I'm here even though I haven't posted in a good while. Things have gotten a little slow on the AC front. I've been being a little more cautious on the roads lately around here. The state boys have been patroling the roads around here and have already busted one guy. Not able to have any fun anymore.

Here is another AC guy. I read the post every chance I get. I purchased my 2000, 300, 4x4 just before Xmas. I am very please with my cat's
capabilities. It is no means a power house, but I didn,t buy it to impress or blow anybody away. I'm patiently awaiting the arrival of some spring like
temperatures. What CV boot guards would you recommend ? I recently check the dealer and he wanted 60.00 for a aftermarket set, to rich for my blood. Anybody know where I can get a deal? Princes Auto has 4,000 lbs ATV snatch blocks on sale for 9.00 cdn. Great deal?

Where are all the Arctic Cat folks? Hangin out in the Polaris forum? ;-)
I was just wondering. I made a couple of posts a few days ago and haven't gotten many replies.

Glad to see this forum is still alive!
Mountainman, one of my buddies rides a 300 4x4 and had a problem with his brake light. I don't know what the problem was, but he did fix it the other day. I'll find out and get back to you.

Mountainman,
I talked to my buddy and he had the same problem u did. He had to take the front rack off and move the front plastic forward. The problem was around the stearing column where some wires plugged together. The one that activates the brake light when you use the hand brake had come unplugged.

Cheers Jim

Just picked up two AC 500 Auto's yesterday morning. Due to some custom trailer modifications that proved rather time consuming, have only been able to put about 30 miles on so far, this morning.
On a side note, THANK YOU! to everyone out there for all the advice and suggestions. I feel the AC is definately the best machine for my needs, and while dealer test drives are not exactly a fair judge of the ride, this mornings small 30 mile treck left me very confident of the machines capabilties. I am more than thrilled with my purchases of the AC 500 Auto's.
While my Dad purchased his machine completely stock with the extended warranty, I bought the warn winch for my 'Cat. Also used the old grill that was replaced by the winch plate to cut out light guards, which will prevent gravel or other debris from possibly damaging the lens'. Added an old military mortar box to the front rack for storage of extra cable, ropes, snatch blocks and clevis hooks, other possible emergency recovery equipment. (Hopefully I won't need it, but rather have it and not, then not have it and wish I did!). We also added Cycle Country stick stoppers to both machines for CV protection. Next weekend, plan to paint my rims black, to match the grill and bumper, and also add some KC lights for those "extra dark" night rides.
It was suggested not to go more than half throttle for the first ten hours to ensure proper break-in. Does anybody have any other break-in advice? Any do's or don'ts?
Thanks Again!, Happy Trails.
2000 AC 500 Auto, 2000# Warn winch, mortar box-fully loaded, stick stoppers and soon to have accessory lighting.

Hey,here is a AC guy,My wife and I each have a AC.
However we just picked them up a couple of weeks ago and have not had time to put much time on them yet,so we do not have much experience to share with you.The dealear and many others have strongly recommend the boot protectors.I think they are well worth the money. We will use our ACs around the farm and due to the brush I think this would help.

I own a AC 4004x4 and love it. I flipped the thing this weekend up in West Point, Tn. I was going down a very steep hill, hit a rock with my right front tire and was thrown off. I was on the ground and looked back, and here comes the big Cat on me. It rolled off of me and down into a rut. I was with my father, whot flipped it over and started it right up.
The only damage to the cat was a slightly bent front rack, bent bandle bars, scratched up plastic and a rear rack that was bent so much it looked like rolling hills. I fractured my clavicle in my sholder and was very sore, but all right.

I'm a new AC guy. Just bought a 5004x4, have about 70 miles on it so far. This is my first ATV and I have alot to learn, but this is an awesome machine! I didn't do much comparison shopping, I just like Arctic Cat and they have a good reputation. This is a solid machine and is built well, looks like it'll take me anywhere I can imagine going (and them some!). Anyone know of any good places to ride in New Hampshire?

Have one here. Bought mine just after Christmas; has a little over 100 miles on it. Seems like a real good machine. The only problems so far have been a Torx head screw in the left front fender came out and the brake light quit working with the hand brake (works fine with the foot brake). I tested the switch with a multi-meter, no power there. Fuses are all good, switch itself tests good on/off continuity, still haven't found the open. Anyone else with this problem?

Four_Play,
Thanks for the info on the brake light. I havn't had time yet to take the rack off and investigate, but this does sound like the logical place to start. I meant to reply back sooner, but I just don't get on the internet very often.
Thanks again,
mountainman

Here's a new AC guy. I just bought an AC 500 Auto. Seems like a great machine to me, although I only have 70 miles on it right now. Went on a 20 mile ride with two Honda's and four Polaris', no problem keeping up or going where they went. I'm sure with some more experience on it "I'll be the one to try to keep up with"
Glad to be part of the "AC family"

Thats right scav, its me---black helmet and all. Got stuck intentional last night, had to try the winch out--pulled me out no problem. Was in heavy mud and high centered on a stump that had this big block of ice around it.

I don't know where to ride there but have heard there are quite a few. I'm next door in Vermont. We are finding trails here and are having a riot. Learn about more all the time. It seems a lot of guys are getting machines this year and the guys that have had them for a while are very knowledgable about where to go.

Here's a new AC guy making first post as a new AC owner. I read alot from here, magazines, Internet, and spent lots of hours looking at/riding and talking to owners of other machines before deciding on the 500 AutoCat. I am fortunate in that crowd I ride with is "brand diverse" - got opportunity to ride lots of different machines, (and not just on parking lots) before having to decide what to buy. Our last riding trip, just the trailer I pulled included a Polaris, a Yamaha, a Honda, and my former ATV, a 1988 Suzuki 250 4X4 that is now in well-deserved semi retirement at the hands of my niece. Just need some suggestions of how to keep her off the new Cat so I can ride it :)!!
On a serious note, have appreciated the candor, wisdom, and often humor of some posts from this forum. As far as the Cat, got it Saturday, and its rained like hell every day since :(. Only have about 15 miles on it, but that'll change soon!!! I'll post in future about how I like the Cat as I get to actually use it to work and play.
