MD, ya BLEW IT!! my wife never reads the Honda forum so my info was safe there, then you divulge the origin here and she reads all these posts, so now i'm doomed. Thanks a lot. I bet you'd tell her all the gory secrets from a road trip too!you exposed my secret cuz you're po'ed that Houston got beat up by that Canadian phenom Larry Walker. He's from a nearby suburb of Vancouver (maple ridge).you should never bet against a sports team with Canadian players. And Larry played junior hockey, so he's probably a better scrapper than any of them other panzy ball players.
they were led like mules, one guide in front, one at the back. that way they couldn't stray or joyride. mostly inexpereinced tourists from asia, who can't operate anything motorized at the best of times. They get blinded by a windshield. and the terrain is so densely forrested, they 'd get lost if they strayed form the pack. plus, the 250 is too tame for a renter who wants to go thrash something. kinda funny, the guy said the biggest problem was they were always rearending each other on rides. img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I think that's the kinda MSB Hoss had a couple weeks back while wife was having her surgery recovery. In Hoss' case, the back-up was clearly affecting his brain activity as evidenced by his freakish, Cybil-like behaviour. Oops, sorry, there i go being mean again.

Larry Walker is lucky to be there, he was a trade during the season, what did he really do to get them here? He rode on Pujol and Edmonds back. That's all you Canadians are good for, riding on the back of us good o' Americansand one South AmericanBR>
Yea, I bet there is a lot of rear end damage on that thinghy do you think they wear thick coke bottle glasses

well, I'd expect nothing less than sour grapes from someone who was pulling for the Astros. Pujols... he needs to have that name pronounced phonetically, not correctly. Ummmmm, how did Cards get to play 'stros?? OH, they had to win their first round against (now I forgot..it's late... was it Angels??). WHat I do remember clearly is that Walker was huge in the first series. He is an overall good hitter plus a good fielder. He wasted away in Colorado for years, and most teams trying to make a serious run will pick up players that will help. So yes, he never got them to the play-offs, but he sure helped them once there (and down the regular season stretch he was awesome), AND, he really is a class act who deserves to be on a contender at this point in his career.he's a good team player, unlike Tavares. And he's not a glory-hound like Pujols who ignores the 3base coach who screams and signals him to hold up, so he runs for home anyways (and gets tagged out by a mile). selfish. did I mention Walker's Canadian?

Larry Walker is a decent fielder who has a nice, smooth swing. I guessthat's why he can put up good numbersI think he will get more respect if, he stays with them and bring thems back to the WS next year. I don't think swapping teams in the mist of a pennant race, gives you the right to brag about being thereBut, then again, he's not the one bragging about being there or from Canada, now is heActually, I like LarryHe is a good ball player with a solid batI would like to see either team win itBut, I think I'll root for BostonThey kicked the Yankees AZZ and even though, I like A-Rod and Torre, I enjoy watching Steinbrenner spend money like crazy, and come up emptyBR>

ya, i've got real mixed feelings about this series too, cuz I'll be okay with either team winning. for the Sox (and mostly their fans), I'd love nothing better for them than to be able to say, "take this stupid BS curse and ram it up your hoop". as a team, i like them better. the only reason i like Cards is for Walker, who does deserve a chance at a series after all his years of LOYAL service to the same crappy team. And you like A-Rod?? Ya, there's a guy that got the Yanks to the pennant this year! NOT! and class...NOT! but i do like Joe Torre.
actually, Walker has won several gold glove awards as a fielder, but i wouldn't expect you to give him credit for anything more than average. after all, he is from Canada, so why would you want to give him any respect. truthfully, we love to jump on the bandwagon when we see they're from Canada, but I heard Jim Carrey just applied for (or got) US Citizenship. I'm sure the stars and athletes much prefer the US earnings and WAY WAY lower taxation. and once you live somewhere for awhile, i firmly believe you become a local, not where you came from. (if only all our immigrants could adopt a similar stance).
okay now MD, you and i have been yackin way too much off-topic (where's the rest of you allegedly red-blooded Americans on this one?? I thot baseball is the national game?? you know, baseball, apple-pie and Chevrolet. chevrolet, a frenchman, nowhere as American as a good 'ol American boy like FORD!! guess i'll have to go to the GM site to chat ball. ) So anyways, I had a point here, to tie this all in. Earlier this year, Larry Walker was out riding his QUAD on his large spread in Colorado, and he and his riding companion (son??) discovered a dead body. what kinda quad do ya figure he was riding, a Bombardier cuz they're made in Canada? NOT....he wouldn't have got there if he was, cuz it woulda been broken down (sorry LJ). Probably a Polaris to keep up the "I'm really an American now" image.img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif" border="0">

Damn laptop...it froze on me on my last post...so here I go again.
This morning at the gym...
I go to the gym 5-6 times a week (0500 to 0635)... I workout, checkout chicks, workout some more, checkout more chicks, workout again, and then off to the showers...
Anywho, this morning was such a treat!!! There was a guy in the locker room that looked just like fat bastard from Austin Powers. He was all hairy, blubbery, and he loves to walk around neked. (confused and festus would really like him) Anyway, as I was pimping, I mean, primping in front of the mirror (I was fully clothed by the way)...fat bastard decited to comb his hair, brush his teeth, etc. right next to me (standing in front of the mirror with his "You think I'm Sexy" self...again, totally neked).img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0">
I think I may have burnt my retina's.
Oh yeah, I love my PSD, and I just bought Rotella T Synthitic for my baby (oil change time).

