LOL! Our season is about 5 months. Not that much longer. We tried to di it ourselves in the beginning. Found out we didn't enjoy the pool as much (took to much time) then, we got a pool service, cost is only $35 a monthand worth every pennyPut a fence around it. We did. Finally took it down 2 years ago, after the youngest became a strong swimmer.

We just found out today, our new house insurance is going up $20 a month moreInvestors felt it wasn't inflated enoughfor today's marketIN case the house burnt down.

geez, i'd hope you'd get at least that much! but, it is a POO-laris, and there's only so many morons in Utah willing to trip over themselves for them. img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> .

so now i'm looking for a Honda 250EX (yep, the sport version). i like the shaft drive for low maintenance. very light weight for a 250. and i figure this one would last Jr. a LONG time. so up here, a 2000-2002 model goes for about $2600-3000 (US). but there are very few. i bet down in sport-quad country they go for a lot less eh? like how much for a 2000-2002?

Couldn't blame this one on the insurance co. They argued with the title company and investor on it. But, the investor wouldn't fund unless they (ins. co) upped the coverage to rebuild at a higher market price. So, the price went up. They are nickle and dimeing us big time

I wish we could get moreBut KBB is only saying $1500I'll ask a little more and see what I do get.

I would venture to guess they would go for around the same price. There are also to few on the open market. See a few 400ex's though. But the owners want just about the same as a new one. Around here, there are a lot of banshees and blasters on the market. Can get a banshee for around $4000++ Saw a '03 for $7k. Had a lot of work done to it, but that is more then I would want to spend on one. A blaster goes for around $1500-$1800.

Sounds like a good deal. My supervisor really likes his new salt water pool. Much lower maintenance costs than traditional chlorine.

What a bunch of blood suckers. Thing is, the rebuild cost will be lower than the initial purchaase price, because you already have the land. Investors must own insurance stock as well.

Salt water sounds goodBut I just don't like rinsing salt off of everythingBR>

It's not that much salt. I don't think it really leaves a residue on anything.

I was talking to my mom about house buying now. The market is so out of whack it's almost scary. Especially the people with the interest-only loans. Market collapses and they are pretty much screwed. Not sure what happens, but I'm sure there's something in the mortgages that could be rather unpleasant for the buyer.

SLOW DOWN! Sheesh. Don't be complaining about fuel prices anymore!

I'm on page 53 of 157 of the CA OHV Audit.... Actually rather informative. There's good and bad. But the BS that goes on with funding is highlighted quite well. And pointed out by the authors on nearly every page. LOL Basically every time they asked someone WHY funding levels were what they were, they usually answered because that's the way it is. No rational behind it.

ExactlyCost me $90 to fill her up todayWe'll see how long it last

Are you really that bored
And like you typedNo rational behind itManager's just being too dang stingy to let go of some $$$$ for the park that they run. Seen it at the county levelOne park was always getting new and improved itemsThe other, just kept falling behind. Bottom line, different managers with different philosphies

Curious on what their take is on funding levels.

The way I see itPart of the problem is, no leadership to guide the managersto give us a better park system up and down the state. Each park is to fend for themselves and go by the vision of the manager running it.

The auditors read the laws that apply and based on that, and the legislative intent, say the funding needs to be prioritized towards opportunities, while at the same time being careful of the environment. My take from it is they say more money needs to be spent on acquisitions of land, and that land that's purchased to be set off needs to be at a sane ratio. They seem to take issue with the 5:1 ratio recquired in Riverside County. And also of a proposed purchase near Jawbone that won't provide ANY new riding area! Just gets more land for BLM to manage contiguously, rather than the patchwork of land they have now.

That's pretty much what they said. There needs to be a vision across the entire state that's common to the Division (Sept. Parks & Recreation) and the Commission (the non-gov. people who are appointed that approves funding. As it is now, the Commissioners just vote for what they want, how they want to. The Commissioners seemed to not like changing that. They want the freedom to fund how they see fit. I can see both sides of the coin though.

