Wifey and I had lightning strike so close that it hurt. We could feel it go through our head and down through our feet (ouch)…and then had to ride off the ridge in a hailstorm (without raingear).
I hope all of you have a good 4th (except for confused)…he&39;ll be at work.hr>
HI Hoss, You enjoy your 4th of July weekend tooSounds like the fireworks had already started for youThat suxs being that close to lightning strikeA few years ago I was about 1/4 mile away as a strike obiterated a tree on the side of the road we were on. Know what you mean about feeling the effects.
How far away were you camping from the house? Seeing you can ride out from your garage

You really don't want to knowBR>
how can you sustain a streak of consecutive 100 posts per dayshr>
Not gonna happen. WIth the site being down and the washing machine on gentle cycle with a small load not much to do. I'll be lucky to pull the 50 out today. So much of the rest of the site just doesn't yank my chain anymore. Seems like it's been taken over by 15 y/o kids. Instead of 25+ y/o people acting like 15 y/o kids at times. LOL

Oh and to stay on subject.
Tried the 100hp program on the predator today, puts out ALOT of smoke. ahah
I cant run the program since i keep getting into somesort of overboost protection above 25psi and the CEL comes on.. But its fun below that. And yes the tires DO spin from a stop!! Even got some smoke goin. hehehe
Ive got it on the 60hp setting with FIRM shifts and it feels pretty good. THough, you cant really tell untill you UNPROGRAM it and run it stock. Which i have yet to do. (just WAY to much fun)
DAD also REALLY needs to get a larger downpipe and finish the exhuast as the EGTs even in the 60 can get in teh red. Maybe even a better intake.

I cant imagine running a total stock exhaust!
Really though i only got in the red going uphill passing a truck WOT on a hot day. Its fine on flat ground.
Even the 80hp program ran OK EGT wise. Just have to back off a bit.
Now i need to find a good downpipe and 4" tubing to get back to the rest of the 4" stuff. Thinking it can be done under $200 bucks.

My brother added the predator to his truck. And has on occasion, turned it up to it's max H.P. something like 120 hpEverything on the truck is STOCKI tell him he's hurting the engine everytime he does it. Can't tell him anythingThen, when someting goes wrong, he "says I didn't tell him"
With you doing the work, I don't see why you couldn't do it for around $200.

Are you going to try the cab-over before you get rid of the tt? Or just saying the heck with itand go for broke with a new set-up?
Posted by: confusedbuyer
ya, new set-up. enclosed trailer like a Wells Cargo. i'll throw some bunks in the enclosed trailer, and maybe a window. i know the TT space will be missed. but this set up will be shorter, and allow us in more places. the quads are getting bigger and heavier, and i think the alum quad deck has become a tad small, plus it seems like a lot of weight on the truck (i mean with all the quads). also, can always pitch a tent too. but none of that is gonna replace the luxury of a 30' TT.
Posted by: rescuediver
Your right, the 30' tt will be missed. I thinkyou will be looking to get another one, after a few trips and the complaining THAT will be heardBut, for the same things you mentioned. Size of quads and access to some areas. I am re-thinking about my choices on trailers. IF it was only Pismo, then the one I have already chosen, is the choice. However, going to the Sierras and say Hollister OHV. I am limited in the areas it will go. Especially the heigth of a 5th wheel. I'd probably end up tearing the a/c unit off
Posted by: confusedbuyer
just put the new mc/atv lift in the garage. man, this thing takes up a bit of room. but it sure is gonna be sweet to work at 48" height, instead of breaking my back the way i was before.

Helped a friend move today. Oi. Too dang hot. But she's a nice place now. Was a ghetto place out W. of Reedley. Now she's north right on the east spur of the Kings River. Walk 100+ feet out the door and you're in it. A little further away is a small dock sitting there. Gotta run outboard there. Only like 4' deep. Or a trolling motor.
I passed out last night and woke up this morning. LOL. A was a *little* tired.

There were heading to the back. Seen them climbing that grade going past the store. A little "noisy" but they didn't appear to be taking any damage.