Oh hoss you know you thought he was sexy as all get out. you just check out those chicks to try and convince yourself that you like them better than the Sheep. But Fat Bastard really reminds you of your prize sheep back home (not the wifey) Its ok.
Posted by: nedflanders
so what you're saying is, had he been cut and buff, you woulda got a chubby??then back to the shower for an exchange of drop the soap. ya damn queer!
boy, that Synthetic at 14 quarts must make for an expensive oil change. does it really last any longer?
Posted by: Whitewater
Alright, alright...you caught me. Fat bastard really does make me Randy. It was freaking sick!!!!!! However, DairyQueen would love to lick bacon grease off his rolls and rolls of fat. Where is she anyway? Is she too good to talk to us?
I've gone about 8k since my last oil change. It costs me about $65 to do it myself.
Posted by: nedflanders
i thot diesel creates ash which is why they have such a big oil capacity: so you don't need to change oil too often. so why would sythentic change that, and allow you to go any longer between changes??
Posted by: Whitewater
The manual says every 3K, but with synthetic you can go 7.5K or longer. How often do you change it?
Posted by: nedflanders
that's my point, because you're changing oil for ash content vs. viscosity breakdown, i didn't think synthetic would give you more mileage between changes. I use regular 15W40 diesel oil bought in bulk (20 quart containers) and change it every 4500k. i usually have to add 1 quart between changes. costs me $30 change.
Posted by: Whitewater
hmmmmmm....very interesting. I guess I never thought of it that way - that's the first I have heard of that (ash).
Posted by: OneFlyCowboy
Cheveron Delo 40 change the oil every 5k miles and use Baldwin Filter and dont have to add a drop between changes and she has 140k miles

Toyo, I knew it wouldn't be too long before someone brought Ferry I mean Terry, or is it Kerryinto the picture. He's only for the team because, they are kicking azz and puts him in the media's queer eye

I just never liked the way a-rod carried himself. could be i was just disgusted by the 1/4 BIL they signed him to in Texas and then he seemed like a malcontent. then he trashed the Yankees short stop when they traded him. altho that one coulda been media twisting. i think it's the 1/4 BIL that makes my skin crawl, cuz in the end, it's the fans who pay for it.

I know what your are saying about the outrageous pay these guys get. Can't really blame the players. I mean, if someone wanted to pay me an outrageous amount , I would do it tooUnfortunately, the tax payers don't think I'm worth to muchimg src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> By A-Rod taking that much money from Texas, he limited what the could pay or wanted to pay for a competitive team. Then you have Steinbrenner who will pay whatever it takes, to make sure 1. Boston doesn't get a player who will make a difference in their rivalry and 2. Get him to the play-offs and WS every year. I just love t, when owners like him, loseBR>
When my daughters found out how much players make per bat or per game. They were floored
When we told them the garbagemen make $50 an hour. My youngest (8 yrs old) said, at that rate, she would work slower, so she would make more money..Gotta love her thinking

Well, I understand where they are coming from. They are just going by the letter of the law. And WTHell? Half a Billion for a new stadium? What's wrong with the current one? Sheesh. If the local gov. pays for a new stadium, I hope they own it.
A few years back when Fresno got a AAA baseball team (SF Giants affiliate) the group (Diamond Group) who owns the team, wanted the city to give them a loan (about $20M) without them having to disclose any financials. Luckily the city council told them to take a flying...ya. City issued the bonds and owns the stadium while the Diamond Group manages it. Though I think DG shouldn't even get to manage it. Though, the city would probably run it into the ground. They finally outsourced the Convention Center and it's getting things. Before there wasn't much coming into CC. But with the new Save Mart (Regional supermarket chain based in Stockton) Center changed all that. 1/2 the sports (Fresno Falcons Hockey) moved to the SMC and left a huge hole in the CC calendar.

w00t. Just got home. hahahah Not many people out on the roads at 1am..

ya, the owners are bad for doling out the big dough, but then all the average and fringe guys use that as a measuring stick for their demands. thing is, when they need to raise more $$ to get one of these guys, we pay for it with higher ticket prices, $8 cup of beer, $10 burger, $20 parking (these are all real numbers at a Canucks game.... but hey, ya may get to see Bertuzzi try to sucker punch and pile-drive a guy's head through the ice and end his career). it's to the point now where i don't want to support it anymore.
i understand sports is a biz, so when owners ask a city to fund their biz by building the venue, makes me wanna hurl. you already support it by going to the games, buying stuff there, wearing the teams colors, etc.. does that mean owner will share his profits with me?
so i just cleaned the carb on the XR70 and found some very strange crud in there. then it purred on cold start, purred when warm. so i decided to clean the wife's carb on the Recon. air box was filthy, so cleaned that up. choking this thing on cold start really seems to do nothing. I think the in-line fuel filters should be standard equipment on everything, not just the little screens in the petcock/fuel tank. anyways, maybe when i get the Recon's air/fuel screw adjusted properly tomorrow, it'll run better on cold start. such a bugger to get at that screw tho.

Isn't it great when the spoiled owners threaten to leave town, unless the cities build them a state of the art stadium. Local town just lost the Oakland A's, Double AA team to a near-by city. That city built a new stadium. What sucks is, the minor league team won their division's championship and the new park will be flying the bannerand the community supported that team and the games were nearly, always sold out. That suxs. So, now, that town just signed a new contract for a minor league team from the Colorado Rockieshat will be named later. The Maloof brothers also tried that crap in Sacramento with the Kings and lost on the special ballot. Now, we will see what their plans are for that team. Maybe Las Vegas, seeing that's their hang out town.

Confused, like one of your other post's read in another thread, by the time your done with this Honda, you will be an expert in it too
Posted by: confusedbuyer
we went for a ride yesterday. it was sunny in the AM, overcast when we were loading for an hour or so, then started to sprinkle as we left. we drove an hour to find a decent riding area. and then did it rain! cold, super muddy (which was fun). then driving winds, hail, lightning, thunder. after 1 1/2-2 hours, we were done. at the end i got high centered in a big puddle where i couldn't see bottom. there were deep ruts i couldn't see and it doesn't matter what you have when your tires aren't touching; you're stuck! so I had to get off the quad and was standing bag high in COLD water and muck. NOW i see why guys go to the 27 & 28" tire packages. but all they do is dig the ruts deeper so the rest of us can't get thru. guess this is one of the good things about Arctic Cat=ground clearance.
isn't it a pain loading up for the ride?? wish i had a nice enclosed toy hauler where I could just hook up and go. problems are: some srote-bag thief could do the same, and what would we do for the trips where we want to camp?
Quebec City had the worst NHL team for years. they finally started to get good and their players matured, draft picks and trades all worked out. the NEXT year they re-locate to Colorado and win their first ever Stanley Cup in first year in Colorado. I'd be a bitter Quebec fan. that's what ya get for having french as your first language i guess.

