ryankmiller,

Regarding the credit card purchase what you are running into is a difficult person in the store. If they don't want to handle it over the phone then you can handle it by faxing them your credit card information. Just arrenge it with the store and let them know you'll fax them the info if they are worried about security. This provides them with the signature that they need and proof that you have the card. Your best bet is to first try and talk with the store manager and work it out. If that doesn't work, then call their corporate office and tell them what you are running into. They want your business and they will solve your problem for you. Don't depend on some clerk in a store.

If the company you're speaking about is northern tool, you also have the ability to purchase online and most of the time they will ship the item right to your home. If they have limits on the larger items, you should still be able to purchase online and then pick the item up at the store. No need for those extra driving trips!

As for wanting feedback about the trailer you'll do better to wait until someone who has bought one responds to your posts. Then you'll get an unbiased opinion.

Ryan,

I just cleaned up the thread a bit. I deleted my messages to you, too.

I think your out of luck getting one shipped to a store, it's factory direct ship only. Northern Tool is just the middleman selling the trailers, they would have to pay to have it shipped to their store so you would have to pay more than the advertised price. It doesn't look like a bad trailer but I wouldn't buy it without looking at it either.

I have a Triton aluminum ATV88 waiting for my dealer to pick it up from the area distributor. I have some upgrades include in the price of 1300.00 otd. This trailer is the same size as the Northern, loads from sides or rear with a self storing under the trailer ramp. It's higher in price but you pretty much get what you pay for.....

Northern may have contracted with a manufacturer to build it for them so you may not find the same thing anywhere else. If I run across any info I'll get back to you....

Ryan, I finally got my Triton ATV88 trailer yesterday, this is a nice unit. You should think about one if your still looking.....

The Northern Store in Knoxville has some trailers in stock. I am guessing it depends on the store and the area that it is in as to whether they stock any. Have seem most on the smaller ones, but believe they had one 2 place one out in their back yard area.

The person at the store really isn't pulling your leg about it being a security issue giving out your credit card info over the phone, but I haven't heard of too many other places refusing to do it. They would have no way of verifying who you are and also phone conversations are not very secure so it would be easy for somebody else to also obtain your credit card info and use it.

My family has dealt with Northern quit a few times, and everything we have bought so far seems to be very good quality.

I have narrowed down the trailer I would like to have. However, The nearest Northern Equipment distributor is like 2 hrs away and they don't carry this trailer in stock anyway.......So I would like to know who has/has seen this trailer in person? Please. I can't justify buying it sight unseen. Here is a link.

someone has to of seen one or knows somebody with one?

I am really scared to purchace it out of the catalog without seeing it first hand.

Is it sturdy? twistable like some others?

Does it feel and look like a real trailer?

I know the questions sound a little funny, but not all trailers are created equal. Mostly you can look at it and tell.

I live in MD and the closest Northern Equip. store is in VA. I called 1 or the 2 stores to see if they had them. They had to be ordered. They also said they had to be paid for before ordering. I told them that I would probably get 2 of them. She also said that I couldn't give a credit card # over the phone. SOme kind of security issues they have. I then explained to the person that it was cheeper for me to order it through them, and pick it up and I wouldn't have shipping charges of $80 a pop. She still said I needed to come down there in person to pay before they order. I then told them it was a waist of time to drive 2 2.5 hrs to the store and back 2x to pay and pick up the trailer.

I have been searching the net all over looking for anyone that has this trailer. I can't believe nobody has one. It looks like a good trailer and the price is reasonable.

As for ordering online. That was an option. However they wand $169.22 to ship it to me. I figured for that price I am willing to travle a little way to pick it up.

I did deal with some sales person on the phone, they talked to the manager and they were not willing to help me.

I called another store and the person on the phone said it was a warehouse item only and it couldn't be shipped to their store. It is shipped to your house and only ordered online.

