I have the HMF, so I guess I can tell you quite a bit about it.
Installation took about 1.5 hours, not too bad.
Loud- Yes, it makes plenty of noise. It is probably the loudest pipe you can out on your V2. Will you get power from the pipe? Not much really, but when you combine it with the air filter and rejetting you should definitely notice a little extra snap. (once it is properly jetted of course) It is a very deep tone, with a good sound, but it is loud. I believe the website rates it at like 106 dB without the core. The tone isn't as nice with the quiet core in, so I run mine without.
I have 126 dynojets in mine, both front and rear. I tried several combinations and this is where the plugs looked the best. I also have the VDI snorkel, and that will definitely make a difference in jetting, so you will likely not have to jet as big as me.
You won't notice the pipe's performance half as much as you will notice a new CDI.

I do what I can.
So V2GUY, did ya get the HMF?

Yep, that youtube clip is pretty much exactly what mine sounds like. If you like the clip, you should love it on your quad.

Can't help with the HMF. With regard to the jetting, it is not a matter of what jet to decide on it is a matter of what the motor wants. You jet based on what the engine is calling for with respect to any mods to the intake and exhaust. All will influence the breathing of the engine and the engine will determine what size jet it can utilize the best.
You will need to know how to do a correct WOT test and also how to read your spark plugs.
To do a correct WOT test you need to warm up the engine then change and put new and correctly gapped spark plugs in. Then start the engine and go directly to a full throttle and do a top end run - at the top speed you need to shift in neutral and kill the engine, and bring the bike to a stop then read the color of the ring on the spark plug (you do not want any influence from idling or the pilot system). If the plug denotes a rich condition then you need a smaller jet (or you need to be able to get more air into the carb), if it shows lean then you need a larger jet (or restrict the intake or exhaust).
You will also need to contend with correct heat range of the spark plug.

Regarding the HMF pipe. You can find a lot of information on the HMF forum. I don't think they have a website. The HMF forum will answer most of your questions and they have dyno charts and sound level pressure levels for the different pipes. Hope this helps.
yep I did, thanks, I changed it... kinda hard to have it lean or rich calling for a smaller jet - lol.. That's what I get for being a DUMMY!!!

Chumley, I don't care what others say about you, I still think you are pretty smart. - lol..

Hi all,
Im thinking about getting a HMF pipe and K and N filter for the V2. Will I see a noticeable difference in power? How loud is the HMF? Anyone have any soundclips of a V2 with one? What jets do you guys recommend i use? I plan on getting epi pink/black springs but can I do the pipe and filter first without killing the belt? and my last question is how hard is it to put on?
Thanks guys

YES!!!
Well actually not yet. I bought it off ebay for 228 shipped but it hasnt arrived yet. I did receive my k and n filter though. I think it should be here this week or early next he said it takes 10 business days to ship and i ordered on the 14th so hopefully it will get here in time for the labor day weekend.
ps by the way if anyone is interested in what it should soundlike, the only good clip i have found is on youtube and its a BruteForce 750 it sounds killer and i figure it should sound about the same on my V2. Just go to youtube and search "brute force hmf".

Well heres an update...
I finally got the pipe friday and put it on saturday afternoon. First of im going to say real easy install on the pipe itself maybe an hour and a half. Second what a sound man it sounds awesome, most single cylinder atvs have that rap to the exhaust but man the V-Twin has such a tone to it like a V-8. Third it looks so much better the brused aluminum compared to my black and rusty stocker. I havent had a chance to ride it yet I was going to jet it myself but i got seven of the screws out and stripped one, so im going to take it to a shop this week to get it done I think theyll just use the 125f/128r jets that came with it all I have is the pipe a k and n and a dynatek cdi. And lastly thanks for all the help guys.

recommended jets for HMF Penland Pro slip-on for 650 V2
125 Front - 128 Rear Keihin Round
quiet core lowers it to 96-98 dB
pretty noticable power gains
take up to 4 hours to install
heres the installation sheet https://hmfengineering.com/images/store/files/1182861241-webgeneral-sliponandfull.pdf

Hi guys I just joined the forums and was looking around and saw this topic. I don't know any specifics on the HFM pipe but I thought I would share my encounter with the HMF. I went riding yesterday and met up with a couple of guys riding a pair of Z 400's with HMF Slip ons. They said they were very pleased with the performance gains. We road together for a couple of hours and I fell in love with the sound of the HMF. It has a deep throaty sound and is not too loud. I have a yosh slip on and am seriously contemplating getting a HMF.