I think we need to recruit some "Daytime" FBK members. Maybe, everyone is busy buying the 64-pack of Crayons for school...you know, the one with the sharpener in the back. I was envious of all the Crayola users at school...all I had was the crayons made in China...the toxic ones. The ones that were full of Pb and Hg...I guess I shouldn't have eaten them. However, they were quite yummy frosted in Elmer's Glue.

I was actually partial to Prismacolor pencils for school work. Turned out nicely. No bleed through like a pen.

And yes, I know I'm gonna get ripped for this...I actually had to have a coloring book for a plant biology class in Junior College. Class cost like $33 for tuition and well over $100 for books. It was INSANE.

Must be a difference in gearing there. LJ running 3.73s and you're 4.10s? But you've got the bigger tires over stock. I know his are still stock size.

Posted by: Trasher

Bigger tires will kill your performance off the line but will give you lower RPM's at freeway speeds while maintaining the same speed as a vehicle with stock tire size.

Hey all! Just thought I'd bump this thread to the top.

Well, I've been forced to slow down. At 65 mpg, I get 16-17. I have to wear a flack jacket, but damn, fuel is expensive.

Oh, the kiddies go to school tomorrow...and wifey is very happy. Oh, pee boy struck again...this time, it was on the side of the house.

We used to start 30 minutes late on Friday a month. Always forgot when that was happening. Could have slept in a little. And we also got out 2 hrs early once a month as well. Now they get out 2 hrs early every Monday or Wednesday, don't remember which one it is. That's actually why they start so early here now, at least for Clovis. Fresno, who the h3ll knows WTF their schedule is, or reasoning behind it. I'm always seeing those kids leaving at noon.

That guy needs to be taken out behind the 'ol wood shed and given a lesson. Kid will probably end up wrapping himself around a telephone pole.

Posted by: Trasher

Funny you should say that. His daughter wrapped her first car around a light pole within 6 months of her license. In fact, we drove by about two weeks ago and I had him try to explain to me how she lost control due to hydroplane conditions. How she hit a pole of the right side of the road on a right hand sweeping turn is beyond me. I'm sure she was speeding big time also

Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior

Yeah, that's seems kinda funny. But strang stuff happens.

There's one road here that's insane. Completely straight. 50MPH speed limit. It's a designated, oh WTF, I can't think of the name. They get Fed money for it, because it's limited to access every 1/2 mile via lights. Expressway. The block wall on the south side has too many car size patches to count. The PD has no idea WhyTF there are so many single vehicle accidents. Neighbor's daughter went @ss end into the wall. She was rear-ended a day or two before at school (high-school). He thinks maybe something tweaked or broke and finally completely failed while she was driving. She wasn't speeding. Road was clear and dry. It just spun all of the sudden.

glad to hear the moves have worked out for you and Hoss. now i wish our deal would be done, so then we can work on creator to sell next and move next to a golf course somewhere!!

i got the Firestone airbags (air-ride, or sompin like that). no on board compressor, BUT, i have the valves mounted on the side, by back door (driver side), so even one of those portable cig. lighter compressors will reach.

It's a short bed. Shell does add a little bit of weightalong with the sliding tray in the bedHowever, on my buddies F250 6.0. We saw an increase in mpg after his shell and sliding tray were added on.
I know after the tires and lift were addedthe truck lost 2 mpg per itemSo, if I add those 4 mpg back in, I'm getting around 17-20 mpg. Dang tires and lift

I prayed for it to work out for you10 years ago, we lost a ranchettebecause of the contingency, that we had to sell our house.

Those are what I WAS looking atI wanted the onboard compressor, because I didn't want to continue bringing the portable one with all the time. So much nicer to just plug in the hose and walk around the truck/quad/trailer and fill them up
You should notice a big difference in the way it tows loaded now.

