No Disrespect, but 1/ ton's aren't really cut out to pull a decent size load. In most cases if you have a decent sized trailer (tandem axle, over 22 feet) you'll be over loaded (exceeding the GVWR) after you have all your stuff loaded into it IE: ATV's, gear, clothing, fuel, tools, food, water, Kicthen stuff, towels, Etc... I tried it and didn't like how the loaded trailer pushed the truck around and braking was not so good either... I beleive having a truck bigger than the rated load is very comforting thing. Now if I was going 30-50 miles, or all flat ground I might bend the thought some... At a minimum.... I've towed with them all... 1/2 ton w/Pull trailer and 5th wheel, 3/4 with both and 1 ton crew cab dually with a 35ft 5th wheel. The most comfortable was the dually... I'm not trying to rain on your parade at all...don't get me wrong.... 1/2 ton's can do alot, but their really not a serious tow vehicle when the load is decent in size (smaller brakes, ligher duty frame, rear-end Etc...

I have expereince with two different units. My cousin has a Coyote and I have a Tailgator.

Wind resistance and weight is everything it seems. My big honking Tailgator is nearly impossible to get to 70mph. I had to sell my Chevy 2500 with the big V8 and get into a 7.3 turbo diesel and that wont hold 70 with less than 90% throttle. I've also learned I have to run with the water tanks empty which helps also. The MPG. sucks - like 8-9. I can get 4 quads in it but its a beech with that much weight. EMpty the Tailgator weighs 7000 pounds.

Now my cousin pulls his 4000 pound Coyote like theres nothing behind him with a gas V8. MPG drops from 12 to 10 with the trailer on. Its a Much smaller trailer but the difference is unbeleivable in being able to maintaine freeway speeds.

The Coyote doesnt carry as much - 2 sport quads side by side is all.

I personally like putting one quad in the back of the truck and two in my trailer. Handles better that way.

Check out the toyhauler threads at rvdotnet. They have links and tons of advice there.

For an entry level toyhauler, we were really pleased with the Carson, but for comfort, we love the adrenaline.

Others swear by the motorhome/enclosed route.

Do your kids race at Woodland?

We had the 28 foot funrunner for a year and a half before we moved up. We used it HARD. 6-8 quads stuffed in it, 6 people and a dog, off road, sand-camping, muddy races, Oy! Everything worked for us just great except the hot water heater was twitchy. The trim was pretty cheap, but the as hard as we were, I did not want an expensive toyhauler to start with.

(now I have the kids semi-trained )

Just bought a Weekend Warrior super lite. It's a 2005 FK2100. The empty weight is supposed to be 4400, but haven't had it to a scale yet. Pulled it home with a 2006 Silverado with a 5.3 vortec. I did have a bigger rear end put on the truck (3.73 from 3.23). Didn't have any issues. Loading it up and taking it out this weekend. If you haven't gotten anything by then, I post what I thought about it. I don't own stock in Weekend Warrior or Chevy, so expect an honest review.

The original they had was 19k, but they sold it. Just happened to catch them at the right time, and got this deal. They never even had a chance to advertise it for sale. A lot of the dealers put one or two on the rv site, but then I check their websites too to see if they have anything else they haven't advertised.

Did take mine out this past weekend, and had a good time.

While I do only have a 1/2 ton, I've gotten the bigger brakes and a bigger rear end. In my situation, I'm only pulling about 6000 fully loaded. Well below the listed rating ( 10500). And good working trailer brakes are a must. I could have gotten the 3/4, but at 12mpg (without trailer) and only going on serious (over 150 miles) trips no more than 3 times a year, the 1/2 ton is working well for me.

Hey there everybody, I am about to purchase a toy hauler and was looking for some advice. I will be towing it with a 2001 f-150 5.4 v8. I will mainly use it at the Oregon Dunes and will be towing it from Olmpia Wa, meaning sealevel to about 3000ft above but mainly I-5 and state hwys. We will usually be taking 2 to 4 quads but 2 are minis. So some advise on brand, size, options, cargo room, ease of pull, your tow vehicle used, durability, and PRICE will be appreciated. Also if you need and or use torsion bars swaybars ect. Thanks ed

Thanks for the replies. My kids so far only compete in sand drags at Barlow Point in longview. My daughter might start flat track racing soon.

Hey Quadduck. Im looking for one too. Wwarrior has a supercross 18 ft ultralight, halfton cappable about 15,800, we liked it a lot , lots of options ,gas tank, awning,cd, nice, cool looking grey cabinets and what we thought was a big bathroom compared to others, the bathroom looked big enough for one of us to help our kids shower and give her lots of room to help, all with the toilet in there also .Cargo room enough for our 2 full size and 2 lt 80s.proably enough for three fulls and 1 80. we also looked at fun runners but not sure about those, got posting for help on those but none so far. Not sure on quality and resale value on funrunners.but 20 foot box on sale in chehalis for 11,900 look into it. Let me know what you find. nw cutie said carson not bad and i think shes talking about fun runner.............

Just got off of RV.net like nwcutie said to go to and they say lots of good stuff about Fun Runners. Check that site out, need to see if we can get a better deal than asking price. If anybody knows of a good price, please let me know on the 23'

Take a look at the Predator toy hauler by spirit RV. I bought one a year ago and have been very pleased with the quality and customer serviceText. two of my co-workers have an Attitude and WW.my freind with the Attitude has had major issues with the factory in getting things repaired(major things like structure). He is in the process of getting it Lemon lawed. The other one has had electrical problems because of the way they run their wiring resulting in shorts. Both problems seem to be a result of hi volume production. But best of all Predators customer service is top notch. Here is their web link. http://predatortoyhaulers.com/

I have a 24ft Funrunner that I haul around 3 reg size quads, 3 reg size dirt bikes and a KX60 along with a full size tool box and gas bbq pit. I've also been able to haul 4 Harley's (2 Road Kings, & 2 Softtails) no problem. It's gets kinda squirly when I go over 65 but thats because I pull it behind a lifted Excursion (6.0 td w/CAT tranny) with 35's. Squirly even with the torsion bars on the tongue maxed and played with weight distributing many times in the trailer. When I had my dually(7.3 d) I could go like 80 easy on flat highways. Behind my motorhome it pulls no problem except I don't go over 55-60 with it. The dealer said that the squirly issue is due to the side wall flex on my 35's on the Excursion. I'll just deal with it because I'm not changing the Excursion.

Now that I have bought a 4th reg size quad (LTR450) I can't fit everything in it w/out standing 2 quads up and I don't like doing that.... I'm looking into getting a 24ft cargo trailer since I don't really need a kitchen or restroom in the trailer. I love the Funrunner but have just outgrown it. It also nice having my garage back and being able to lock up the toys in the hauler.

This toyhauler discussion is a big one in our house. Right now we have a regular TT and are talking about upgrading to a fifthwheel toyhauler. We do not want to lose the luxury of the TT. But we want to be able to put the toys in the back of the toyhauler and not the truck. The other question is a garage or no garage. We are looking at the Keystone Raptor 3310SS, Holiday Rambler Next Level 34CK, or the KZ Sportsmen Sportster 33P. We are leaning toward the Sportmen Sportster 33P since it has a slide and a garage. We get the best of both world. And it is still short enough to fit into some campgrounds. If anyone has an opinion on any of the above fifth wheel toyhaulers I would love to hear them. Good luck on your toyhauler search quadduck..

Hey ATVrider37, we have a Raptor 5th wheel. You will not be disapointed with the Raptor. We liked it so much I went out and bought a Raptor 700R
