Ok, that's it...I'm gonna move up there and live in LJ's TT....Miami fricken ROCKS now. LOL.
We broke the Z is pretty well. Like 60 miles well. I think LJ must be giving it a bath right now. She wasn't all that white at the end of the day.... No longer is 25 miles there an all day affair. It's smooth, but tougher than Hollister. Err...sorry...no more CA riding stuff. Sorry. I just couldn't hold it in.
I'll have to get the digi working...the "Got Rut?" pic in my page doesn't exist anymore. It's smooth with water bars now.

Yup. Right at 60 miles.
Im loving this thing. I never knew how much abuse you(now me too) sport guys took. lol This thing beat me up. I guess i gotta mess around with the suspension a lil bit.
Anyways, shes all clean now and ready for the next ride(pissssmo) unless i get the urge to ride again. LOL
Gonna try and put a nice coat of wax on it and do some maintence tomorow.

I put mine to the softest setting and like the handlingI don't worry to much about bottoming out the suspension. So, if your riding real hard and jumping, maybe you need to set it for a stiffer ride. But, that will eat you upespecially on 60 miles

Went 4 wheeling with my brothers and their Jeeps today, up around Cherry Lake/Clavey River. Had a blast. The area was hit real hard this year by all the snow up there. Moved a few "big" trees that fell across the roads. Came across a rock slide that stopped us in our tracksThought about going over itBut quickly thought "common sense was the better part of Valor"Had a bear stop in the middle of the road about 150 feet in front of us. Started walking towards us with an "attitude" I'll try and post pics tommorow. Then, I do need to pack for Pismo

that's funny !! LMAO. hey, i thought i put that hickey in a place you wouldn't find (at least that's what Mrs. WW told me). and it's
"O-Canada" (altho it should be Owe-Canada). as for the "golden" boy.... I told him to have a shower, but i never expected it to be into the wind! oh, BTW, they got these new things called"airplanes"; cuts down on the travel time just a wee bit.

Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
I think the 6.0 problems were a few very vocal people. It should be good to go now, if you're looking for new. '04 TorqueShift had a recall or TSB for some clip. Other then that, been good. Don't know anyone who has a problem. But don't know many with them.
ANd yeah, been quiet. Been haning out in the Spin Zone as can be seen by my post ho score going up.

I love it.
See my gallery, it has pics of the truck & trailer I have along with our atvs.

Welcome to the club GITRDONE! We like to ramble, but we always seem to get back to the powerstroke.
Posted by: confusedbuyer
wow GITRDONE, that's a monster of a toy hauler!! you must be able to get a lot of toys in there.
I've been busy reno-ing the bathroom, and almost finished last night. just hafta raise the light fixture, and mirror, install baseboards. the new leaky toilet from Home Depot didn't help. just turned on the heat for the floor and it's awesome. i'll post some pics soon. it looks good.
hey creator, we're going golfing this Fri & Sat !! it is addictive. i'd golf more if it wasn't for the kids wanting to atv so much!! but it does start to get expensive. especially in your 'hood.
okay, i'm still a little scared of the 6.0. my friend has a 550 flatdeck with that powerplant. he's had a tranny replaced at low mileage which took Ford forever to do (especially when you're holding up a guys livelihood). also, i've heard a few mechanics say there's no substitute for cubic inches when it comes to making power.
Posted by: Whitewater
I'm almost finished with my bathroom, too. I have a couple more days of tile work to do, and I need a hot tub guy to come and fix my tub, but then I'm done (with that project...only 100 more to go). I have a boiler in my home, and wish I would have put that in the floor. I bet u'll like that.
Well, the truck is going to turn 100k this week or next (no more warranty). I'm just debating if I should throw some $$$ into it now (chip, exhaust, gauges, possible another 2" lift), or sell it for a new/newer 6.0 liter.
I get killer discounts through my work (7-10K off new ford products), but even with the rebate, I'm not too keen about a $650-700 a month truck payment. I pay a grand now a month for the truck and the jeep. Luckily, my ATV trailer, 5th wheel, and ATV's are paid for.

