There's some issues around here with supply. That's a big part of it.

I go a week on about 20 gallons. One fill-up on the company card was $70. Man, I remember the first time I popped $70...it was in a flat bad truck a couple years ago! And that was for about twice what the F-150 holds. Flat bed is like twin 18 gallon tanks. And to fuel that thing you can barely put it on the first handle notch. Bad design in there. Stand on the island..because it belches out before it kicks off. F-150 is 26 gallon, 23 or so usable before she starts yelling at you.

OUCH. Need to get the bicycles out once the weather cools off.

The boss now wants our guys to carpool up to the job outside of err uhh WTF town is that...Livingston in Co. trucks. LOL. But leave their trucks on the job site. Now that makes since. Wonder how long until they start getting stolen and vandalized...

We are running 4 trucks 180 miles round trip (guestimate) per day 4x wk. Getting probably upper teens. My guestimate is $425/wk in fuel (@17MPG). And those guys have heavy feet.

LMFAO. That would go over as well as me at a <insert religion> convention. BR>
I'm guessing 17 based on my not-the-best highway mileage. The boss tells everyone 20. LOL. I think EPA is like 19 for my truck, which is lighter (short bed, everything else is long bed) and newer. Plus the other trucks have ladder racks (slight wind resistance + weight).

I'm getting 19 on the highway. At least to Pismo and back. Very little city driving on that tank. Drove about hmmm 7 miles here getting on the highway, then off of 101 on 1 and down Dolliver to Pier Ave and down to Pole 6. Left there went to McDs on the way home on Grand, then back down Dolliver through Pismo and go on at Price or whatever it is passed the Mobile One.

Purely around town I get about 13.5.Most tanks are in the 14-15 range if I get on the highway.

I've only actually had a couple tanks that were over 90% highway and both of those were 19MPG tanks (last Pismo trip and a trip up to Tracy a few months ago when all hell was breaking loose.)

hmm, think PSD. well, this darn camper i have is 11' 5", with an extended overhang (north/south bed). man, is it HEAVY, on a dually! and with the enclosed trailer, i'm really not much further ahead than i was with my 30' TT and quad deck. somehow, i thought i'd be a little lighter, but it's barely noticeable. only all the lost trailer/camping space is noticeable img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0">

I'd have to go back and figure out which trips. I think I was still up about 16-17 running up to Tracy one time. But it was with a utility trailer so there wasn't a lot wind resistance, just the weight. It's a 4.6 with 3.55 gears...it's not made for towing! LOL Though it does have the full tow package.

I would postulate you'll probably even get worse mileage too. Gotta push that camper through the air. Or it might be a wash because the trailer will be in the void left by the camper. A lot of the people don't read the towing guide and notice that Ford says you have to decrease the tow capacity based on the frontal area of the trailer (I think if it's over 81 sq. ft. but I could be wrong, I have been before...shhhh)

The Book of Job...

THERE was a man in the land of aUz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that efeared God, and eschewed evil.

And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.

His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses (AKA: Dancing Queen), and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

And he loved FBK and bowed down to Hoss and gave unto him his sheep, and all was good.

On another note, my jeep apperently doesnt like wheel weights.. Its throwing em off daily. I gotta call big O

Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior

LOL. We had a truck throw weights a few months back. Definately wasn't good vibrations on that.

Speaking of vibrations:

I had a serious vibration when braking on the F-150. Took it in Tues after talking to a service manager.

New front discs ($200+)
New stearing gear ($700+)
Turned rear rotors (just labor)

All paid under warranty. There was a TSB on the issue. WHEW.

Its starts on 101 south of Soledad somewhere. Lemme look at a map... Oops...my bad. I meant 198....

The mainly east-west route here. It's south of King City as well. 180 actually ends at I-5 east of Mendota.

It was awesome up there. But I wanna kick some A...next time we're taking trash bags with us. We got a little confused by some directions and made a loop at one point. LOL

Nope, no DQ. Not sure what happened to her. She never said anything back about going. If she's still stock on her gears she would have been hating life. But I wonder how the fsck the two guys we seen got a friggin Suburban (of all things) up there. It was tight for the Jeep! I think they actually had it airlifted up there. LOL. (Of course that explains the street tire tracks that LJ found...) I've got about 1 hr of video I need to grab.

This was just general clunking noises from time to time. Maybe stuff shifting around. Could have been the sway bar...sometimes it was...SOMEONE didn't put the holders on to hold it when it was disconnected... One bungee cord, some zip ties...didn't make it. LOL The second time we bungeed it, it stayed.

The locker wasn't making any noise. Couldn't here it engage. But you could here it release the air to disengage.

