...Me and my wife took a spin (450lbs), and it rode solid and well. You won't win any races, but for toting around 50lbs shy of 500lbs, I was very impressed...
Above, taken from my last post.
OHHHH crappp!! Sorry for the HUGE math blonde moment ... my wife does not weigh 240lbs!! Make my weight estimation 350, not 450. Thank the Lord my wife does not read this board. Like I said, I've been really sick with some winter muck. All the medication has had me in a constant cloud. Gee, how much credibility does my Blade report have if I miss our combined, married weight est by a 100lbs. Talk about rounding up!!
I agree on the welds. They seem very sound. Not pretty, but they do the job. How picky can one be considering the price.
It's great to see the action Stu's got cooking. Stu has the power and resources to make things happen. I sincerely believe he's making a constant effort to improve his product and to stay ahead of the competition. As it's obviously important that refinement and improvement are ongoing as new karts are produced, I believe it's profoundly important that aftermarket improvements and after-the-sale service are given just as much attention.
You think Stu would have voided my warranty thinking I was tooling around with a 500 lb load, not including the ice chest full of beer, milk shakes and twinkies?

I'll check on that engine number later today.
I looked closely at the chain again. It's what I said before, a double chain ... but one. I mean, the sprocket seems like one piece, but double and the chain is one chain, but doubled. I have no idea what the advantage is, but it sure seems killer strong. I remember the other double chain setup being on opposite side and positively apart from one another. Obviously, a photo would clarify what I'm talking about. Don't have time, but will get to it.
Steve, I thrilled I won't be the only Blade owner around. I am new to the fun kart world, plus I'm not exactly Einstein when it comes to the mechanics. I'm eager to read your reports. I have nothing to compare with mine. At this point, I'm happy. Like I've said, there will always be a faster kart. I'm more impressed with wheel spinning low end torque, than 50mph. If my kart was a 35 mph kart, but could rooster tail it's way there, that excites me. My last bike was a GSXR 750. 0-60 in about 3 seconds was a much bigger rush than 140mph. Now that I have children, 0-60 in a car is about all I'm interested in.
Okay, so if the carbs seem to be the same size, though different makers, and the engines are all 150cc, what is it about the Blade that seems to be getting an extra 5-10mph (not confirmed via me)? The only thing I can see is that maybe the weight makes the difference (also not confirmed via me).
By the way, what is the engine number going to signify?
Ben, you're sitting chilly. Steve will be an excellent critic. I guess the price is not stable, but you can deal with that later.

I'm afraid to type We are all contributing to this board in one way or another. At times, we may need to contact one another for NON-revenue/business purposes. Is it okay for us to share our NON-business email and telephone information? I'm not trying to start anything, I just want to know.
Certainly, atvconnection needs to make a living. We can't expect them to offer this platform without means of supporting it. I read the rules, but they seem to lean toward not allowing the exchange of business information, not personal. Am I right?
Our string got out of hand, no doubt. The mods did what they were supposed to do. I think we all know now "who are daddy is" when participating in communication in someone elses home, and most of us have admitted to being bad boys. We move on.
It actually looks like it will be a nice day finally. I'll get those Blade engine pics to the board by the end of the day.

Sorry, busy day. Have some photos, but don't have time to post right now. A Mod sent me a private message. To more or less quote him, he said that the non-business exchange of personal information should be limited to private messages, if possible. I received it earlier today.
Wife is waiting ... later.

Hi everyone, I'm just about to buy one of the various 2 seaters. I'm in Chandler, AZ, so EastSide or ToyJunkies is close to me. East Side has the 2005 in stock, and they are claiming a higher top speed with many other changes, to get it well over 40 MPH.
I'm also close to Tuscon to pick up directly at KPX.
Is the warranty needed on these? Or are all of the problems "mis-use" as they say, and not covered?
I would like to give the dealers the busienss, but at $500 more than E-bay, its alot to pay for convenience. I haven't negotiated with either of the dealers, not really ready yet.
Posted by: RAMTechRC
I'm handy enough, so I'll probably off the local dealers a decent price and see if they want easy cash. I can fix most of the mechanical stuff, so I'll probably be pro-active and check the conenctions when I first get it. RaptorAZ, are there any AZ Specific forums for lcoal spots to run??
Posted by: RAMTechRC
Can you give me directions to Casa Grande Mountain?? I live in CHandler, so its easier for me to get there than places west of Phoenix.

whats the best place to buy a 2 seater twister?
Posted by: Vetteman
I found this forum looking for some info on the Hammerhead Twister Karts. I bought a green one about 4-5 months ago for the kids, they just run around the neighbor hood on it. I was wanting to change the wheels on it but it has some kind of funky bolt pattern. Does anyone know of any aftermarket wheels for the Hammerhead Twister? I intend to buy another one when the 250cc version comes out.
Thanks in advance for your help.

