I think I have a businsess card from the guy who had it. Maybe Ill call and talk to his wife.

Im guessing if it was hooked to my solar charging deal and kept at a full charge that would be OK? Or should I disconnect it from the system until about a week before I go camping? Im not too sharp with this electrical stuff.

I had my F350 looked at, the low pressure switch on the A/C went out. $25.00. Yippeeee!!!

Gonna put some pics up today of the new f-450 I'll be picking up this morning.....I maintain our trucks and hope this one is not a problem being the 6.0L

Posted by: mywifesquad

Showing my lack of diesel knowledge......Is the 6.0 another new design from Ford?

Posted by: squeege

Yep...they been using it a few years but are switching next year.....I think to a 6.4L?

Oh OK, I was thinking the 6.0 was the 3rd size. What tranny did you get behind it?

Posted by: squeege

It has the torq-shift tranny and is a 4x4

I used to wonder why anyone would buy a 4X4. Now I wonder why anyone would buy truck that wasnt a 4X4.

Posted by: squeege

It has a very large 600 amp generator mounted and will be required to be offroad-able...we also get snow out here so yah.....wise move with 4x4 I think

That could easily boil the water out of the batteries. I'd disconnect the solar, unless you have a fancy dandy charger/controller that will not overcharge the batteries. Keep a careful eye on the water level. And ONLY put in distilled water.

Well that's good news it was cheap.

Well technically it could be considered the 3rd size. But probably about the 10th generation/power level. The first diesels were a 6.9L. Then they went to the 7.3 (non-turbo), 7.3 (turbo), 7.3 (PSD). 6.0 (PSD) and next model year will be the 6.4L series dual turbo (intake through one turbo, then through the second, then to the engine (after the intercooler)).

I like that color blue. If I had the money that would be right there with the deep grey color they offer.

BR>
No, it just moves the front of the trailer away from the cab of the truck, so you don't need to worry about turning to sharply other than jackknifing and having the trailer meet the cabimg src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0"> Now, the placement of the 5th wheel hitch itself might have a say in how it rides, to far behind the axle and it might effect the ride. I know manufactorers say you should have it center over the axle or just in front of it, this guy has mounted them 1' behind the axle and everyone seems happy with it. We shall see. He definately has an argument for doing it.

Brother hasn't said anything about the jeephe got the permit for the addition on his house and looks to be busy with that. If your out there Saturday, I might take a drive out there then. Can you PM where it is of the hwy again and what time would be good? Only thing I have going on is hoping to sell my trailer this weekend and Church Sunday

Does your solar charger change it's setting based on the charge in the battery? You wouldn't want to overcharge it and boil the battery fluid out of itBR>

It does stop charging at 13.5 volts and im pretty sure it reduces the charge as the battery gets more volts in it. (not sure how else to say that)

Yes it is.

They place the fifth wheel hitch directly over the axle so that's where the weight goes. With the hitch mounted behind the wheels, this will lift the front end of the truck up, just like with a regular bumper tow trailer. And since there is no weight distribution, there's no way to correct this. Granted, you're close to to the axle and it will take more leverage, but it also places more weight on the rear axle. Now if the hitch was placed forward of the rear axle, it would add some weight to the front axle.

Look at a Class 8 trucks fifth wheel plate. They can actually move them a foot or two fore and aft to help adjust the weights (and many, especially the 53' trailers) have adjustable rear axles to get the weight ballance just right.

I think it would be cool to have a totall custom toy hauler built with movable axles. Then you could adjust the heck out of it to find the sweet spot for weight ballance, or for different load conditions.

It's amazing how much semi-useful information I have stored away in my brain. As they say, you never stop learning.

Now considering it's still functioning after the last couple days is amazing. Wed: 7am in the shop, left town at 8:15 and got to Gonzales about 11:15 or so. Got off work close to 6. Back at the jobsite at 6am, half hour lunch, got off at 5 and pulled into the driveway at 8pm. (The 150 handles well all the way to 90 in windy conditions...hey...I didn't realize I was going THAT fast.)

You might be on to something with the moving axlestoy haulers now are getting more luxurious then your homeso, why not improve the trailer even more like a real truck doesEspecially with trailers getting bigger.

See that is rediculous. Bro got home tonight from work. They worked like 6x12 (some did 15 on Wed and 13 yesterday) this week. He was so tired he looked at a breaker panel, closed the door and went over to a wine press to switch the phases. Note my lack of him actually turning OFF the breaker. Got a little 277V action (one leg of a 480V 3phase Wye). You work too much and accidents happen.

