It took me about 2:20 to get to Yuma so I would say about 2:05 give or take.
When we go there we go on the north side and follow the canal road for about 4 miles. There is a crossing there so we air down to about 10psi and power up to the sand highway and into a couple of large bowls to camp. Nobody bothers you up there at allhr>

actually MD, with our wet-coast moisture/climate, we have that problem ALL THE TIME. cold = frozen shut door. TIP: don't yank on handle, you'll break it. open/unlatch handle (and hold it open) while you grab bottom of door down low, and pull hard on door, not handle. that'll pop it open.

I really did think that moisture had gotten into the door jam area and froze the doors shut. Just suprised the crap out of me when I went to open themYour are right about the door handle, I'll probably try it in the morning, seeing we should have another freezing night tonight

I saw BJ (YIKES, did they think of that abbreviation when they named the band? Apparently NOT!!) from a private suite. it was pretty cool.
so if 40-50 y/o grace a BJ concert, whaddya make of a Rolling Stones concert?? D&D Fest2006 (Dentures & Depends)!! And I heard Steven Tyller talking about being in their 60's and being a hard rock band (Aerosmith). Sounds like they're close to wrapping it up.

Well, they did ban the sale of .50 cal rifles. Because all the gang members running around doing drive-bys with 40lb Barrets. Anyone understand this one? I think pretty much the only people who had .50s are either large game hunters, or gun collectors. And has anyone ever heard of someone using a .50 to kill someone (other than the military)?

I think pretty much the only people who had .50s are either large game hunters, or gun collectors. And has anyone ever heard of someone using a .50 to kill someone (other than the military)?
Look at how they do things. Little by little. First it's one type of guns (or anything else) and then after that gets banned (or changed) they do another, and another, until they get just what THEY want.img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif" border="0">

WTF they gonna do drive bys with a 50 cal? now if it was a 50 cal turret on a tactical I could see some worry. they could wipe out a neighborhood in a matter of minutes.. walls dont mean chit to them things

I think I would wrap it up too, if my major sponsors are Polident and the makers of Depends

LOL..nice. Closest I've come to one is the airsoft one that's sitting at the airsoft shop (though they are also a licensed gun dealer as well.) Suckers can hit hard. One shop tuned there's up. Shooting an 8mm/.49 gram BB at 800 fps, or so. You figure a regular AEG throws a 6mm/.20 gram @ 400 fps (what most fields limit.) Snipers using HPA will shoot 6mm / high .30 gram at about 650...reliably. Over 700-750 fps the guns start to blow seals.
But if you did that, then you'd have to be running around in a mini-van. LOL
That was like a 12.7mm ... it's not .50 cal...wonder if it would be legal to have an anti-material rifle with that round. LOL. (The 12.7mm is the answer to the .50 BMG round.)

Old tenant moves out today. YAY!! new blood moves in on the 15th. did i mention I'm a slum lord now? Actually, the phone rang off the hook. The 1600 sq' rancher includes a 5-stall enclosed horse barn (under the house), use of a small portion of acreage, 6 outside open/covered horse stalls that are individually fenced, plus some good horse riding trails nearby. Covered parking for 3 vehs., with 18' clearance. And I know nothing about horses, so i guess I'm about to find out. Was kinda nice this time being able to screen many inquiries to find the person I think best for the property. Sure hope this one lasts longer than the first tenant (2 months in total).
Hey Hoss, how are the 3:00AM feedings and stinky diaper changes treating ya? Is this one a screamer?

[qHey Hoss, Is this one a screamer?
Are you talking about the wifey or the new carpet muncher

Sorry about that Ned 'ol boy. I fix you one of those nice tri-tips. That should soften the blow.
And I was gonna make a comment about Hoss' wife being the screamer earlier, but I had to get some work done...damn.
My plotter is making streaks on prints at work. Can't figure out what's causing it. Just seems to be doing it on "normal" mode, not the best or draft mode. It's nasty dirty in there. All kinds of ink congealed all over. Going to talk to the boss about paying someone to clean that mess up in there. I cleaned the printheads up really good, but that's not it.
On that note, I was searching for codes to do stuff on the plotter (like holding down the power button and hitting OK 4 times prints this summary page), well, funny enough, on the first page of hits from google, was this thread! LOL I was LMFAO when I found that.

Time for new tires on the eff2fidday. And since everything else has been changed or upgraded, some new wheels as well.
Heres a pic of the truck and heres a pic of the wheels in 17"... Now. The only thing we cant decide on is the tires. Kinda lookin at the Bridgestone Revos in the stock hight as theyre the only revos that are E rated. Or my favorite the BFG ATs in 285/70 that are an inch taller than the revos at almost 33"s tall, but with the same weight rating..
Would that extra inch make THAT much difference in these trucks? I know it does in the jeeps, but the jeeps are a totally different animal, bieng underpowerd and all.
Any suggestions? Whats the hight/weight on the stock steeltex ats? I cant find any specs on it.. BR>
Itll be nice to finnally get some decent meats under that truck.