I've been to plenty of accidents that JUST happeno rhime or reason. However, it usually goes back to driver error. A little to much speed, inattentiveness, playing with radio, purse, reading something, yelling at kids/wifeor just being tired on a lonely stretch of concrete or asphalt. Little things add up in a hurryOut on I-5, where it runs through our county, I was doing a fatality about every 10 daysimg src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0">We've just had 3 separate accidents, all fatals, in the span of 3-4 days out there. It's the same roadway MWQ drives to work. So, MWQ, be carefulBR>
It's in the middle of nowhere, pretty much straight as an arrow, other then slight elevation changes. Main reason I think is, people get tired from driving and fail to see the signsand want to get where they are going without all the stops. I am one of them driversHere lately though, I do stop more often and on occassion, I let the wife drive

Yeah, I'm a little familiar with that wasteland over there. LOL. Man, how people can drive that road from Bakersfield to Sac, I don't know.

I've only driven 5 from Nees (Fresno County) to the 580 (and 580 to 80). And 120 to 80 up in Sac (not too bad as there's actually some stuff out there to look at...kinda). But yeah, 5 is a friggin wasteland.

Heading up to a jobsite east of Livingston tomorrow. Least that's on 99, but then again, there's like 5x the traffic on 99. And the rigs don't run 70+ over here.

That's what it isWorked that area for many years

Part of the accident problem is the way the road is constructed and nothing to see. Myself, I like it that wayBut I also enjoy driving. My mind keeps me busy. I just think about all the pigs and deer in the hills along I-5BR>
99 definately is the road to drive if you can deal with the trafficHere lately, rigs have been doing 60 mph max. Can't afford to suck to much fuel at 65-70

Yes, DQ, Congradulations on reaching that pedestal

Posted by: rescuediver

Now, back on to the subject at handThe PSDBR>
I paid attention while out and about today. At 70 mph, I am right at 2,000 rpm's. At 65 mph. it's at roughly 1800 rpm's. Every 5 mph below that, the rpm's go down about 150 rpms. So, just keeping the PSD under 2,000 rpm's doesn't vastly improve the fuel mileage. Atleast in my truck. It's the MPH that matter.

Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior

It's gotta be the tires lugging the motor then. Bigger = heavier, plus the gearing change.

Because of the split level at the base of the hills?

Generally don't mind the traffic, until you get impatient people who won't wait for you to slide back over after passing.

This is the trailer that tows weird if the tongue isn't high enough: Jacobsen Selma Hydraulic. (The green tandem is like ours.) Doesn't say how much they weigh empty. Guess a couple grand.

Be interesting to see what kind of mileage I get on the way back.

That's part of it. Biggest part is the long, straight stretches of nothing. At night it even worse. All you see is pure darkness.

Yeah they are. Except our's leaks hydraulic fluid, especially from the left side ram. Don't know why....

Tell ya one thing, man, no more weight then that. Not sure what my mileage was. Was going to fill up after work to see what it was, but I'm probably going to Kettleman tomorrow. I'm guessing, I probably got about 15+ MPG on the way back. Once I got going, it was ok. But trying to accelerate? WOW. The 4.6 showed how much balls it DOESN'T have. I started manually shifting instead of dropping the hammer to the floor. I think I was 5-6K towing (6500 is the "max tow cap." if you believe Ford.) Yeah, I should weigh to see where I am empty. I'll do that one of these days. Back end squated about 1-7/8" with the trailer. So not much.

It's funny, everyone else has problem towing that trailer (even empty). I think it's because they don't know how to load it. Had the scissor lift's midpoint about 6-8" forward of the midpoint between the axles. Scissor lift was 3,000lbs according to UpRight. I think the trailer is about 2000-2500lbs.

Oh, and I get to go back because I forgot the supervisor wanted the controls wired differently because people are complete idiots.

i guess that makes your Subturban the Clampett mobile eh Jed? and Jethro must be your son. (you have my permission to start calling him that).