No kidding. The ex employees could REALLY screw them over. You can't lay off people and then have people working major overtime like that. They should be attempting to recall those guys. We got screwed on something like that. We had to turn over copies of timecards to the labor commissioner because the guys were laid off due to a lack of work. (They should have been fired for being crappy workers. Bad communication between the foreman and office manager.)

Man, how come you can't ride that puppy more? If I lived up there with all that riding so close you could go just for half a day if you wanted. down here it's a 1 1/2- 2 hour drive one way so it's a little harder just to go for a short time.

From your pics, just rip up your backyard

Looking at selling my PSD and getting a PSD Excursion or something like that. I have been taking my Burb more than the PSD because of the extra seating.

Plus, as you might know, you get to be the "weekend mover" since you have a truck

I hear youMust of fallen in love with the new ride. So young and impressionableBR>
Carnegie is only 35 mins or so from the house. It's close enough to where we don't need to get up to early to hit the roadWe can ride for 2-3 hours and come homeOnly thing that stinks is the clean up, sometimes it takes longerthen how much time we had riding to get it covered in mud

I meant riding around town on the wheeler. It's pretty common around here.

well considering town is a gas station a resturaunt a sawmill and a post office... hmmm.. prolly can long as you stay off the highway.. but I don't go down the hill much. If a guy has to get sompin in town its more like a 45 minute drive to get grocerys and stuff.

How's this for a friend, My buddy (best man in my wedding) decides he wants to join the family and I when we go riding and campingSo he buys a Honda 650 a couple months ago. I know it's a motorcycle, but hey, it's riding and enjoying the great outdoorsAnyways, he calls me up last night, tells me he came across a motorcycle and decided to buy it. That way, he and I can go riding together withimg src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0"> Now that is cool Here's a picture of the bike Suzuki 650 It only has 355 miles on it. The original owner took it on the highway and got scaredimg src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0"> and decided it wasn't for himIt looks like it came off the showroom floorI see a trip to the Sierras is in the near future

I know there are some out thereAnd it is a shame!! I agree, don't know why she would of allowed you to drive that far, unless there were circumstances that prevented her from pulling you over safely when she observed the first moving violation.

there was plenty of places prior to the parking lot of the house im staying at to pull me over it was a pretty lame manuever on her part. she knew she had no probable cause for the stop so she made it up.. its friggin crap. anyway she made many other errors in my favor wich is GOOD.

as fer the foot.. its finally feeling better.. Not 100% yet.. prolly around 75% id say.. Good enough i might be able to start riding agin. Its been a rough go.. I've been off it pretty much completly for the last month.. It got really bad after the whole arrest thing and it was gettin close to better. messed it up with a combination of wakeboarding and doing a handstand between a couple tables

There are definately more honest people out therethen dishonest onesHowever Toyo, if you had not been put yourself in the situation to get arrested (DUI ?) than it probably would of only been a moving violation.

Hmm, without being there I can only speculate on whyShe did seem to rack up a lot of moving violations against you. Get yourself a good lawyer and have your day in courtUnfortunately it will cost you time away from work and $$$ out of your pocketIf she is that bad of a cop, eventually it catches up with them, one way or another.

So you did it showing off for the girls! Were they near a Yellow JeepHope they were there to help ice the swelling down

I've been thinking about getting one too. But kept my mouth shut from the wife, only leads to a lengthy discussion on a savings account that should equal 1 year of billswhich we don't have that many and we are decently financially securedPlus, my toy money is going to a used 36 foot Weekend Warrior toy hauler that needs some TLC itself.

I seriously doubt MWQ being jealousThat man has plenty of toys himself. Saw him at his shop this past Saturday, what a great place to have as a retreat

I have seen it from both sides, as an arresting officer and as a bailiff watching to many cases in court. You really need to attack her reasoning to stop you in the first place. From what you say, you should walk out of court with a high head, however, your wallet will be lighter

Only way to dipute her claim is to beat her with physics, mathematically prove she could not have accelerated in that amount of time and stopped safely within the distance she was traveling in. Need to start poking holes in her report.

I am sure you don't have to

Same down here, I have seen a few people arrested for less than .08 and have seen majority of them walk out of the court room with a not guilty verdict. You really need to show how much of a danger they were ie. like an accident. Otherwise, jurors don't see it as a violation when your test is under .08.