That's why I golf when I'm out of town Went again todayand paid $22.00 hard earned bucks for a bucket of balls at the range, 18 holes of golf, and the cartSo cheap you can't pass it up. Better than sitting in a hotel doing emails........
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
WW, keep the truck a while longer. You're warranty is up, so you are at about equal to 36K miles on a car. They go for 100K. You should be good to 300K if you keep on top of it. Sock money away in a savings account towards a new[er] truck down the line.
Anyone know about the roumered 6.6L Twin Turbo PSD in a couple years?
The problem with big displacement motors is getting the emissions down. Tech. advancements will allow us to get back up there, but it might take a few years. Be interesting how well a V10 or 12 diesel would sell. Get the displacement up, but a smaller cyllinder which helps with emissions.
Never played golf...just miniature golf. LOL

wow, great price. we get hammered here on greens fees. average full-size (par 72) course is about $45-50 weekday. weekends are more. I play the cheapest course around, we play early-bird (which is discounted) and during the week it's $35 (tax-in). there's a really nice course just outta Seattle called Kyack. they charge $29 and it includes brekky, lunch, golf, and cart.
Posted by: Trasher
Yeh, In SD the fees are crazy. These courses are in the middle of nowhere. It's pretty cool to pull up, pay, walk up and tee off. Playing by yourself (not with you nutz) goes pretty quickly. 18 holes in about 2.5 hours

I cant figure out the whole golf thing... $50 shells for a freakin round of golf. Holy bat sh!t. I could fill my truck with fuel pay camp fees for a weekend and ride the tires off my quad for that kinda money. Im just to used to playin with my big balls I dont think i could get used to battin around them little ones. I understand though once you get married the wives usually stick most or all your balls in their purses. so i could see how your used to playin with the little balls.. now tell me why is it that the higher up you get in the corporate ladder the smaller the balls you tend to play with? Us blue collar folk "OK Im Blue Collar at Heart" be play sports like Bowling with a 16 lb ball or football with a big ball or rugby with a big ball or vollyball with a big ball or basketball with a big ball. then you get up to a lil more White collar sports less contact and violence you get baseball and tennis although i would have to say that though lacross has a small ball it takes big balls to play it next we climb the ladder even higher and we get to golfers. WTF ya'll walkin round the course in your fancy white shoes and your shiney clubs and plaid old man shirts with some khaki shorts or sompin. sheesh. Golfers look goofy.

I used to think it was a pretty stupid game until I finally played it. Now I try to play all the time if possible.; Never did it until my older boys can play along. It's great that we get out and spend some time trying to beat Dad, which they do

I know 4 people with the new 6.0.
One just had a new a/c unit put in.
And one had a injector problemwhen he first got it. He's had it about a year now. So far so good
Other 2 have had no problemsand love them.

well if Hoss AND ofc don't like golf, that's pretty much like dumb and dumber providing their ratings. therefore, it must be a great game. i think i might sell all the quads and get the kids into golf. so much more refined and sophisticated. wow Festus, that was some kinda ball rant. i don't like carrying around 16 lbs of balls. the MSB is just too painful, and it makes ya chase alley-cougars and wake up in those awkward coyote situations where you'd rather chew your arm off than awake the "princess" (Hoss, insert animal of your choice here).
where's the love? what's with the Ned bashing? he's about the coolest dude on this entire thread. ome of his biblical quotes were classics. c'mon Hoss, ya got miss Kitty out, how but summoning up Ned?
well guys, i'm off for the weekend to travel and GOLF with my 2 brothers and dad tomorrow and Sat. Enjoy the riding.
BTW MD, i'd love to spend the summer enjoying the fruits of our labor. but alas, the ball-reducer/controller will make those decisions. i'd rather see a big real estate crash so it'd be cheaper for me to upgrade. otherwisae, why move? that 320 acre spread in the North was sure beautiful, but no job= no acres.

for me MD, i wanna compare apples. guys say they love their PSD, or Cummins or Duramax. BUT, they don't pull big weight, so naturally it'll be great. pull my load and then i can make a TRUE comparison. but you never get a chance to try and compare them that way. plus the longevity of that kind of work.

DaBeechboy has Miss Kitty on a short leash. I think she has to have his permission, before she can come out and play. Either that or she&39;s easily inseminated…ur…I mean intimidated by our “Man” trucks.
Yeah, I haven&39;t seen Nedly for a while. He must be in Tulsa at “Oral” Roberts University, studying Christian bigotry 101.

