I have a zr2 that ive had for a few months now. I really like it. Anybody had experience with it. I plan on taking it down to my cousins cabin in eastern kentucky to ride. I plan on putting my prairie 360 in the bed and pulling my buddies outlander on a little trailor just big enough for his atv. Will i do any harm. I plan on putting it in 3rd gear when on steep hills and slow type roads but when im on the 70 mph interstate that is flat i plan on keeping in in d so i can get better mpgs. Good idea or not. I can use a 03 tahoe if neccasary to tow them down but just wanted to use my new zr2 because i like it

Ya, so what i was thinking was right about towing. The z is really good at off roading and stuff for a stock truck. It has good flex and 4wd sytem. When i take it down to ky, ill take it on some of the old strip mine trails.

I had an 01 ZR2 that would haul 1 atv in the bed and 2 on a trailer without drama. You could really feel the weight on long up-hills, but other than that the 4.3L and tranny was easily up to the job. I left mine in overdrive on the flatter sections of highway and took it out of overdrive in the hilly sections. Never had any problems of any kind. Very good truck overall, I liked it much better than the new Colorado's, but that's another topic.

I didnt have the ZR2 but had a S-10 4x4 with the 4.3 and I pulled some pretty heavy trailers and never had any issues. Pulled a car hauler trailer loaded about 5 foot high with a old small barn we tore down and it pulled it like a champ.

You have a 4.3 in the zr2 with mine I towed a camaro to conway from Harrison arkansas it is about 120 miles with some big hills. You should not have any problem at all getting there.
I loved my zr2 and never had a problem with it. Actually the truck is hard to get stuck, but Tank ruts on military bases will do it.

I only ever got mine stuck 2 times, once bottomed out on the frame and the other time on the frame stuck sideways in a tank rut. Any other time I never got it stuck, If you have nerf bars they really protect the rocker panels from rocks and roadway edges.

You won't have any problem towing with the 4.3, leave it in 4th untill you start getting into hills, then run it in 3rd.
