we are planning a sxs rally that should be great I have already started contacting possible sponsors.

I checked out the 07's before I bought as well. I thought that the digital dash was nice, but for over 1000 dollars for what I paid for the 06... I will wait until a digital dash comes on the aftermarket scene for less than half that.
other than the dash, I didn't notice any differences between the two, other than the speed limiter on the 07 is up 6 mph to 50
I would have to agree with you on that however I have an 02 so if I upgade I just as well go with the 07

well I believe that depends on what all you get , (color, style, limited edition) you know the fancy ones they charge more for.

hey goats fan when you were rockin the ranger @ lil sahara, were you running the stock tires, or did you have aftermarkets on there? Stock
what psi were you running @?? started out full pressure then dropped down to about 5, worked well both ways
I'll make fun of your rams, cause everybody makes fun of me for being a Faiders fan
BTW, I see u r also over @ PRC!!!!
thats alright , and yea that is where I got started on the forums, I am on over a dozen now and still adding to my list. I get info from all of them and then try to pass it on.

but that is the funny thing about posts from the rhinos they say how narrow there rhino is and how easy it turns
when the irony to this is that a ranger has a smaller turning radius and the rhinos that get larger then stock tires and add wheel spacers are making it about the same width as the ranger
so when people are preaching mines better because I can go into tighter trails (ok, so) I didnt buy mine to find small trails to see if I fit. most of the trails rangers dont fit on are also posted no UTVS which means even if you can fit you are not supposed to.
so instead of us fighting over mine is better because we need to team up and have them make and maintain more sxs friendly trails( Dont you think?)

thanks, we all got what we got for our own reasons but we all have to agree there are to many people out there trying to take what we love to do away from us and if we mess around with each other on stuff that is fine but we have to take a stand on our sport and keep the trails open and work for more and better trail management.
it shouldnt matter whether we drive a mx, utv, atv, atc, jeep, or even a suzuki
Posted by: ramsfan
here, here well said now that we have that off of our chest lets talk about what we need to do to keep these trails open for the future of our sport.
we need to get involved in more local and national clubs and do trail cleanup, and even help with funding for more trail systems. If everyone stepped up in every state and did something to help in their state then it would open up some of these tightwads eyes as to the true value to the state that the offroad community is.it doesnt matter what type of ohv you use if you look up any of tha many types you will find thousands of topics in each and every style. some sites even have hundreds of thousands of members and if we all combined our efforts just a little it would rock this USA of ours and show the need for more of our tax dollars being spent on more areas to ride legaly

i cant believe that poeple think rhinos are slow. one guy said a ranger xp beat like 11 rhinos. was there a handicap? i have a rhino with about 500 bucks in bolt-on parts and i ride with sport quads and 4x4 wheelers in tight new hampshire trails and keep up just fine. it accutally smokes any solid rear end 4x4 quads and some of the larger 4x4 quads. i even burn a 350 raptor in a drag until he shifts out of fourth (190 lb rider on 05' raptor 350). the ranger is a workhorse. if you want to charge down the trails get a rhino.

2. dial-a-jet kit,
3. uni foam filter kit for air intake

I read through this post with some amusement... Mines faster, mines bigger, mines turns better, yours is heavier, ya well yours is uglier!!! I don't own a sidexside because they don't interest me. I own a souped up 4x4 that can do everything adequately enough for me and go straight really really fast, and yet it's not even the best as that. But Ramsfan is right, can't we all just get a long.
Posted by: RhinoRush
I really can't believe how many people say that their sideXside is faster than someone else's in a straight line drag. WHO CARES??? I would like to know how many people bought their sideXside to drag race? I know I didn't.
Posted by: RhinoRush
They all have their strengths and weaknesses, but they are all sweet rides. It is just a matter of different flavors for different people's tastes. I looked at Rhinos, Rangers and Prowlers. I ended up getting a Rhino, for me it was perfect. The Ranger ended up not being what I was looking for, but it's still an amazing and capable machine. There are things that it will do much better than my Rhino. My Rhino will run circles around it in other aspects and those just happen to be the ones that were important to me. Competition is good, don't get me wrong. I just think that some of this "mine is better than yours" talk is plain old silly! Drive what you like and let others do the same (in peace).

I'm from Clay, West Virginia, and I know for a fact that they will let Yamaha Rhinos in the Hatfield/McCoy trails. However you have to take them on different trails.

Never mind the article above. I was answering one on the second page, and forgot it would come up here