MD, you watch the game last night? LW, 4/5, solo HR, 2RBI + his "non-hit" (error on Ramirez) brought in the tying run and put LW on base, plus a guy on third (8th inning?). unfortunately, next 2 batters blew it. the guys who "carried" LW and the team (Pujols, Edmonds & Rolon) were 1/12 with runners in scoring position. hard to believe they still got 9 runs with those big guns silenced.
it was bittersweet for me. nice to see that lunatic Tavares blow the game for Cards, and nice to see Sox win. ya, when you average their stats against their salaries, it's staggering.
okay, ever since you and Toyo publicly trashed me in the Honda forum, you scared Gimpster away and now i can't get any info from him img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">he must have seen too many posts and ran!

BTW, 7 y/o had a friend sleepover Friday. On Sat when we're loading up for ride, his dad comes to pick him up. (No Hoss, he never peed on his leg or commented on the capacity of his srotum). Dad says he heard i might have quad for sale, and he bought the '93 LT80.
Posted by: confusedbuyer
took 4 hours to hose off the mud from the quads and clothes and boots today. we spend more time maintaining and looking after these things than we do riding them! The 2002 Honda has way more use on it than our 1984 Yamaha.... hard to believe isn't it? the '84 still has at least 1/2 the original tires. wife's family is original owner.
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
My Warrior is in need of some new rear shoes. I've gone through about 1/2 the tread. I like to hang it out when I can. Take some loose dirt, gravel, etc. Doesn't have the power to break the back end loose whenever.
A freind finally replaced the original rear tires on her '96 Blaster within the last year. But she lives at Pismo so she runs paddles (went through one set already) most of the time.
Posted by: confusedbuyer
I guess sand must be easy on paddles. you probably get a lot of riding before it actually wears them out?? or am i just on bad drugs?

Don't you hate it, when you need to dismount when your ride after getting stuckDid you have to get winched out or were you able to get out on your own? That's cool you sold the 80 like thataved money by not advertisingBR>With the new quads, hopefully your wrenching times will go down and the riding times will increaseinus getting stuck in the mud of courseBR>
You know, you can't let the scrotes of the world run you off from doing what you want to do. Buy a couple of locks for the trailer. Lock the hitch and wrap a chain around the wheels or pull the "break away" brake pin, if your that worried about it.
And don't you just lovethe spoiled owners of the major sports, we all love so much

Oh, I got one better MD...pallets (or any wood with nails). I was at the beach this year for a party with a bunch of non-riders. Well the woman who put this thing on (I'll leave her parenting skills unspooken) has been "coming to the beach with my family for years" and her family brings two 30 gal. trash cans full of wood WITH nails to the beach for firewood. I was livid when I seen it. I pulled all the wood with nails out of the pile and put it back in the trash can and pulled it away from the fire. Woke up in the morning with half the trashcan empty sitting next to the firepit. Then laid into her.
People let their kids run around without shoes on. Hell, if I had kids they'd be walking around with riding boots on all day.
Posted by: confusedbuyer
the New York Rangers have bought every expensive hockey player they can. and they haven't made the play-offs for at least 3-4 years, with the highest payroll by a long margin. they keep spending more, and it just doesn't work. hockey is a true team sport where you need chemistry. if you load up on prima-donas, they become a cancer to the team. you need grinders, and guys willing to take a beating for the team, check the other teams stars, etc..
baseball is the exception, because of all team sports, it's pretty much a 1-1 confrontation between the pitcher and batter. you still need decent fielding and guys to hustle to back each other up, but you can have all the prima-donas together and win. it's the most individual team sport, IMHO.
i love seeing the big spenders being unable to buy a winner. i guess if you're a fan of that team, ya gotta appreciate what the owner is doing, but when it's a contest of who's the richest and can spend the most, it really takes something away from the game, and the team & fans that brought the player along and were patient with their growing pains, only to lose him to $$.
Toy hauler is just WAY too expensive to pretty much have sitting there, plus, i still need travel trailer to camp. but if $$ was no object, i'd have it.
we use the Buy and Sell. check it out at www.buysell.com. EVERYTHING gets bought/sold thru there. AND, the adds are FREE (unless you want photo add, or bold type). you can browse by letter (A-Z), and find whatever you're looking for. on-line, you'll be looking at the previous weeks' adds, until Monday, then it's current adds. the new edition comes out on Thursday and you can buy the hard-copy paper, or pay for it to view it on-line. great way to buy and sell items.
ya, it was kinda wierd where i got high centered. i wasn't dug in at all, my tires just weren't touching anything . so when i got off, it was amazingly easy to lift it over to something solid. almost like it floasted a little. still heavy, but not like when you're sucked in. then you can move it for nuthin. had to lift the front and rear over, so i got good and soaked going back and forth, plus the stuff i was walking on was gooey/mushy, sucking my boots off my feet.
i'm sure you clowns img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> didn't scare away gimpster. apparently some other folks have a life, so if they reply to you or try to help ya with a problem, that may be all ya get. I know i've asked a few guys additional questions, or to clarify or elaborate on advice given, and you never hear back. it's like, "I told ya once, if you can't figure it out, you're on your own". hey, at least they try to help in some way. but it's nice when ya get someone willing to hold your hand thru the dumb questions until you've finished the job. i know I always do when i give repair advice. and i give details like the person asking is a dummy like me. heck, i look up specs in my manuals all the time and share the info with folks. I've even faxed wiring diagrams, etc.. anyways, that's me.

(naive I'm sure. stuff gets closed down cuz of the thoughtless boobs, not the MAJORITY of good users).