VW actually makes a pretty good TDI from what I heard. I know they put them in the Golf. It's nown for darn near 50MPG highway, IIRC.VW Engines page Ok, I'll have to admit...for some reason Flash isn't working. But that page was a hit when I searched "beetle diesel" on VW's website.
Edmunds article mentioning the TDI Beetle, but focusing more on the clutch pedalless 6 speed manual. Like the Eaton Autoshifts in the big rigs in that it's a manual, but the cluth is computer & servo controlled. It can run full auto or you can manually shift it.

b&rw, I just never saw one in a bug before. My neighbor used to have a vw rabbit that was a diesel. That thing got about 55 mpgHe used to commute to Livermore everydayAlways bragging about getting something like 600 miles per tankWouldn't that be sweet todayI remember though, the maintenance cost on it was high. Nothing seemed to be cheap
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
VW is REALLY pushing the TDI big time. 80% of engines sold in Germany by VW are oil burners. They are hoping to push up to 20% in the US. We just aren't big diesel fans here. They're are a little sluggish I guess off the line but work well 30-80 from one article I read. Funny to see a motor rated at 100HP and 170 lb ft of torque in a car. The new diesels are getting so clean (getting the big particles and soot out of the exhaust) and quiet I think the public will start to accept them again. The only bad thing on the new diesels is they have high NOx emissions. But everything else is less. That's on dino diesel. The emissions drop even lower on Bio.

I think too many people have the idea that diesel vehicles throw large, huge, billowing clouds of black smoke in the air. That used to be the way in the past years. Now, I only see that with school buses and city buses. Or a chipped out PSDBR>
I have read somewhere, that if we use more diesel or bio fuel, our daily demand for oil per day would drop. As a purchaser of diesel fuel, I just see the price going up. And, I'm not buying the supply and demand explanation. I just think it's gouging

I hope all of you had a great weekend! Yes, even you confused one. I'm not even going to attempt to reply to all the quips, and bantor of the past few days. However, I must say I have enjoyed reading them and laughing my ass off. I did read something about mormon girls, miss kitty, and skinner's lack of punta.
Well, I didn't go to the mountains over the weekend (which is only minutes from my house). I didn't feel like spending my time with 100,000 other people. However, I did go boating, and that was pretty nice. I'm still a little sore from wrecking on the knee board...I forgot to let go of the rope.
Small town parades:
The small town parade consists of dump trucks, horses, tractors, the local marching band, 14-year old girls that look 20, and last but not least, the guy with the 78 Trans-Am. I'm still suffering from candy shrapnel, and snowcone brain freeze, but I'll survive.

I have a pair of motorolas that are similiar. Probably one of the first that were on the market. They worked alright. I used them with the kids when they first started riding. Would tell them when to shift, stop or whatever while at Pismo. The chatterboxes are a little nicer, with the fancier boxes

It was Cdn $$, but that's still about $800 US with current exchange rates. my dad recently retired from Ford as a parts manager, so he had connections and got the price down to around $680 (Cdn). BUT, my 20+ years of no accidents entitled me to a mistake with my ins. co., at no increase in premium. so what the heck, i'll save the $$.
the mirror is electric and extends out. looks a bit like an accordian in the middle where it extends. the sad part was the damage was minimal and this thing coulda been easily fixed, BUT, not when the truck is brand new. if it had been me, i woulda kept the old one for a spare, and fixed it.
Posted by: confusedbuyer
the even dumber thing is; the cost to my ins co is irrelevant. in other words, i coulda wiped out a carload of lawyers, had my co. pay out 2-3 Million in claims, and it's still be a freebie to me in terms of my rates. well, i'm glad this one was just a minor hic-up.

I bought a couple bags (the one's with the seat), a few years ago, and they suck (not water proof / resistant). If I'm out camping, I have to take a tarp. However, they have huge pockets that velcrow, zip, and latch with straps. The one's I want are $250 each.BR>

LOL... funny that you say that! I have had my vacation request in for a few months now and the dates are 7/22-27. So maybe, I might be there If Im not there, I better be in SIN CITY!!
now that's funny you say "sin city". a couple of years ago, one of those US gossip shows (i think it was either Hard Copy or Entertainment Tonight) called Vancouver Sin City of North America. I guess OFC can attest from the "massage" parlors, and peeler bars, and happy lettuce availability...... but c'mon! it's not REALLY Vansterdam like they claim it is here!
anyways, so when are you gonna be here? 22-27?

I always thought of Sin City as Vegas. Vansterdam would never enter my mind as such a place. Of course, now that you descrbed it as suchI may just have to check it outBR>

of course. Vegas is baaaad! WAY WAY more sin-ful than Vancouver on our worst day. but i'm only repeating what the yaps on Hard Copy (best guess) said. and as always, they probably just siad it to grab attn.

