Do things slow down up there around labor day? I know around here, it will slow down come Nov/Dec/Jan. Then, pick up again in Feb.

Maybe it will make people think twice about building a city below sea level along the coast... There's a lot of history there, and I feel bad for anyone who loses anything. But that's like the people who live in the San Joaquin River bottom and b!tch when it floods. WTF? Next time we'll just have the Bureau of Reclamation keep things shut until the damn breaks and it KILLS YOU!.

um, against Japan, it woulda been about 35-0 for Canada. But the US is starting to get some great hockey teams, and will soon be the team to beat in the future. i like the way the US throws $$ and sponsorship at sports to be the best. maybe one day they'll figure out how to win at soccer (i'd say that's about the most international game there is... oh, and we really suck at soccer).
did they ever have a cool event up north (Prince George) last night. Hockey fights. no game, just a whole buncha tough guys squaring off and going toe to toe on the ice, in there hockey gear. not like that UFC crap either where they just end up wrestling and choking a guy out. this was toe to toe punch up stuff. then they ended up with several fights in the stands.

Like Skinner said, I am going into Civil Engineering. I have retired from my previous career and need something to do for the second part of my life. Golf, riding and hunting along with a few thingswould be niceHowever, I find it physically challengingI am bored and need a new challengeI know, shoot me in the headOL! A friend of mine, has a firm that he runs and let me come in to play with CAD stuff. I enjoyed it. I decided it was a good career choice for the second half of my adult life

okay MD, now yer just pi$$in me off (or making me jolly-green with envy ). so yer on full pension from the LE job before 40, and now you're after a second career?! you lucky sob.... aww, man, that'd be SWEET. well, hats off to you for having the drive to do something with the next 20 years. I know Clampett and I would just head on down to the local golf course instead of working.
most ex LE and firemen i know end up with a part-time trade. seeing your tiling background, i'm surprised you didn't take the quick and easy road (especially after what your Mrs. said about you being quick and easy). but yer a better man than the trash you chat with here!!img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

LOL! We did tinker with the idea of some venture along those linesProblem is, it takes me to long to do a projectand I pay the price when I try and become to physicalWife wanted a steady income and benefits seeing hers are the pits for being in the medical field. If I could physically work 8 hours a day, day in and day outI definately would be in a trade of some kind. However, I need something that let's me work at my pace. My buddy will allow me to do thatand eventually, the pay would be pretty darn goodMaybe I could re-retire againat the age of 50
And I still feel just as trashy as you guysOL!
Posted by: confusedbuyer
i take too long to finish projects, but you get better and quicker with experience. and if ya just quote by the job, it doesn't matter how long it takes... you just do it at your own speed. essentailly, ya quote handyman jobs and renos for frugal friends and family. when they're paying 1/4-1/2, they don't complain a whole lot.
BUT, if you can stick it out for Xyears (that's Algebra dude!!) in school, you WILL be way further ahead. like i said in the first place, if you have the patience and perseverance (not to be confused with perversion like Hoss has), you'll benefit in the long haul. i guess i just can't see myself returning to school.

great link LJ!! what kinda trade-in do you think i could get for the current model? and good news for you Hoss; there's a male link.
the scary thing about these mail orders is; they get picked by a loser, but know after 1 year of action, they can walk with citizenship, and the loser becomes responsible to sponsor them. it's a sure-fire way to emigrate. i wouldn't trust them as far as i could punt them. we get a lot of Phillipino mail-orders up here, not sure why. I don't think they make better slaves, cuz they're just as cagey.

