Precipitation 1.82 in / 4.6 cm

Most of that was through 11am. We've had .03" the last couple of hours.

We were about 2" below normal for rainfall coming into this last series (say around Xmas). Now we are about +.5 or so. Maybe even +1". Sucks with the snow level so high. Let's just hope it doesn't go too high. Looks like we blew away the old rain record. Was .85" in 1917.

MD: Hope the little one gets better soon. We'll take her up for some snow riding.

Hehe

Snow!!!

Snow at 6200ft
About 56-5700ft or so.
Rockslide on the way home.

Good stuff. Snowline was at about 5000-5200 at about 3:15 today. Dropped to 47-4800 right before dark.
TONS of people up there. WAY more then ive ever seen haha. Did have to spend 15 minutes finding out why my compressor wasnt working though. Was a loose wire i guess.

Hey all!

Glad to see this thread is still alive. I've been on a two-week vacation. However, work is stacked up on my desk, etc. Well, I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year; I know we did. Oh, and I'm a new daddy (baby boy).

I read a few pages, but I'm 100 posts behind. However, I did see that DQ finally showed up...and yes, I'm having DQ withdrawls.img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

Sarcasm is hard to convey via forum. I guess I should have said [sarc] or the wink emoticon. I dunno, what would Skinner say about all of this? Speaking of chick magnets...Skinner is #1.

The only chicks I attract are the ones completely fscked in the head. (DQ: you may wish to skip this next part...) Not sure if there is such a thing as a sane woman...some say there is. I guess that's why sometimes I really enjoy being single. Nobody to b!tch at me for being online, yacking with friends and playing with my new toy, Treo 650. I had to carefully construct that sentance knowing you guys.

Hey, how's the new house?

Posted by: nedflanders

ya, that one is a little old & stale. but you prolly had to pick yourself up off the floor.

my dream garage is still full of boxes marked "craft room", and "decorations" for every season (Christmas, Halloween, Valentines, Easter, etc..). we still have a huge family room to set up. Another month, & we'll be settled. renter just gave notice after only one month. kinda glad.

I couldn't wait to get all the Christmas boxes put back up in the raftersI even through a few more things up there to clean up more floor space in the garage. With the daughter in the hospital, it really cut into my holiday vacation time to do a lot of work in the garage. However, she came home this morningand after a daqy or tow of R&R and maybe riding(I'll try feeling that one out with the wife I'll tackle the garage.

Dec. 26th we pack everything away. The holiday is over so why have it all hangin around anymore?

I know the laws pertaining to peace officers and their employer's property. I would think if they own it, they could monitor it, though.

CANADA WINS GOLD!! YAAAAY!! we beat Ruskies 5-0. Awesome game. I went to it!!

USA lost the bronze medal game to Finland 4-2 (USA was favored to win this tourney).

Canadians in general showed no class to the Americans, and there are lots of disgusted Cdns that are embarassed by the classless actions of some of their boorish fans. There's been lotsa news articles & letters to the Editor about it. The moronic individuals should be ashamed of themselves. I think I'll write a letter to the US Jr. hockey website to tell them that not ALL Cdns are as rotten as the ones they were "booed" by.

well said MD, especially 18-19 y/o kids that are out there giving it their all, and know or care nothing about politics. But I'd like to think Cdns weren't booing the country, they were booing what they feared as the toughest opponent, and favorite to win the tourney. So it's almost a compliment to their talent & abilities when you fear your opponent so much, you despise them .

we have no reason to be radically anti-USA. ya, we're PO'ed over a couple of Free-Trade issues like softwood lumber, but that's it. And it's sure not enuf to justify behaving that way. it really hit rock bottom when people cheered for Russia over USA in the semi-final game. I mean, Russia?? WTF!? We despise all eastern Euro teams, no matter who they're playing.

Depends on how things are set up. I assume that you're using a VPN solution to get internal access to the network "back home" while you're on the road. Ideally, the VPN software will just redirect traffic bound for the internal network and send that over the VPN. All other traffic would flow out normally via the ISP. IIRC, aircards are just PC Card cellular modems.