Those 4.56s are pretty low. Had to give it gas to actually keep the Jeep from stopping 4Lo-1st. It was idling up some pretty good stuff. We did go up a section a bit quick at one point...in 4Lo-2nd. That was interesting.

I got some video of this cloud forming out in the back country of Yosemite. It started heading our way, then some thunder...we decided the better part of valour was to get our @sses out of Dodge and off the mountain. LOL

Thats' why they tell you to bring double of everything when headed out in the back country 4 wheeling. Never know what your going to need. Bailing wire is really helpful in the situation you guys were in. Glad it worked out with the bungee cordBR>
And I wouldn't know who you are referring to in the "SOMEONE"BR>
Smart thinkingon getting out of dodgeStorms like thatyou don't want to push your luck and get caught in the middle of. That's when people get stranded and need to be rescued.

Mine is doing pretty good Hoss. We're looking at ONLY 97 today. WOOHOO! LOL. Not quite as nice as the 70s yesterday in the high country, but I'll take it.

Made a little money for an hours worth of work. It's amazing what you can get in a storage unit. I think we left there and there was more floor space after adding a couch and a desk. lol.

Going to go see a movie now. Couple good ones came out this week.

Still running $3.20-3.50 here.

Filled up the 150 last night at $2.799 (company dime, wasn't sure I'd make it to a cheaper station (2.739) before they closed). It was just a little shy of $60. The cheapest around is about $2.619 for 87.

Considering it should probably be 650-850 CCA. And considering the PSDs are running two (parrallel, so you double the CCAs). Not sure 410 would have cranked over my Daewoo. It had a 650 CCA battery. And that was only 2 liters at like 9:1 compression. Not 7.3L @ 16:1.

just got back from a 4 day quad trip. lotsa great riding and pics (sorry, all SLR 35MM, no digis). saw a couple of black bears. we were camped all alone, for free, right on this river that's more like a creek right now. It was prolly around 80 degrees, and REALLY dusty. boy, was that river nice for bathing, relaxing, keeping stuff cold. the deepest part was about 4', so we didn't have to worry about the kids. JUST started raining here... i guess we need it after a month of sun.

Considering it should probably be 650-850 CCA. And considering the PSDs are running two (parrallel, so you double the CCAs). Not sure 410 would have cranked over my Daewoo. It had a 650 CCA battery. And that was only 2 liters at like 9:1 compression. Not 7.3L @ 16:1.

ooops! shoulda checked my figues before posting that one. i thot like 100CCA would do it. obviously i'm WAAAAY wrong. oh well, look at it this way skinner, it gave ya a reason to respond to one of my posts!

Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior

100CCA? Would that even crank over a quad motor? I guess it probably would.

Posted by: confusedbuyer

I THINK quad batts are around 70cca (for the smaller ones i work on for the kids), so i musta thot 400 was huge.

wow, GREAT warranty. so, what's wrong with the batt. with 410 CCA?

The PSD needs around 600 CCA's out of the batteries to turn over. So, with the right side battery at 0 CCAs, the left one didn't have enought to turn the PSD over.

The old batteries had 750CCA each. The new ones are at 1000 CCA each.

It was prolly around 80 degrees, and REALLY dusty. boy, was that river nice for bathing, relaxing, keeping stuff cold. the deepest part was about 4', so we didn't have to worry about the kids. JUST started raining here... i guess we need it after a month of sun.

It was fixed in two days. It also blew up the adjacent railway, phone lines, and high voltage power transmission lines.

It's amazing how fast they can move to repair something. But they take their own sweet time when they first build it.

Hey, what was the last year the 7.3 liter was available? 2002 or 2003?

Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior

2002 for full production. There are some early 2003s with 7.3s.

It just doesn't have the same affect when you have to explain it to someone. It's like this: if you fling enuff poo at the wall, eventually something will stick. so, if you keep throwing out enuf lame comments, eventually something might be accidentally funny or even clever and witty. (like MDs unintentional perverted comment about DQ...which BTW, i never construed as perverted until MD brought it up).

DON'T tell the war department that!! she'd love to waste 40K on a pool. up here, a pool can be a curse to selling a house. we're too lazy to keep them up, and the season is only about 4 months. and concerns about kids around the pool, etc..

oh yeah, and our current house ins. is way high at $1100 cuz of 2 wood burning fireplaces.

face it, yer an addict now! i was gonna play tomorrow, but prolly not now (too late; 1:30PM). but on the weekend, i'll play with my dad in Kelowna. as i was packing the trailer for our ride last week, i was cussing up a storm and told the wife from now on, the whole family is taking up golf and no more quadding. when we want to leave by noon, we're never packed up before 8PM. and the maintenance for 4 quads is too much. MD, how the heck do you look after all that equipment??