Yesterday and today, we finally had a break in the weathero, I had a chance to work on the trailer, bought some pretty thick stuff to patch the roof of the trailer with thought peanut butter was thickhis stuff you apply with a sticktill have 3 sides to patch though. They are not leakingbut, why wait. Had to replace the 220 plug that is on the trailer, it developed a short toohe list goes on and on and onBR>Thinking about bearing buddies for it too. They have ones that have a "red" indicator on them, when the indicator is all the way in, you need to grease the bearings. That way, you don't over grease them and run the risk of getting grease on your brakes, which is bad

Here's a PSD question for you guysAnyone have the K&N filter on their truck? If so, pros and cons about it? I know one friend of mine has it on his new F150, he tells me, you can actually hear the extra air it's sucking into the intakeI have the k&n on my mojave and love the difference that kit made to itut, I would just be doing the air filter on the trck, no re-jetting here, I would think the computer would make that difference upBR>
Any comments?

toy hauler, i meant like an enclosed car trailer, 16-20' long.
they have buy and sell all across Canada. wouldn't trust it?? WTH?? you go to the sellers home to see the item, you know where they live. you can run VIN #'s thru CPIC here ( you would have even better access to police network). you can read the seller pretty quick. NOW, if the seller is evasive and wants to meet somewhere... or has BS answers.. then i might suspect the item as stolen.
i thot you were in law enforcement?you should know all this! i'm not telling you anything new.people here RARELY fence stolen property thru the paper, especially big ticket items. they sell them at swap meets where you rent a table, or thru other sleazy friends, but generally not thru the buy and sell. they do try some atv scams tho....... you know the ones..... 2004 Grizz with snowplow (from Florida.. no BS), alum wheels, 100 miles on it, $2500. wire me the $$ Western Union and i'll ship quad for free! I think ebay gets lots of these. they are so obvious, but i guess some fools and their $$ are still soon parted.

Confused, we do the same thing. When we are done, the kids grab a garbage bag and start walking around, picking up everything and anything doesn't belong there. Which is just about anything. People are such slobs
Posted by: confusedbuyer
I've got a K&N. I did the chip first, then kn. because chip is SO noticeable, i guess i expected to see a difference like that with kn, which never happened. I think your pal is hearing the suction noises from somewhere else, perhaps a face in the lap while driving?? i never noticed a performance diff.
PRO: you don't have to replace, only clean filter= cheaper.
allegedly better filtration
CON: cleaning them really is a big pain, 2-3 step procedure, vs. throwing old paper filter in trash can and putting new one in.
they tell ya let it go for quite awhile between cleans, don't be paranoid about dirt build-up; that build-up helps catch other dirt particles and helps it work better. but looking at the dirty filter just seems wrong! you wanna clean it ( too many atvs where i clean air filter often, i guess).
Posted by: rescuediver
Part two of your reply, was what I was thinking about on the buysell.com thing. I have a big problem buying a large ticket item over the internet, without seeing it, or the seller/owner in person. In case you didn't know, as a professional, I cannot use my position for access into controlled areas for personal means. Guys have actually lost their jobs over this need to go about this as a private person.
When I hear/say toy hauler, I think of a toy trailertherwise, it's just an enclosed trailer to me

we used to go to a swimming hole on the side of a busy highway, but nice and close and convenient. nice grassy bank to sit on. some people would come by, but since it wasn't that private, it wasn't crawling with folks. but lotsa cans and bottles and garbage would get left. i think the one that made me boil was these low-lifes that looked fresh out of prison biker/tow-truck driver looking. their 2 y/o has huge crappy diaper, plus another wet one. they left it there, and WE cleaned it up. made me sick. eventually, the spot got totally closed down, and they let lakeweed grow like crazy in the area, so now no one would swim there anyways.
and yep, littering drives me crazy because it's selfish and lazy, 2 characteristics i can't tolerate in people. look around a corner store. how hard is it for kids to throw chip bags and candy wrappers in trash can??

LMAOI don't think it was from a face plantThe new F150s are suppose to be really sound proof on the interior from outside noise. According to him, the noise wasn't there before the k&n was installedWith the PSD, I don't think the sucking noise will be a problem, I might even look forward to ityselfBR>
Yea, I guess, I would expect a jump in horsepower toout, I already have the chip myselfso, I guess I would do it for the convenience of not worrying about an air filter for 50,000 miles

CPIC is Canadian Police Information Centre. Public has limited access, such as running VINS for any item that has one. it will show if the item has been reported stolen across Canada. i know what ya mean about personal use. i need to call on sources often, and things have really tightened up over the years. the problem is trusting the one you're giving the info too, not getting the info. so you can guess how i answered those Q's on the political test, and i still came up pinko!! that's why i'm saying it's flawed. mind you, you did come out as Hitler, so you're really scaring me you haven't been practicing your goose-stepping since then have you?

i should clarify the buysell thing. it's LOCAL. there's one for Vanvouver, one for calgary, AB, one for Edmonton etc.., so you phone and go meet the seller, nothing like ebay. it's just that you can review the add over the internet before you phone. It's full name was Buy and Sell Classifieds, so it's the same as the local newspaper.
man, if you can hear that K&N suck over the clatter of a diesel........ you must have bionic hearing.

Your CPIC, sounds like our NCIC National Crime Information Center. Probably do the same thing. We have to test every 2 years and sign a form saying we won't use it in an Non-L.E. capacity.
I'm sure sometimes, my wife would say, I act like Hitler, where everything has to be my way or the highway. But, in the real world, it doesn't happen that way

In my opinion the new trucks ('04 F-150) aren't all that quieter. I still have wind noise. Not sure where it's coming from. The rest of our fleet is the '97-'03 body style and they have wind noise, but I always figured it was from the ladder racks. The thing is, we only get the XL (base) trim level (except the Boss (always a std. cab Flareside. has a regular '97, '99 Lightning and '00 4x4) and my Supervisor (Expedition) get XLT). The XLTs might be a bit quieter. The nice thing about the XL is that they come with the black vinyl flooring. Mud, sand, whatever just cleans up really easy. No hours of vacuming trying to get sand out.

I hate it when someone lights one up right next to you and then blows it towards you...that is just rude and disrespectful. I mean come on there is a reason I dont smoke...

Ick smoking. I don't care how hot some chick is, she lights up and she might as well be ugly as all sin. My dad smoked like a valley fireplace in the winter...wait...they don't smoke anymore....well you get the picture. Once I wasn't around him anymore I felt better and became highly sensitive to the smell of smoke. People don't think they smell like smoke...but they do.