Same down here, state just gave out about $900,000 is grant money to combat DUIs. Thing with DUIs is, the drunk usually walks away from an accident and the innocent people are the ones that are screwed up.

Clovis had a DUI checkpoint a couple weeks back. In the most stupidest place. Right after a major street. 75% of the cars were making quick rights and lefts. Was about 10. Maybe later on they posted some people on that street.

while .08 is our legal limit, there's not a cop or crown prosecutor (same as your DA) around that would even waste their breath on a DUI at that level. too easy to create reasonable doubt about the accuracy of the Breathalyzer machine, timing of getting the sample vs. when you were driving, rate of your alcohol consumption, etc...Our guys usually want a minimum of .10. Anything under you might get a lecture followed by a 24 hr suspension. (24 HR is like a get out of jail free card. park your car right there, they take your DL for 24hrs, NO FINE, NO AFFECT on insurance rates. But don't get caught driving during the 24 hr prohib, or then it's big fines, invalid insurance, etc.). Now it is different if yer involved in an mva and blow .086, then they might tighten the noose a little, but they'd NEVER get a conviction at your level. Are they not trying to plea bargain? sounds like your area is full of inbred nut-bars. you want me to come down there and run your defence?? Sounds like I could do a better job. And don't forget pal, I'm up in here in pinko-land, where we're all raging socialists, and our law enforcement ain't that nasty.

my clean cut, 45 y/o brother was in SUmas, WA (a former bustling border town that turned into a ghost-town when the Cdn dollar crashed a few years ago). Anyways, he wasn't sure how long the border line up would be, and he was coming home from a Seahawks game. His back teeth were floating. They pulled into 2 gas stns and they were closed (see ghost-town above). So they pull in behind one of the abandoned blgs and he has a whiz. The rotten #@&*'ers fined him $250!! What kind of a male human would do that to another male? That's what ya call a waste of skin. So my brother disputed the AMOUNT only, and the judge gave him a big lecture. He shoulda lectured the cop! MD, I hope you NEVER EVER issued these types of citations. It's that type of thing that makes people despise LE instead of respecting it.

OFC, i thot ya buzzed 'er all off? see how a book get s judged by it's cover??

As for DUI enforcement up here; we have MAJOR road blocks, gov't funding, gov't ins. company funding, etc.. It is NOT taken lightly. But at least we make sure we nail the real ones, and notthe borderline cases. Conviction rate is an entirely different story, but making a guy spend $10-20 K on a defence is just as good as a conviction (if there's no MVA).

OFC, you's been cooped up at home for WAAAAYYYYY too long, watching pornos and eating cheezies. BE very careful you don't end up with orange pnus syndrome!!

Posted by: nedflanders

oh, BTW, HOWDY FOLKS!img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I'm with OFC on August being a horrible month. We rented a second house on our property to a SWF in February. I knew $$ would be tight for her for rent, but I told her she could board extra horses. She had 2 of her own. I said she could keep her 2 for free, and board up to 3 more, but it'd cost an extra $100 for the extra 3. She's getting $150-200 PER horse, so I thought it was generous of me, and it would give her a chance to lower her rent. She actually said I should get all the board $$, but I insisted that wasn't necessary, and that she should use the $$ to just survive. She said she'd clean up after them and rent a dumpster. She'd been in the hospital several months earlier for depression but assured me that was under control. I thought she was a really good person despite her past problems, and that she just needed a break. STOO-PIDLY, I rented to her.

First, she wants to be an animal rescue center cuz she loves animals. She has 2-3 dogs at any one time, a cat, lizard, tarantula, bird that flys around,etc... She's an animal lover, but an AWFUL trainer. The dogs are incorrigible. THEN, we have extra horses on our property that we're NEVER paid for. THEN, we have 7 horses that we'd expressly capped at 5. I find her another field from my neighbor, to use for grazing, for FREE. She also rents a field from a different neighbor. She's got at least 12 horses she's rotating around, all made possible by my property, but she never has more than 5 on my property at any one time. THEN, rent is ALWAYS late, and paid twice per month in halves, instead of once at the beginning of the month. THEN, the first half of July is paid with 2 cheques, 1 of which bounces. The second half never comes. August, we get 1/2, but we apply that to July, which still hasn't been fully paid. We apply for eviction (this is where we're WAAAAY too socialistist. The system takes at least 3-4 months ++ before you can have a bailiff or sheriff physically remove them). I sorta guess that we were "lucky" she moved out Aug 31. She leaves the house and barn a disaster/pig sty. And the various horse owners were obnoxious to us. I now have a new-found HATE (and I RARELY use the word HATE) for horse boarders/owners. WHat a flakey bunch (that doesn't include you OFC or LJ). AND... we were nothing but civil and nice to her the entire time. My son would cut her grass, we gave her food cuz we knew she was struggling, we delivered to her ALL her moving boxes. We allowed her additional use of our property, I got her an extra field for free, etc....