If memory serves me correctly.
The front pattern is a 4 on 110mm(same as the rear of a Honda 400EX,250R,300EX)
The rear is a 4 on 137mm(same as a Kawasaki Bayou)
If you're looking for a more common pattern for the rear, Yamaha hubs bolt right up. I'm using Raptor hubs on mine, and a buddy of mine is using YFZ450 hubs on his. Banshee and Warrior hubs should be the same as well. Used ones can be had off of Ebay for under $25.
RAPTORAZ
I think I am just going to buy the Chrome wheels from the local dealer. I had no luck finding any hubs on Ebay. Its all good though, I just wanted it to look a little better. Thanks again.

Trying to make it out of the lurker stage into actual contributer. To answer a question first. Casa grande mountain is on the sw corner of I8/I10 intersection. Get off on exit 200 and take the first right just on the other side of the loves gas station/truck stop. Loads of off roading back there. I live about 4 miles from there and drive my xterro to the mountain.
Now for some information. I spoke with Josh Harrison of KPX motorsports. He gave me a couple pieces of information.
First of all, he gave me the web site for the official factory replacement part and upgrade business for the KPX xterro. I am about to go check it out. Haven't yet. Since it is a commercial site, you'll have to email me if you want it. He said it was actually a place to buy parts from the chinese factory so the website covers more than the xterro. It is supposed to carry all things made from that factory in china. I think it is Tong Jian
Secondly, I have information and pictures of the upcoming 250cc xterro. So far they only have the prototype built and it is not in the manufacturing stage as of yet. It is completely 4 wheel independent suspension, shaft driven, water cooled 250cc. Thats really all I know. It is a large cart. I'm gonna go down there and ride it hopefully in the next couple weeks to compare it with my 2005 xterro. I posted it on my own personal web page. Since the page is only an informative page about mostly bulldogs, I assume I can post it here. My email addy is on the page so email me if you want the other parts site. (lotsabull.com) click on the offroading tab
I will put pictures of my 2005 xterro on there as well. and as for it. I gps'd it for speed. With my 235lbs it went 34mph. My 112lb wife got it to 38mph. This was on dirt. So far my main complaint is the seats aren't made for someone as heavy as me. They haven't broken but when I ramp the beast, the seats scrape the bar behind them and have put a tiny pit in one bar not to mention the loss of paint. I had to put foam on the roll bars behind the seats.
One last comment. I know of a web site where the carter 2 seater xtv sells for 1924. If it is truly faster and better than the xterro, maybe you guys should consider it? I looked at hopsterguy's and the one seater (which sells for 1800 on this site) looked huge compared to the xterro. Is the xtv more desirable or what? They are apparantly the same price now. I would be happy to furnish you with this site as well if you want to buy a carter xtv. Their talons are 2505 with free shipping BTW.
Hope this adds some info for you guys. Your knowledge has been very helpful to me so hopefully I can help as well.
Heathcrom
I checked out your site and looked at those pictures, thanks for posting them. It does look kinda big. I think I will wait until we can see them all before I buy a 250 cc cart . I still wish we could buy accessories for the ones we have, mainly wheels.

Ps. I like those bulldogs.

Hammerhead Busted!
I got home today and the kids told the Hammerhead would not back up anyway I checked it out and the nut fell off of the final shaft that holds the reverse assembly on. I looked through the owners manual and it does specify the size or the pitch of the nut just part #. Do any of you guys have any idea what size and pitch this nut would be? I hate to try and order one from the local dealer it would probably take month and probably not be the right one.
your help would be greatly appreciated.
Vetteman
Ps. Anybody with a Hammerhead? Better check every nut and bolt on it. I am tired of everything falling off of this one.

