The 2007 Classic is exactly the same truck as the 2006 - Both are based on the GMT800 platform and have the same LBZ engine and the same body style.
The new style GMT900's have the new LMM diesel or the 6.0 gas.

Boss picked up an '07 550 (16' bed) with the 6.0 back in January to "replace" our aging '94 F-450 460 gas. Night and day.
Not sure what to make of this mileage:
Fresno to Chatsworth, empty (reported unladden weight of a little over 10K): 65-70 10.5MPH. Return trip with a few thousand in payload, crammed full was 10.9MPG. Suppose it was some aerodynamic efficiencies loaded. Boss definitely bought at the right time. Turned over 1000 miles before being loaded. A little over 1200 when I put her to bed.
There are still a lot of commercial '07s on our dealer's lot. I saw one, maybe 2 450/550 '08s (chassis cabs only, not finished) on the lot. But you figure there's a lag between them leaving the Ford factory and going to the body companies (they carry a few Royal, mostly Scelzi, they are "local") then on the dealer lot.

It's an end of an era. If you even put a different pipe on these engines is will screw everything up. Kinda sad really. Alwell, mine has more than enough power coming from a 6.5. I still like that 6.5 for some reason. Oh ya, I can work on the 6.5!!!!!
It's a scarry time for Ford right now. They can't sell any trucks until they get software updates. There is a lot of impulse in buying an auto. The people that went into the showroom to buy a new Ford will go the the Dodge or GM showroom now.
There is more problems that are showing up on these trucks than just the flamethrower deal. Ford better start building a 7.3 "like" truck soon. I'm not a Ford man but the 6.9 and the 7.3 engines were rock solid tough. A lot of people that own these trucks use them for work. The first time they turn the key and the thing does not light, is when there is going to be some pissed off people. Pissed off people tend not to buy the truck that pissed them off in the fist place.

Didn't Dodge just recall a whole bunch of cars and trucks for a fire problems?
It matters not what brand, they all have problems ..........

With the new emissions stuff, its suppose to burn at least 4L/tank of fuel more. Yay, fuel mileage!
I was talking to a guy at the Ford dealership and he said the 6.4 isnt 1 of the those motors that you just turn the key and go. It now involves a lot more maintance (ford is always that way...lol) You and compare it like a 2smoke bike

This doesn't surprise me one bit. I just bought a 2007 GMC, and chose to go with the Sierra Classic because I didn't like the new emissions systems on the 2007.5 diesels. My dealer had both trucks, and tried to explain the difference in the new emissions to me. From what I could gather, it sounded like fuel is actually sprayed into the exhaust to superheat it, and burn the hydrocarbons and particulates. The new Fords have seven radiators under the hood to help deal with the heat the new emissions systems help build. It makes me wonder if Ford's emission system is just as complicated as GM's.
