Your invoice from the truck should state the gearing, if you kept it. The gear ratios are either marked on the differential or the door jam, or at least I thought they used to be...
The towing info should be availible from your owner's manual.

Prozak, probably 3.73 or a 4:10 with the PSD. (Check out the PSD thread here if you have any specific questions or just want to BS).
One thing to note, prior to the '05 SD trucks, the 250 wasn't a good tower because of the wimpy GVWR. An F-250 CC LB 4x4 PSD was only 800 lbs shy of the GVWR off the factory floor. By being not "a good tower" is being able to tow a load LEGALLY. Unless you have a std. cab short bed, your GCWR should be 20,000 lbs. Being that you are dragging a fifth wheel, you're most likely going to blow over your GVWR while being fine on the GCWR. They have a high GCWR (same as a comparable F-350), just not a high GVWR or Axle rating.
For 2005 Ford finally adjusts the GVWR based on the vehicle configuration.
You can always give your dealer a call, or go to Ford's site. You can enter in your VIN and get information on your vehicle if you sign up for whatever their owners site thing is. Or you may be able to get that information from a local Ford dealer.

Lift the rear end. Mark the shaft as it enters the diff with a grease pencil.
Rotate the wheel. Count how many times it goes around as it rotates the shaft 1 turn.
The rotation number over 1 is your ratio. (5:1, 4.5:1, whatever)
Mark the wheel where it would be straight down to the ground to help keep track.

Hey guys , I know that somebody out there can answer this one? I just purchased a F250 SD 4x4 Shortbed With the 7.3 and the 6 Speed hand shaker. Its got the Banks exhaust with the chip and Airbags in the rear. My new Rampage 289 5th wheel is on its way and of all the times , its NOW that I start to question what this truck is rated to pull. Cart before the horse kind of thing I guess... So Im looking in the owners hand book and they have no weight category for the 7.3 diesel and i dont know what gearing I have in the rearend!! I know that this truck can do the job but I need to know if im at the limit or what ?!?!
1) How do i find out what the gearing in the rearend is short of pullin the cover and counting teeth?
2) How do I find out just what the truck is really rated to tow when towing a 5th wheel??
Thanks guys.....