Since it is new, I would guess it is just out of adjustment,
However,
to get a look at what it looks like go to the dazon website here:
pdf reverse download
click on the one about reverse,
good luck

I had problems with my reverse (Hammerhead Twister). The nut fell off the final shaft I replaced the nut, but when I put it in reverse all it did was chatter. Mine is still under warranty so I took it to the shop. Also I did finally get some chrome wheels and they are installing them also. I will post some pictures as soon as I get it back.

Got my girl a KPX for Christmas to replace her yerf dog POS. Finally finished putting it to gether today and took it out riding. What an incredible differance between the kpx and the yerf dog. The turning radius is was halved going to the kpx. The ride is way smoother. Better ground clearance. And the BIG differance Reverse. So far I am really impressed with this new cart.

We took our cart out for the first time after the breakin period on MLK day and had a similar problem. After hitting a bump in the road the chain went slack and the cart won't move. On closer inspection the output shaft from the gear box is sagging. It looks like something inside the gear box snapped.
Has anybody done any work to thier gear box yet or are these "black boxes". I have been trying to get ahold of KPX but thier tech support has been out sick.

You're the first I've heard of having any gear box problems. So I'd say it's an isolated problem.Let us know what KPX does for you. Hopefully a new Kart will be the outcome.
I tore apart the gearbox yesterday. Turns out my daughter snapped the output shaft inside the gearbox. KPX is only going to replace the parts that broke inside the gearbox, and of course they are only going to replace parts and not labor. And they are only going to replace parts if they decide it wan't from abuse.

I am very dissapointed in KPX. At this point I wish I had gone with the Blade or just waited for one 250 units to come out. After spending 2 weeks trying to get ahold of KPX'x customer service, and sending them pictures, part numbers, drawing numbers everything somebody that had never seen a gearbox would need to get me a new part what happens? Their technical expert sends me the wrong part and then says I gave him the wrong information and I have to pay for shipping to get this part back to him before he will send me the correct part.
After a couple hours on the phone with David the owner and sending him all of the emails I had sent to AJ, he admits they screwed up and will get me a new shaft. That was a week ago. Still no shaft . UPS ground from Tucson to here is 1 day.
It has been a total of 3 weeks now that I have been trying to get this part.
The cart seems to be pretty decent ( I still think it is way more robust than our yerf dog) unfortunately KPX as a company seems to have some serious problems.

FINALLY talked to AJ and as soon as I mentioned the Boss on the engine

be sent to China to see if the "manufacturer would warranty it"
Rediculous.
As far as I was concerned my warranty was with KPX in the USA, not XYZ
Zhang buggy builders of China.
Good luck, after tons of promises and 6 weeks of waiting I have given up on KPX. I asked for a refund due to them not honoring thier warrenty. David flat out said NO, we do not give refunds. So I have started a small claims lawsuit against them.
Talking to the guys up at toy junkies they aren't suprised, this sort of behavior is why they do not carry them anymore.
The really sad part about this is that they do not even put thier correct corporation name on thier web site. "KPX MOTORS LLC" is not listed by the AZ corporation commision. Thier correct name is KPX LLC. and Micheal Kanko is thier Owner and Statutory agent. It took way to long and to many phone calls to find this information if they were a company that wanted to do honest business.
If the courts back me maybe I can get get one of the blade buggies, Stu at least seems to know what customer service is. Meantime while waiting for the courts to act I have a $2200 pile of scrapmetal cluttering up my garage.

Brand new in the market and looking for some info. We have some property that has some ATV trails on it and I am looking for something that I can take some kids with me to ride. The trails have some pretty long hills.
I have seen the Twister Hammerhead at Galyans and I really like it. However, there is all this talk of the liquid cooled 250s coming out...but I am looking for a 2 seater with as much power as possible. I have $3500 to spend.
I have read the entire thread could someone summarize the options for me with some links?
Thanks.

Just got off the phone with Dazon...they say March for their 250cc/18hp cart and about $4000. Top speed will be about the same so I assume they are leaving the CVT alone.
Any word on if Blade is coming out with a 250cc and when? I am in the market this spring and will have two people in the kart with some long hills in my trail system...

