hey, i warned you guys before, Festus will mount anything that moves. That's why the fish stop swimming when he comes to my house. And also why he's got that nasty habit of dry-humping people's legs.

Went to a RV show in Pleasanton Yesterday. I have to say it was very nice. Everything was under a big tentEven though the weather was nicesunny and about 60 degreesAnyways, they had a ton of toy trailers there. After walking into almost all of them, I came away with wanting the new Weekend Warrior LE model. Here's a link to it weekend warrior LE model
Wife told me to start saving my penniesIt had the Billet edition interior, which was pretty sharp. tongue weight was manageable tooWe did discover that the dealers were basically asking $1000 per foot of trailer at the show. Some had knocked over $15,000 from there priceAnyways, there's always room for negotiationswhich I hate doingBR>
Anyways, I'll be drooling for awhile

Skinner, I should start on the clutch tomorrow and hopefully have the z400 running for Saturday. My parts from Rocky Mountain arrived todayonly took 3 daysAnyways, I need to go and some 10w40 for the quad. I am even thinking about going with some synthetic stuff, just to check it outAnyone know if there is anything I need to do, just in case I go with the synthetic and decide to go back to regular 10w40? (other then draining the oil and pouring the regular stuff in)
Posted by: confusedbuyer
nope, you got it MD... just drain the oil and put in the synthetic. I see no prob with using it. you may find it causes idle to change, no big deal.
well, we had snow and cold for 2-3 weeks.then suddenly another pineapple express storm melts all of it, warms it up to about 45-50 degrees and pounds rain. combine it with melted snow and it's a mess with flooding. good thing we only ever got a few inches (go ahead, you guys can jump all over that comment, that's why i left it there for ya).
i drained the water and changed the oil on my compressor tonight. i saw sumthin that sed to check air-filter on top. i pull apart the top and the filter foam is almost disintigrated. i cut up some old atv filter foam, should work. wondering if the head bolts i had to remove are set right, or if the gasket i broke (NOT HEAD gasket) will leak. guess we'll find out. I'm sure the underpowered circuit/tripped breaker will be the first thing to kill the compressor anyways.

I took my truck in for service and my friend jumped all over me "getting serviced" on SMS messaging. I was sitting in the service manager's office LMAO. I think he thought I was insane. But hey, he rides. And someone was having serious issues with a 7.3 PSD..... well I'm off to lunch.

Man alive. its been rainin at my buddies place and in the hills above. the river that runs next to his house has rose from 1,000 cfs to 36,000 cfs in the past 24 hours and it went from about 4 feet on the gauge to 17.2' basically the river is still goin up and its at his house now. they are almost 4feet over flood stage and its startin to slow down but another mega squall is commin thru and gonna melt a ton more snow and river gonna get much bigger.

NO, Have all the partsBut, went to a fellow officer's funeral todayHe was gunned down by a AWOL marine, who was in the Norteno's and ambushed 2 local officers. One is still in serious condition and the other a Sgt. was executed. Shot twice in the head after being shot pulling up to the scene. Both were shot with a SKS that he converted to a automatic. There was over 4,000 officers theresome from as far away as Boise, Idaho, Reno, Nv., Nevada State Police, and down southGreat show of forceTo bad it takes a tragedy to get us all together

I can't believe his family wants him buried with full military honors. The Marine Corps I believe is refusing to do it. Family claims PTSD but he never saw combat. Never fired his weapon. He's just a piece of garbage. They should be burying him in the landfill.
MD...not sure if you heard but Tulare had two officers gunned down as well. One is at the hospital here in Fresno, the other is up at Standford. Both are very critical. Both shot with a shotgun during a traffic stop. Two brothers. Second officer got off at least one round and hit one of em. Both taken into custody. Hopefully you won't be having to travel down this way for another funeral.

Reminds me of when Pelco dedicated the California Memorial for 9/11. Got some great pics. If you're ever up this way I'll have to show you where it is. I want to say the flag is 60'x40' or so. Been up since they raised it in Dec '01. Lit by like 4 1000W metal halide lights...you can see it at night from the other side of the airport...+/- 1 mile.

The POS got nothingThe Marines denied his military burialKind of hard to deny his gang affiliation with the photos they found. He was buried last Thursday in front of 600 other POSAnd can you believe, the cemetary gave him a plot next to the Peace Officers Memoriale couldn't believe it when we saw it on the news. The took the shot of the services from "OUR" MonumentBR>
We were talking about the shootings today. We heard they were also gang relatedOur prayers are out to them and their love ones
Posted by: confusedbuyer
it's an insult to Marines to call this guy a marine. and i know nothing about it, other than what you guys posted.
it's so rare here for police to even draw their weapon, let alone die in the line of duty. all our recent shootings have been gang members doing each other. i thot in CA during a traffic stop, it's assumed the person has a gun and you never put yourself in that vulnerable of a position. what do i know. still a tragedy to see such a lack of respect for law enforcement (or any innocent person's life for that matter), anywhere.