That started over in the spin cycle. He found where he can get old episodes (I'm assuming on DVD since they are coming out with all these old shows on DVD.)
Got 8 hours on the clock until I'm out of here today. The weather is insane...it's fsckin RAINING! WTF is up with that? If I wasn't off to Pismo in the morning (riding over with LJ in the PSD and going to hook up with MD and QuadKaryn for the day.) I'd be heading up to the mountains for some riding. Gotta be awesome up there with NO dust because of the rain.
THe rain needs to finally go away for the summer here shortly. Otherwise a lot of the summer crops are going to get trashed. The cherry crop was a disaster with all the rain. LIke 80% went to juice. Normally it's about 15% I guess. eek. Funny to go over the rivers and for them to actually have water in them!

Yes we did get the He-Man thing goin. Ya know Masters of the Universe was a good Wholesom Cartoon. Not like what these kids watch today. At the end of every episode there was a solid moral message. and it wasnt wear purple dance around like a flaming buttpirate and carry a man purse. WTF. Were have all the real men gone. seems like society is racing Fem-men not He-men anymore. TV just sucks and it raises the childrens. Sad Sad Society. Im sure you tell yoru kids to get the F^%$ out the house in Utah Hoss. and well all the good marshall has is girls. and confuscious is doin his dambdest to raise a man. but most folks in this sick world dont give 2 chits about they kids. they are a burden. poor childrens. anyway PSD's rule the roads. no doubt about it. but to each their own. if some people didnt like the other Piles of chit they wouldnt make em right always a die hard chevy fan. kinda like honda guys.

You are correct about never getting a chance to try and compare the trucks the way you want to use themCan only go by what guys sayor worsemanufactorers numbers. I've pulled my fair share of weight with my truckand it does a great job doing it

Oh, and just to steal Karyn's thunder, she pulled the eff two fiddy like 200 yards. But we left on our own power. That was a long drive home, well it took a while it seems. Though I was passed out for about the last hour, or so. The beautiful hum of the 7.3 PSD lulled me to sleep. And the heated seat was nice on the back after a day of riding. Hopefully LJ makes it up the hill without crashing. LOL.

Good morning FBK. I went riding yesterday straight from my house (with a detour to the gas station). It&39;s kind of nice to leave the driveway on the 700. I have trails just a few blocks from the house. We rode for 4 hours and could have ridden for days and days. There are tons of trails and dirt roads (left from gas companies, power line roads, old coal mining companies, etc).
However, some of the trails we went on yesterday ended up being washed out (from all of the runoff that we have had). Some areas of the trail were pretty hairy. I had butt pucker-factor 9 on one of the hills. It&39;s kind of scary when you&39;re heading down a hill and your back end wants to pass you up.

thats cuz you ride a polaris you sissy... Ride the throttle a lil bit and use the brake your ass end dont pass you But i know the bunghole pucker feelin. I launched off the side of a road (on purpose) dropped about 40' onto the hillside and was on my front wheels for a long time before the back finally met dirt. I thought for sure I was endoing I also know the nice to go ride from the house. I roll outta the garage and im on the trails. and if i ride a bit im into our large state forrest that borders the property. Lots of riding.

Morning guys. Hoss...front brakes. That @ss end won't slide around on you. Really. I'm serious. I know when I'm riding Miami up by LJ's house, it's front brake time, unless I want to slide. Hard pack with a light coat of sand....
Hey LJ...get the paddles off yet?
Posted by: Whitewater
The sportsman's only have all wheel braking (just like a truck), or back brake only (foot pedal). It's touch and go with the engine braking system, and feathering with the hand brake. I was on the backbone of hill (cliff on one side, and gully on the other). It's funny how going up is always easier than coming down (just like hiking and climbing).
Posted by: confusedbuyer
that sounds serious Hoss. i prolly woulda jammed out or started crying. did you take your wife and kids down the same place, on those significantly heavy and oversized machines that could squish them like a bug?
i sure envy being able to ride straight out of the driveway.
we spent fri & sat golfing with my dad in atrociously rainy weather. then when we drove home sunday, in perfecetly sunny weather.
Posted by: Whitewater
The fam stayed on top of the ridge, while I went down to investigate. I started to walk down and then said screw this, I'm riding down. They had to wait 30 minutes or so in the hot sun (cuz that's the kind of guy I am).
Wifey didn't want to walk or drive down so we ended up turning around (and of course, I'm too lazy to hike up the hill for each ATV).
Rain? What's that? I live in the 2nd driest state in the union. Actually, we have had quite a bit of moisture, lately. I'm ready for summer.
Oh, I'm going camping on Wedneday - Monday.