I have a Prairie 360, which doesn't ride to harsh, but it still kills my back.
I can't spend $8000+ for a Ranger or Rhino so I may look into a buggy type vehicle.
There is a dealer near here that sells Twister Hammerheads, but they don't alow test drives.
Thanks.

I have a 150 cc hammerhead bought new in 2005 for my wife and little girl to ride. We take in up north and its a little gutless in climbing biut it can on hard surfaces. Top speeds are 40 mph.
However, we just got back from the sand dunes and it would not climb any soft sand. However was a blast on the flat areas.
The gearing is not up to par for the low end torque. There maybe some add ons you could do or clutch mods.
I am trying to find a good fabricator to hoist a nice 600 cc snowmobile engine into the chassis. Any takers?? I saw a hammer head twister modified at the dunes a with a 500 cc motor and suspension upgrades and it ripped, unbelievable power in all speeds, nothin but a 2 seater side by side wheelie machine, That's me! and hopin to get it done soon. Please respond on any input.

I test drove one of the peirspeed 250 carts, was very disappointed, the suspension does not move, I guess the shocks are just for looks. It really was slow, which suprised me. I ended up buying a 2005 twister hammerhead, It already has the larger valves and pushes 13HP without mods. With the pipe and intake from eastsidems, they claim I can gain another 3HP putting it at 16, almost the same as the 250 carts claim to be.

I emailed a few people on EBAY that bought the Explorer 150cc karts. Replys were about 50/50 .
Some people liked em, some had problems. I bought one about 2 months ago here in Dallas.
It's a good kart if you drive it normally and don't dog it. I did break one of the front ball joints on
the steering strut. Screws will not stay in the headlights, but other than that it runs fine.

Thanks for the report...
On the Sunl and Explorer karts....I would have to say "avoid them". They are built fairly well, and have a good engine. But they do have one major design flaw. The front shocks come on the softest setting. The weight limit is 350 lbs per manual. If you're over 200 lbs, or you put 2 good sized adults in this kart without cranking the front shocks up, you'll pop the upper ball joint at the top A-arm. When you bottom out the front shocks, the edge of the steering strut hits the A-arm creating a lever effect, that breaks em. I broke 2. I weigh 260 lbs. I adjusted both front shocks to the max stiff setting so they don't bottom out and have not had problems since. I think it's a good kart for the money, but if you dog em, you'll have problems. You can pick em up on EBAY for $1499 + shipping and several places around Dallas sell em for $1599-1699.

My vote is for the new twister hammerhead 250. I've had mine for a couple months now and have been pretty impressed. It ran circles around my friends blade 250xt. To be fair to blade, we were riding mountain trails - a lot of climbing and blade is geared high for top end and doesn't have too much for low end torque. The hammerhead excelled across the board on the steep mountain trails. Both were a blast in the lower desert (flatter trails). One thing to note - both buggies got stuck in the sand when we veered off into a wash.
All in all though, so far, I am very pleased with my Hammerhead purchase.
Posted by: kokocrazy
We had the Blade up to about 45 (2 adults) but I know it can go faster. Needs a few adjustments. That figure should be closer to 50. Like I said, the stock blade 250xt is geared real high (too high if you ask me) Will definately have to re-gear this one as soon as the parts are available. The Hammerhead doesn't have a speedometer but it had know trouble keeping up and then some. Impressive climber and good top end. Next time out I'll clock it with my gps. So in answering your question, with no mods I experiencing 45 - 50mph
Posted by: kokocrazy
Couldn't find it.
Bought my first buggy on ebay CHEAP. Cheap in quality too but all in all the darn thing was bullet proof so to speak. The company was local so I was lucky in that every time something would break (very harsh riding terrain) I could just walk into their warehouse and get what I needed. Not so with a lot of others. Lot of horror stories. Lot of people out there with broken buggies and no parts available to fix so do a lot of research.
Posted by: kokocrazy
Dang! The 150 twister must kick a-- if there's not much difference between it and the 250. Comparing my HH250 to my Xterro 150 (both stock) there's a huge difference. Particularly if I have a passenger.