Now, I can see him her-assing her to the point where she might give inI mean, with him being in Utah, the local police around here can't do muchto protect her from being stalked. There is no federal predator data basewhere she can check him out

i was watching the US news 2nite about the POS who killed the family and abducted 2 of the kids... a waitress recognized one and called police.. they got the girl but haven't found her brother. anyways, this guys history is all about violating people. if people like him are vaporized, what loss has anyone suffered, even his own family?? good riddance!
okay, well we're approaching page 300 and i thought 1 out of every 10 pages should have some PSD chat. so i finally got around to taking my PSD into the dealer for a code reading. 2 different error codes for the cam, and an exhaust (back pressure??) error code. mechanic said it almost always shows an exhaust error code. soooooo, i bought the new cam position sensor. if i can locate it, it looks pretty simple to replace. and my old codes got erased.
the downer is that i have 35,000 miles of warranty left on the engine, but i ran out of time a year ago. img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

One thing you shouldn't do, is clear the OBD-II DTC codes. Let the computer clearn them. Find out what the Drive Cycle for the truck is, and do that to let it clear. They are usually weird, but that's what they are for.

I have a feeling the guy probably raped the boy first and offed him. Then kept the girl around. His first conviction was at 16 for raping a 14 y/o boy. He needs to be put out to pasture if you know what I mean.

Always been partial to Motel 6 myself. LOL. But then again, I'm not trying to keep a wife and kids happy. One in Pismo somewhere. I know there's one on Fourth & 101 in AG, behind the Denny's & ARCO.
Need to work on that TH. Sell the TT. Then you don't need to bring 2 vehicles....especially with these gas prices!

I knowFor these trips though, we do need 2 vehicles, to many people to fit in the PSDFuel prices really aren't the problemwe can make it there and back in just over a tank of fuelIt's just more reason for something to go badAnd I like traveling as a family in one vehicle
I told the wife, seeing we need to take 2 vehicles, I want to take the TT and I'll stay on the beach. She and HER family can stay at the hotelI'll just shower thereBR>
I am hoping to have my toy hauler by October'ishThat way, it's ready for Thanksgiving

I think B&RW is talking about the Oxford Suites or the Econo Lodge, they are usually the cheapest. They are located in Five Cities.

Well there's also the Oxford Suites right at the top of the 4th street ramp. I've stayed there (courtesy of PacBell ). Pretty nice. Free breakfast and drinks at the bar. There's a Denny's next door. Then the ARCO. The Motel 6 is around the corner. Go left on 4th street to towards the beach. You're also close to the outlets as well. There's #2 down there if you need to fill up for some weird reason. You can just run up 4th street to Grand Ave. in Grover Beach. Hang a right and 1/2 mile to the sand...or maybe a mile. I go that way when I don't feel like driving all the way down Grand, or going through Pismo (whatever street that is...I always forget. Price? or the next one.)

it's pretty darn close here too! very little depreciation. but then there's the tax issue, where you save about 10% buying used.
sooooo, just got home from a very long day. 4 hours of riding ferries (go ahead guys, jump all over that one!img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0"> ) to go to Victoria on Vancouver Island (look on a globe; it's bigger than most states). anyways, found a mirage trailer (built in USA). check their website; i got the M816TA2 model, with the platinum package. i'll TRY to do a link. Text i saved about $2500 on what new would cost, and this is 1 year old, used about 6 times.

Actually most of them take the quick way and just delete them with the scan tool. Drive Cycle usually takes an hour to complete. Or at least 30 minutes.

Sorry to change the subject, but what gearing are you running in your Jeep?
3.55s
Keep telling that boy he needs to regear! I think he's going to move to 4:56s when he does it. Lockers too when he does that.
LOL... well Im running 3.07 with an automatic. Going to 4.10 and an EZ Locker up front this August (I only have a D35)

OUCH. You're running like 33 or 35s aren't you? They look pretty tall.
EZ Locker...that the cable operated locker? Sounds like the one LJ is looking at getting. ARBs are a little out of his budget. Think like 1500 for the gears and almost 2K for the lockers, compressor and labor. I think he's got D40 or 44s. Rear is limited slip, but may not be working right.
