A real PSD oil change is about 5000+ miles depending on the type of driving and use cheveron Delo 10-40, IMHO thats the best diesel oil. We took apart the Cat E120 Excavator last winter and it has 14k hours on it and everything inside looked brand new i was like holy cow.

Every 3000 miles. And we use Rotella(sp?) i think. The reason for so often is because we tow alot and live on a dusty road.

BTW, we played the guys from Seattle today in a 77 year tradition golf tournament. we play there in May and here in Sept. stroke play, total points from 2 rounds. they were up 10-8 when we left Seattle, we had 14-13 today, but they won on the total, 23-22! oh, well, a lot better than their US Ryder Cup counterparts did today against Europe. You guys got stomped.

(In the early 1900's??, I dunno, that's just what the article said). the law enforcement took the 2 accused to the local jail. the paper described very matter-of-factly (without ad-libbing their own pinko spin), "There was a mob scene outside the jail and it was overtaken by the crowd. The 2 men were dragged out, castrated and hung from a local bridge". Ahhh, give me the day when newspapers just reported facts instead of trying to create news and controversy and sensationalize things like they do now.

we've already shattered Sept rain record. we've had 7 straight weeks of rain with the rare sunny break. today was awesome, clear, but a little cool maybe 68-72. 2 days ago we set a 1 day rain record. my grass is so green and I can't mow it and it's growin like crazy.
I spent the day workin on the Breeze. #$@^&* CARB!! i tried to set the float height, but it just didn't want to cooperate. according to manual, the float is supposed to be at a certain height AND the float tab is supposed to rest on the neddle valve, not push down on the valve. trying to make both things happen is impossible. i bent the crap outta the tab and it was never right. put it all together, take a spin and the thing is overflowing again, then not overflowing. runs great, just seeping gas outta the overflow.

With this rain, if it hit where your riding, the dust will be ostalavista babyI was watching the news. Sacramento got hammered. 6 inches in the basement of the capital. A medical parking garage, 3-8 feet of water. Some places in Sacramento had 2" of rain in 10-15 mins. Here, our temp dropped from 91 degrees Friday to 69 yesterday. I'm not sure what it hit today, but not much more then that. Only thing about the rain is, the weeds will take off when the weather warms up againime for some Round up

Also heard on the news that the higher elevations got 1-3 inches of snow. It never did rain here today though. But we went to Sonora today and it rained from Mariposa all teh way to Sonora..

Creator, friend's of ours has a F350 PSDhat they pull a 38 foot WeekEnd Warrior with. Last year about this time, they had the banks braking system put on it. When they went to Pismo for Thanksgiving, Joe told me, it made a great difference on how the truck slowed down or stopped. Especially on Cuesta Grade. He had more peace of mind and more confident in his set upBR>
I have the banks transcommand on mine. It's different then the compression system. This one works electronically. If, I was to get a trailer that was on the upper end, of my capacity for towing, I would seriously look into having the compression system added.

Hoss, I forget how long the manufactorer warranty their underbody, think 5 years though. Anyways, when you get the new PSDYou need to take it down and have the Rhino bed liner sprayed all over the under carriage. I'm sure it will help slow down the rust from happening. As far as doors and fender panels, need to stay on top of the nicks and scratchesinse the truck as aften as possible. One thing I don't miss about Chicago, is the way the weather wreaks havoc on the appearance of your cars
And in California, Sierra Club stopped Caltrans from using salt. So, we get sand thrown down on the roads in the mtns, when it snows

Their are also electromagnetic driveline brakes aswell. their a pretty trick setup. I know a cummins with a manaul and a compression brake on it will lock up the back tires empty in the wet. when it was dry out that friggin thing would stop faster than usin the brakes. or so it seemed ya know. on my dually, i just shift down for extra braking. I think the old trucker's rule of thumb is whatever gear it takes you to go up is the one you use to go down the same grade. but just shifting outta O/D has been good enough for me on some real steep grades with heavy loads. I have 4:10 gears too, so that helps a lot.
in the end, i figured the exhaust brake was a waste of $$.
Hoss, how many times do i have to tell ya, there's a MAJOR pipeline of PSDs and Cummins coming from Canada to the US. Our currency was so horrible, Ford adjusted the Cdn price down. WHolesalers would buy them from the dealers and flip 'em in the states for huge profits. then Ford wouldn't sell to the wholesalers, so they'd get friends to do 6 month leases and basically let them drive the truck for free. anyways, sounds like you got an ex-loggers truck from northern Alberta. Bet you can check the VIN to see where it was originally sold.