Hmmm just got a Silver Sahara 150 from xpmoto from E-bay, Ordered a Red burner 175cc delivered to my door, that is supposed to do 55mph under the right conditions? Had to go an hour to pick it up in another city, and on the way home with it in the back of my pick up we met those conditions lol... Now that it is together it goes about 32-36mph, also I think the engine is a 150cc not 175cc as advertised. The dealer is making all kinds of excuses for everything and blaming the shipping company for not delivering it to my door and takes no responsibillity at all, I even e-mailed him and explained to him that he advertised the shipping and I paid him for it, so he should give me the $100.00 back that was extra to my door, when I called him I get his fax machine? He had a high 96% customer satisfaction rating which I suspect he is his #1 customer if you get my drift. The negative reviews posted said exactly the same thing as me. Now for some good news I like the frame/chassis construction, it is easy enough to assemble even though instructions are minimal to say the least. I think once i mod it a little bit and get the power up it will be fun for me and my children. Do not believe every thing on E-bay this is my first and probably my last transaction, but I will wait and see how they respond. Caveat Emptor

Hi All, Just got a Kinroad Sahara 150cc single seater a month ago and have been following this thread even longer. Anyhow the kart is way under powered on hills as you all know so I want to get some more low end on it, dont care about more speed. So I called Eastside and talked to a Scott there about the HP kit some of you have mentioned on here. It sounded pretty good but how have any of you been making out with this setup? It seems a little pricey so would like to hear some more feedback befor I spend the bucks.. Scott also said they have a cam kit for these karts now, anyone tried that yet? Im in central Michigan and ride a lot of hills thats why I want more low end, also I bought the single seater because its 49" wide and ATV trail legal here 50" or less so that made the double too wide. Ill be looking to hear from anyone with any coments,. Thanks, Charlie

sorry to change the subject
hi there names david from melbourne australia.
recently purchased a twister hammerhead 2005 model for about $2500 australian. i have read through the forums and agree with some of the comments regarding the carts power. It is a bit dissapointing and recently have been looking at a replacment engine preferrable an automatic. say about a 300cc. hoping an atv engine could fit without too many headaches. has anyone attempted anything like this?? if its impossible for an engine change how else can i get some more power out of a 150cc motor. other than the exhaust. i found 2 sites check these out
www.turbonator.com or
www.tornadoair.com
anyone used these parts? would they work on a twister? is this possible?
although i reckon the cart is well built, jumps well, and good fun but that extra 100cc would be perfect....

thats the 1 thing i really dont understand. higher jetting. and gutting the pipe. ive read through the forum (took about 2 hours) and couldnt get any detailed explination. thanks raptoraz and hopsterguy

just brought a pod filter for my twister. should i remove the air box completely and run the ducting straight to the carby with the pod on the end.
or just remove the stock air filter and put the pod on the end of the duct.
which would work better
thanks

cool thanks for your help
the other thing i really dont understand. higher jetting. and gutting the pipe. ive read through the forum (took about 2 hours) and couldnt get any detailed explination. can i mod the exhaust without buying a new one from the states being from australia and all.

Well, I bought a 2005 1/2 SunL 150cc (2 seater) with all the new upgrades for my wife and son, was thinking about the 250cc for myself after seeing how this one performs. Of course I had to test it myself to make sure it was safe for my wife and son BR>
This thing is way under powered as everyone stated. In the loose sand you'll instantly begin loosing speed and be lucky if you can maintain 10 MPH depnding on how loose and deep the sand is.. Today I took my son out on a 15 mile round trip through the ORV trails (by my house) and blew the drive belt just before I pulled in the drive way, wow was I lucky that didnt happen way out on the trails. Keep in mind this was only my 4th ride.
If your expecting a radical dune buggy, forget it but if your looking for something to run on hard trails and just cruisng around, you wont be sorry. For the money (I only paid $1300 NEW) there is alot of machine here and with the upgrades on the new models, its well worth the money.
I would be curious to know who carries high performance parts for these things? With some tinkering, there is potential here and a little more power would make this a nice performance machine. I would suggest some looser shocks, it will beat you to death on a bumpy road.
If I could post pictures I would show you what this new upgraded buggy looks like, its one very tough looking machine, especially with the larger tires.