Of course, you could be dialling with the aircard directly "back home" to the office and going through their proxies, etc.

Without knowing EXACTLY how it's set up, could give you a definitive answer. Though if the laptop is theirs, then they can monitor anything and everything that goes on with it. Usually, somewhere in your employee handbook there's a thing about monitoring computer usage. That should always be in there. So I would suggest staying off of any porn sites, warez sites, etc.

It also depends on the admins/techs. Some couldn't really give a rats @ss. I know I don't. We don't monitor, filter, etc. anything here. Well, incoming email is filtered at the ISP. Usually they only care if it's causing problems. Like HUGE bandwidth charges cause some a-hole installs KAZZAA on a computer and rapes the network. Then there are some that are absolutely draconian. Though if that was the case, you'd probably already have even more time to golf. I couldn't work for a company like that.

One of my Linux group members just went to work for a very large AutoCAD reseller here and was having a hard time adjusting to a Windows only shop where Linux is thought of as junk. They don't want it anywhere around there. Considering they are a MS Solutions Provider and who knows what else I'm not suprised. Told them I should have got the install pack with our plotter and MADE them install it on the Linux server. LOL.

I was sent the aircard and they will be getting the bill so I will never see what type of breakdown it has. I don't think there is any way to do this but I was just curious.

LMAO! You look good in a dress, too. However, your freakiness has scared all the girlies off (DQ, mudn chicks...).

Yeah, screwing off on someone else's time is my favorite hobby.

Posted by: Trasher

You know. This time wasting thing is something I think about all the time. Am I wasting time when I stop work at 3 to play golf for a couple hours but put much more than that after hours in the same day? I am working about 6:30 am until late at night almost every day plus time on weekends so if I jack around now and then it doesn't bother me at all anymore. I have been trying to turn off the pc on weekends (for work and personal email- not this forum ) and it's been pretty nice. I truly feel that the company is getting their moneys worth from me.

Been wanting to find a job with less travel. maybe now is that time.......

Being on this forum a waste of time??? I think not img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0">

I've been working since 6am to until at least 5 this week. And I haven't even been screwing off like I used to. We are getting buried here. Got a job on Friday that's gotta rip. They started getting reqiupment in, and we need to do electrical plans so they can get their foundation permit. They've gotta rip up the floor in an existing building to build some concrete stem walls.

The thing is, this place used to be a company that grew really fast, then went belly up. They did a lot of work that OBVIOUSLY couldn't have been under permit. There's 3 panels with the same name, and that's done twice, 4 more share two names. And there's all kinds of mistakes. Like 3 circuits feeding one receptacle. The receptacles are 480V 3phase at that. OMG this is a mess. Next week I think I'm just going to work at that jobsite for at least a couple days. Boss things one afternoon. LOL. Funny. And my @ss isn't going up in a scissor lift. There's a buss duct that's rated for 1600Amps. There's currently about 2800Amps connected to it. And we're going to be adding about 600Amps to the duct.

Time to get creative since they won't be using those receptacles (used to be used for welders, it was a fab shop). Just gotta love non-permitted work. 3 panels don't even have panel schedules, but the panels are full of breakers.

There's a very technical name for this: Cluster Fsck.

I purchased a tire machine from Harbor Freight. I use it for ATV, MC and car tires. It works greatBR>It gets bolted to the garage floor when needed and put in the shed when not

The tire irons work but it's hard to keep the rim from spinning. Just make sure that you have the other side of the tire that you are working on placed lower in the rim to give you more room to get the tire off

oops! what was i thinking to even suggest this forum is a waste of time!! (dang creator! you've passed the emoticon bug to me.I haven't been able to post them for the past several posts).

MD, US is like Canada that way. If they're not playing for gold, they collapse like a cheap tent. we either win gold or silver. if were playing for anything less, we always lose. heart's not in it. In the case of the US boys, they were very tired, and prolly choked about their horrible receptions from the crowds.