I agree 100% with you. He is a "COWARD" who the media decided to useas another sick weaponin their own agenda to attack Pres BushBR>
As a Law Enforcement Officer, you approach every vehicle like that. But, unfortuanately, if you approached every car with your weapon drawn, the public out cry would be horrendous[sp] Because, even law abiding citizens get stoppedoo. Even though you are aware it could happen, "WE" are always one second behind in drawing our weaponhe POS of society already made up their mind, on what they will do. Details on the shooting from down south are sketchy, so I won't comment on it. But, ours was an all out ambush. POS fires a round into the ground outside a store, runs inside, tells the clerk to call police, he was just shot at. So, now he's pretending to be a victim. When first officers arrive onscene, they do everything rightPlacement of vehicle, coverage, etc. When POS sees they arrived and looking around corner, he goes after them, flips his military poncho aside and pulls out his SKS, firing it in automatic. He or someone else, converted it. Officer gets hit several times and is pulled back by his trainee and another officer. Sgt. pulls up second later from another direction, POS hides behind a car, and then opens up on Sgt. as he is still getting out of his car. While laying on ground wounded, POS shoots him twice in the headThen he terrorizes neighborhood for 3 hours until he engages a fire fight with fellow officers and is killed. The 2 officers shot, did return fire, but didn't hit there markBR>
Around here, it's not uncommon to pull our weapons multiple times during your shift. that can be for searches, felony car stops, robbery calls, etc. Then you can go for shifts without pulling itYou just never know
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
As MD said, it's still sketchy. They are waiting to talk to both officers before they release who was the shooter. This is from Tues. morning's Fresno Bee (article Registration required)

According to Tulare police, Jackson and Jones were on patrol about 3:05 a.m. when they stopped a maroon Nissan 300Z in the 2100 block of South Laspina Street, near the southeastern fringe of the city. The Barbosas were in the car, which was registered to Jesse Barbosa, although it wasn't clear who was driving or which brother fired the shotgun, police said.
Tulare police spokesman Lt. Jerry Breckinridge said Jackson walked toward the car on the driver's side and was hit by a shotgun blast as she approached the door.
Jones called on his radio that an officer was down and approached the Nissan. Breckinridge said what happened next wasn't clear, but that Jones shot one of the Barbosas and was shot himself.
Both were to be arraigned this morning on 2 counts ea. of attempted murder. Jesse Barbosa was the one who took a round and 3 hours later a few bites while hiding in the oleanders along Highway 99. Both held on $500,000 bail.

Oh, and the weather difference is called "inversion." Webster: An atmospheric condition in which the air temperature rises with increasing altitude, holding surface air down and preventing dispersion of pollutants. I am at 6500 ft. and Salt Lake is at 4000-4500 ft. (it's warmer where I am at than Salt Lake City).

MD , i think it's time you and i wheeled and dealed on this Suzuki Factory Manual I have for the LT160!! Yep, I sold the 160 today.... $1360 US for a '94. I think the guy got a pretty good deal, but it was a little rough. I looked at Repairmanuals.com and they show the manual to be for all models from 1989-2004. And this is Factory, NOT one of those Clymers (which are okay, but no where near as specific or good). so PM me, and we'll see what we can do. repairmanuals wants $55 US plus shipping. I'll be much gentler than that.

Staying on the original topic as we always do here in the FBK forumI was talking to a salesman/owner for a cargo trailer. Overheard a conversation with a Ford dealer about an issue with his F350 DW 4X4 when braking. He has a radical shaking when braking when towing his 5th wheel trailer. The trailer is 7500 and he figures he has 1800 on the bed mounted hitch which is not much for this truck. he has been having this problem since new (4 years) and the dealer has seen this truck shake like he states but has not come up with a solution to date. They last told him today to try airbags to change the driveline angle when braking BR>
I think it is a waste of his money and time and feel that Ford should step up and try to repair this problem. the owner states that he has found many owners that have the same problem when towing.
Anyone have this issue and have fixed it?
Posted by: confusedbuyer
creator, do you mind not stayin on topic. The TV ads for the new F350s seem to show it has some kinda built in electronic brake controller that senses the load/weight/conditions, and automatically adjusts ( the one where the guys pulling a big, enclosed trailer on a mountain hwy in the rain, and comes up to a flagman unexpectedly). well, i don't always embrace technology... just like when ABS first came out, it was wierd getting used to the feeling of your brake pedal pounding against your foot while the ABS does the auto-pump thing. anywho, just wonder if it doesn't have something to do with this wonderful technology, or maybe the angle of his 5th wheel???
I agree, this should be looked after by Ford, without the slightest threat from the guy. they should be bending over to accomodate him and fix it, he shouldn't have to scream and whine. Hey, what about those lemon laws that let you give it back for full refund or exchange after so many problems??? Isn't that an option?
AND...we have no such laws in Canada, cuz we're not that socialist!!you pinkos!