Rescue CalTrans also dumps sand on a couple of the overpasses and interchanges around Fresno when it gets REALLY cold here as they tend to ice up. Not a good thing when so moron takes one at 70MPH.
Sounds like sanding is a better option. Probably makes more of a mess (muddy mess) but it saves the cars from rusting out. Maybe the SC actually did something good for once. Or did they do that a long time ago before they became a royal pain in the butt?

Hoss- If that thing has another paint job it probably was in an accident. Why would someone repaint a newer truck other than a hit.
Is just the clear coat peeling or the paint flaking down to the primer? It might be covered on warranty.

I'm friends with an owner of a local Ford Dealership; I just need to take it in to see if the corrosion problems are covered. I wish I could just go buy a new one...patience...patience... Really the worst of it is the tailgate. I also have clear coat issues around the decals, etc.

Creator, That truck has a minimum bid or "reserve bid" on it, that hasn't been met yet. So, if no one bets up to what the reserve is, the seller, has the right to cancel the auction. I'm sure the reserve is around $75,000++ on that truck.

A fellow deputy was working yesterday, On his way back to the office, after catching a attempted murder suspect, that also, car jacked the victims car, with the children inside. Good bustBR>
Anyways, he sees a quad riding on a canal bank. Illegal in California, lots of stolen quads and dopers use them for lab dumps. Anyways, he stops him. Finds out, it's dad, on a Kawi 700(?). On the front rack, he has his 18 months old son, strapped to his car seat, strapped to the rackon the back rack, he has his 4 year old son, strapped to his car seat and that's strapped to the rear rackAfter a stern talking, dad realized how big of a mistake he had made and goes home. Man, I can see alot of bad things out of that situation. Fortunately, dad saw his bad decision making and took the boys home.

rescuediver, I was wondering what your opinion might be on this.
My wife got a speeding ticket a few days ago in Palm Springs...in my new PSD. OK, now that's simple enough but there is more to it. This is her 2nd speeding ticket this year (insert little red mad face here again), the 1st she went to traffic school for. Now as I understand it she can go to traffic school again for this ticket and it will keep the point off her driving record but the ticket itself will still show because it has been less than 18-months since her last traffic school attendance...am I correct on this? She is an insurance agent so she needs to take a little better care of her driving record...now might be a good time for her to start. Here is where it gets interesting...she openly admits that she flat out deserved the ticket she got a few months ago but she feels like this one was just wrong. She was pretty much going with the flow of traffic (all were speeding as is common in that area) and she says a car was coming up on her fast from behind until it reached her and began tailgating. At about the same time the car came up on her bumper she saw a woman officer on a motorcycle pointing the ole radar gun at her. Woman motorcycle officer...I just can't seem to picture that one. OK, I won't be sexist so let me finish my story. My wife looked down at her speed (or rather my) speedo and realized she was doing 67 in a 55...oops. The officer approached my truck looking it over and asked my wife if it was a 04' to which she said it is. LOL, yea I know she wants one. Anyway, the officer said she clocked her doing 74...OUCH! Wifey says "not to be disrespectful, but I honestly do not believe I was going that fast because I took a glance at my speedo when I saw you. Is it possible that you may have clocked the guy that came up me so fast?" She didn't answer the question directly but responded with a phrase that had the term "you were still speeding" in it. She wrote her up for 74. My wife wants to fight it because she believes it was unfair and I happen to agree in that I don't believe she was doing 74 because she says so...what can I say, I trust her. The problem is that if she fights it and loses then she cannot go to traffic school and therefore must endure the point on her record, right? So I'm thinking she should just pay the fine for the guy in the car, assuming I'm correct about the radar issue, and do the traffic school. It doesn't seem to me that there is much motivation for a person to fight a ticket they feel is unfair if it voids their right to attend traffic school...I don't get it. Oh and, she did not actually see the readout on the radar as she didn't ask to and it wasn't offered.
OK, long grammatically incorrect post so sorry about that. I would be interested to hear your opinion and any others that care to comment.