I have an old Coats 1010 tire changer. manual unit. another place to try for an atv tire changer, that's smaller, is www.babcosales.com . they carry one for fairly cheap. I changed 2 tires tonite on the Raptor 80. i had 20x7-8 on the front, but they were rubbing the nerf bars, so i went to a 19x7-8, and barely notice any difference (still rubbing!).

congrats on the new job. I have several jobs requiring concrete. we have 2-3 major plants/quarries nearby. I've been told they get jobs cancelled sometimes, OR, come back with extra everyday, that I can arrange to have dumped at my place for a cut rate. thinking I'll form some stuff up and go for it. too bad I won't be able to place and finish it that quick. guess I'll need a bullfloat.

sold the raptor 80 AND the Breeze today, to the same guy! lookin for a 250 EX, or maybe a LT160. just bought 10 y/o a 250EX and i can see this one lasting quite a few years in terms of size, power, etc.

I tried the HF special, ended up bendingthe iron it came withSo, I took it back. I went to a local farmers implement house and talk to them. They sent me over to NAPA Autoparts. Ended up ordering a pair of 16" irons. Hopefully they work. With 6 quads, I figure I am spending way to much on the stealerships changing my tires outNeed to give it another try at doing it myself.

Sounds like he has 2 youngstersI would think the 160 is a great size for a kid his ageOf course, he might be a little on the "big" side for it250 is a pretty good size for any 10 year old.

Today I went riding with MWQ and his son. The trails were slippery as heck. had to walk my quad down a hill I am going to call the "Widowmaker"It was nasty. I can't ever imagine bending the bar that came with this one. It's probably about 30-36 inches long and over 1 inch round. You didn't bend one like thatBR>
This tire machine is a pretty big one that can handle car tire like the coats that the Confused one uses

The one I was using was not the size you're talking about. [why doesn't that read right I went riding today with MWQ, after getting back home and cleaning my quad [3 hours later It was to late to get the tire irons from NAPAHopefully I can get them tomorrow.

When I cleaned my quad, I must of removed 50 lbs of Carnegie mud from itNext time, I will use the rinse rack at the park.

Nedley- My son has a Eton 90 and he's 9. I would not put him on a 250. Yes, when we are crusing down a open trail it's pretty slow but when the trail gets technical, the size of this bike fits just right. The 250 would be way too big for him to "handle".

My 10 y/o on the Honda is a heavy kid. The 250 EX is ONLY 30lbs heavier than the Yamaha Breeze125. LIGHTER than the LT160!!

you guys are right tho; if he gets in a hairy situation, could be trouble. from now on, FULL riding gear!!

the 8 y/o will be 9 in a couple of weeks. His heavier brother has taken to calling him Hobbit, cuz he's so light and tiny. Hard to believe he's so skinny with his fast-food brother and parents fighting the battle of the bulge. Spoiled Hobbit wants sompin with reverse & headlights & automatic. I want 4-stroke, shaft drive, footbrake. i think i like gears better than automatic, just for the holdback on hills. autos seem to run away, or ya gotta ride the brakes.

I'm really leaning to sompin Chinese cuz they're de-valuing all the other kids quads out there so badly. if i can't beat 'em, i guess i'll hafta join 'em.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I wanted to go riding, but I ended up taking pee boy to a local dino museum (pretty cool place).

You should not be going into a hairy situation without Full Protection

I own a ETON Viper 90 for Jr and it's been a great little bike so far. I am debating to put a pipe, filter, jetting, and springs on it so I can change the gearing to speed it up. I don't want it to lose any of the bottom end

What kind of tires does it have on it? I know when we went from 22's to 20's, it really gained in the bottom endSo, it gets to speed fasterJust doesn't have the "top end speed"

Posted by: Trasher

I can't tell now cause it's packed away but it ain't 20'sprobably 18X9X8 back and 7's in the front

Posted by: nedflanders

I've read alot of good stuff on the etons. but i don't like 2-stroke, chain, and they don't handle deep water well. PLUS, they're expensive for off-shore (altho i realize they're one of the better ones).