He has been very level headed and we discussed the lemon law. That's where I would go with this one. How about Ford swapping it out fer a new one? Can't fix it? Then give me one that can baby!

I love that kind of stuff. Just you and the terrain and lady luckI think someone should come up with a mini-Dakar here in the states. It would be well attended and probably make some good coin at the same time.

Creator, When I tow my trailer, my rig starts pulling to the rightord has replaced the rotors and brake padI don't get the shakesThank God but, I think Ford does have a problem with thier front brakes. One of the things I heard, from a mechanic that "specializes" at his own brakes shop. is Ford put out a letter to it's service centers, Telling them to hand torque the lug nuts on the trucks and not use an impact wrench. Apparently, the impact doesn't tighten the lugs evenly, and when they are under heavy brakinghey heat up and start distorting. So, I suggest, have your friend have Ford replace or turn the rotors, put new pads on and torque the wheels down by hand. Then, see if that helps. I'm getting ready to have the dealer here do thatMy warranty is up in 14,000 miles and I want new brakesat Ford's expense

brakes are a wear and tear item, how do ya figure they'll do that under warranty?
I have high performance rotors all round. they are specific to each wheel. I had a worn inner-pad slip thru the caliper mounting bracket on one of them , and chewed it up in a matter of miles. I then put the factory one back on that rear wheel.
I don't believe what they said about the impact gun MD, cuz they use torque sticks to tighten them. they are a certain thickness of steel that will only tighten to a specified torque, and then the stick flexs and won't tighten anymore. they're color coded for pre-set tourque, like orange is 100ft. lbs,, yellow is 80, etc... some of them are also for specific wheel nut sizes. anyways, you can have you air set at 300lbs+++, but the stick will torque before over tightening. ALTHO, some mechanics may not have the sticks in their tool box, but the shop always has them.. but the mechanics get lazy and don't wanna hunt them down, so they just tighten with impact gun , and by feel/experience.
i did PM ya. sorry for the indiscretion.

All I can tell you is "They coevered them under warranty" Already had them replaced once already under my extended warrantyWhen I have to pay for my own brakesI too, will go with performance rotors all the way around.
On the impact wrench, all I can do is relay what I've been toldI haven't seen the letter myselfand it did come from a Private shop, who might have his own motive for saying itHowever, my friend has a '04 F150, that's been shaking up frontlike Creator's friendFord couldn't fix it, after 3 trips to the shophe took it to this mechanic, he turned the rotors, hand tightened the lugs and so, far, it's held upSo, there is some validity to what he has said

Yeah, My brother in law and I are going to do the WORCS series this year and the first one is in Peonix. The drive there and back will suck though, as it is 12 hours to get there. We are leaving at 4am friday morning. It should be fun though.
Hey, the post before this was my 100th, sweeeet!
Posted by: confusedbuyer
yeah, maybe they meant don't tighten by feel or experience, either use a torq stick or torq wrench. I know on my F350, i was sent a replacement set of papers for changing a flat tire, with a different (higher) torq rating for the lug nuts. And it may be in between values of the torq stix (like 135ft lbs., and the stix are 130 & 140), which would require a torq wrench.
my front end was vibrating bad on braking. pretty sure the mechanic had turned my front rotors, IIRC, with the portable lathe that turns them while still on the veh. It didn't change until i put the performance ones on. they are EXPENSIVE tho, $100 EACH. the rears are a bigger pain to do cuz ya need a specialty socket and ya gotta pull the axles. plus ya have to remove the old rotor from the hub which is a real "bigger hammer" job.
well, glad to hear your dealer replaces brakes under warranty. no wonder the dealership where my dad works gets all their warranty claims rejected by Ford... no $$ left after paying for all the brake jobs in CA!! .

Here you go 7' wide trailer The construction looked good and they use 3/8 inch plywood to line the inside. Cost was around $4,000 depending on what it hasI think it had a 7k GVW or maybe 10k'm confused nowwe looked at so manyhr>
Finally took all the quads out and measured the space I have and found out I need a 6' wide trailer without wheel wells on the outside. If I want to be able to pass by this thing next to the house it has to be that skinny

Used to race about every weekend. Trials evenys were held on the first and third Sundays so that what i did on those weekends and the others I would do alot of Gran Prix's. Mostly 100 miles races. Either straight 100 miles or a track that used 3-10 loops to equal 100 miles or so.
The reason why I liked that stuff is it's mainly just you and the bike versus everyone. I did some moto X but it seemed like who ever had the best, latest, greatest pipe or shock set up won.BR>
Trials has changed a bunch lately and I think it has hurt the sport even more than ever since you need balls of steel to ride the traps they set up. Boulder jumping and wall climbing is not something that most people can or want to do.