I have been watching this forum for quite a while. You guys have proved to be a wealth of information. I am ready to purchase a buggy, and am wondering if anyone has tried the 2005 KPX 250cc Teranex. It seems that the KPX model got good reviews from you, but I am a little worried with a brand new setup (250cc).
Posted by: Dukke68
A Question to both Steve & Joe:
Both of you have mentioned that you have recently (within the last 6 months) purchased a Blade from Stu. Please let us know how these machines are performing, especially Steve who owns multiple buggies. I am also contacting Stu to discuss the Blade machines. I look forward to hearing your reports and comparisons.
Thanks,
Kevin

Does anyone know if the Titan II 250cc Kart is any good? I keep waiting for Twister to come out with their 250cc model but have not seen any mention of it in a while. Thanks
Hello everyone, I new here. I was reading another fourm the other night and TJ Powersports is going to be releasing the New 250cc Twister Hammerhead sometime in June. I was wondering, TJ had replaced our 2004 motor in our cart with the new 2005 motor, seems alot different, like there is a larger cam, it really sounds alot different. They sent out the new airbox kit and i put it on. My problem is that out of the hole it is a total dog. My sister in-law has the single seater, and we have the 2-seater. Before she would beat us, from the start with no problem and always win, with never catching up to her. If we are going about 10 mph and floor it, it takes a little to catch her but we end up passing her, and that has never happened before. The problem is that it would never be this slow out of the hole before. I was told that they kept the same 2004 carb on, and it seems to be starving for gas. We have adjusted the carb. Is there a differents between the 2004 and the 2005 carbs. They also put on the new reverse gear, would that make the difference?. I am going to order the eastside pipe and jet, or should i just change the jet. What size would work the best. The pipe is the 2004. I really do beleive it needs the full upgrade.
Thanks for all of your help.

Does anyone know if Carter has a 250 comming out... and does the twister hammer 250 have the mods of the 05 model 150's? ie the snorkel thing, rims, console, ect? i see that both kpx and twister use a drive line type to power the rear axle.... is this better or worse then the single/double chain setups on a solid axle? I am in the military and consequently dont have alot of money so i will be saving for a while for the twister 250 if it has the new mods. Also has this 250 engine been tested, ie is it going to have the same piston problems as the 150's i read about earlier in this thread?? any help on these questions will help me out... thank you much... What 650 are you getting? If you don't mind my asking, where and how much?

Ok, I just bought a 05 Twister for oh no reason really. It is not near as powerfull as my Rhino or quad, but I expected that.
I read this whole thread also, someone give it to me simple, what is the best mods to make, and where to get them?
I bought the silver edition, it has rearview mirror, chrome rims, it is a pretty nice kart. It also have a nicer muffler than stock,
is it ok, or does it need to go?
Thanks

We took this out and ran it this weekend. I liked it, I would love more power. I dont care about the money really if i can make it nice
and powerful?

How does it run?
Is that a spedometer up there?
I noticed the british cars have digital speedo's wonder where you get those.
I am going to drop off our new Twister Silver edition, this next week and have them port and polish the intake and exhaust valves, and attempt to
put in a oversized piston, I wish I could impove the CVT?
I am also going to order the new 650 cart as soon as I can get one, that looks fun...

Hi all
I am new to this forum. I live downunder in Australia and am on the verge of buying a Twister hammerhead and have a few questions.
Firstly I have read all the 33 pages. What a read!!!!
Now one of my main reasons for getting a buggy is to do some dune riding with my kids. How do these things go on the sand. I know they are not the most powerfull machine put onto 4 wheels but do they go ok or will I be getting stuck more than not. Last thing I want to do is cough up the dough then find it won't do what I mainly want.
Thanx in advance

Hey all...First post, and first time kart owner(off road anyways).
Just had 74 Motorsports (CA) drop off my new Twister HH 2 and a Polaris Trailboss for my wife. Picked them up a few days ago for $8k OTD with tax, license, tile, etc. Not bad considering that the Twister was the Silver LTD one with the extra goodies, and the Polaris just came off the truck.
I would like to thank everyone here who has put in the wrench time on these things and helping out new owners with the decision making process with upgrades and kart choices. I know we made the right choice after looking at a few and realizing that the Twister seems to be the best built of the bunch.
First thing I did when I got the thing this morning was check the fluids, strap my 2 1/2 year old in, and took off around the neighborhood. He had a blast, as did I. First impressions: they did a lousy job tightening everything down. After about 5 minutes of the rack, gas tank, and mirror rattling we had to park it. As was stated earlier in this post, I too had to go through and re-tighten the cage, rack, rear suspension, and much, much more. Thats ok, this thing is SWEET!! Already put in my order for the pipe/intake/jet upgrade, and am dying to get this thing briken in. I spent half the day just figuring out what I can do to this thing. As for the Polaris....no plans for it right away.....Im not the one riding it. Then again, after seeing whet Slowrider did with a few extra Polaris parts, I just might have to get the wife something else!