Well, a person being obese only negatively affects their OWN health. Some a**hole smoking in a restaurant jacks everyone's health around them. Your liberties END when they step on someone else's liberties. I'm glad people can't smoke in any business in CA, except I think a smoke shop. Nor can you smoke within 25' of the entrance to a building.
I'm not sure if it's just the local school, or statewide, but there's no smoking on any campus, or facility that's being used as a school (Clovis Unified School District). All the school Band Boosters ended up getting together and opened up a Bingo Hall and share the space. It was disgusting to walk into the cafeteria on Tuesdays (Monday night Bingo). No the school rent the cafeterias out to churches. I'm not totally happy with it, but I guess as long as the schools are just renting the space to make some money.

I agree it should be your choice. This is still Americaand of the Free and still, Home of the BraveI've never smoked and have lived with smokers all my life. Mom and Dad, along with everyone else in my younger years. Now, my wifeWhat I hate about them is they feel free to throw their lit cigarettes out moving car windows or anywhere else, they might be atBR>I hated in the military, where we HAD to pick up the butts

i think the answer is to try and walk around with a turd in your shorts to even up the odor. altho i think the turd would be less offensive.
i smoked pipe-tobacco cigars for about a year.even non-smokers would comment about how sweet they smell. i've quit for about 5 months. on rare occasions i might have one, but i don't crave or buy them anymore.
Posted by: rescuediver
In Ca. the legislaturers are tossing around assembly bill(s), that would make against the law for Smokers to smoke in their vehicles, with children in the car. Now, I think that is going a little to far. That's one law, I might have a tough time enforcing.
Posted by: rescuediver
Skinner or anyone else, I'm thinking about putting a second battery on my trailer. I take it, there is a system I can buy, that connects both both batteries together, where they drain and charge in unison.
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
MD, just wait till the headliner falls down in the car. Then tell her she has to give up her smokes to pay for the new liner. You know, how healthy can cigs be when they eat the glue out of the headliners. The Boss' daughter used to borrow the old Sonoma to go shopping at Costco for the office (the T-Bird just didn't cut it) and she'd smoke in it. It would take 2 days for the stench to go away. Of course she never emptied the ash tray.
Anyone even THINKS about lighting up in the new truck it's gonna be on. Hell the Sonoma I went so far as to put the cig. lighter in the glove box and left my cell charger in the plug.
I've heard about that legislation. I'm torn. On one hand, the gov. needs to back the heck off. On the other hand, it's for the kids' health. Some parents are kind enough to not hot box their kids in the car. Others aren't. And with the asthma rate what it is around here the kids need all the chance they can get.
Posted by: rescuediver
If that occurs (headliner)then she will be taking it to a upholstery shop on the west sideof townBR>
I do the same thing with the lighters in my truck, plug the hole up don't even know where the lighter is.
On the law, I think they are going to far with it. To me, that is invading your privacy and they need to back off. What's next, checking your cabinets and refridgerator to make sure you don't have fatty food in the house. Because, like Toyo said, we are obese

MD, definitely go with 2 6V batteries run in series, you get 30% more use before they're dead, than 2 heavy duty 12V deep cycle batteries. HOW? the plates in the 6v are much heavier. they rate the battery based on how long it will last at 25Amp draw. the 2 6V last 420min. ONE super heavy duty deep cycle 12V lasts 160min.
hook up is simple. you hook one neg. post to the pos. post on the other battery. that will leave you with one pos. and one neg. to hook up to your trailer. you need to have the room for these 2 batteries, but it's the only way to go. AND, add a solar panel to charge, and you're really set.
i can send you pics of my set-up if you want, but that's the way to go.

6 volt batterieshhmmm, I did not know that. I just bought a new 12 volt deep cycle. And of course, I thought of the second battery afterwards.I don't think I've seen a 6 volt battery in years. When you set it up, you go neg to positiveI'm totally confused on thatuess that's why I'm not an electrician
I do have the room for two batteries up front by the hitch. Need to refrabricate the angle iron that holds the batteries in place though. No biggie on that. And the solar panel is an good ideaBR>If you can post a pic, I'd appreciate it

Hello all! That "other" thread is beginning to dry up a little since Girlygirl is no longer with us. For those of you who haven't heard this is what happened to her. Poor Girlygirl just didn't know when to stop.img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> On a brighter side, I got a new digital camera (my first actually) and posted a pic of my truck (pic #9) and thought this might be an appropriate place to post it.
Confused...I like the avator.
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
MD: Yep on the series 6V batteries. Think of it like a flashlight. You know those big black ones you guys carry. Or do you guys use the rechargable ones. Anyways. When you put a battery positive to negative you add the voltage up. So a 4-D cell mag light would have a nominal voltage of 6V (4x1.5v). On the trailers it's the same thing. Except you are running 2x6V to get your 12V.
But in your truck you have parrallel 12V batteries. They are hooked up positive to positive and negative to negative. You spread the 12V across both batteries (you need all the amperage to crank over the motor because of the compression).
I've got a friend who's parents have double 6V batteries on their trailer. And they supposedly last MUCH longer than 12V deep cycle. I've got a link at home that has a lot of good info for batteries in RVs and talks about maintaining them.
kicks: That video was too much. Did that girl get tossed off the site? I pretty much just hang in here, environment and CA thread on where to ride.

do u want something cheaper on the wallet and more reliable?......get a dodge 3500 with the 24 valve cummings...i too love fords. i have loved fords all my life, but now being employeed by dodge for a while and i have gotten the chance to compare the two...dodge is by far better. dodge has more torque, easier to upgrade, and a hell of alot cheaper to buy! but i do love the blue ovals.... but when it comes to a hauler...dodge is where it is!

Them are fightin' words. Dodge is a good truck, but the rear seating sucks!!!!! I can haul all my toys as fast as the corners will let me. I guess it's all personal preference.
Posted by: OneFlyCowboy
See now why would some guy step into the FBK and wanna trash fords. Sittin on the ranch there are both and the FORD WALKS ALL OVER THE DODGE!!! plus its way more comfortable(the ford) Handles better, looks better, is built tougher and the list goes on and on. Dodges are cheap for a reason and the only thing good they got goin for them is a cummins which coming up isnt even gonna be a cummins inline 6 which has less moving parts. But when dodge added all them elctronics to the Cumstain they screwed it up and they dont last as long. Just like team yellow (CAT) the 3406B mechanical will run forever no probs but them electronic versions are a pain in the assssss. i hate electronics. although i allow it with the ford.

