Arctic Cat has filter and oil change kits that have your filter and a gallon of oil in them, plus a spout that makes it easier to pour the oil into your crankcase. The kits come with either regular (Dino) oil or sythetic oil. I'm a sythetic fan after breaking. Whichever route you take, change your oil often. The sythetic has at least double the oil change intervals or mileage.

i use whatever brand of oil we have in a 55 gallon drum for farm use so it is usually a no name brand. i buy the genuine kawi oilfilter i think i paid 15 dollars at the dealership for it i almost started crying. LONG LIVE THE KAWI hmmmm suprised that thing still runs let alone purrs as good as it does.

There are as many opinions on oil and filters as there is on politics and religion so you will have to decide for yourself.
I use Mobile 1 fully synthetic 10W 30 with a NAPA 1358. You can use oil that has no " Energy Conserving, Friction Modifiers" because you do not have a wet clutch.
Wal-Mart sells a 5qt jug of Mobile 1 for $19.99, that will do 2 oil changes. Napa filters are around $8-$9 and are made by "Wix"
Wix are arguably one of the best filters you can buy.
I have 2,200 miles on my 05 650 V-2 and I ride in temperatures from 10 to 100 degrees with no problems.
Good luck.