Posted by: Trasher

You don't like the 6" of rear travel, Hyd. rear disk brake, elec. start, and head lights

Posted by: nedflanders

the off-shore stuff I've been looking at has Hydraulic rear disc, shaft drive, 4-stroke, headlight(s), electric start 110cc + reverse!!, but for $800 less. not sure on rear suspension travel. One i looked at had single front a-arms and was a little stiff. they're coming out with double a-arms on this year's model.

It was ridiculous, the spring was setup with about 1/4" of preload too. So it was insanely stiff with basically zero travel. And the tires are pretty stiff too.

I think that type of suspension would only be good for pavement (just swept pavement). That sucks!

From what I understand the early yamotos were concentrating on looks not performance. I mean cmon 9/16 of a inch. Why even bother? But it looked better with a shock on it.

Ah, good to see MWQ make his monthly appearance

I would like to someday modify the rear suspension on the LT-160. I don't know how much travel it has, (probably not as bad as MWQ's) However, it does look better with shocks then without.

Here's a picture on a Clymer's book 1985 lt 125

thanks MD. seller sent me better pics than those. can't tell if there's any front suspension (seems to be none). no front shocks, that's for sure.

Santa brought pee boy a razor mx500 for Christmas. It's the battery powered dirt bike. It goes about 20 mph. I'd buy him the real macoy, but that'd cost me 1k at least. So it looks like I'm the cheap skate.

If I wasnt buying a quad for my wife I would have not even bothered. The lady that I bought mine from misrepresented it slightly. But, I think it was misrepresented to her by Yamoto also. Its great for what the wife does with it.

Those look really cool and no noise to piss off neighbors either.

hoss, you are one cheapass MF. well, actually, not cheap, dumbass MF. why waste time/$$ on an electric toy. get the young feller a PW50 (or one of the many China clones). they're a great bike to learn on. my son started on one around age 3, but really wasn't ready until age 4.

Ned, you have called me worse...I think.BR>
Pee boy usually rides/drives with me (the trails we go on would leave those bikes/atv's broke down on the trail). He rides the razor in the acre of grass out back. I guess I needed to shop around.

I know watcha mean on the trail rides/quads. but you could take him DBike riding too. or let him rip up that pristine lawn with some real knobbies, instead of those plastic wheels. what about all the land & relatives you have in town?? could he ride there?

Posted by: Whitewater

I guess I should have been more specific...the grass is more like mowed weeds. Oh, and the razor bike comes with suspension (limited of course), and real nobbies.

We could go riding several places. My uncle owns the local MX track. However, I don't want to humiliate my boy with a "fake" dirt bike.

a nice KTM50 then! I bought my 8 y/o one of those about 4 months ago. He's ridden it 3-4 times. still nervous, doesn't wanna crack the throttle. his 10 y/o brother opens it up tho. we watched the kids motocross, and 95% of the riders were on KTM 50-65s, and 1-2 riders were on Kawi 65.

Well, look at the bright side. It always starts, no jetting problems, and is quiet

That's why I have a MR50 Honda pit bike. It's a 2 smoke, 3 speed, manual clutch bike that so many have learned on I couldn't tell you. plus, it's fun to trash around the camp

I was ordering a throttle cable at the local yami dealer and the parts guy got the owner and told him I had one of these bikes. He wants to buy it from me. They have all kinds of old Hondas and Yamahas and he has been trying for years to find a MR50 for his collection. If the money is right, ANYTHING is for sale

okay, that's hilarious too. Yep, I'm still a Pong king, and a Tetris king/ Mario 1, 2 &3. the vid-game technology whizzed past me (thank goodness, just another thing to waste my time on! PLUS, i'd be po'ed with all those planned obsolescences).

Nope. The terrorists are enemy combatants and therefore not subject to normal human rights regulations, laws, etc. We could actually hook electrodes up to their scrotums and that would be perfectly fine...

Unless your a democrap looking to make the news and our military look bad.