BlackandRed,
she didn't get tossed but I think the admins at her work caught up with her 800 posts in 2-months. Hope she doesn't have to stand in the unemployement line, it's getting cold out there and I don't think a girlygirl could handle it.

So confucious, Bowling went SHIOTTY I happend to take 2 out of 3 individual points and the rest of the team got at least on of theirs i think we ended up with 10 of 21. sucked but we are still in first place By a comfortable 10 point margin. and we play the second place team next for the quarter. hopefully we can pull a tight game outta them. if we can get 10 and they get 11 we still get first place. everyone else even with a 21 point sweep cant even catch us and basically to loose first place we have to get swept. and that aint happinin!!! as for the honies at the lanes. HOLY crap these 3 young girls i will say 18(even though they was prolly 16 and why i didnt put the mack down man they are breeding them good these days. and then this one dudes wife was sittin down the lanes from us with this big ol rock on her finger bendin over all the time wearin no panties. i mean what the hell dude get your wife under control I swear the bowling alley is like a ho parade BR>
MD, Your wife smokes in the car? she does roll down the winders right? cuz i have smoked in my truck for what 4+years and people get in it and dont even know i smoke in it. truck dont smell like cigs. & I dont neither. all my girlfriends have been non smokers and such cuz i am a hypocryte like that and cant stand girls that smoke (except Pole) and they all tell me all their complaints and then say that dont apply to me? I think i have a natural enzyme that breaks down the smell and gets rid of it or sompin. either that or my Tool is so spectacular nothing else matters. hmmm I would never smoke inside my own house or anyone elses house. I dont smoke anywhere indoors except the bowling alley. they have good ventalation. funny thing im a smoker and dont like the smell of smoke. lol. DUMB ass yeah i know. But then agin i have on average 3 - 5 smokes a day so ya know i aint gettin the overdose.

blueovalwonder, dodge doesn't make a true crewcab, only ford and gm. i have logger cousins up north that swear by the dodge. they drool over that cummins engine. but once you get past the cummins, it's a dodge truck. and every one of them swears it's no good unless you get the 5-spd standard. their sister got an auto last year, and it went on her twice, and she tows virtually nothing.
and price-wise, they're all pretty close here in Canada. i thot Fords new 6.0L was supposed to be kicka$$ over everything else??
Toyo, on the young jailbait at the alley, careful you don't get arrested for a B&E.
MD, did Skinner's explanation make sense? he pegged it bang-on. if not, I'll post pics. the reason you get more capacity than 2-deep cycle 12V is the heavier plates in the 6V batts.
Hoss, get lost!

I'm the admin here at the office so I don't have to worry about getting ratted out. As long as I get my work done, the boss doesn't care. Hell, I've been sitting in IRC or a chat room yacking away and had the boss come in. I think he gets annoyed but not mad. But if I have nothing to do what does it matter? I get paid no matter what. Gotta love Salary over hourly.
I really have it pretty good here. I could get more cash going somewhere else, but the bennies probably wouldn't be close and I'd end up in a worse position that I am in. For me to change job someone would have to beat my current deal in perks, or probably pony up another 1,000K per mo. over what I get now. Draftsmen around here don't make that kind money.
Posted by: OneFlyCowboy
B&W thats about the same here. I could make way more money elsewhere but hell the overall the benifits just aint there. I make a miniscule 50g a year for my 4 hours of work a day and 4 hours in office oncall time. although somedays i dont have to work at all so thats good too.
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
That's pretty nice. I work a normal 8-5 (the Boss "whines" (quote of my supervisor) if I'm not here before 8:30). But I make it a point to leave at 5:00 no matter what. I've made out pretty good on the deal. Rarely do OT, and I get comp after 2 hours. So if something takes 1.5 hrs, I make it take 2. OT for the year is maybe 50 hrs. Makes it nice to take off 1/2 days or whole days to get a jump on a riding weekend without getting into my vacation time.

I get here between 8:30 and 9 and leave between 4:30 and 5 depending on what i am doing here or after here. one of my coworkers is pretty funny when i roll in at 9 he sings me that song workin 9 to 5 just tryin to make a livin. except my song is workin 9 to 4:30 not tryin to make a livin.

Run your 12v in series (24v) and run a 12v converter off them. ohh crap i guess you would haveto have a 24v charger for that though

Toyo, I know from experience, that she drives with the air on and the windwos down when it's 100+ out in the summer and drives with the windows down and the heat on full blast in the winterSo, go figure, she's screwed upShe has these scent trees in the front and back of her mountaineer. Get real, like OneFly said, they are cheap for a reason. Two of my friends have the dodge cummins and both have had there share of problems. So, it's cheaper for a reason, but, in the long run, you pay more for repairs. You also don't get as much in re-sale value, it's not as comfortable even with the new half size rear doors, that they call full doors. They need to try and build a real truck around that drive train to try and match the Blue Oval. MD

Aww haw i see the problem She should only have the drivers window open approx 3" with the defrost / feet settin fan on med. hold the smoke in left hand near foreward opening unless puffin on it. then exhaust the smoke out the window. I can smoke in my truck all the time and it never smells like smoke. but if some other dillhole is in the passenger seat they always make the truck smell like smoke. The venturi theory is out the door when you open the other windows. so the smoke goes to the rest of the vehicle. now under my theory putting the air at the feet and sending it out the small opening in the window and the defrosters blowin towards the window it pushes all the smoke out. Its a pretty nifty trick. Most the guys i know that smoke in their rigs, dont smell like smoke, all women i know that smoke in their cars SMELLLLLL

Creator, I like them cheap ziplock disposable containers. If you stow sompin in em and they get nasty just toss em. although i do have allot of tupperware bowls and sammich containers. I just use the big bowls for cereal or salad or popcorn otherwise the only dishes you need are those hybred bowl / Plates then you dont have to worry about spillin your spaghetti on your lap sittin in the rocker watchin FoxNews for a while when i was livin with my older brother outta highschool we all had our own cereal bowl/salad bowl and our own silverware (lifted from outback steakhouse) and a hybred bowl plate. then when your done eatin you wash your dish and put it away never have anything in the sink. well except when our buddy moved in he would use up every plate, bowl, cup in the cubbord and leave em in the sink. and none of us would touch em cuz we didnt use. To this day that guy is still the same way and his wife biatches to me all the time about it. lol. I now eat and wash my dishes right away and then throw em in the dishwasher to dry

Running in series (pos - Neg) doubles voltage. running in Parallel (pos - pos) maintains voltage increases Amps. so yes with two 12v in series you get 24 volt while in parallel you get double amps same voltage.