MD barely made it out in time to hook meet the group. We were packing it up when he showed up. Interesting to say the least. Got some really good video with the new digital video camera. Night vision and 120KV high-tension lines in fog...that was interesting.
The new tires were awesome out there. It was foggy ALL weekend. We went up on top of a peak in the park and got a little sun on Friday when I showed up, but that was it. 100' visibility in wet fog on a quad is a bit hair raising.

I do not own one personally but my best friend does. His is a 2002 and he lives in Yuma, Az. He pulls a 32 foot 5th wheel up to Camplands by the Sea (near Mission Beach) I am sure you know where I am talking about! lol He said he only used 10 gallons of gas and he drove 45 mph on the steepest of hills.
I would also like to mention that he is very impressed with Ford's new 6.0 L...more Hp and torque and a bit peppier. At any rate...quality is there. Hope this helps and please ask any questions that you may have!

He didn't ride. He just came out to meet me and the crew. The only site people left that anyone here knows is mstrquad and myself. A couple other lurkers come around but never post that are part of the group.

This guy has already been the rotors/caliber/pad route without helping the situation. the shaking is in the rear-not the frontsBR>

well i guess not, they didn't have pre-set torq sticks back in those days!i remember having to jump up and down on some tire irons way back when thanks to ITUBI (impact tools used by idiots).
yep sounds like a hanging caliper/seized piston from what yer describing MD. altho, the slides should be cleaned & lubricated when you do a brake job, and some mechanics will just rush thru and replace pads/turn rotor, that's it.
well that's great that skinner and MD got to put faces to the names. I've been reluctant to meet cuz I don't wanna be responsible for breaking up anyones marraige. (hey, American chicks dig fat outta shape Canadian guys.. what can i say). just ask Festus.... wait a minute, that was a knock-out Canadian girl from the CNIB (Canadian Natl Institute for the Blind) who somehow... mistakenly ended up with him. altho, she was eleven-teen.

A lot of Ford products use/used a Phenolic piston in the caliber. It's a type of plastic type material that is set at closer clearances and if they get any buildup on the sides they will stick in the piston bore.

I used to sell tools for a living and can tell you that the torque sticks are better than nothin (Festus talk)but they are not perfect. The torque will vary from user to user, gun to gun, various pressures, etc.
Also, if you are torquing wheels often, bend over and buy a snap on torque wrench. It's the only one that will do a great job over and over and not break after a couple of months use. They don't have to be backed off either.I have a couple and sold other brands of toolsBR>
Yer right about the caliper slides. Most people just slap pads and then wonder why the job didn't last as long as the first set. You must clean(maybe sandpaper) the slides and lude them before replacing the pads.

If your buddy used only 10 gallons of "gas" (fuel fer those pesty oil burners he has an amazing truck there! I live in San Diego and it takes me 2 hrs and 15 minutes to get to Yuma and that's driving 75mph and I use about that much gas in my Honda Civic

176 miles to Campland by the bay to 16th st in Yuma so he got 17.6 mpg

Ohh creator your sooo smart i wish i could come up with fancy math like that anyhow back on the Shakin fords uynder braking while towing. Factory Ford rotors from 99 - ?? Suck arse. they warp like plastic by a flame. and once the rotors warp they dont really shake to bad under normal driving (assuming your not a brake happy woman with black wheels) but when you throw a 12,000 lb trailer behind it it tends to get its shake on. that shake then wears out your ball joints. then it starts makin a Clunk. its pretty nifty darn fords. Still love em anyway.
So saturday i was out riding with a buddy in his new Dodge 3500 Cummins 4x4 and he was like you wanna find out how fast it goes. I was like sure. Well we hit 105 and it was still pullin hard and we ran outta room due to traffic. I wonder what the rev limiter is on those cuz the ol ford goies limp at 97

Festus, you forgot to mention he picked you up from a state prison after a conjugal visit and the reason for speed was the prison break- away.
Creator, I have a cheap Chinese knock-off (Gel) torq wrench and it works fine for handyman use. shop use might be different. I'd need to sell your house in Diego or Zona to afford a Snap-On tool. Their arrogance is much like a Honda dealers. I'd rather buy from Allied or Mac or whoever, than them. But listen to me, I just spent $30 in a Snap -On truck, on an E-torx deep socket, E-5, in order to replace the solenoid on my GM starter. Funny, EVERY parts jobber sells the solenoid, NO ONE sells the tool you need to remove it??????go figure. and it would be a $3-5 socket anywhere else.

