I have a 1/2 ton truck that would be able to pull a small (up to 22ft) trailer. Who makes the best toy hauler for a 1/2 ton truck

We just went to an RV show. They had a Fleetwood Gearbox, OMG it has everything!! 2 fuel tanks (so if you need to carry 2 different types (with pump system), built in FRS chargers (and radios), air compressor, power washer, work bench, TONS of storage. Room in the 33 ft. one for 4 quads easy. It was $37,000. Anyone else seen this? Here is a link to it. (Mrs. Q) cool toybox

That's why we have an enclosed trailer we made ourselves, it's nice, and about 33,000 cheaper!! I don't have the bells and whistles, but it gets the job done. If I hit the lottery, I'll be splurging! (Mrs. Q)

No offense but Carson trailers are built very poorly with cheap materials. You can do alot better for a little more cash. JMO.......

Check out the toy haulers that Aluminum Trailer Company sells. they have some really affordable models both on teh high end and low end, and a few that can be hauled by a half ton pickup with no problem...

One thing about the big gear boxes is that with the bathroom, sink, and stove, they qualify as a second home, and you get to deduct the interest on your income taxes...so the costs can be offset somewhat if you fall in one of those categories. I crunched some numbers and the payment comes out under what my truck payment is.... You really have to do some travelling to get enough use out of it to justify the costs, but in this day and age where a bass boat costs over 30 grand, I guess it is all relative.

That Gearbox is awesome on the web page, but 37 G's? Not this cowboy.

In 1997 I bought a '95 Dutchmen Classic 22' 5th wheel for 9500 bucks, and tow my quad trailer behind it. I could use one that's bigger, but this one has air, micro, self-lighting everything, pretty well equipped, and it's been paid for for quite some time. Whenever I get close to biting it for a bigger camper, I just think about that much money for a little more comfort and I get cold feet!
Of course, I'm also the cheapskate still riding an 87 L250.........

We sell carson fun runners and for the price they are great, if u want one like that carson trailer will do it for alot less for the exact same thing. I am really not kidding for about 25,000 you could probably have the same thing. THey dont have stock trailers like that, but they build us anything we have done some pretty amazing trailers, design out what you want and talk to one of their dealers they really will hook you up.

i have actually compared the carson trailer with the other manufactures. I have been to carsons factory about 4 times now. and visited 2 other manufactures plants. There was nothing at all different. Carson just finds the cheapest way to do stuff. I do agree that somethings on it are really messed up and like why would u do that, but all the ones we dont like get send back or fixed. we have done about 4 or 5 really nice 28ft funrunners with every option available and some other things they made for us and they turned out really great.

Techtip, look at the weekend warrior 23' super lite, they were made especially for the 1/2 ton trucks.

I checked out a lot of toy haulers before I bought mine, and I chose the Fleetwood Gearbox. I would recommend this trailer to anyone I really like it.

$37,000 is the asking price. I got my 30' Gearbox for under $30,000 O.T.D. Toy haulers, motor homes and fifth wheels are marked up big time.

It comes down to what you can afford. If you can afford a nice toy hauler get it. If you can't, sleep in a $4000 enclosed trailer. If you cant afford that, pitch a tent.