Hey Cuz, nice post...I too have the same kart (as far as I can tell anyway) I just bought it but who knows how long it sat before I bought it.
When you say you blew the drive belt, my eyebrow went up. Is that in the transmission? Reason I ask is because I have a chain. I'm not a mechanic and don't mean to sound like a moron. I'm just worried now that this may happen to me. What other problems have you had.
So far on mine, the third time out the drivers side rear fender fell off. The weld broke. Only other problem is that it bogs down when you first give it gas, then clears right up and goes like hell.
Thanks to all who may have info to share.

I just purchased a Twister Two seater. It is the latest model with all the goodies. New this month is the body panels that wrap all the way around the sides, moved turn signals, power port on the dash, and I don't know what else. Oh...chome aluminum wheels and the Bimoni(sp?) Top. Is is really a hot looking little machine. I have been reading over this whole thread and I don't see any mention of aftermarket clutches or modifications. I want to increase the take-off speed. It really seems like you have to get the RPM's way up there to get the kart moving. Do the performance pipe, intake and jets make that big of a difference? Slowride...I am really impressed with your sick overhaul of your twister. I am sooooo impressed and would love to do that to mine but I do not have the time or patience to take on such an ambitious project. Back to my question, Is there an aftermarket clutch that will engage a little quicker? And the other question, Does the performance kit really help these engines out?

hi, i am new, and i am looking into buying a 2005 twister hammerhead 150cc go kart. I also like the looks of the new 250cc kart. It has a direct rear drive shaft, instead of a chain. i read through this entire thread, but still would like to know how a Twister would climb a steep hill, and drive through some rough stuff. Thanks!

The new Yellow CrossFire 150 at Sam's Club is awesome! Great suspension travel of 9" in front and over 7" in the rear. It has padded seats and a 4 point harness and the 150cc Honda style engine. It is designed like the sand rails and not like all the other Chinese karts with little suspension travel. Price is only $1800 but does not have reverse, look at it at www.tpg-info.net . A similar one sold by Baja Motorsports at Pep Boys has reverse and is about $2400. Any body else have either one of these?

I own an 04 blue hammerhead which I am fixin to put a pipe and intake kit on.It is supposed to even it up with my 05 silver one.I am a bit of a speedfreak and love to slide, jump etc. These things are great! They aren't blistering fast, but plenty fast for the riding they were intended for. They jump good, slide excellent, even on concrete. The only thing I have to complain about is the take-off.But I'm not drag racing them (yet) so I guess it ain't a big deal.Top end they run plenty fast, especially for trail riding.I am also going to buy a canvass enclosure for my two. There is a place here local making them.I can't wait to try em out in the snow this winter.

I'm thinkin about buyin a thrashed twister and installing a Banshee motor.Any thoughts???
Posted by: moparman63
The dealer I got my 05 from said he could get the kit.I don't know where, but now that I have actually ordered some stuff from him and have seen how hard it is to get anything from twister,i doubt I will ever get it.I am going to give tjpowersports a call and see just what the heck a guy has to do in order to get parts for these things.I haven't had any engine issues,I just have a bad ignition switch, which I hear is a common problem.I love these things if I could just get some stuff so that both were running again.

I fired my 2 twisters up the other day for the first time in cold weather.Man,it took a long time for them to warm up.The silver 05 would idle great just didn't run real good for a while. The blue 04 took a long time just to idle decent, and it never did get to a point that I didn't have to feather the throttle a little. Are these carts known for being pretty cold-natured???It was like 15 or 20 dgrees outside. The next day, with the carts in my garage, they fired up great.