Ouch. Most of my books we like $40. Then there was the odd-ball $70 book. Worst was Biology at like $120 between the book, the COLORING book (I'm not sh!tting you!) and this packet thing that one of the instructors did.
I don't suppose they came with a free sample of KY did they? LOL. Sounds like you need it.

this joke i heard 2day is just too funny img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif" border="0"> not to share. I'm gonna sanitize it just enuf so ya don't hafta nuke it MD... besides, Skinner has been way more risque lately.
a male and female whale are swimming the ocean when the male sees a whale boat. he becomes enraged and says, "that's the boat and crew that killed me pappy!!" (hey, he's gotta be a western whale for this thread, okay?). he says to the female, "let's take a deep breath, swim under the boat and blast them outta the water with a big exhale. the boat will smash into a million pieces and that'll be the end of them!". the female agrees and off they go. they swim under the boat with huge lungs-full of air. they let 'er blast and the boat flies 1/2 a mile in the air. it lands and smashes into a million pieces. the male is quite content and then sees the crew clinging to pieces of the wreck, floating debris, etc. he becomes enraged and says to his mate, "lets go eat them!" the female absolutely refuses and swims away. he chases her for an explanation and she finally says, "hey, I promised you a BJ, but there's no way I'm gonna swallow the seamen".
hahahahahahahahaha!!

MD, i think being a mature student makes all the difference. when you hit college at a young age not really knowing what you want, or spending your parents $$, it's almost a waste. you're almost set up to fail in that scenario. but if you know what you want, and you've been to the school of hard knocks, this will be easy. just remember, you're in the pinko lefty world now, so tell 'em what they wanna hear, not necsessarily the truth.

How are gas prices?
The expensive station by me for #2 was 3.899 this morning (+20 cents overnight). They are now over $3 across the board (87 starts at 3.099 err it's actually 3.159 now).
Tootled up the 99 3/4s up to MDs place and it was a lot more reasonable all along the road. Low $3.00 (3.10-3.30) at most of the truck stops and stations. One was still at like $2.90. Must not sell much. Old station right by a big truck stop.
#2 Prices in Clovis. Flippin 80 cent spread. The two extremes are less than 3 miles apart too.
Markets today:
Light Crude +53 cents/bbl
Heating Oil +12 cents/gallon
Gasonline +15 cents/gallon

hahahahahaha.. we're only paying $1.10 Cdn....per LITRE!! (3.78 L =US Gallon). $$ exchange is about .84. so: 1.10x3.78x.84=$3.49 That price is around the city where there is a fuel levy to help subsidize pubic transit. in the outlying areas it's cheaper, about $3.05-3.10. it just sux. i don't really get it cuz Alberta produces enuf petrol produts for all of canada. i don't know where we're getting ours from. i think it reinforces that fuel is a commodity traded on the open market, so when the price goes up in one area, we all get it.

Hopefully fuel prices will start falling after this weekend.
Bidding on Strategic Reserve oil starts on Tues. The IEA (International Energy Agency) announced 60 million bbl of oil and petroleum products at 2M bbl/day, with over half being gasoline.
All energy commodities are down today. Light Crude Oil is down 1.88, Heating oil is down 11 cents, natural gas down 7 cents and unleaded gasolline is down 27 cents!
I was floored last night watching Bill O'Reily...he called for the oil companies to knock 20% off of their PROFITS. Bush completely ignored the question on Thurs morning when asked about it by Kattie Couric. We need reporters who when they get guys by the balls like that, they need to squeeze them.

I filled up w regular unleaded yesterday at Noon in Selma at Chevron and it was only $2.83 a gallon. When I get home, the cheapest station reads $3.09. Its freakin crazy!

Post Pismo fuel prices when you get back. I bet diesel is over $4. It was about 3.20 at Mobil on the north end of town at the beginning of August. The only other #2 station is the new 76 there in Grover Beach on Grand around 2nd or 3rd street. Gas is probably 3.25 or more.
Posted by: dancingqueen
#2 in Pismo was $3.38, and regular unleaded was $3.03-3.09.
The beach was pretty packed, it seemed there were a lot of novice riders out. But I had a good time, the bike ran hard. I plan on going back to Pismo again this weekend to get some more riding in BR>

Good weekend here. Went up to Miami with LJ. Took off all over the place on "Let's see where this trail/road goes..." Most just ended (old logging spur roads.) Actually found one that went through. Made it down one trail that used to be REALLY nasty. Impassable by quads. Nice little trail to get a work out on now.