I'm getting ready to have the dealer here do thatMy warranty is up in 14,000 miles and I want new brakesat Ford's expensehr>
check the rotors for runout at the end of the rotor more that .004 can be felt in the truck. are the rotor blue in color?
do your truck have floating rotors?
the way you thighten the wheel can make a big deffence and if there not torque it will warp the rotors.
if you have them truned make shoure thay do it right. it mite be better to take it to a mech shop where the kid is not the one to do the work.

And my back was to that so I didn't see it. Don't park on the trail next time MD. BR>
Being I couldn't see 1/2 the time cause of the d*mn fog, I'll ride it again before I pass judgement completely. It's not my type of riding. Reminds me of the closed down "Hart Park" in Bakersfield which I hated. Too many of those single tracks cross the main trails. One guy ate it between me and another guy (Rob on the YFZ) when he stopped for me crossing on the main trail.
Hollister getting side swiped on a trail is less likely, unless you're in the Adobe Section and some a&& hat is riding where he isn't supposed to be riding. I'm not into hill climbing. Have a fear of going over backwards. But steep trails, I like Miami. You take it slow, but you work the bike. Clutch, brakes, etc. Though you can open it up on the roads or a few trails.

No this guy was probably early 20's. Like Skinner said, he was riding a wheelie in a rocky, bumpy terrain, look like the bike got a little TOO high, and got away from himHe went flying as well as the motorcycle. The bike must of gone 3 feet in the air and flew 10 feetll I saw, was the bike and the back of my truck in the same picture frameI said something like "OH SH!T"Or something similiar)and saw the bike land about 10 feet behind my truckWhew, I thought the back end was a gonnern a good note, the rider got up, clean his pantsicked up his motorcycle.

How far is this riding spot and how far do you guys drive to go riding. The desert is about 1 3/4 hrs from me and I sure wish it was closer
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
It's like 30 minutes from MD and 144 miles from me. Took me a little over 2 hours to get there from Fresno. It's Carnegie S.V.R.A. It's 6 miles north on I-580 from the I-5/I-580 split and like 6 miles west on Corral Hollow Road. It straddles the San Juaquin-Alameda County line.
Map of Carnegie S.V.R.A.
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
Of course I do wish everywhere I ride was closer, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I pretty much drive 1 hour minimum to go riding (Miami). Pismo is 2.5 hrs. Hollister and Carnegie is a little over 2 hours. Hungry Valley (Gorman) is like 2.5-3 hrs (only went once Memorial Day '03).
This Memorial Day is looking to be a 6+ hour trip to Sand Mountain, NV. I'll have to see how that works out. Definately going to be a LONG drive for me. Mapquest says to go through Yosemite to get there! I think I'll be going up through Sac and cut over on 80. Plus that way I can hook up with the crew coming from the Bay Area (mstrquad) and those from Sac.
Not really sure I would want to drive any further than that. Though a Glamis trip would be nice just to check it out.

Like Skinner said, I'm about 30 minutes or so from Carnegie. I have 3 riding areas within 30-40 mins of my house. The Sierra's are about 1 1/2 hour away. Good thing about the valley is, you can be in the mountains or at the coast in 2 hours or less, if traffic isn't heavyBR>

How about Miami on Sunday? Gives me tomorrow to wash the bike, and the truck so I can get them dirty again. My quad looks like I've been to Hollister!
I know we talked about it before, but the two Tulare PD Officers were sent home yesterday from the hospital. Hopefully they fully recover. When they'll return to duty is unknown. The guy may have permament vision damage to his left eye and wouldn't be able to return to duty. DA & defense both had the PD Report sealed but it should be open after the prelim. hearing.

Wash the bike to muddy it up againOr, is Miami covered in snow? We had a heck of a system blow through today, must of left an inch of hail on the ground. Then about an inch of rain is 20 mins. Water was overflowing my guttersBR>
Glad to hear about the officersNot good if he lost sight in one eyeThey can still get by, with only giving out so much information at prelim especially if they skip a prelim and go directly to the grand jury. The reports can then be sealed until the trial starts.

Today I went on the toughest, most technical ride i've been on so far. We had 6 Grizzlys, 3 Kodiaks, an AC400 and a Polaris 500. it was quite hilarious, the Grizzs' got renamed "Goldwings". But what a blast when you have a big group like that to all help out. Lotsa winching, mud, water, rocks, boulders. Tight, off camber trails. huge roots and logs, rocky creek beds. getting pitched and thrown in all directions. One guy was trying to angle his Grizz and somehow stood it straight up on the nose and flew over his handlebars and remained upright (himself), while his grizz was still standing on it's nose against a tree. it was awesome. we even got pics...but it's so dark in the rain forest they don't turn out too well. and it rained the whole time.