Posted by: confusedbuyer

got a ridiculously low offer today. tried to negotiate with them, but they wanna steal the place. ain't gonna happen. F'in IDIOTS. we were 30K apart, and i was at my bottom line.

Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior

The office manager and her fiance are buying a place they found in Wisconsin for a retirement place. She's originally from there, was back for a class reunion. 1200 sq ft on the river, not sure how much land, the other place they looked at was 6 acres, with no neighbors (houses.) Price: $133,000. Something like that here would probably go for 650K-1M. It's a 50 y/o house at that. Her family thinks they are nuts for paying that for a place. LOL. He does commercial real estate (leasing office space, etc.)

Posted by: confusedbuyer

ya, it's funny how much area affects price. we looked up North (Prince George) and it was about $1k per acre. we saw a really nice place, 350 acres for $325K. too bad about the climate, and no job either. move to Saskatchewan and it gets even ridiculously cheaper. A PSD will buy you a city block of real estate.

Posted by: Trasher

You can't tow your toys with a city block thoughrather have the Mighty PSD

Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior

And it's probably easier to resell the PSD.

Posted by: dancingqueen

Well, at State, crashing is a little easier (sometimes). Usually when a class is full the professors are given 8-10 permission numbers. That means the university is allowing professors to add 8-10 more students, but some teachers dont want the extra work and will not allow anymore to add. This happened to me again yesterday! I swear, I dont understand why it has to be this hard! I tell the professors I need this class to graduate, and they dont even care.

I just needed to vent a little, I swear they are going to make my last semester hell!!! LOL...

On another note, its friday!!!!

I was registeredI have been registered since before last semester (spring 05) ended and since I am a graduating senior I have priority. There is also a lack of teachers at State, there are too many students and not enough teachers/classrooms. So I WAS registered at the right time. But you can see how classes that only allow 18 students are going to fill faster than others

Yes, I got the classes I need, but I had to change my school schedule about 10 times, not to mention I had to change my work schedule as well...thank god they were willing to work with me.

DQ, I feel your pain on crashingI will be doing that Monday nightI registered back in April. Been hounding the college to get me my registration date. For some reason, their NEW system was jacking people around(me included) When I did get my date, it was a week after everyone else. Then, the morning registration opens up, I get an emailtelling me I missed my time framelike WTF is up with that??? The college again, blames it on "the new system" Fortunately, I did get in the one class that is offered only during the fall semesterBut, I want to get in another class. Pretty said when the wait list is longerthen the list of students allowed in the class

IIRC, asking price was 137 or 138. I thought it was 137. The guy accepted it, on the account he takes the built in entertainment center. They were ok, they were gonna yank it out first thing. LOL. I think the guy is a finish carpenter as she said there's a LOT of really nice finish carpentry around. Too bad though...she's a minimalist and they'll probably rip 1/2 of it out.

Me too.

I went out and blew through 2 hi-cap magazines in my bro's M4 air-soft gun. (MD...maybe the county should look into those for CQ training.) That's about 400 rounds. That thing has the accuracy of a blind man. LOL. I think I've about got it down. I'm going to only shoot dark ammo, I can see it. The white, or light ones, forget it.

The weight it pretty darn close, but probably lighter than the "real thing." But some of them you can get metal bodies for that add the weight. Most are plastic. They started in Japan, Korea, etc. where the general public can't own firearms. Most are complete copies, but not licensed so when they get imported they mark out the copied logos, unless they are licensed. A couple companies have licenses so you get them and they are exact copies, down to the logos. One M4 we looked was a metal body and licensed from Armalite so it had the logos, and an actual serial number. Pretty sweet. The one we ended up with has these plastic things over the names...which come off revealing the name. LOL. Does a slight amount of damage. But the metal replacement bodies have everything plan as day.
