you're correct. the CHP will write you a ticket. It sucks especially going over the grapevine. It is tempting to go around all the slow trucks, but beware of the chp. no carpool lane and no flastrack either. Only the 2 right lanes.

I don't believe the fine is that high. Maybe if you have a CDL. Though you will generally get a speeding ticket as well. Happened to my friend. Doing 80, ticket was for 64. #1 of 3 lanes.
Nope.
Right lane to travel when 1-3 lanes in one direction. May move to the 2nd to right lane to pass within 1 mile. May travel in the 2nd to right lane if 4 or more lanes in one direction, or in a truck control lane.
And of course you can take left exits as needed.

If the bed itself is 16' long you shouldn't have a problem. I'm assuming it's going to be a flat bed, or near flatbed and you're going to haul then sideways on the trailer.

And you can only be in the second lane if, you are passing another vehicle, which must be done within 1 mile. Of course, if your in a heavy populated area and there are signs stating something to the effect; trucks can use right 2 lanes for the next so many miles, you are alright there too.

Im kind of confused as to the law regarding what lanes to be in when towing a trailer. I have seen guys pulling boats, atv trailers, I even saw a guy pulling a 5th wheel in the carpool lane. Is that legal?
I always thought that we had to stay on the 2 truck lanes. Is that right or am I missing something.
Thanks

I guess all those hot dogs will eventually get a ticket then.
Wife tried it once while I was sleeping coming back from a trip, boy did i rip into her, hahaha
She said she saw a guy pulling a huge 5th wheel on the carpool lane and thought it would be ok.
thanks,

Going off topic here real quick.
Im trying to buy a new trailer to haul 3 quads for now, but in months time will be buying a bigger. I would then have 2 big quads and 2 for the lil ones. By big I mean 400 or bigger. Would they fit on a 16x6.5 trailer?
thanks

yeah, I was thinking I would load them sideways. I looked up the specs on most big sport quads and the length is about 73 or so, so yep 6.5 wide will work.
thanks,
and by the way, I have to wait for my battery to charge before i can ride also.
hahaha