No kidding. I hate parking lots. Usually a PITA, but sometimes an easy one comes through. And that's just getting them ready to work with. Not trying to actually lay out the fixtures. That's usually easy, just play with them in the photometrics (LitePro by Hubbell Lighting) app. I'm back down to 8-5, but getting up at 4:30 or so every days sucks.

It takes me about 6 mos to go through 200 sheets of Arch D (36x24). I'm at about maybe 700 sheets. Over 3800 pages over all. April will be 2 years. It's amazing how nasty these things get.
What are you guys running that you have multiple plotters? With that kind of volume I'd be running an Oce 9800. But then again, the base model goes for a PSD CC LB 4x4 & toy hauler. LOL. Company that does our heavy plotting runs 2 of them, fully loaded. Scanners, 2 paper drawers of 2 rolls each. Total they run about $115K MSRP. They lease and replace every 2 years.
They were plotting all of the big stuff that was being built in Fresno. Save Mart Center, St. Agnes Medical Center, Fed. Building. Wasn't uncommon for them to have their little Ford Ranger sitting on the axle making a delivery. They were running both plotters 8-5 non-stop, plus had a guy coming in like 5-midnight to run after-hours plots.
I've never worked in a huge volume shop like that. When I worked for another elec. contractor they'd run through a pallet (like 40-50 rolls) in one year. So probably one roll a week. We tend to reuse paper, either front and back, or just use another color to "redline" a dwg. A lot of checking on the screen. Got used to doing that when a fast plot turnaround from the bureau was 2 hrs.

I'm not sure on those wheels, but at least they aren't as ugly as some stuff out there. A little taller would fill the wells a little better. A poster was right on an rv forum, they look like roller skate wheels. A little too small. But you might lose a little power from heavier tires and mileage down a little.
That's still a damn pretty truck.

Yeah. Thats why "I" wouldnt want stock size and am thinking the 33s would be a better choice. But its not mine so who cares haha. I may take one of my 33s off and roll it under to see how it would look. Stock wheels are 16s, were looking at 17s, anything more and tires get REALLY hard to find.
Its really hard to know whatll look good on this truck untill its on it.
And, i dont think power is too much of an issue, its just mileage hes worried about.

Aren't renters greatI have been pretty lucky so far and I hope it stays that wayI do think your way too nice with them. That deposit is there so you don't have to pay to get it back to the standards you started with. use it for the painting and cleaning that is needed.

ya, i thot you had an extra house or two kicking around in Arizona or sompin like that. we're probably the grow-op capital of the world. mostly run by organized crime. so the last thing you ever wannna be is an absentee landlord. some people hire agencies to look after it, and pay a fee.growers pay top rent, but they destroy your place with grow conversion & mold.
other than the PU truck & wood pile, it's not too bad. I used to rent and ALWAYS left the place as good or better than I moved in. I found a few landlords absolute peckerheads about refunding the deposit, or being super nit-picky about the condition (despite the fact it was worse than that when you moved in, but they always glaze over the pre-inspection). So I didn't want to be like them.

HEY, I'm on topic here!! Okay, so you PSD-posters are designing a parking lot. CAN YOU PLEASE DESIGN PARKING SPACES FOR A CREWCAB DUALLY!!!!! Only in the northern part of the province do you ever see ample room for these beasts, because every logger and oil rig worker owns one.
Posted by: Trasher
Half the parking spots made today are so small I can't park my Honda Civic inwithout dinging the door of the car next to you.

LJ, that's a really clean looking rig. F250 crew?! don't see a lot of those. I could see the locking hubs, but from your pic, that unit looks like a lowrider 2WD. if you put those wheels on, it will look more SUV than truck. maybe get low-profile tires and complete the lowrider look.
Black is a tough color to keep clean. I pick my wheels now, based on ease of cleaning ( & look). I had a '92 Grand Marquis, and it had great factory alum rims, but they were impossible to clean. toothbrush to do it properly. just think about those nooks & crannies for cleaning. I think a 5-spoke style would look okay too, alto I do like the rims you guys picked aswell. tires?? where's OFC (AKA= Toyo!).

Same with us. Always cleaned for 2 or 3 days after we moved everything out. Carpets, walls, etc. We moved out of one apt. and the manager tells my mom she'd never seen anyone leave an apt. that clean. Thing they proceeded to ring up all kinds of charges on stuff. But that's what you get when you have a property management company running things.