It was all the donuts and chasing women down we did in it. I think the license plate kinda made them a little insecure though.... Nice thing about that small V8...it can get some air!

PSD question:
My overdrive button was flashing a couple days ago. I don't have a tranny temp gauge, and I read somewhere that it was an indication of an overheated tranny. It happened a couple years ago, when I was hauling my 5th wheel. However, I was empty on the last experience.
Any advice?
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
Yup. That's the tranny temp idiot light. It's the "BTW, you're tranny fluid is toast. Stop, let her cool down and go to the nearest garage for a flush" light.
My '04 F-150 actually says TRANS TEMP in the LCD display (Odometer/Trip, DOOR AJAR & FUEL CAP warning).
Posted by: Whitewater
Yeah, I'm going to take it in right now for a flush.
BTW, what's up with the forum? Technical difficulties?

On their second ride, Friend Rick tried to go down the back side of a dune sidewaysWell, he ended up flipping the wifes 400 pound PolarisTurned out, the handle bars hit him in the "groin" and ruptured his urethra [sp] then, he landed on his right shoulder, snapping it in two placesAfter a trip to the local hospitalthey dismissed him a few hours laterLuckily, they didn't need to do surgery. They contemplated it for a couple of hoursortunately, the urologist was good enough to put a catheter inimg src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0"> Got off the beach at high tide

you read that here, on this forum, a hundred pages ago when i posted it here. ya, flush and filter change would take care of it. altho, if you were empty last time, you might wanna take it to dealer and have them read the error code. OR, if you have a chip, disconnect it and see if it comes back.

ya, back on the psd topic, i had some wierd problems today. I stalled a few times, on a steep hill. I'd get it to re-start, it'd move 10 feet, and just die. so i pulled the chip, and it kept acting the same way. managed to limp home by re-starting and moving ahead in 10 foot increments.
so then i go out again (still no chip). it starts to sputter and is puking out blue/grey smoke big time. i can hammer the gas pedal, and it has zero affect, just keeps chugging along, coughing out heavy smoke. so, any thoughts on what this problem might be?

Sounds like the fuel problem. I know this is probably a stupid question(s) but, you've changed the fuel filter recently? drained the water separater? Sounds like the fuel modular is going out.
Maybe Creator will step inand offer his wisdom

My '88 Ford F150 4X4 just turned 100,000 miles on the last trip home from miami trails. Is it OK to mention a non diesel Ford in here? I wish I could help out on the diesel problems but its not my deal (yet). It does sound fuel related though.

Welp, I got the In-Dash Nav installed yesterday in the efftufeddy.
This thing is pretty sweet. It gives voice commands and all that good stuff. The DVD quality is great.
Its a little difficult to find what all the functions are but im learning.
The hard part is gonna be to teach the parents. BR>
For future reference the wires one needs to find in the truck are:
The Speed Sensor wire: Behind the glove box the Cruise Control box sits up under the dash on the right side. Theres a large(r) group of wires pluged in. The wire is the small grey one with a black stripe.
Reverse Gear/Light wire: I found it on the passenger side under the door sill in a REALLY HUGE bundle of wires. Its a small black wire with a pink stripe.
Parking Brake sensor: I just grounded this wire. Much easyer.
Should be getting the XM reviever next week so everything will work togather.

Flushing the system is a good thing to do since it replaces the fluid stuck in the lines, trans coolers, and torque convertor but you still have to drop the pan and replace the trans filter! It's very important or else it can still have a hard time sucking fliud through and burn up the trans.