We are sending military personnel to the stockade for supposed inhuman treatment. I think we had a discussion about how the average American cannot comprehend what actually needs to be done to secure our freedom. Especially after the last war (vietnam) and now the war on terrorism. The enemy does not obey any laws when it comes time to carry-out their bombings or other actions.

usually, if i get into ANY game, its a racing game. And in ANY racing game, the ONLY thing i do is race time trials. Trying to better my lap times. For hours on end. And trying to make that perfect lap.

Thats why, if you get my connected to ANYTHING, and get me on a track, you better be prepaired to sit and watch. haha

sold the breeze and Rap80 last weekend. do you think that $$ could stay in my pocket without burning a large hole??NOT!! so got another 250EX today. 2003, MINT! tires are like new. Renthal bar. DG front bumper. alum belly skid plate. hitch. the owner put $1K down when he bought it, spent all that $$ on those extras, made 18 payments to Honda Finance, and he'll walk away with $500 after loan is paid out. OUCH! and he only got to put on MAYBE 300 miles.

it's too big for 9 y/o, so he'll double with me on longer or more technical rides. he can putt around in other areas. when he hits a growth spurt, he'll be ready. I was INCHES from buying a brand new chinese quad last night, but in 1-2 years, he'll have outgrown it. just like my dad who'd buy my hockey skates 2 sizes too big, and tell me to wear 2 pairs of socks!

We're working on a concrete casting place that's relocating from Fremont. Guys are doing demo work right now. They want it done in about 3-4 weeks. But they still haven't decided what they are going to do for this interior office...that all needs to go into plancheck... And they are going to have a rude awakening when the city kicks it back because of nobody doing Title 24 (well, we're doing our portion of Title 24.)

Title 24 is energy efficiency standards for the State of California for those not in the know...and care. LOL

LOL! Yes you canIt's funny you mention baking. It looks like the rv industry is getting away from LP ovens in trailers. Diable Grande? If that's not it, nope. And that's only because I Googled it.

This place is pretty cool. Used to be UpRight (scissor lifts). New company is consolidating plants in Fremont, Tulare, Modesto and who knows where else. Pretty cool. They have their metal division (metal (Alum.) lids for utility vaults is operational. The toss all the metal in a jig and the robotic welder goes after it while they are moving the last unit into the finished area. They've got a plasma cutter that's probably 8' wide and 20' long. Be cool to watch that thing go to town. The workers love their new shop. I guess it's huge compared to the old place, plus they've got a TON of cranes. Jib cranes all over, plus there's about 6 or 8 cranes that run on beams in "runways" about 40' apart.

Be cool to watch that thing go to town. The workers love their new shop. I guess it's huge compared to the old place, plus they've got a TON of cranes. Jib cranes all over, plus there's about 6 or 8 cranes that run on beams in "runways" about 40' apart.

Yep, that's it. Remember hunting that ranch when it was just that, a cattle ranchNow, it's a playground for the richBR>
That place sounds like a cool place to watch work happenSounds real modern, no real workers other than the ones that watch the machines do their thing

One of these days I'm going to make me a broiler! Everyone looks at me like I'm "Tim the Toolman Taylor" when I say that. It'll probably end up being my "battleship." LOL

Other topic: Talked to a friend (who LJ and I got stuck in the snow with) who recently rode Miami. Said they found a 5' deep rut on a trail...can't remember the name Stagecoach I think. I guess they had to retrieve a Warrior out of it. LOL

I think there's a Springfield in just about every state. That's why they never mention a state, I think.

Sounds nice. Not sure when I'll be back out again. This airsoft thing took it's toll on my last weekend. Think I got shin splints or whatever the hell they are called. Shins hurt like a mofo. From the running and the cr@ppy jungle boots I have. Need to get something a LOT better. Surplus store had some sand boots in. Much more comfy. But might look weird with the woodland BDUs. Next up will probably be some ACU BDUs. Much better camo pattern. Greens, greys and browns in a digital pattern. Especially for around here.