After she leaves, there are 2 trailer loads of trash to take to the dump. Broken furniture, old table, tv stand, etc. The carpets reek of dog pi$$. I tore out all the carpet and pad. Ceilings need painting, walls washing (she didn't lift a finger to clean anything). I am trying to recover unpaid rent and a PORTION of my expenses. Despite all this, I'm still trying to be reasonable and treat it like business. WHile she was moving, I had to serve her papers notifying her of an arbitration date. She wasted a FULL day trying to avoid me. Her friends told me she was in the house, and I knew she was there cuz I saw her. I thot I'd be just as stubborn and waited on the doorstep. She wouldn't come out. I told her and her friends i didn't want to talk or lecture her, just hand her an envelope.

So I adverstise the place and get at least 30 phone calls. I find what seems to be a nice family. Dad, wife, 8 y/o and 1 to be born at the end of this month. Oct 1 will be perfect timing for them. Only 1 horse, 2 well trained dogs.

So here's the icing on the cake. This second house is really nice inside, but was built on top of a barn. It wasn't supposed to be built for occupancy, but everything is to building code and safe. Technically, it's not supposed to be lived in. But none of my neighbors care as long as I keep tabs on the renter, and keep someone decent in there. And the process is only complaint driven. The city doesn't monitor it. She has the audacity to call the city by-laws people to complain that I'm renting this place. They come and lecture me, tell me NO RENTING!! I have no idea if they're coming back. They did tell me the system is complaint driven, and they don't routinely monitor it. Also, I'm not allowed to know identity of complainant. I spoke to all my neighbors, and know it's not them. WHat do I tell the nice family? I'll tell them the truth. I actually told them ahead of time that it was an unauthorized accomadation, but there'd been no problems or complaints so far.

Can you believe she'd be vindictive enuf to try and screw us out of being able to rent our place, when we were nothing but kind and generous? sorry for the long rant, but I've been needing to vent this one. And we need the rental to afford our place. And she knows that too. EVIL!img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif" border="0">

No good deed goes unpunished.

I sure hope yer right, but unfortunately, we're the ones being punished for our good deeds. Oh yeah, she still has 8 horses in the pasture next to us, so she can monitor the status of our rental. This person should not be in the gene pool.

It's that type of thing that makes people despise LE instead of respecting it.

.08, convictions not a problem. Never lost a DUI caseBR>
I have done my share of lecturing on the matterHowver, I never had someone tun into an idiot and take it to the next levelShoot, on graveyard, it was not unheard of in the middle of nowhere to stop the car and take care of business right then and there

MD, I have a set of Firestones. i think the compressor is a rich-man's add-on. I have a portable air tank. due to the small volume, it takes a short blast from the tank to air them up. I consider them a load leveller. They don't increase gvw. Other than levelling out, no noticeable difference to me. the suspension guy was trying hard to convince me to add another leaf spring instead of the bags. bear in mind, I have a dually.

wow, you guys must have pretty weak impaired lawyers down there, or some kind of air-tight laws. I met one lawyer who had been doing impaired defences for 20-25 years. he hadn't lost an impaired or over .08 trial yet (altho he had lost refusal to blow trials). but then, the legal system seems to have a way of buttering itself. the judges are all ex-lawyers. so maybe up here in socialism land, the system is easier on the guilty? but I thot you guys had it kinda the same way? how did OJ get off when his blood was found at the scene of the crime?? that's a slam dunk in pretty much any country! what a circus that whole thing was.

Your dually would have had about the same ride as our 450 at work. The 6-wheeled pogo stick! Throw 2K pounds and it will soften, slightly.

I know I heard of one case where the lawyer suppoened the breathalyzer company to see the source code to their equipment to see exactly how it worked. Company refused to let the attorney have an expert review the code. Smart attorney. Judge upheld the subpoena and I think the case was tossed.

Actually it looks like it was HUNDREDS of cases in Florida:

DUI Cases

And the glove didn't fit.
