It probably doesn't need to come on. I can cruise all day and my fan won't come on but even in winter if I put it under a heavy work load it will come on. If you put it under a heavy work load for a period it probably will come on, climb some steep hills in low-range and 4x4, it probably will come on then.
Put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator and drive around until it comes on. Then you will know it is working. Just be careful.
You may be able to install some automotive guages for oil, water temp etc. They probably would all hook into existing hoses that you already have on the machine.

Does water circulate all the time? Maybe your thermostat is stuck open. If so then maybe it is keeping your engine so cool that the fan is not required.

I've got a 1998 Arctic cat 454 atv and the fan is not coming on. The fan works, I replaced the water temperature switch in the bottom of the radiator. I also disconnected the 2 wires to the temperature switch jumped them together and the fan came on. Water is circulating through the radiator however I am unsure what volume. Can someone tell me what is standard operating temp. of the machine and why my fan might not be coming on?