If I had to guess I would say injector pump problems.
How does it restart? Does just fire right back up and idle correctly? Does it take a lot of cranking to start? Does it spudder when idling?
Diesels don't (or gas engines either) like cracked fuel lines. It lets air into the system and will cause stalling, hard restarts after sitting, and spuddering. Check the lines and replace the filter and see what happens next. Let me know what you find out

'04 and '05 6.0's have a recall out for the Injector control module and wire hanness issues. I guess the harness is rubbing through and causing wiring problems. try pulling on the wire harness that connects to the injector module and see if it starts to run correctly. Check with your local Blue oval dealer about this problem also

hey OFC, nuthin wrong with drinkin large quantities of beer. too bad it had to be Buttwiper. you can take the daughter, but then you MUST buy the farm, not just the cow. and NO milk for free.
i was gonna originally post my psd problem as, "creator, can you help me cuz none of these other guys will have a clue"...., but i thought that'd be rude so i didn't!img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> anyways, mine is a '99. just turned 100,000 (kilometres= 62,000 miles). re-starting conditions varied. mostly it'd start right away. if it cranked more than 5-6 times, i shut it off, turned it back on, then it'd start. It'd idle normal, then accelerate normal, move ahead 10 feet, cut out completely, and die. over the past 4 months, there's been about 3-4 similar occasions where it's just cut out. but on all of those, once it re-started, it ran perfectly normal. and the check engine symbol came on too.
the smoking problem came later, after i'd been home and went out again. in that case, it just chugged erratically (almost like a cold start chug, where the glow plugs haven't had enough time to heat things up). so it chugs, the acc. pedal made no difference, and it's pouring out this awful smoke. it was jerky. this continued for about 1/4 mile until i reached my destination and left it shut off for about 6 hours. then it drove home fine.
I replaced the fuel filter in March, maybe 2-3000 miles ago. It should be fine. Mine is a 1999, 7.3L. your theory on electrical seems possible.an occasional rub or exposed wire causing an intermittent problem. i may get ford to read my error code.

For us, it's called a Wet/Dry reckless. With different categories. Here's a attorney's spin on it-
wet reckless/DUI
Posted by: OneFlyCowboy
BLABLABLABLA But would you think in the eyes of canadian authorities that a neg1 is = to DUI? or a DUI amended to neg 1 is = to DUI?

The way i understand it is a Negligent Driving First Degree is a misdomeaner
and DUI is a gross misdomeaner. whatever the difference is.

Now your throwing in another Countryand we all know, in the Great North they get a little "confused"My take on it is, if you are found Guilty or Plead Guilty/No Contest to a Reckless of any kind, then, that is what it is. They shouldn't be able to say, that because it stemmed from a DUI, that it is a DUI. For some reason, the courts/da settled it down to a lesser crime. Sorta like being charged with a Assault with a deadly weapon, but having it dropped to a simple assault. It should be what the final disposition of the case is. PERIOD......
Posted by: rescuediver
Now, I take it-
1. Someone has a prior and wants to drive in Canada
or
2. They are worried about getting caught DUIin Canadaand that the Canadian authorities will be able to use a reckless as a prior.
Now curiosity is kickingin and Inquiring mindswant to knowBR>
If #1 is the case, if the driver's license is suspended/revoked or has limitaions on itthen, I would see how Canadian Law accepts those limitaitons. Because, if you plan on driving up north on the premises that your license from the U.S. is valid up there. They might have something to say about it. Confused probably knows a little bit about Canadian Lawnd how it would apply to U.S. driver's licenses.

Just tell them that you are going up there to hug a couple of trees and bash the USA and they'll gladly let you in

you wonder? you should know. some memory ya'll have Yes i have a prior F@ck up.. wild night chasing cats all around town bar to bar and leaving the last bar headed for the border (taco bell) i got pulled over on a BS charge. and i got lippy with my friend the officer and told him what i thought of him. and thus that didnt look well anyway i got arrested and spent 8 months in court and ended up at a neglegent driving in the first, wich was better than the other stuff ya know typically i am super respectfull but he was a dick and pissed me off.. and i had been drinkin so i didnt care that he was an officer of the law i felt he needed to know he was a dick. LOL. in retrospect im kinda suprised i didnt get beat up the thing is i just hate gettin accused of chit i couldnt do if i wanted to. for instance on warm asphalt spinning my tires for "Several" seceonds as he stated. and fishtailing. BULLCHIPS BUDDY i had my windows down and i have driven enough chit to know if my tires are spinning. after court I had the best rebuttel to that guys report. "Yes your honor my tires were spinning for several seconds... infact all the way to the point in wich my vehicle was parked... However they did not break traction with the road thus the officer had no cause to stop me and begin his reckless claims"...