Man, that sounds like a cool ride. I would love to do a ride like that but don't have that type of quad

AP and UPI reported that the French Government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "run" to "hide." The only two higher levels in France are "surrender" and "collaborate.'" The increased alert was precipitated by the recent fire which destroyed the French white flag factory; effectively disabling their military.
On another Note Confuscious what do i need to have to come to canada and show you guys that sport quads are just as able and utes

hey the french... someone both our countries can agree to despise.. oh, but yer not bilingual and still paying off one state like we are to Quebec... oh well, still a good post.
on the second part Festus, apparently what you'll need is a chubby cuz that's the only thing that'll motivate your perverted a$$ to get up here. i just gotta find ya an alley-cat.
NO WAY a sport quad would make it thru that entire run (unless you had a winch). there were a few times diff lock made all the difference since 2-3 other wheels weren't touching. but i know what ya mean, sports are underrated for LOTS of this stuff. and i bet you'd leave behind some nasty deep holes for the rest of us after spinning out to get thru some of these muddy spots. BUT, you need to be a GOOD sport rider to get thru most of this ride, whereas a mediocre ute rider can get thru with a good 4x4.
I goofed, the Polaris i was following was having a heck of a time. too wide, and kept getting bounced into some ruts and deep tire holes. I got by a few places easier than he did, just cuz my Kodiak is narrower, and i think i had better tires. well, i said it was a 500. NOT..it was a 700 EFI.

ya, this is our rainy season, October-June. ask Festus, it's prolly been close to that for him. I'll post a couple of more pics. but if you don't wear that rain gear on a ride like this (or any rainy day ride) yer done in an hour and freezing.

If he doesn't bring some alley cats with him, I'm sure he could smell them outimg src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> And, if that's the case, that could be down right nastyBR>

Just for that reason, I've been thinking about throwing a winch on to the front of my Z400Make it a little more versatileBR>

I know what you mean. This is our rainy part of the year tooAfter April, we might get a light shower or two. But the heavy stuff is gone until October'ishBR>
I've been eyeing some weather gear in Rocky Mountain ATV, I think it's made by ARCnd isn't too overly priced
Posted by: confusedbuyer
i bought a complete $10 made-in-china overalls, jacket and hat from someplace similar to Oak Harbor freight. pretty cheap, but it doesn't hold up very well. what about Helly Hansen? that's supposed to be good stuff.
ya, what Festus would find with his nose here is ORCA!!
I've seen your rain problems on TV a couple of weeks ago. pretty nasty stuff.
hey, i just posted a couple of more rock climbin pics. now how you gonna get a sporty over that, just launch??

Can't say I've heard of Helly HansenSomeone a few weeks ago posted they bought a decent suit at Costco for like $25-$30. I remember seeing them also and thought they were decent quality. But, in my line of workI've learned those vinyl/rubber suits don't last to longAnd you still need to wear heavy garments under it. The suit in RMATV becomes a vest, folds into it's own pouch and for about $ 150 bucks, I, could live with what you getBR>
Well, they did release ORCA/Shamu up there somewhere, didn't theyBR>
I see you camera is gone, I'll watch for it in about a 1/2 hourBR>
Yea we got hammered with some nasty stuff. A lot of what you saw is down in L.A. area. Stupid people, they build a house on the mountain side and wonder why every 5-10 years, it falls down the mountain sideThen, they blame the state. DUH,, move idiots

If you want real rain gear you cant beat grundens Brigg 44 for nothin. there is no better raingear than commercial duty grundens. FYI. it aint cheap but its tough as nails
Posted by: OneFlyCowboy
Confuscious i did not see your pictures when posting this but if you can go on a 4x4 i can go on my sporty just let me go first i might need to get some speed and you just get in the way
Posted by: confusedbuyer
yep, landslide isn't covered by Insurance either. we've had the same here. and guys homemade retaining walls giving way onto the highway and shutting it down for several hours.
Helly Hansen is heavy duty rain gear, from Washington? I know they've got a factory outlet for them in Centralia (south of Olympia).
speaking of Costco, i just bought a $60 Cdn winch from them. Has a 6 or 12 foot remote, 2000lb, AND a really cool snatch block included. try buying that from Warn for under $300. just gotta find a mounting plate now, or make one.