We only add lighting to them and tell the arch/civil that a transformer is MUCH bigger than that little square they have. Usually I send them our block for a 106x90 PG&E transformer pad. hehe. I remember sometimes trying to sneak my Daewoo into some spots. They want to "outlaw" the "COMPACT" parking spot here. Cause you still see someone pull a crew cab long bed into one.

You see a ton of 250 crews around here. Not a lot of 350s, except in the dealer lots. People don't want to spend the extra $1K on them I guess. Plus the weight fees every year.

we have the opposite. a 1-ton is considered commercial veh., so you ONLY pay 14% taxes on purchase. on a 3/4T you pay 17% taxes. Plus guys like the solid axle vs independent suspension. Plus more carrying capapcity without the MOT ticketing you.

What is the difference in fees for a F250 vs a F350?
Basically there's about a 1,000lb difference in GVWR. It's not really that much I would think in fees. But some people are complete cheap bastages and don't want to pay it. 2005 Ford really changed up GVWR based on the vehicle layout and drivetrain so it would be a BIG difference in GVWR now between an F-250 SD 5.4L manual 4x2, std. cab, short bed (8800lb) and an F-350 SD DRW PSD auto 4x4 crew cab long bed (well over 10,000lbs, close to 11,000).
But it's still only like 1000lb between equal layouts 250 vs. 350SRW.
When was this?
It was a while back. Last summer? Maybe before. Whether he used "hate" or not I don't know, but he was upset about it.

I was wondering how much money was involved in the differences.

The only discounts you get here is for farm use, but it better stay on the farm. They don't get a regular registration. These trucks don't trigger Federal Excise Taxes on tractors. Which are meant for big rigs that are built specifically for towing. The guys that have the tow bodies built are supposed to pay the FET, even if it isn't for comm. use. There's an IRS opinion posted on the Cowboy Caddilacs (tow body builder) website.
Only taxes we pay are:
Sales tax based on your place of residence. Clovis is +/-8.2%. If I got to Madera, I still pay that rate, and not the 7.75% or so.
Gas guzzler tax as appropriate.
Each year you pay:
Vehicle License Fee. This is leu of paying property taxes. It USED to be like 1.5% or .5% can't remember. It's now 1/3 of whatever it used to be. It's tied to the Kelly Blue Book avg. value. Too many Ferraris and other exotics were being "officially" sold for really low values.
Weight Fee: as appropriate. Based on the GVWR
You may also have to pay oh WTF is it, it's like another weight fee. You declare what you'll weigh, but it's NOT the GVWR of the vehicle. They are two difference things. This was passed CA went to PTI for trailers. Makes up the difference. You can declare GVWR or GCWR. That's like $100, but doesn't apply to pickups. Only to "other" vehicles like tow bodies, flat beds, tractors, box vans, etc.
Various smog impact fee, county fees, etc. Maybe I'll post a scan of a renewal notice and you can see. There's about 6 line items that you pay, or not. Even if you don't pay, they are listed but as $0.

we pay 7% Provincial, & 7% Fed txes. Plus we pay fees to our gov't ins. co. for GVWR. we get ins. discount for farm use, but you need a farm card. I'm working on that right now. can't wait to run purple fuel. And I'll NEVER put it in my Jetta...PROMISE!

Our office has about 100 employees, we have I am going to say around 10 plotters, Oce 600's and Oce 8100's IIRC. We run dual drawers with 3 rolls of bond paper and one of mylar. It's not unheard of to run copies on 80-120 pages from a job each day. Yesterday we did 130 pages on mylar

well, the renter has left behind a pile of wood slabs (about a cord) & a broken down Ranger PU (blown tranny), with a truck box full of garbage. both were supposed to be removed today. left the oven & fridge messy, and fireplace full of crud. gave notice a day late (which technically binds you to the next month). I originally let them move in a few days early, & they were way late vacating. PLUS, I could demand they clean carpets, windows & blinds (they had a pet, plus they smoked). Also, they took a $25 box of scallops from our deep freeze(before I got it moved). despite all this, she wants me to BUY her surviellance camera they've wired in, & refund full damage deposit. I'm WAAAYYYY too nice to people. I'll give back the damage deposit, but i think the camera should stay.
Hell, you're gonna have to haul off their truck, clean up, etc. Take pics. You're too nice....
I'd sayYour a fool for giving their deposit back. People like that screw landlords all the timeToughen up or you'll be taking it in the shorts everytime

Yes it isBR>
I can't help you on the specsWhen the lift, tires and wheels were added to my truck, it lost 4 mpg