A dealer here has the 250 Twister, and also a 250 called a Rocket. They say the rocket will run circles around the twister in basically everything.I haven't been back to test ride one yet,but I plan to.I'll let yall know what I think. The twister distributor in Dallas told me not to spend the money to upgrade from my 150 to a 250 cause"there wasn't much difference, other than the IRS".There's my 2 cents.lol

I just purchased 2 of the Crossfire Go Karts from Sams Club and I am heading back to grab one more. These are a great gift for the kids, at lest thats how I convinced my wife to let me get the 2 I have. They are plenty fast, not too loud and have an awesome suspension system. I would recommed these to anyone interested in an awesome kart that is well worth the money. Like I said, I have 2 so far and am planning on getting another today before they are all gone. Happy Karting!
By the way, my kids are 8 and 3, guess you know who I really bought these for!!!!!!!!

First post here, so here goes...
Anyone know anything about the sandstorm / sand storm karts on EBay? I just won an auction and will be taking delivery of a 250cc sandstorm kart in a week or so. Got it for $2300 shipped. My father-in-law got a Twister 150cc for $3k earlier this summer, so I figure even if I gotta sink a grand into this kart, I'll still be money ahead. I'll make sure to post here with pics and what-not when it comes. But at $1800, it'll be tough to beat. Who knows, if it works out well, I might just become a distributor for these things and make an upgrade package...
I was also thinkin, there's a belt going from the engine to the transmission, right? So, why couldn't you just rig up, say, a Yamaha Blaster engine with a belt drive instead of a chain and use that for power? Or even swapping in a carb off of, say, some 300cc quad? I'm gonna have some fun modding this thing...
Posted by: mudder720
Yea, it's only been a few days since I won the auction, but I'm still all antsy-in-the-pantsy about getting this thing. After reading a lot of posts here about purchasing things from shady dealers, especially those on Ebay, I feel a little more at ease. I got an e-mail back from the guy I'm getting it from, so I know he's at least a REAL person. Also, I found him in whitepages.com, and it matches the address he had posted in his auction, so that's another plus. Another bonus, I googled the manufacturer of the buggy (SunL), and discovered that pretty much any part I break or wear out, I can order directly from SunL, and not have to worry about going thru a middleman.
Hesitantly waiting in St. Louis...

Took delivery of my buggy last Wednesday, 1/4. It came fully assembeled except for the seats, roll bar, steering wheel, radiator, and front fenders. Took about 45 minutes to put it all together. Took a while to get it to fire up, but it eventually started and ran like a champ. Actually ran quieter than my FIL's 150cc buggy. Went out to his place Saturday afternoon and outran em all. A LOT better torque off the line, ran smoother, and feels a bit beefier than theirs. One of the first mods they made was to buy a set of rear shocks and put them on the front, and my front shocks were beefier from the factory than their modified shocks. After slamming into a tree attempting an exit from his creek, I bent one of the steering arm mounts on the DS strut, so when I got home, I beefed those up a lot better, as well as fabricated up a free-er flowing intake and made a new fender from some conveyer belt material I have. I also made a couple appearance pieces from some aluminum diamond plate and riveted that on, and made a couple mud guards that I zip-tied just inside the front tires. I was a little concerned about weight, but after feeling how much the mud weighed vs. how much the guards weighed, I think I'm better off. Just a few things I want to do yet. I'd like to get some 22-9-8 tires for the front for a little more ground clearance, and some 25-11-10 tires for the back for top-end and ground clearance. I think it has enough torque to handle the 3 inch taller tires. I'll just switch mine with my FIL's from his Twister (he's got 25" tires from the factory) and see how it handles it. I'll load some pics of it later today.

I have a 2003 Kasea mini dune buggy 150cc with after market exhaust and jets and K & N filter. We are going to buy a set of paddle tires and try it in the dunes. Are we waisting our money? Does anyone know if this buggy will go up small dunes? We mainly just want to be able to get over to watch some races at glamis dunes and play around the camp sites. It will be holding probably about 230-250 lbs with the 2 girls.
Thanks!
Posted by: azmamma
Thanks RaptorAZ. How does you Joyner Sand Devil do in the dunes? I was looking to buy one of those instead. Maybe I will just sell this one and get a 250cc. Ofcourse, would be nice to have a 800cc, but not right now!

Thats awesome, I have the 800cc buggy and it will barely do 50 on the gps.
They are a blast aren't they !!