Just approved the picsWell, those are some nasty looking rocksn our area, they would be called bouldersIf I couldn't go over them with a little speedI guess, I would need to lower the bar a littleand go around themBR>

ok confuscious i seen your pictures. Piece of cake. stay out my way. but still all them logs make for a slow rough ride. I like to haul bass
Posted by: confusedbuyer
i know what ya mean about speed and cajoles getting you thru lotsa stuff, but how will you do that on a narrow, off-camber twisting , sloped trail? well, i won't argue with ya, but if you read what i said carefully, a GOOD rider on a sporty vs a mediocre rider on the 4x4. i'm the mediocre rider. put me on your sporty and how far do you think i'll get on this trail? i need a bum-moon emoticon to flash you here!

that'd be great hothead. should we call the hospital or the morgue ? yep, most of you sport riders are half a brain cell from a Darwin award.a whole brain cell would be overestimating the contents of the helmet. that's why we go out into the bush lookin for 4x4 type stuff.... to get away from you maniacs. BR>
MD, it's a Champion Power Equipment Inc brand. 1 year warranty. Their address is 1715 Business Center Drive, DUARTE, CA, 91010. Hey, that's gotta be close to you!? They must just be a distributor, cuz I'm sure they're made in China quality. I bought $40 US for $50 Cdn when i went to the Seahawks game a few weeks ago, so you under-estimated our strong currency img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
NOW, i was looking for a mounting plate and fairlead...OUCH!! Warn plate is $53 and fairlead is $40 (?) at gowarn.com, and they're usually cheapest. those are US prices too, BEFORE shipping. I never paid that for the winch!! Looks like i'll be trying to fab something up in the shop.

BTW MD, how's the daughter takin to the Rap80? AND, if ya can't get one of these winches for cheap at home, i could always grab you one for my March trip to Oregon.

Duarte is down south in LALA Land. Easy to tell...see the ZIP code? Anything less than about 92xxx is going to be SoCal. I'm 936/937 here in Fresno/Clovis. 932xx (Bakersfield main P.O.) is just south of me. MD is in the north central part of the valley and IIRC 95xxx for the ZIP. He's roughly east of the San Fracisco Bay area. ZIPs incread as you go north.
Everyone sees California and thinks "Oh you must be close to that." This isn't R.I. people!

Confuscious im a few cells shy of a full charge. but i hang on. Seriously though "Not to be a braggart or anything" When i put my tractor gears on the rappy she can crawl like a 4x4. as long as ya dont take me out into some mud overmy head i can get there. i like to haul ass but i like bustin trail thru the brush as well. I kinda look at my rap as one of them trials bikes but anyhow i was thinkin about puttin one of them lil warn 1.2ci winches on the front of the rap.help keep the front end down a bit as well and give me more traction in the corners

okay, thanks Cliff Claven! I kinda figured it wasn't close, it was almost tongue in cheek, cuz people think ALL of Canada is minutes away. At least i got you guys in the right state. I've driven from Weed to LA, so I do remember it took a full day to travel north to south.

now why would a sport rider gear down???makes no sense. I'm sure you are one of those maniacs that can out ride me in 2wd, on my 4wd. BUT, why doncha organize a ride up here to the great white north. It'll only take ya 2 hours to get here.I'll get some guides together. the mud was really loose, more like deep, wet slop...pretty easy to track thru. I don't think that'd slow ya down one bit. it's just the off-camber pitches , logs, ruts, etc... force ya to slow down and crawl. but other stuff, yer right, a good run with momentum might pitch the front end up straight, but lean forward and you'll get thru.
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
I'm actually looking to gear down my bike to a 12T countersprocket. See if that will help me up at Miami where most of the riding is slow. As it is now, on the trail if you get out of 3rd gear you're moving (unless you're hanging the a$$ end out on the fire roads. I might lose about 10MPH on the top end, if that. I know I do with my 20" paddles (22" stock tires.) I might also look for a 14T for desert and see what that does with the paddles.
Gearing down is like putting some bigger gears in the truck. Might lose a little on the top, but it makes the bottom so much better.
I've talked to people and they ask if I go to the beach everyday and surf. LOL. Yeah, I'm gonna go drive 2.5 hours everyday.

Skinner on my Warrior i ran 12t front 42 rear with 22" Holshot XCT rears. It worked pretty good Its not fast top speed but you can pull the hills. Right now with the motor pumped up on that warrior it has a 15 42 i think and i dont like it gonna put it back to 12. climbin tourque monger that way. My raptor for trails i run 12x44 i have 13x40(stock) with 22" rears right now for roads. Way to fast for technical trails right now.
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
I'm still stock on the gear (13/42 (or 40) I think.) I finally replaced the balloons and have one weekend on them, if that. I went with the Kenda Klaws all the way around. I'm running 1-2" wider in the rear now. Only problem is my ramp is a bugger to get between the wheels now. LOL I was expecting to lose some power due to the weight, but she feels just as peppy and responds a little better to body english in the corners.