Thats why califorskin is so messed up!!! I think hoss is still safe with his sheep in utah but seriously. Unfortunatley i cant afford prozac or anything so you just have to deal with a hot head! I strongly believe Government is overstepping its bounds legislating on issues like that. its straight up a bunch of crap. if they wanna say no smoking in a courthouse or school or any of their buildings so beit. But if i own a bar / bowling alley/ resturaunt and i want to allow smoking their THATS MY CHOICE not the governments!!! and if people dont want to patronize my establishment because of my choices thats their choice. all this PC cant offend anyone crap is BS. it offends me that i cant smoke somewhere. so where is my consideration??? huh? ITS ONLY TOLERANCE WHEN IT FITS A CERTAIN AGENDA!!! i so f@cucking hate liberal ideals!!! Let the almighty dollar make the descisions. oh where oh where has capitalism gone. people are jelous of a man making a proffit. crap crap crapo1!!!!!

So, if I run them as a 24v system, my lights will be brighterut, they will last alot shorter, correct? And if I run them in Parallel, they last longer and provide more electrical, which is what I'm looking for, correct? And in this configuration, they charge together and discharge together. Or should you run them with an isolator and run them independant?
Posted by: OneFlyCowboy
well you get 480 amp hours outta a big 6volt so in series you have 480 amp hours at 12 volt. if you had 2 - 8D 12volts wich are 255 amp run in parallel you have 510 amps at 12 volt, but im guessing you dont have 8D batterys so ya know. its all a function of amphours
Posted by: OneFlyCowboy
As for hooking them in parallel you want to hook your charger to the positive on one battery and the negative on the other. before you hook them up together make sure they have a full charge. cuz a big difference between emwill kill the other battery.
Yeah 12volt lights generally cant handle the 24volt charge on em. they get real bright and then go black

So, then if I take how many amps something is drawing, divide that into the amp hours the battery says it will put out, then, that is how long the battery will run that particular item, is that correct? And, running the batteries in parallel doubles that time

Roughly yes that is the theory

Well you guys have been busy while I was off screwing around. Our warehouse manager is in the market for a 4x4 ute. He sold his when he moved into town and now regrets it (the selling the quad, not the move.) He has a cabin up at Beasore Meadows and had to walk 1/2mile yesterday in knee deep snow to close it up for the winter. He wants either a Yamaha or Honda so I printed him out all the specs. Anyways....
Yeah, the 6Vs you want to run in series, while the 12Vs you want to run parallel. Or you can run the 6Vs in series-parallel (takes multiples of two and a LOT of room.) if you want a LOT of run time and can afford the weight. You also don't necessarily have to run the batteries terminal to terminal. You can use some type of a lug in a box to do this. I'm sure an RV store would have them, or you could get some lugs from an electrical supply house that are rated for the size and number of wires you have.
The link page I found has a TON of great info. Like getting the batteries out of the black plastic boxes and into a compartment somewhere as they cook in the summer time. He also goes into the different battery technologies out there and pros and cons. Basically how much $$ you want to spend. I found it when I was helping out a friend with a tent camper.
I've never heard of anyone running 12Vs in series. You'd need a converter and would start to lose power do to the conversions.
Time for really bad ASCII graphics:
ick. The forum software ate all the spaces that made it what it was. Oh well.
I wish the forums had a PRE tag. It'd look really pretty I swear.
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
MD correct. Also the thing is that you will have to adjust for the voltage going down which increases the Amperage of the draw.
A = Watts / Volts.
So:
10A = 120Watts @ 12 Volts (120/12=10)
Automotice battery systems are 12V nominal. Basically that's their average. IIRC a fully charged and healthy automotive lead acid battery is rated at 12.7V max. And drop to like 10.5V. Below that you risk toasting it. A standard automotive battery can go deep cycle about 3 or 6 times before it's shot. A "deep cycle" can go many more timees. However, you should never use more than about 50% even on a deep cycle.
Posted by: OneFlyCowboy
On our boats we run 8D - 12v batteries in series. on has 2 sets hooked in parralel it take a ridiculous amount of amps at 24 volts to start the main. if the batterys are not holding higher than 12.7v the engine wont turn over. and its tough cuz the generator on that one blew up. so pretty much if your gonna take that boat out you dont shut the main off.

My local r.v. repair shop basically told me it's really not a big deal going either way. He did say, the 6v would last longer then the 12v set up, due to it being heavier in build. He also, suggested running the wires pos-pos'm soooooo, confusedhr>
your RV dealer is a moron. if you hook up the 2 pos terminals to one another on the batteries, you will have a parallel circuit of 6V, and nothing will work. you need to connect the batts together. now that you've committed to a 12V deep cycle, just get another one. BUT, the two 6V do last longer than 2-12v, so to me, that is a significant difference. depends how easy it is for you to re-charge them, and how long you camp disconnected.

NO!NO!NO!
SERIES=adding up your voltage, so 6+6=12. parallel...... you still have the same voltage.
the rating is how long the battery will last based on an INDUSTRY STANDARD draw test/rating, which is 25 amps. so, they say a deep cycle 12V will last 120 min while drawing 25amps. unlikely you'll ever draw 25 amps in your trailer, more like 5 amps for the big items like heater fan or water pump. lights use very little amperage. they ALL use 12V. BTW, make sure you use the proper low-heat bulbs. i think they're 1153 bulbs. it should say inside when you remove light cover.they all fit, like tail light bulbs, but they generate too much heat and burn the plastic covers.

well actually, you never specified any of that, you just said a "business", with no provision for whether it was legal or not. you may have MEANT something totally different in your roid-induced rage, but i only responded to what you SAID, not what you MEANT. and drugs are huge business, not legal, but huge. and tobacco IS an illegal substance....to minors. and it just leads to all the other bad drugs i was talkin 'bout. yep, tobacco is the first of the stepping stone drugs.