AH Yes, now I rememberYou were the one I read about in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals RulingsJ/K You know, I might of said this before, Everyone sees things differently, especially when they are drinking. If you are innocent, why did you settle for the charges that it ended in? Why didn't you fight it to the day you are found "NOT GUILTY"? That is the way the system is set up.

yeah i understand the theory of drinking.. I dont deny i was drinking. I was. however he had not just casue to pull me over and he was a purguring corksucker. and that pissed me off. and in situations like that its all hearsay. and i dindt feel like hiring a proffesional driver and having him attempt to enter the highway the way the police officer stated. The local enforcement agents around these parts are on a hardcore DUI crusade. and basically you being at a tavern is just cause for them to pull you over. totally crap.

so then i go out again (still no chip). it starts to sputter and is puking out blue/grey smoke big time. i can hammer the gas pedal, and it has zero affect, just keeps chugging along, coughing out heavy smoke. so, any thoughts on what this problem might be?
If I had to guess I would say injector pump problems.
How does it restart? Does just fire right back up and idle correctly? Does it take a lot of cranking to start? Does it spudder when idling?
Diesels don't (or gas engines either) like cracked fuel lines. It lets air into the system and will cause stalling, hard restarts after sitting, and spuddering. Check the lines and replace the filter and see what happens next. Let me know what you find out
I would also check the CPS (Cam Position Sensor) They have been known to go out and cuase this type of driveablity problems. It's about a 15 min fix and about $120.00

It helps take the quick, jerking motions out of steeringAt low speeds it does making turning a little more difficultBut, by the way I witnessed your ridingIt wouldn't matterIt really saves my shouldersand I'm not "as" tired after ridingI would think after you and B&RW described MiamiIt might help greatly on the trails up thereBR>

Told you...next time...park INTO the wind (seaward). Or leave the turkey open. Not like anyone left the camp anyways. Have you tried the air compressor to blow it out? Or it might block it more INTO the cover. Bet the track is packed up with sand.

My boss as a manual Roll-N-Lok on his Lightning. Pretty much the same thing. I'd worry it too would get jamed up. I'd stick with the shell you have. Esp. if you get a trailer (err toy hauler...since you already have a TT, IIRC)...better aerodynamics.

yeah its all water under the bridge.. One of my friends gota DUI on monday for a 0.088 and the police officer was setting across the street and followed her when she left... They do that crap up here all the time. When my uncle got his.. same thing cop sitting across the road and made up some chit to pull him over. I have the utmost respect for em but it pisses me off on the drinkin chit that they just pull ya over and make up some reason why they did that aint what happend.. since they have a good probability ya been drinkin so since the DUI enforcement is such a big gig round these parts they get away with BS.. heck there is an officer locally that is under investigation for just recycling reports. multiple people getting tried on the exact same report. thats like mine i think i have a copy of it around here somewhere i should scan it and send it to you. Its like the best freakin report to hang a guy. and its a bunch of crap. there is some serious pressure on the officers for DUI conviction so i can see why they do it but its still wrong.
Posted by: rescuediver
That report would be interesting to read. MADD around here is real active. However, the liberals and ACLU really keep a tight watch on how the laws are applied.
Posted by: OneFlyCowboy
I swear allotta laws are pointless. they just FOck over good people and the ones who its ment to stop... it dont.
Funny chit on my drive back home tonight. This Essay (mexi Gang Banger) was in his imalla with like 20" white wall tires on 12" Spoke wheels with hydros was all flippin switchs on the big road, he was riding wheelies Goin like 80mph along side me with his front tires higher than my hood Yeah i was hopin he would crash into me

geez, sure hope yer wrong about injectors! I'm thinking electrical due to the intermittency of the problem.

Yea, we have the exact type of scrotes around hereThey definately know how to ruin a car. Thing with those cars are, when you really want to throw the book at themit's really easyThere's like 30 laws covering that stuff. From having to small of a wheel, hydralic suspension, to not having your batteries in a vented area. Best hing about it is, it's a hazard and has to be removed from the roadway immediatelywhich ='s tow truck.