I thought about building my own trailer. I have a decient boat trailer as a doner. The only things good on it is the tongue, and the axle, rims, springs, hangers. Basically I need to build a complete frame. I looked at tubed steel 1x3 and it was $60 for 28'

Was something wrong with my post? I got deleated.......and so did some others.

I know the first person who responded got deleated for neglecting forum rules. I didn't think I did.

no problem. I was just wondering if I posted something wrong....

Posted by: ryankmiller

Still nothing. I have searched many many times. You can go on their site and see if their is a store near you. They ship nation wide I thnk....

I figured this trailer is manufactured by someone else other than Sport star or what ever was on it. That ATV88 trailer is awsome. That is what I really want.

I did numerous searches on the name. I have found it listed $50 less than NOrthern. But it was some off the wall online store. It didn;'t have any contact info or anything. Needless to say I didn't go for it. It was listed under the same name at the other stores. Some online stores link to Northern.

I would think it is my problem, if I decide to give my info on the phone. I understand that they need proof that I am who I say I am. However when I go to pick it up I could give them that.

It doesn't really matter anyway. It seems that this item is a MAIL order only. The stores "can't" get it from what I have learned. It is a non stocked mail/internet/phone order only. Which brings me to the next thing. I can buy it over the phone and sent to my house. But, I can't buy it from the store and have it shipped there if they even offered it.

Not to knock on any of Northern's stuff. But I know for a fact that the $199 trailers they sell are very cheep. However you can't expect much for that price. You have bolts holding it together. This also conserns me with the ATV trailer. Does it bolt together also. I would hope the whole thing is welded. But, you don't know because you can't see it. And it seems that nobody owns one to even offer an opinion.

The picture looks like 5 lug.

Well, this morning I was searching through our online auction site, and I found someone selling 2 4 wheelers and the sportstar II trailer. I aske a few questions about the trailer and they were quick to reply.

QUOTE
When I was looking for a trailer, I found this one and thought it would be good for my application. I noticed that it said factory shipped, I didn't realize that the factory was in China. It came in a box and had to be completly bolted together. So I used loctite on the bolts. The steel is typical for anything that is made in china like tools and soforth. The design and usage of this trailer is outstanding. We use light atv's on it so it was fine as far as flexing. Overall it is worth the money for light duty use. There has been no issues with this trailer.

So it sounds like it may not be practical for my application (2) 750lb sportsmans. However I figured you all would appreciate an update. Here is a LINK to the auction. I am not sure if this is allowed. I hope it is because it has some really good pictures of the trailer and may answer a few questions. For instance the latest question was about the bolt pattern of the wheels. It is a 5 lug.

Bing
Did you get the sportstarII? If you did does it have a five lug wheel? Did you buy the spare tire from them? I called them and really did not have any info on weather it was 4 or 5 lug wheel.

Ya, but I want to be sure. I heard the trailer is great quailty also. Maybe bing will know.

any new information regarding the Sportstar II ATV Trailer?
I am still looking to get a trailer for 2 Suzuki Z400's and this trailer sounds great.
Do they ONLY ship it from back east.
Is there a west coast dealer, etc.
I have checked everywhere online and seen no reviews, etc.
Anyone else know anything?

Just came across your posting. We have the Sportstar II ATV trailer. It was purchased through Norther Tool and drop shipped out of state for us where we purchased the quad. We have info on the trailer on our site. The site is: www.mcturner-mct2.com/raptor.

Also, there have been some updates that we haven't posted to the site. If you want details, send an email to my husband and you two can talk. There is much to say, some good some bad. His email is: randy@mcturner-mct2.com.

Hope this helps. But overall the trailer was a good buy.

California Custom Trailer has them .. Saw them in person but I don't know .. Didn't look as sturdy as the PJ's or Carson's(sp). It is a great size... I think 71" by 109" for a double. I was nervous about the hitch and the 13" (might be 12's) rims.. .

Feedback on the smaller rim thing would be great.