No, they are all working and have the correct time being displayed. I have some electrical knowledge can wire things up. I'm just a little confused on this issue and decided to ask am not above asking for helpt's all about learningnd, if I don't learn something new everyday, then, that day was wastedBR>

skinner, that's a great link. i was being disturbed while trying to read it, but another thing to be careful of is leaving your batteries connected while trailer is plugged in for long periods. the trailer has built in batt charger, but it doesn't shut off, so batts get overcharged and it starts to run down the liquid levels in each cell.
Posted by: rescuediver
I would like to thank everyone for their imput on my battery set-up delemnaI think I will sell my 12v battery and get two 6v's. Thanks Confused for starting me down that path,. Thanks to Skinner and Hoss for the links, they helped tremendouslyAnd Toyo for explaining things so that, I absorbed them into my thick skullThanks again guysD
Posted by: rescuediver
Confused, that was a great linkI saved it, I'm going to print it off and throw it in the trailer for future use. I know I'll need it. You started me down the 6v pathand I think I'm going to use that set-uphe amp hrs really jump from the 12v. the cold crank amps I don't need

ya Ned, you self-righteous a$$hole. hey, wait a minute, i thot Ned was our dog we like to kick around and tell to shut up.? and i don't tkink he's called anyone a name, except "neighbor". hey, this is like the episode where Homer defended Ned to the congregation. DOH! BR>
MD, you won't regret the 2-6Vs. the pics in the link from skinner are really simple, and perfect. Hoss' link was useless..... unless i couldn't find the stuff about batts, in which case, i must be useless. too bad ya gotta sell the deep cycle. (light bulb) trade it in on the 2-6V!! my dad just did that with some golf cart batteries that were new, but wrong for his cart. the store was super fair to him on the trade in. your batt. should be dated, and they can check condition of each cell. you should get half of what you paid, which is probably the most you'd get trying to unload it used.
so 3 friends all recently sold their homes and are upgrading. wife has been wanting to move for ages, but doesn't understand we're poor and the quads are expensive hobby to run. so i think i'll list house, upgrade while interest rates are at all-time lows (to a house with no shop, no land but a shiny new kitchen), be mortgage poor for the rest of my life, sell quads, have kids hate me, watch int. rates sky-rocket, lose house, declare bankruptcy, lose job and have a heart-attack from all the stress. img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0"> all to prove a point! geez, that sounds as passionate as Toyo's smoking rant.! Aaaaarghh! well, i always say: WOMEN! can't live with 'em.... and the penalty for murder is too steep.

Toyo, here's a blurb I just found;
GARY ALLAN'S WIFE DIES OF SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT WOUND
It is with great sadness that we report the following . . .
Gary Allan's wife, Angela, has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, reports Allan's record label. Gary's wife, Angela Herzberg, died early this morning (Oct. 25) of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The death occurred in their home in the Nashville suburb of Hendersonville, where Gary and Angela had moved the family in 2003. Further details of the death are pending.

There's a piece of property for sale on the west side of our county. 14,000 acres, 2 homes, numberoud out buildings, wild life, including tule elk(which around here is rare) I think 14 stocked ponds, like 6 creeks, bordering 80,000 acres state park. All for the mere price of 14 million.

golly gee whiz, i was basing the jokingly offered comment on what you posted. so if an rv dealer gave that advice, he would be a moron. if it was an innocent error by you, i'd never call you a moron since you don't work with that stuff everyday, whereas an rv dealer does, and should know better. also, i think the golf cart batteries (that's what everyone calls the two 6volts run in series) are much better, not about the same or won't make much difference, which is what you said your rv dealer told you. so the combination of those 2 comments made me think the guy didn't know his stuff very well.
anyways, i'm now deeply offended and hurt, sniff, sniff, nobody likes ned and you guys always tell me to shut up....... especially Hoss and Creator...., so i'm just going to leave this thread and disappear into obscurity. what are you going to do when you don't have ned to kick around anymore?? bwaaaahh.
Posted by: rescuediver
Ned, True I don't work in the area everyday, closes thing in electrical I get to everyday is; turning the ignition key, to my PSDurning on the lights in my house and when the wife lets me, I get to turn her on tooBR>
And if you do decide to leaveWe'd still have HossBR>
Posted by: rescuediver
Well guys, it's time to go look for 6v batteriesAnd get this puppy wired upChat later, MD

If we can't kick around Ned then we'll go after CONFUCIOUS!!!
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
I wouldn't have high confidence in MD's dealer as well if he was ambivelant about the double 6Vs. I know where I can get (4) 6V batteries...though the boss might be a mighty tweaked when a scissor lift didn't work. LOL. 4x6Vs in series to power those things.
Actually got involved on another forum (toy haulers) about DLs in CA. At least I'm not the only one who noticed the towing limits.
Posted by: BlackandRedWarrior
Guys, I thought I'd share this tale with you. Kind of goes on some of the lic. & weight stuff we've discuessed here. It's a RV site and a toy hauler section. A discussion was started on the listed UVW of Attitude Trailers and someone taking their trailer to a scale have having it weigh like 1600# more than what the UVW was listed as. This spawned a thread on CA law and drivers lic. class limitations. Yes, I'm under the same name over there.
On the third page, post number 3 for that page is what can happen. A guy lost EVERYTHING. Wife, house, toys, vacation property ($1.2M civil judgement) and faces manslaughter. I wanted to put it over here so I knew where I'd be able to find it for future reference.

my skin's too thick, and you guys haven't been able to get to me yet after all these posts (altho you've certainly tried hard to beat on me). so fill yer boots! i'll take the bullet for ya ned.

skinner, interesting thread on the trailer. i'm just curious what the guy thot his insurance company should do after they paid out the limits of the coverage the guy had opted to purchase? pay more? i mean, YOU choose how much coverage ya want, so why blame them when you don't have enough? or expect them to pay more?? would any of us do that, "geez, i feel really bad you didn't buy enough coverage, can i make up the difference for you?" NOT!
wow, manslaughter charges, that's really harsh. he must have been flying way over the limit to warrant a charge like that. i don't think we'd be quite as harsh here in Socialismland for that type of incident. and i find it hard to believe he lost so much considering the US bankruptcy laws protect you against losing it all. they're more protective than here.