I agree with you on it being electrical. If it was the injectorsyou would think it would do it all the time

aw man, it's just too hard to quote these replies, one by one. so let's try this:
1) Creator, ..."tell them you're huggin trees and bashing Americans"... ROTFLMFAO!! that's hilarious. actually, they should arrive at the guard booth smokin a BFO (big-fat-one) of BC bud, wearing those incredibly stupid Arastafarian/Jamacian tam-hats (or touques, or whatever they are...you know, the one you like to wear when you listen to your rap on boom box). then, all hold hands and sing, "koom-by-ah" . yep, that's what we're all about here.
2) I think we replaced the cam position sensor under warranty, ages ago, because my Kiwi-diesel mechanic pal (now deceased) knew a lot of those were failing, so we were ahead of the game. do these wear out?
3) OFC, are you mad?? bringing food into OUR country? It's a childish pi$$ing contest right now. When we go to America, we don't bring squat for food. they threw out our freakin dry kibble dog food last time, and took away a can of Chunky-beef stew. Even citrus fruits that come from the US, they won't let us bring across (not a lot of citrus growing weather here in the frozen tundra). It's so political, but part of it is the 2 mad cows that still sees us under a beef ban to the US. then we had a chicken flu, so no eggs, etc.. Re-read my point #1 to creator... they'd be more apt to welcome drugs and firearms than foreign food.
4)MD/ofc, i think they run a CPIC at the computer the moment you show your ID. they wanna know who's coming in. they do the same when we go to USA.

so then i go out again (still no chip). it starts to sputter and is puking out blue/grey smoke big time. i can hammer the gas pedal, and it has zero affect, just keeps chugging along, coughing out heavy smoke. so, any thoughts on what this problem might be?
If I had to guess I would say injector pump problems.
How does it restart? Does just fire right back up and idle correctly? Does it take a lot of cranking to start? Does it spudder when idling?
Diesels don't (or gas engines either) like cracked fuel lines. It lets air into the system and will cause stalling, hard restarts after sitting, and spuddering. Check the lines and replace the filter and see what happens next. Let me know what you find out
I would also check the CPS (Cam Position Sensor) They have been known to go out and cuase this type of driveablity problems. It's about a 15 min fix and about $120.00
maybe in US $$, but up here, they'll be able to turn it into $300.

Buy one on line-might save some bucks. The IH one is listed as being a little cheaper tooBR>
Like PS typed earlier- does the tach needle bounce when starting? It gets it's signal from the CPS and if it's not working it won't move in most cases. Check this first. Good luck!!

Im a sand n00b. I think that even had we left it open it still would have gotten sand in there.
Im gonna try and mess with it tomorow and see if i cant get it to work.
And how much air do we run in the trucks on the sand? That's right...30psi. And that's without a heavy trailer. Heavy trailer we drop to 20psi. And run low range. Speed limit is 15MPH anyways. At least the trailer seemed to be floating nicely. Of course it was only weighing like hmm 1100lbs?

I'd go with the TAG over the 5th. Besides...I'm a weight Nazi. That way you can still put stuff in the bed of the truck. Wood, extra quad, fuel, whatever you need. With the 5er, that's taken up by the hitch. Not sure I'd want stuff bouncing around my hitch in the bed while towing.

Maybe that's why you are getting stuck. I run 12-15 in my burb AND trailer while going up the hill into the dunes at Gordon's . We don't park in the dust bowl like everyone else but get back into the dunes about 4-5 miles to set up camp. All by yourself baby!BR>
If you don't air down that much you will get stuck quickly out there

The big ticket is to get that trailer floating on the sandHave you ever watch someone struggling moving their trailer on the sand? They more often then nothaven't aired down the trailer tiresthen it's just one big sled pushing loads of sand in front of the wheelsBR>

There's a big difference between the two4lo is a life saverBad jewjewlo puts a lot of your torque to the groundKey is to keep the wheel from spinning.