I've heard of the following as one way to beat out a ticket. I was told this by someone and it seams possible. Using some dirty, yet legal tricks.
1.) Shortly before your court date, go to the officers station and ask for their notes of the day or something like that. I'm guessing they have all the information written down in it that they need for court or whatever. The reason for this is more dept. are too busy to get them to you at that time and you'll have to wait.
2.) Ask for a continuance on your court day IF the officer shows up. You are still waiting on discovery for the Notes of the Day
Supposedly the odds of the officer not showing the second day are much higher (unless they other tickets pending on that day as well.)
Yeah, I know its crappy. Yeah, it takes up YOUR time. But if you're trying to beat it, that's one way.
Now, I would think that when an officer writes the ticket they are swearing under oath that the information they put down is true and correct. I don't know how pinpoint a radar is and if another vehicle quickly approaching them from the rear would throw off the signal enough. I had a friend that got off lucky and was written up from 64 in a 55 (pulling a trailer) while she was flying at about 80. But it shows on her license as if she was in a big rig according to her insurance company. I'm assuming they give you 1.5x the point total if you are pulling a trailer which I believe happens with Commercial licensed drivers.

BlackandRed, I've heard something similar about having better chances of the officer not showing to the 2nd court date. I'm still not so sure it would be worth the risk of taking the point if defeated. I don't know much about the radar accuracy either but it seems to me that from the angle at which my wife described the shot it could have very easily have picked up the faster approaching car. In any case, I would think the office would have noticed the "faster" approaching car and found it to be a better catch. My wife thinks it may have something to do with her driving my nice, new, shinny PSD...who knows?

Umm it doesnt matter if the officer shows or not. He wrote a report and the prosecutor can move to use that as the officers testimony and your screwed. best case you get a reduction in the fine unless you can prove that he didnt have his gun calibrated properly.

Worst yet when i drove an obnoxious car i was be boppin along at 45 in a 45 and a BMW passed me at 60 and the police man pulls me over and writes in his report i was the only car and i was radard and yadda yadda when it was the car that passed me!!!!! Crap i tell ya (EDIT) and this is proof that he had seen me haulin ass around and knew i usually drove fast so i was gettin stuck on a day when i wasnt doin anything. Police men remember you.

the biggest mistake your wife made was admitting a speed greater than the posted limit. speeding is an "absolute" charge meaning if you admit being 1 MPH over, you've conceded guilt. Skinner is correct about change in date. the first date is made with the officer's schedule in mind, and they often have a whole day of disputed tickets to appear on, that keeps them in court for the day so as to not waste their time. the changed date is more random and you have a better chance of a no-show.
I thought the constitution gave an accused the right to confront their accuser? How can this be circumvented by the DA reading the officer's report/notes? that's hearsay! the DA wasn't there. you could question/request the service records for the radar instrument used to pronounce your alleged guilt. it also has to be checked for accuracy (before every use??).

As for the reading the officers write up on the incident. Yes the judge can and does allow this to happen. My attorney was pissed and he is a judge aswell. it was crap so we didnt get an oppertunity to question the officer. I don't think she ever admitted to speeding, just that she glanced at the speedo when she saw the officer and that she was not doing 74. It was actually the officer that said "you were still speeding". My thought is if you are speeding you are taking a chance that you will get caught. If you get picked out of 10 other people that were speeding and only you are the one to be ticketed though sh!t, pay up. However, if you know you are doing 12 MPH over then that is what you are assuming the risk for, not 19 MHP over because you may not have been willing to take that chance.
Funny thing, my wife made a couple hundred mile commute yesterday to the big city. She called me and said "I can't believe how long the drive seems when you are trying stay within the speed limit!"

I have probably said it here. or somewhere else. But i totally believe that going faster than everyone else is safer for me. Because i watch the road ahead. I mean i watch my mirrors and stuff. and check out all the girls in the cars as i go by. But man i wanna be no where around all these people eating bowls of cerial, or reading books, or watching movies. Pay attention to the road people. basically the less time you spend next to anycar on the road the safer you are that reduces the likely hood that car will hit you. as in washington if your gonna be the fastest truck on the road then you just watch way ahead and if you see brake lights in known locations of police activity slow down there is prolly a cop up there. as for em sneakin up behind ya. when you goin down the road slow people fill up the gaps tough for em to sneak in there. Then you just have to watch for aircraft buit thats only in the summer in the winter they cant see ya.

I use to fly once or twice a month...quick overnight turnaround trips. I liked it for a while but grew tired of it, especially after 9/11. Now I only fly 2 or 3 times a year and have a respresentative go in my place at a smaller cost to the company.
However, the wife tends to think she is my boss but she doesn't pay very well at all.