I'm going to put 20" XCR's on the back of mine, hopefully this weekend

actually, we were out at a muddy area and a guy on a banshee had some kinda wide, fat tires. well he spun them tires so fast, he screamed thru the mud and almost hydroplaned it. the guy on the Grizz got ugly stuck and a Jeep winched him out. this just seems like 4x4 rec quad country. BUT, there are some logging roads where you could get going fast. no dunes and very little sand riding.

MD, SNOW??? Isn't that the stuff you have to go to Canada to find?? We got none here, and the mountains don't even look covered (there's some up there, but usually they look totally white on top). How far is it from you?
well, i just did major tune-up to jr.'s Rap80, including valve adjustments, and cam chain tension adjustment. both are best done at the same time, and relatively easy to do. i have an OLD manual I copied from the library for the old Moto80 and Moto200 (we had BOTH those quads at a time). Confucious i have learned that words... are just that words. you cannot convince a pig headed sum B@tch like yourself that the ocean has fish in it, let alone convince ya that some chitty sport quad gonna hand with a beastly ute. i think the helmet is a wash it 7 year old and the wife gave me the ok at xmas to get a new one
Posted by: mstrquad
NO FAIR!! you know I'm married, so naturally I'd be an expert at it. My wife was given a special food supplement to remove all sexual urges.... it's called wedding cake.
is that what tthat was????lmfao
Posted by: confusedbuyer
MD, tell my wife about the grass ain't always greener. my saying to her is, "better the devil you know than the one you don't"... See, we're moving. Building a new house. BUT I lose my double detached garage=shop. also lose huge yard, and parking lot size driveway. no where to store or ride our quads or trailer at new place either. BUT, her parents live across the street, so that'll be one nice thing to get away from.
Festus, that'd be my advice too.... NO KIDS. all the responsibilty, committments for your time and $$. and on and on. heck, we'd both still be skinny with no kids.

Well confuscious you just been eatin all the food tryin to make sure your lil daughter dont plump up
Posted by: OneFlyCowboy
Ohh and just so ya know confuscious, I did read and thats why i didnt react. I know your smart enough to know rider makes 80% of it. so a 20% rider on a ute only 40% of the mission a say 70% rider on a sport still 70% wich is 30% more than the ute guy I really wanna get me a Ute though dont get me wrong. Sometimes gettin so freakin dirty just bugs the hell outta me. Its mainly the puddles. I like to go fast but for some reason I always get water up my nose goin thru puddles over the tires at 40mph. I know a ute wont solve that part since its the wall of water in front of me effect

About the white stuff. The farther south you go this year, the more there is. Weird. Central Sierra is at 150% and don't need any more (i.e. they are 100% for April 1 which is the date they figure no more snow). As you go south it onle gets better.
Have to see on Sat. where the snow line is. Might be spotty at 4500' in the shade. Might have to reach out and look for some. Though at that point you listen intently for the banjos. LOL
So who gets #4000?

well, in order to create the effect i described in my previous post, one must consume copious amounts of rye whiskey..., not that horrible gasahol-blended bourbon/sourmash crud you guys drink.

the secret to big puddles is outerwears and take the drain plug off your airbox. I need to finish my airbox. Need to put outerwaers over my snorkle and patchg in the slots in the lid that i cut with some more fabric. repells water. Never had water in my carb and ive done 40+miles thru water over the tires. I did however get my airfilter wet. but that dont leave me drainin the carb? sure them canadian gas stations arnt just sellin you water? you may wanna check the drainage at the station your buyin gas BR>
My god confuscious how you you baby girl feel about you trash talkin her like that"? and Ohhh i bet she aint a VEGATARIAN.

MD, need i remind you to look in your own liquor cabinet and see what your BEST bottle is.... CROWN ROYAL, a fine CANADIAN rye whiskey. that's okay guys, if you can plug your nose and stomach bourbon/sourmash, then drinking rye is a luxury... a treat to yourself.

Hey MD, I'm working up a weekend ride for Miami in April over on Club ATV West.
Anybody else from FBK wanna spend their tax refunds (ha ha) to come ride?
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
I don't drink any of that garbage. I'm damn near a walking pharmacy. One of the meds can be unkind to the liver. Doc asked me if I a drank. Told him nope. Told me good, don't start. I don't know how people can stand any of it. Excuse me while I go puke.

Come on Skinner, if it's done in moderation, it's not bad. I have all kinds of liquor in my house. Some of it is probably over 2-3 years oldI have beer in my refridgerator that is past the drink by dateI might have 1 beer in 6 months or 6 beers in 1 night. What I usually drink during these winter months is; hot chocolate with some Schnapp's poured inhmmm, hhmmm, goodBR>
But, hey, more power to you for obstaining from it