I've heard or read that somewhere beforeabout the weight NaziBR>
Yes, those are the same points I keep thinking about, when I try to rationalize between the two. I just like the roomyness in a 5ver over a pullPlus all that weight over a ball and shaft just doesn't register right with meBR>

LJ got stuck up at 45 frnt/40 rear. Told him LOWER...but NO! So HE had to get pulled by a 6.0L GMC gasser.
Most of the people I know who tow onto the sand at Pismo (though it's a bit more packed and not as soft) run about 20psi (Karyn, mstrquad, Suzie & MD can elaborate more on what they run as I'm in a different situation.)
I've been running 12 front / 10 rear at Pismo in my trucks. 2WD though. That was fine in the Sonoma, but I'm thinking it's a bit low for the F-150. Taller sidewall, but still a P-rated tire. I think the sidewall is too soft for that. Maybe after we switch to LTs I can go back that low. Next time I'm thinking I'm going to run 15-20. The truck just felt like it was moving around on the sidewalls. The tracks were straight but the truck was twisting.
Drive 4-5 miles through the dunes at Pismo and you'll be out of the area. LOL. Beach is ummm let's see... 3-4 miles long (actually add a mile if you come in at Grand, instead of Pier.)

The idea is to keep the tires from spinning. You're going to get more torque down, but it's the spinning that you're avoiding. Allows you to slowly spool up the motor. Get 'er moving then you can get into the power progressively to gain more speed.
Remember what happened when we got stuck...I said throw it in low and the truck moved forward (although not THAT far, but it still did.) 4Hi was just spinning. I know Karyn runs around in 4Lo on the beach. Of course those MTs help out a huge amount.

Very few people air down the trailer as well. They think it will cause it to be worse. It increases rolling resistance do to a large contact patch, but that is what you want...large contact patch means a lower weight per given square inch of tire and sand. The sand, depending on conditions, can carry X psi before it gives way. The idea is to have less psi on the contact patch than the sands psi carrying ability.
Though I've actually seen someone pulling in a trailer with a bead off on the trailer because they went too low.

When I just go on the beach for the day pulling my 16 ft trailer. I don't touch the air in my tiresI just put it in 4lo to get where I'm goingHowever, if I'm fully loaded, camp trailer with quads in the bed. I will go down to around 20 lbs maybe 15 if the sand is really loose. Don't want to go to low, you run the risk of driving of the wheelsNot a good thing. My friend who has a 37 foot WW lowers his tires to 15 lbs religiosly. He very rarely needs help getting outJust go 4lo and slowNo spin tires, when youdo thatyou just bury the truck to the frameAnd then, only way to move again is to get pulled outAnd the last thing youwant to see is a GMC gasser pulling your PSDEspecially when they post about it on the internet

Ok...here's the plan...you need to win the Lotto (or Mega Millions as that actually starts tonight). Anyways... you tell the wife she gets that nice new 40' 5er TH (or bigger if you can swing it on length...I think they count them like the big rigs and you can go to 53' with no more than 40' king pin to rear axle) but you have to get the truck to go with it. See if you can find an MDT with a nice CAT, Benz or Cummins with 4WD.
Oc course then you'll also be able to get your hopped up golf cart for the dunes too. Get a custom built stacker trailer. BR>
And your daughter can get your 250 since she wants that. She just isn't allowed to drive south of hmmm Merced works, maybe 152...if we get a warning. LOL.

See above post15 lbs would be around my max as far as how low I would go. Then, I wouldn't turn to abrubtly, might just peel that tire right off the beadBR>

I boycott the Lotto. I do not believe in it. It was a farcehey just added the schools to it, just so they could get it to pass by the law makersHowever, my family tells me "IF" I ever buy a ticketI'm sure to be the winner.

Just hasn't opened up for the season. Usually open Memorial Weekend. Lot's of snow earlier, then they had to clear the trees that go down every year.

i have the roll cover and it's great. i like the roll and stack aswell, as it's a hard shell, and more water proof. with these 2, you rarely ever have to revove them when moving anything higher than the box rail, like a COUCH! you could definitely leave it on when you haul a 5th wheel. The tonneau covers are a pain, and impractical.

up here you'd have a super tough time getting a conviction on .088 (our legal limit is .08). actually, the prosecutor (same as your DA) prolly wouldn't waste his time on it and it'd never see the light of a courtroom.