LOL! Our main parking lot at work can carry a fleet of F350SOf course, that's what we have for the survey crewsThe standards in our county is 9 feet wide and 18 feet deep, the depth of the isle changes by the angle of the parking spot. But in a 90 degree slot, it's suppose to have a 24 foot travel lane. You can go to 30% of your lot having spots for small/compact cars. Those can be 7.5"x17'. The spot I park in at work, which is owned by another company, is small, if a full size truck parks behind me, I am screwed. The angles of the spots are like 30%so very little backing up space is required

Well guys, it's been nice checking inand catching upNow I am off to the ranch to cut some more firewood. Finally broke down last week and bought a Stihl 210 chainsaw with the assist-a-start (or whatever they call it) and quick chain adjustment. Cut nicely, should of bought one a long time ago. Starting it is like pulling your shoes laces to untie them

Looks like a nice saw, and that chain adjustment is really slick. What size bar is that?
Dads got an older Stihl with a 16" bar that still kicks butt. Those stihls last forever. And that would be perfect for the quad. BR>And just picked up a husqvarna 359 with a 24" to cut up some HUGE oaks in the pasture. That thing is a BEAST!
But i have to use it..
hahah sucks.

LJ, at least you got a Husqy actually made by husqy. All their light and medium duty duty stuff is private labelled for them by Weedeater/Poulan. Not even close to the same quality. just cashing in on their good Husqy name.
that saw sounds like a beaut MD. I have an older Stihl, baby size. just a brute to start, even when perfectly tuned. and the chain dulls SO FAST. it really is more like a branch trimmer.
I installed a wood-burning insert into the rental house today. It's a Fisher. What a beaut. It should heat that whole house on wood. I like the new tenant (she hasn't moved in yet, so what's not to like!!), and hope this will help keep her happy.
Man, what a wind we had last night & today. blew down the horse barn made of 2x6.....FLAT as a pancake. not very well constructed I guess. should be fun to rebuild.....NOT!

well, i sold the travel trailer today...finally. took long enuf...then I had 2 people wanting it on the same day. go figure. I got $9500 and pretty much all of that will go to pay my way too high Cdn. income taxes...over and above what I've already paid them (which is lots...and NO... I don't earn that much).

Seattle got ROBBED!! MVP= OFFICIALS. that was by far the worst officiated Superbowl game I've EVER seen. they usually have the A-team of refs for the big game. these guys couldn't ref a pee-wee game. No wonder Holmgren remembered coaching in high school when this guy refereed one of his games. how can you forget someone that BRUTAL. After watching the replay, how could they call Rothlisberger in for a TD?? wasn't even close! the offensive pass interference was a joke, he never pushed the guy, he had his arm out, and the defender was going the other way. with one arm he pushed off?IMPOSSIBLE! Hasselback gets an illegal block call after he threw the INT and made the tackle on the ball carrier??WTF?? some WEAK holding calls on Seattle, especially when the standard wasn't the same when Pitts was holding. and the media usually doesn't hesitate to criticize bad calls, but Madden and Michaels must have been watching something different than the rest of us. seattle got jobbed. I'M BITTER!! AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!

Tires really affect your gearing. I guess it's time to lower that ratio and toss in a locker

Where the heck was one of those knuckle heads months agoGo figure two people would want it the same time.
Taxes- errrrrrrrrrrr. Last year my company changed the way we were paid and I had less commission checks which are taxed at a much higher rate. Not enough taxes were drawn out and I got bent over big time. (no- I don't go there) Hopefully this time won't be so bad. Time will tell since I haven't started to do them yet.

Yes it is. They also have a scond office in Utah (SLC) tha has about the same amount of people. Today I ran 3 copies of 116 pages for a job with Teichert. With everyone running the plotter, I had to replace the roll twice

That's a huge beastI looked at the HusqvarnasWas torn between the two. Decided on the stihl after starting it. Your right, the chain adjustment is sweetIt has a 16 inch bar on it. That think rocksI introduced my two oldest daughters to using the chain sawsThey didn't realize how hard it isto cut wood. However, I think they like itToo bad we are just about done cutting the trees up, only have to to fall and cut up, then onto splitting and stacking

I didn't know that about husqy
If you need a new saw, I'd suggest giving this one a pullIt is sooooo SWEETIt actually doesn't start until you let the rope coil back up, then it purrrrrs
Why would you put a stove in the rental? Are you paying the heating bill, as part of the rental?? And furnishing the wood?? Inquiring minds want to knowBR>So, what's the "new" tenant look likeWill you always find something to fix at her houseLOL!
That stinksDid you buy homeowners insurance you can claim it on? I agree, some bad calls. However, I don't think Seattle played to winT.E. drops 3 passes, wide receiver steps out