Well, after traveling over this weekend, I can tell you Oregon has it worse then we doTheir diesel was at $3.35img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0"> Here is is $3.23. On a side note, I filled up with Chevron diesel and it againconfirmed that my PSD gets better fuel mileage with itAt 72 mphI was getting 14.43 mpg. That was pulling our camp trailer behind it.

No, these guys were playing very slowly. They should have picked up the ball after about 12 strokesBR>I'm talking it took about ten minutes for them to go far enough down the fairway for us to tee off

WTF was the course marshall doing??up here, they're all over ya on some courses. "play to the group ahead of ya, not the one behind ya". coming from a new golfer, i'm glad to hear you understand the importance of slow play. we're only slow when we have to look for balls from our bad shots. otherwise, we play a good pace. we can finish in 3 1/2 hours (walking), when we go early morning (full size course). a few weeks ago, i played with my dad. he rarely breaks 100, but comes close. we start on the blue tees. I'm asking why?? nothing more frustrating than watching hackers play blue tees. tees are based on your handicap. blues are for single digit handicappers PERIOD! not macho idiots.

Here's the link to the test I talked about: Test. Granted, it is for a 6600 Duramax. But I would assume the filter would perform roughly the same across board no matter which vehicle it's in.

Howdy FBK! I had a great weekend and hope all of you did, too. Oh, PSD food prices in Southern Utah range from $3.15 - $3.30 a gallon.

i drive a 99 f250 with the 7.3 really great truck i have 430000 km on it mostly heavy hauling. It`s been a trouble free truck with regular maintenence. My brother has a 04 with 6.0 and the difference in power is very noticeable and fuel milage near the same empty and the 6.0 is a little harder on fuel under load.

fire fighter01-
Welcome to the forumBR>
You say the difference in power in noticeable. The 7.3 pulls harder?

Someone did a test based on the ISO standards says the K&Ns let a lot dirt through.

Do you want just a filter or a whole system?
Weve got the AFE and are happy with it.

Its starts on 101 south of Soledad somewhere. Lemme look at a map... Oops...my bad. I meant 198....
The mainly east-west route here. It's south of King City as well. 180 actually ends at I-5 east of Mendota.
Yea, that's alittle too far north to consider. Unless of course there was a major accident on 46/41

Do some reading. Youd be suprised. The stock system flows REALLY well. And really you wont see much gain at all. But, every little bit helps. I honestly couldnt feel a difference between stock and the AFE...

I love that sound, I run a 3" single glass pack on mine and at full throttle the intake is louder than the exhaust. It seemed to add 30 hp and sounds SWEET!!. Mine is loud enough to block out all the "whining"

Now that's funny! I thought the same thing this morning. However, I was awaken by a hundred thunder claps at 0500. Wifey was awaken by thunder down under.BR>
And no, I'm not Beech. I'm better looking.
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
Traffic isn't usually a problem for me either. Though I do have traffic tie-ups in the hallway as well. One interestection might get about 20 cars backed up (2 lane funnels to one lane for a little over a mile).
Been nice here the last couple of days. Today is only supposed to be 85. Last night and this morning I drove around with the window down and the A/C off. Amazing how much more giddiup the truck had. BR>
MD, on my towing mileage, not sure, but I went back and figured out. When I towed that 5K load, I was probably about 15 or so I think. I got like 17MPG that tank. About 1/2+ was up there, with half that being really heavy. Job site is like 78 miles one way. Then had a run to Kettleman. So hmm...maybe it gets sub 15. 4.6 with 3.55s is NOT a towing machine. Had a guy ask me last night what kind of mileage I get. His wife drives a 4x4 Tahoe and the gas prices are killing them.