They actually will have a decent crew there. Still have to move all that concrete around with fork lifts. Well, the finished products. They are cutting down on people by using an overhead rail system for transporting the concrete to the machines to form. At their existing plant, it's all done by a bucket on a forklift. The new way is safer. The old machine requires someone to place plastic rings by hand into the running machine, without a safety switch. NOT ME! Normally a machine like that would have a double switch. One for each hand. The new machine (they are bringing over the old unit as well) has a robot that places the plastic ring.

The metals side required a machine operator for each machine anyways. When I was watching them weld up these vault covers after they pull off the finished piece and lay down raw material, they move the finished unit out with an overhead crane. The big suckers that run on I-beams. It's rated for 5 tons to give you an idea. Plus they have, or will have 12 jib cranes (column mounted 1/2 ton units).

We're finally getting a handle on the power. The panels weren't as bad as I thought, well, at least from what we've found so far. But we aren't really working in the section I thought was really bad. Though they keep finding empty 200A switches on the bus duct...worth $1000 each. We're up to 3 now. LOL. Who knows how many 100A and 60A units we'll find before we're done.

Naw. Not mine. But it did involve the use of straps to get it out. So it could have. That sounded like something me and LJ would get ourselves into. LOL

I am guilty for not goingIf I didn't land a jobI might of squeezed it in. You logged quite a few miles in 3 daysOf course, I did make it from Chicago to California in 47 hoursWife still lets me hear about itevery great once in awhile. Anyways, I did cut down 8 trees over the weekend and have about 25 to go.

Creator, WHEN I make it down that way, I'll let you know

From the sounds of it, I think soHow far of a drive is it for you to Gordon Wells?

TIME-OUT HERE!! MD & Job, your avatars look like you're auditioning for the lead role in the next Care Bears movie. Maybe for your city/location, you should change it to Care-a-lot. I mean Hoss was bad with his beastiality fetish, and skinner just scares me with his military games while building up MSB living with mom.... but you guys have gone over the edge here!

I think you guys are using those avies to lure the eleventeen year olds to your lair.

It took me about 2:20 to get to Yuma so I would say about 2:05 give or take.
When we go there we go on the north side and follow the canal road for about 4 miles. There is a crossing there so we air down to about 10psi and power up to the sand highway and into a couple of large bowls to camp. Nobody bothers you up there at all

I'd like to make it up north this summer. The dunes were pretty quiet today. Couldn't help myself and had the go wheelin for about an hour or so in the trusty Burb. Not the smartest thing to do by yourself but I stayed near the roads

Yes we did, we were not that far in at all and most of it was behind us but it was still very dusty unless it was windy like it was late sat thru sun am when we left. It was nice not to have to air down even with 2wd but the wife will probubly never go.

I'm at home for a few days puking my guts out and come back to CARE BEARS? It kind of reminds me of the time I used to spend at the Blue Oyster Club.....img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">

The Care Bears Story:

The Care Bears are a group of adorable, furry friends each with a special caring mission. They help teach people how to care. Every Care Bear wears a bright-colored tummy picture that tells the world who they are and what is their special area of caring.

In their cloud-land home, called Care-a-lot, the Care Bears help each other learn to care. Sometimes they magically bring a child with a special caring concern to Care-a-lot so that they can better teach them some of the finer points of being a caring person. Sometimes, too, the Care Bears have to speed down to Earth to help with some crisis in caring. Wherever the Care Bears go, and whatever the Care Bears do, in their soft, fuzzy, and funny way, they share their special gift of caring with everyone they meet.

Care Bears are kind of like sheep... I wonder if they taste like mutton?

Posted by: ATVrider89

We have 2 of em at work (one s/a, one daully) I wouldn't dare buy one with a 7.3 Diesel. To start off the 7.3 Powerstroke IS THE WORST WINTER STARTER EVER, even our lowboy starts easier than that POS in the winter. Secondly, if it has an automatic tranny, the trans kills the engine power, the d@mm thing can't even climb a curb (the manual tranny is much better its a night and day difference. If I were you I'd look for a real truck like a chevy or dodge.
